rating: 7 True story about a young journalist who fabricates 27 articles (out of 40-something) for the New Republic. It amazed me how so many professionals were fooled, and how self-delusional the main character was. In the face of facts, he continued to maintain his innocence. The movie reminded me how important integrity and honesty was. The editor who eventually figures out the lies was very unpopular with the staff - but in the end he gets respect, not because he was a "people-person" or popular, but because he stuck to the truth. Lesson learned.

As I was watching it, and immediately afterwards, I thought it was a good premise and story for a movie, but it was too drawn out and the editing was choppy. After some time, though (after my two-hour workout actually), it grew on me and I couldn't stop thinking about it and the fear, desperation, and above all, hopelessness the characters felt in this movie.
