Perfume Genius has announced Immediately Remixes, a companion LP to his recent album Set My Heart on Fire Immediately, out February 19th via Matador.
The new album boasts remixes by A.G. Cook, Jim-e Stack, Jenny Hval, and others. “I’m very honored to have all these incredible musicians rework these songs,” Perfume Genius’ Mike Hadreas said in a statement. “I felt personally remixed listening to their versions, hearing the spirit of my song completely transformed was very magical. Each one feels like a little portal to a fucked-up shared world.

Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson is one of the funniest sketch comedy shows out there. Here are its funniest twelve sketches to check out.
“Without question, Itysl is still Netflix’s most successful sketch comedy series to date, and it gives both up-and-coming talent and recognizable faces a platform to flex their most deranged comedic muscles.”

One-hit wonders in popular music rarely get the appreciation they’re due. Today, let’s celebrate some of the most memorable ones.
“There’s nothing nobler in popular music than being a one-hit wonder. Let the Madonnas, Drakes, and Mariah Careys of the world fill their homes with platinum plaques. Only those artists who manage to crack the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 exactly once know the true meaning of pop music, an ephemeral art form rooted in fads and fleeting pleasures.”

A pop savant whose vision keeps getting more all-encompassing as he keeps making records, Mike Hadreas (a.k.a. Perfume Genius) has delivered his most ambitious music yet on his fifth LP. Back at the dawn of the 2010s, he drew notice with music that had the muted, willful intensity of bedroom recordings, but he’s been operating on a much grander scale for a while now, swerving between genres with Prince-like ease. This time, he brings on seasoned session veterans like drummers Jim Keltner and Matt Chamberlain and bassist...

Last night, Nicole Kidman was up for a Golden Globe for her performance as Sue Brierley in Garth Davis’ “Lion,” the story of an adopted Indian who searches for his lost family as an adult. She’s set to appear in Sofia Coppola’s new film “The Beguiled,” as well as Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” and John Cameron Mitchell’s “How to Talk to Girls at Parties,” but she’s already in talks to appear in yet another film: an English-language remake of the 2011 French film “The Intouchables.”

Best Drama Series
Nominees:
“The Crown” (Netflix)
“Game of Thrones” (HBO)
“Stranger Things” (Netflix)
“This Is Us” (NBC)
“Westworld” (HBO)
Will Win: “The Crown”
Could Win: “This Is Us”
Should Win: “The Crown”
A new champion will be crowned, and we’re betting on Netflix royalty. After the 2016 winner, “Mr. Robot,” missed the cut in 2017, the doors were thrown open, as four freshman dramas stepped in for their shot at Best Drama Series. The two HBO entries may split the vote, considering they appeal to an identical demographic, and “This Is Us” feels a bit too sentimental for the dark taste of the HFPA. Though “Stranger Things” has the buzz, Netflix made “The Crown” to bring home the gold. So odds are the network’s weight is behind its prestige period piece.

Leave it to the Brits! The BAFTA nominations were announced and they gave us a slightly different look at the awards season! For instance, Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight," the leading Oscar contender in the U.S. just received 3 noms including Best Film, Supporting Actor for Mark Ruffalo and Original Screenplay. No Director nomination for McCarthy.
Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg's "Bridge of Spies," a handsomely-produced period piece led the pack along with Todd Haynes' "Carol," another handsomely-produced period piece. Both films garnered nine nominations each including Best Picture. "Bridge of Spies" and "Carol" will duke it out with "Spotlight," Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu's "The Revenant" (eight nominations), and Adam McKay's "The Big Short" (five nominations) for the Best Picture trophy.
So where's "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" you ask? They're relegated to the technical categories. Apparently, sequels, no matter how great they are, can't compete with originals.

From Assassin’s Creed to The Witcher, via Mass Effect, Minecraft and maybe more Warcraft...
Latest update: Uncharted delayed.
In the years since Den Of Geek first sprung into existence, we’ve consistently kept an eye on the videogames that have been touted for the big screen treatment. We’ve tried to list them all in a big article a few times before, and it feels like the time has come to pull a new version together.
If we haven’t heard anything about a certain videogame movie in two years or more, it seems safe to assume that it’s quietly been binned. That’s why you won’t find the likes of BioShock, Devil May Cry, Far Cry, Gears Of War, Halo, Heavy Rain and Rollercoaster Tycoon on this list. If we get proven wrong on any of those, we’ll update this article as more information comes to light.

Hannibal, Sneaky Pete, Tennison, and other TV shows have all made recent TV show news by being renewed for an additional season, cancelled, or had additional episode orders. These shows air on NBC, Netflix, and ITV.
Hannibal (NBC)
NBC will not be ordering another course of “Hannibal.”
The network has canceled the drama, which is currently in its third season.
For its most recent airing, “Hannibal” drew an anemic 0.5 rating/2 share in the 18-49 demographic most important to advertisers, tying the previous week’s series low.
Did show creator Bryan Fuller hint that the show might continue somewhere else:
‘Hannibal’ is finishing his last course at NBC’s table this summer, but a hungry cannibal can always dine again. And personally, I look forward to my next meal with NBC.”

The Emmys honor the best performances on television, but the telecast is all about celebrating the best speeches. Here’s how we called it:
1. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, Lead Actor in a Drama Series: It was Cranston’s night. He had the perfect amount of humility (“Even I thought about voting for Matthew”), humor (“I love you, especially those scenes in bed,” he told Anna Gunn) and inspiration (find your passion, Sneaky Petes).
2. Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lead Actress in a Comedy: Leave it to Louis-Dreyfus, who took home her third consecutive Emmy for Veep, to keep things fresh.

Melissa Maerz: Jeff,
When the Emmy nominations were announced this morning, I was sitting at my desk, shouting, “Hodor! Hodor! Hodor!” Game of Thrones dominated with 19 nominations! Hot pie for everyone! I’d quibble with the fact that Noah Hawley’s fantastic update of Fargo didn’t get a best drama nod, especially since it was the runner-up with 18 nominations, and The Good Wife was unjustly ignored in that category, coming off its best season ever—it might be the only network drama that I truly loved—but the rest of the list was pretty solid. Deadline has announced that, with flagrant disregard for what made the original source material so great, FX has put a sequel TV series to American Psycho in development. There have long been rumours of a remake on the cards, even though the original adaptation didn’t actually come out that long ago, but it seems like a TV series – if unsuccessful – would scotch any idea of that. If the American Psycho TV series went on to Breaking Bad levels of quality and infamy, then obviously a remake would become extremely likely.
The show comes courtesy of FX and Lionsgate TV, the televisual arm of Lionsgate Films (duh), distributors of the 2000 original. Former head of production at Lionsgate-turned producer Allison Shearmur, along with writer Stefan Jaworski, plan to strip away the central metaphor of the novel by removing it from its 1980′s period setting and setting it in the modern day.

Little is actually known about Breaking Bad Season 5 - the only clips released so far are brief and vague in nature, with Jesse lying under a table and Hank behind the wheel - but that doesn't make us less excited for the concluding run of television's best drama.

Well, it’s that time of year again. As shows start airing their season finales, the world is nevertheless abuzz with TV-related news and hype. The upfronts mean that everyone is attempting to gear up for next season, and viewers are hopefully finding shows that they can look forward to. And, it’s award time. After the brief rest since the movie awards were the big thing on everyone’s mind, now we kick into TV awards.
The Btja (of which I am a member) announced their nominees today for the Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
And you know what that means. That’s right, just like during movie awards season, it is now time to cheer on your favorites, and gripe about the snubs and odd choices. Frankly, I find a few odd selections in here myself, and I have a decent list of snubs, some of which stagger the imagination.

With "Parks and Recreation" star Chris Pratt confirmed for Star-Lord and Jason Momoa of "Game of Thrones" fame in talks to go green as Drax the Destroyer, it looks as if the big-screen adaptation of "Guardians of the Galaxy" is going to be filled with popular actors from the disparate worlds of television dramas and comedies. With that in mind, we're going to take a crack at casting the rest of the main squad, pulling one name from each genre.
Rocket Raccoon – Aziz Ansari or Bryan Cranston
There are two ways a short, anthropomorphic, wise-cracking, laser-wielding raccoon in militaristic garb can go, and Ansari and Cranston embody those two ways. With Ansari, Pratt's fellow "Parks and Rec" star, Rocket would be the fast-talking comic relief. With Cranston, the terrifyingly intense Walter White on "Breaking Bad," Rocket's humor would derive from the take-no-prisoners growl coming out of a cute little snout.

The RoboCop remake. Booo. Blah blah blah. The end. [You need more than that, - Ed.]. Fine. RoboCop remake – yeah, you know the one. You may know it from the anticipation that it inspires in your household during conversations similar to “Oh, they’re remaking RoboCop? Please pass the salt. What were you saying?” Yeah, you could say I’m not really keen on this remake. Perhaps unfairly so. But I doubt it. Have you not watched the video I made where I dressed up like Chris Crocker and cried “Leave RoboCop alone!” (24 views and counting, natch)?
Anyway, the fucking RoboCop remake keeps casting pretty awesome people. First up, it cast Gary Oldman. I love him. Then it cast Sam Jackson. I love him like I do my father – in a vaguely terrified fashion. Then Abbie Cornish. Again, great. Now, THR is reporting, it may be casting Hugh Laurie.

Here's the full list of winners from the 2012 Golden Globes, and our thoughts on what won...
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has rarely been a reliable indicator of excellence over the years with its Golden Globes awards, particularly with regards movies, but its 69th giving out of gongs seemed to get a lot of things right, and pointed towards some likely Oscar winners, too.
For instance, the battle for Best Picture is now a two horse race between The Descendants and The Artist, a pair of film that both took home a top prize from the gongs. Likewise, George Clooney and Meryl Streep look good bets for the top acting prizes, Woody Allen’s screenplay award should be replicated at the Oscars, and don’t be surprised if the supporting acting gongs go to Octavia Spencer and Christopher Plummer.

Another year has come and gone and with it passes another year of movies, good and bad, but today we focus on the best films to have hit theaters in 2011. Kerry Washington has been cast in Django Unchained. Kerry Washington being cast in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained (2012) ends the speculation on who would play the pivotal female role in the western film. Kerry Washington will play Broomhilda, the wife of Django (Jamie Foxx). Kerry Washington had long been rumored as the frontrunner for the role. Now its a done deal.
More Kerry Washington’s casting in Django Unchained and how her character fits into the western movie:
Director Quentin Tarantino made his choice and The Weinstein Company began exclusive negotiations with her CAA reps last night. She’ll play the long-suffering slave wife of Django (Jamie Foxx), who is freed by a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) and taught the tricks of that trade. Django’s real desire is to be reunited with his wife, who winds up in a variety of unsavory places and whose travails drive the plot.

Don Johnson has been cast in Django Unchained. Don Johnson being cast in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained (2012) illuminates another character in the western movie. Don Johnson will be playing “Spencer Bennett, a plantation owner who runs a string of ‘ponies’ — that is, pretty, young female slaves. It’s not a big role, but Johnson will get to factor in to one of the film’s early sequences as Django (Jamie Foxx) and dentist turned bounty hunter King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) begin their association.”
More on the plot of Django Unchained:
Jamie Foxx is the freed slave Django. With the German dentist turned bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), he kills white slave-runners and then tries to free his wife Broomhilda (not yet cast) from bigshot slaver Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), [a Mississippi plantation owner].
Django Unchained also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, Gerald McRaney, M.C. Gainey, Treat Williams,...

Fans of the AMC show "Breaking Bad" saw a gruesome end to one of the main characters when Season 4 ended Sunday night.
Appropriately titled "Face Off," the season finale offered closure for a long battle between drug kingpin Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) and mild-mannered chemistry teacher-turned-ruthless meth cook Walter White (Bryan Cranston) when Gus is finally put in a body bag.
"I knew they couldn't stretch out the story line too much longer," co-star Aaron Paul told "Extra's" Maria Menounos.

Bryan Cranston, whose film career has gone ballistic since taking on the role of Walter White in AMC's 'Breaking Bad,' is in talks to join 'World War Z,' a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Brad Pitt.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cranston's part is small but flashy, which we don't doubt since the actor has such a full schedule: He's just finished 'Drive,' 'Contagion,' 'Leave,' 'Red Tails' and 'John Carter' and is working on 'Rock of Ages,' 'Total Recall' and 'Argo.' Whew!
'World War Z' is an adaptation of Max Brooks' 2006 novel, 'World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War,' in which a Un representative conducts first-person interviews with survivors of the great zombie war that almost wiped out humankind.

SNL often lures lovable hosts that it doesn’t know how to work with. Take Jane Lynch or Bryan Cranston, who led lackluster episodes earlier this season, or Helen Mirren, who spent last night’s show vacillating between exactly two types of characters: haughty Brits and vulgar battle-axes. In fact, the episode felt so procedural that it may as well have been a lost episode of Prime Suspect. I’m drawing a chalk outline around the whole thing. Let’s rack up the (very relatively) best and (very obviously) worst sketches:

The first thing I heard about Happy Town was that it was going to be a show like Twin Peaks and something about a guy called the Magic Man. Seemed kind of interesting but for whatever reason I never watched the hour-long drama. When I heard that Happy Town was cancelled after just two episodes, I wanted to checkout the show. Since it seems ABC never gave it a chance, I wanted to give a quick recap of the first episode and I've also sprinkled in some reasons that in my humble opinion made it hard for Happy Town to find an audience.
In this home on ice... there is murder.
The episode starts off with a girl walking through the woods, she has just left her young lover and is taking a shortcut home. Suddenly she hears screaming, a man screaming. Following the sound, she sees two men fighting...
