Director: Stuart Gordon | Stars: Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ted Sorel, Ken Foree

Votes: 30,777 | Gross: $1.26M

Directed by Stuart Gordon, and with his unmistakable style very apparent here. Very loosely based on a short story, by H.P. Lovecraft. Many of the cast from the successful, 'Re-animator'-(1985), appear again. Notably, Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton. In this body horror outing, scientists using a device, called 'The Resonator', stimulate the Penial gland, which results in seeing creatures from another dimension. For fans of gory 80s style makeup and effects, this is a must. Stuart Gordon had to trim the film down for the ratings board but has subsequently been released on DVD in a restored, unrated version. Fans of Stuart Gordon and 80s gore, won't be disappointed.

Either you love it or you hate it, movie. One thing is for sure, it's unique. There is so much on display here, campy, weird, funny, Sean Connery in a red nappy, etc. etc. An interesting film addressing a vast aray of issues. Mesmerizing in it's own way. The title derives from: The Wi(zard) of (Oz).

Votes: 3,041

Be careful what you wish for. Robert Powell plays Sir Hugo Cunningham. A man in search of immortality by capturing the 'Spirit of the Dead' or 'Asphyx' before entering the body. His obsession results in dire consequences, of course. A gem of a film that is atmospheric as well as eerie. One can see a great deal of attention went into the art direction and props. A parable on the consequences of playing God.

Votes: 29,356 | Gross: $6.25M

Another true cult movie, present on many greatest cult movie lists. W.D. Richter directs here; an action, adventure, romantic, science-fiction spoof. Featuring, the adventures of the multi-talented, physicist, neurosurgeon and rock musician, Buckaroo Banzai. Played by Peter Weller. Written, over the course of some time, by Earl Mac Rauch. A film one is inclined to either love or despise, depending on the viewer. A treat for fans though, is the DVD released in 2002, generating great reviews for it's treatment of the material. I cannot help but suspect, that a sequel or remake will go into production, sometime soon. In a nutshell, a great piece of entertainment.

Director: Stuart Gordon | Stars: Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Barbara Crampton, David Gale

Votes: 71,533 | Gross: $2.02M

Stuart Gordon's cult horror/science-fiction movie. So much to like here: plenty of gore, black humour and Jeffrey Combs hamming it up, beautifully, as Herbert West. Stealing every scene that he's in. Not forgetting David Gale, as Dr. Carl Hill, with sinister plans of his own. Freely adapted from a H.P. Lovecraft story. This is a very entertaining film for fans of this type of movie. A homage to films like, 'Frankenstein'-(1931)
