He acted in David Turner's play, "The Long The Short and The Tall," in an English Stage Company production at the New Theatre in London, England with Robert Shaw, Edward Judd, Ronald Fraser, Alfred Lynch, and Bryan Pringle in the cast. Lindsay Anderson was director.

After his death his ashes were brought back to Ireland, where they are held in safe keeping by President Michael D Higgins in his official residence, Áras an Uachtaráin, until he can be laid to rest in the west of Ireland.
