Just know this: there is no greatest film(s) of all time...
First, you should watch the movies you love. PERIOD.
- So what's this list ?
In contradiction to what I've just said, this list is called « The Greatest films of all time ».
Why?
One of the most popular debates among cinephile is - obviously :
« what should be considered the best film(s) of all time ».
Of course, everybody has his own answer.
The answer is also not the same based on the year we're in. « Bicycle Thieves » topped a poll in the 50's ; « Godfather » tops many polls ; « Citizen Kane » is almost every cinephile's favorite movie.
The answer is also different based on the region of the World we're in... « La Règle du Jeu » in France ; « Sholay » in India ; « 小城之春 » in China...
So... For fun, I made a list in 2016. I tried to be as objective as possible, adding films from across the globe & from every year.
... But then, I started to add every movie I was watching.
So here is the list :)
