Grint wants to detach himself from the early role but still looks back at it fondly. He cares about his character. Fans may be happy to hear that he has the desire to play Ron again.

In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

It can be hard at times to separate Rupert Grint from his "Harry Potter" roots. Even now, over a decade after the last film in the franchise was released, Grint's name is still synonymous with Ron Weasley, the clumsy boy wizard with a heart of gold. But Grint's acting career definitely has roots outside of Hogwarts. Over the years, he's appeared in various other films including Jeremy Brock's "Driving Lessons," Jonathan Lynn's "Wild Target," and 2009's "Cherrybomb" directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn.
"Cherrybomb" is a British drama about two teenagers who both fall for the same girl. In increasingly more serious attempts at getting her attention, they eventually find themselves in over their heads and headed for disaster. Grint plays one of the teens, Malachy McKinney, an employee at a local movie theater. In the film, Malachy is the exact opposite of Ron Weasley, eager...

Stephen Fry and Derek Jacobi are amongst the backers of the impressive British contract killer movie, Two Down...
Filmmakers seem to have a fixation with hitmen. No doubt this is because the addition of a contract killer creates the opportunity for just the right degree of tension, some violence, and a dash of psychological intrigue. Nevertheless, the formula can still produce idiosyncratic results, as Two Down, from Fizz and Ginger Films, proves. With backing from executive producers Stephen Fry and Derek Jacobi, the husband and wife team have created an absorbing drama with a very British flavour.
Matthew Butler Hart, the film’s director and co-writer, says they wanted to do something which involved three people together in a room, with both light and dark elements. Out of that grew this understated thriller, combining the influence of 1970s spy movies with a dry sense of humour.

"There are parts of the house that are unsafe." Universal and Legendary have debuted a new, full-length theatrical trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak, his new haunted house horror-thriller featuring quite a tremendous cast lead by Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Charlie Hunnam and Tom Hiddleston. This movie is so beautiful, the sets look gorgeous, the ghosts look creepy, it all looks perfectly mood and unsettling and amazing at once. Exactly what I would hope for from del Toro, and the more we see from this, the better it looks. The first trailer was just a tease, now we explore his new haunted mansion. Here's the second trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak, direct from Universal: Crimson Peak is directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim, The Devil's Backbone) from a script he co-wrote with Matthew Robbins (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Mimic) and Lucina...

"There are parts of the house that are unsafe." We've been waiting patiently, and director Guillermo del Toro has finally delivered the teaser trailer for his latest horror project, Crimson Peak. In true teaser fashion, it doesn't show much, but it makes a bold claim that this is del Toro's ultimate masterpiece. It looks gorgeous and haunting, but there's clearly some visual effects that still need to be finished. It's hard to convey too much of the spookiness of a film like this without using cheap scares, and thankfully, del Toro doesn't go for that, and let's Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain shine. Watch! Here's the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak, originally from Apple: Crimson Peak is directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim, The Devil's Backbone) from a script he co-wrote with Matthew Robbins (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Mimic) and...

After directing Les Miserables and The King's Speech, director Tom Hooper is sticking with period drama. This time he's heading to the 1930s for the sex change drama The Danish Girl. Hooper had already rounded up an impressive cast with Eddie Redmayne leading the story of Danish painter Einar Wegener, who would become the first person to receive a sex change operation from a man to woman in 1931, becoming Lili Elbe. Redmayne is joined by Alicia Vikander as Wegener's wife Gerda and Amber Heard as a character named Oola. Now Deadline reports The Drop star Matthias Schoenaerts has landed a role too. It's not clear who the actor will play, but it's likely a meaty part. The film is based on David Ebershoff's book of the same name, and has been adapted by Lucinda Coxon (Wild Target, Crimson Peak). It's another remarkably different role for Redmayne following solid work...

Way back in September of 2009, Nicole Kidman was slated to star in an adaptation of The Danish Girl with Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson at the helm. But five years later, the talent has switched out both in front of and behind the camera. Deadline has word that Les Miserables director Tom Hooper will now be at the helm of the story about Danish painter Einar Wegener, who would become the first person to receive a sex change operation from a man to woman in 1931, becoming Lili Elbe. And it will be Hooper's previous musical ensemble star Eddie Redmayne taking the challenging period drama lead role. As for the role of Wegener's wife Gerda, that still seems to be open with Kidman no longer involved (Charlize Theron was in the mix for the role before that). The film is based on David Ebershoff's book of the same name,...

Having previously collaborated with great success on Les Miserables in 2012, director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) and actor Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn) are set to reunite for the dramatic film adaptation of The Danish Girl.
The source novel, ‘The Danish Girl’, was published in 2000 and written by David Ebershoff. It imaginatively embellishes the story of real life painter, Einar Wegener who, in 1930, became one of the first men to undergo what were then highly experimental gender reassignment surgeries. The tale focuses on Wegener and his wife Gerda, and the responses of those around them to their changing lives. Once the transition process began, Wegener’s name was legally changed to Lili Elbe, and she chose to never paint again.
The adaptation appears to have been in development for a while – previously with Nicole Kidman’s production company, with a view to her taking the lead role of...

The writer of such great romantic comedies as Notting Hill, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral, Richard Curtis, is behind About Time, which stars Rachel McAdams (Morning Glory) and Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley from Harry Potter) as the lovers with obstacles.
Domnhall Gleeson plays Tim, a guy who’s lower on the social chain. But the night after another unsatisfactory New Year party, Tim gets some interesting news from his father (Bill Nighy, Wild Target): They can travel through time, not to change history, but to change things in their own life.
Tim decides to use his newfound power to get a girlfriend (Rachel McAdams). But the more he travels through time, he discovers his gift can’t always save him from the ups and downs of life.

Del Toro's haunted-house flick to get a new cast member? According to a Variety report, this year's Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (for Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty) is in "final negotiations" to become the latest addition to the cast of filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's haunted-house movie Crimson Peak. If her signature does end up in the dotted line, Chastain will be featured next to Pacific Rim / Queer as Folk's Charlie Hunnam, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug / Star Trek Into Darkness' Benedict Cumberbatch, and one of Chastain's The Help co-stars: Emma Stone. Needless to say, for that to happen all of the aforementioned names must actually end up in the film. As per Justin Kroll's Variety article, the plot of the Legendary Pictures horror film (possibly to be handled by Universal Pictures) remains unknown. Could GdT's latest turn out to be Robert Wise's The Haunting...

Someone has made very good use of their magical powers by bringing Harry Potter‘s Ron Weasley to an American TV series. The news is as delicious as a trip to Honeydukes! Actor Ruper Grint has signed on to star in the CBS comedy, Super Clyde .
Raising Hope‘s Greg Garcia conjured the new series, which means it will be very funny. It follows Grint in the role of an average, run of the mill, hum drum fast-food employee who makes up his mind to become a superhero.
Clyde was described by THR as sweet, but “slightly neurotic”. I’m chuckling already. What are some of his issues? Well, he is always the outside. He adores comic books reader and is kind of “borderline agoraphobic”. As you might guess, this all causes some trouble with anxiety. Poor lad.
Things change for Clyde when he inherits $100,000-a-month from his odd Uncle Bill.

Guillermo Del Toro is still working on his "Pacific Rim" sci-fi film, but has already chosen his next project. Variety has learned that Del Toro will next direct his haunted house thriller "Crimson Peak." Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) is currently in talks to star. Plot details are being kept a secret, but it has been mentioned that the film is a classic ghost story that also makes use of modern conventions. Del Toro and Lucinda Coxon (Wild Target) are currently re-writing the original script, written by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Mimic). The plan is to begin shooting in February of 2014.

Emma Stone is going from battling zombies and gangsters and Ryan Gosling to fighting ghosts in Guillermo del Toro’s new haunted house movie “Crimson Peak”. The actress is said to be “in negotiations” for the film’s female lead, which del Toro will direct from a script he originally co-wrote with Matthew Robbins, who del Toro co-wrote his Hollywood debut “Mimic” with back in the day, and who most recently penned the Del Toro-produced “Afraid of the Dark”. Del Toro is now at work on a new draft of the script with Lucinda Coxon (“Wild Target”). Plot details are unknown at this point, but “Crimson Peak” is being described as a haunted house movie, so you can expect creepy houses and strange noises in the night and Emma Stone walking around dark corridors exploring said strange noises. Preferably in skimpy nightwear. Del Toro is expected to start shooting the...

As the viral marketing starts to kick in for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming movie Pacific Rim, we're finally seeing some evidence that Del Toro is indeed still a filmmaker and that this movie is actually real. The first trailer is scheduled to be released next week, but by the time the movie hits theatres it will have been five years since Hellboy II: The Golden Army. For a guy who has his name attached to so many projects, he hasn't been very successful in closing them off lately. This week he has announced yet another new movie that he intends to direct, but the good news is that there appears to be some momentum behind it. It is a ghost story called Crimson Peak and he intends to make it his next project after Pacific Rim. Hit the jump for more details. According to Deadline, Del Toro will reteam...

Most people are still waiting for their first glimpse at Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim which arrives next summer (we saw some killer footage at Comic-Con), but the director is already looking to his next project, and it's actually one that's been gestating for awhile. As far back as 2008, del Toro was slated to produce a film called Crimson Peak for Universal from a script he wrote with Mimic collaborator Matthew Robbins. Now he's lined up the film as a directing job for Legendary Pictures, the same company behind Pacific Rim. I guess now that Legendary and Warner Bros. have a taste of del Toro's magic, they want him to get comfortable. As for Universal, they can still co-finance at a later date, but it's not longer just their project. Del Toro is supposed to do a rewrite of the script with Lucinda Coxon (Wild Target) and is looking...

Seeking to help poor doctors, Hugh Dancy (Martha Marcy May Marlene) accidentally helps generations upon generations of women in Hysteria.
The comedy movie tells the story of Mortimer Granville, the real-life inventor of the vibrator. A London doctor during the peak of Victorian prudishness, Granville created the electro-mechanical device as a treatment for cases of women’s hysteria, characterized by irritability, anger or unexplained tears, which had previously been cured through doctors … ahem … massaging their female clients by hand.
Directed by Tanya Wexler (Ball in the House), the R-rated film also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal (Nanny McPhee Returns), Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Felicity Jones (Like Crazy), Rupert Everett (Wild Target) and Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’s Diary).
Hysteria screened in a limited number of theaters, but the DVD and Blu-ray give the movie its biggest audience.

Though acting turns outside of the Harry Potter franchise from Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) in films like Driving Lessons, Cherrybomb and Wild Target haven't exactly been as easily recognized as co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in The Woman in Black and My Week with Marilyn respectively, that doesn't mean the red-haired Brit is giving up on acting just yet. In fact, Variety has word that Grint has locked down two new fairly high profile projects with the Shia Labeouf led thriller The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and the underground music scene drama Cbgb, based on the NYC club of the same name. Grint has yet to prove himself as a viable star outside of Harry Potter, but I think he has some real talent in him. He might be more suited for comedy, but it sounds like these two roles are a little more serious. In The Necessary...

Chloe Moretz and Harry Potter's Rupert Grint are joining helmer Randall Miller's "The Drummer," an indie music biopic about Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson, according to Variety.
Moretz is in final negotiations to play Wilson's daughter Jennifer, who is co-producing the film, along with her half-brother Carl. Grint will play Stan Shapiro, a mail room intern at William Morris, who befriended Wilson during the last few years of the musician's life.
The film which will centre on the last six years of Wilson's life before his death in 1983, is set to begin production in mid June, and also stars Vera Fermiga as Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie, and Aaron Eckhart as Wilson.
Having recently starred seen in Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed 3D fantasy epic Hugo, Chloe will next be seen in Tim Burton’s adaptation of Dark Shadows set for release this coming May.

Filming on the new series of Doctor Who has started, and already the reports are trickling in about who's lining up to be in Who. And guess what, two Harry Potter alumni have signed on the dotted line, namely Mark Williams (who played Ronald Weasley's dad) and David Bradley, Aka perma-surly, scraggly mullet head caretaker Argus Filch, a chap who finds it physically impossible to crack a smile.
These two acting giants add to the list of Harry Potter actors in the last couple of years – Toby Jones. Helen McRory. Michael Gambon. Don't forget David Tennant. Give it a couple of years and Daniel Radcliffe will be cast as the 12th Doctor. All this Potter casting got me thinking though – could the popularity of the Harry Potter series have helped the renaissance of Doctor Who back in the early Noughties?
But by and large, these films are a modern marvel.

With Pottermania after coming to an end, many wonder will the cast succeed post wizardry. While Daniel Radcliffe has The Woman in Black out next, I reckon Grint has the potential to be more successful, albeit in the supporting role genre. His performance in Wild Target was quite strong, and set the foundations for something bigger and better. With that, here we have a trailer for Into The White, which to be honest, I hadn’t heard of until I read about it this evening. Essentially the story of a bunch of World War II pilots on German and English sides, who get shot down and have to share a cabin. It doesn’t have a distributor outside of Norway (out next March, travel fans) as of yet, and the idea looks interesting enough. And while its unlikely this will catapult Grint into super stardom (again) it would be nice...

Of the trio of young actors who've led the cast of the multi-billion pound Harry Potter franchise over the past 10 years, Rupert Grint seems to have been least affected by the avalanche of attention.
Daniel Radcliffe recently admitted he'd crumbled under the pressures of fame and become dependent on alcohol, while Emma Watson admits she fights hard to maintain her autonomy in the face of an A-list lifestyle.
Perhaps this is why, while Radcliffe is currently singing and dancing up a storm on Broadway in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Watson (whose shorn locks show she's happily rid of Hermione Granger) is plotting to continue her education at Oxford this autumn, Grint appears less eager to move on.
Taking a breath, he admits he's devastated the whole experience has come to an end.

The Case(s): This week, I've decided to perform mini-assessments of a preliminary nature on the three main actors of the nearly-concluded Harry Potter film franchise. While the entire trio has only reached their early 20s in age, they've each been acting for over half of their lives, so it's worth a mild guessing game at whether or not they'll stick around in the long term. The main problem we're tackling here was adeptly described by Brian Prisco in his review of Welcome to the Rileys in reference to Kristen Stewart and James Gandolfini:
For most actors, getting a regular gig on a television show or a film series is a boon, because essentially you can make enough money that you will never have to work again.
