Robin Williams will always be remembered as one of the most prolific actors that Hollywood has ever seen. He was a one-of-a-kind performer, who stood apart with his performances, establishing himself as a comedy legend. Throughout his career, the actor has done a plethora of iconic films such as Aladdin, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, and many more.
Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society
The world remembered Williams as an outstanding performer, doing stand-up comedy, films, and TV shows. However, the Popeye actor would consider himself a gamer at heart as he was addicted to gaming, and he was a huge Cod and Counter-Strike fan. The actor would spend hours in front of the screen, as he not only found gaming to be relaxing but also quite deflating as he got humbled by an 11-year-old.

In 2002, Robin Williams and Al Pacino shared screen space in Christopher Nolan’s psychological thriller Insomnia. Compared to Nolan’s famed works, this film remained a very underrated one, but became a cult classic over the years. More significantly, it saw Williams in a completely different avatar as a scheming killer, which was a far cry from his comedic turns.

The casting of the two Oscar winners who were diametrically different in their styles and methods may have seemed like a risky proposition when it came to their working relationship on set. But the Mrs Doubtfire star tapped into his trademark witty humor to break the ice with Pacino in hilarious fashion.

To celebrate Mrs. Doubtfire turning 30, director Chris Columbus shared insight into the making of the classic film starring comedy legend Robin Williams.
During an interview with Business Insider published Tuesday, Columbus revealed that William improvised so much during the making of the 1993 classic that nearly 2 million feet of film was shot.
Following the success of Good Morning, Vietnam — which resulted in Williams’ first Oscar nomination, for Best Actor — the actor starred in a slew of movies in a variety of roles including Dead Poets Society, Awakenings, The Fisher King, and Aladdin,...

Some people have truly strange responses when it comes to different types of Star Trek. Time and time again, some new Star Trek movie or series will come out and, time and time again, some Star Trek fan will say it’s not real Trek.
That ol’ chestnut came up again when Twitter user @jacoby09 expressed excitement for Star Trek: Picard season 3, but also noted “rumblings from within a portion of the fandom about ‘real Trek‘ being back.” Picard showrunner Terry Matalas picked up on that observation and added some needed context. “I remember when [The Next Generation] wasn’t real Trek,” Matalas wrote, recalling the fan backlash to every 90s and early 2000s series. “It’s fantastic to be excited for a return to the old tone here, but there can and should be many different kinds of Treks.”
I remember when Tng wasn't real Trek. Then DS9. Then Voyager. Then Enterprise.

Exclusive: Heather Kadin is going out on her own. After 12 years of running a TV production company, Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and its predecessor, Kurtzman and Bob Orci’s K/O Paper Products, as President of Television, Kadin is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Her exit is still being finalized, and it is unclear yet whether Kadin would continue as an executive producer on Secret Hideout’s projects in development, which she has shepherded.
“Heather and I have spent 12 extraordinary years together, and in that time she’s been a brilliant creative force whose passion and dedication have been felt by the many writers and directors we work with at Secret Hideout,” Kurtzman said. “I’m certain she’ll carry that passion into the next phase of her amazing career, I’m so grateful for the time we’ve shared, and I wish her every success and happiness on her bright road ahead.

Kid Rock expected a wild ride with Robin Williams that December week in 2007, and he wasn’t disappointed. In the era of #MeToo, in which women are finally being given a voice against sexual predators, a movie about a false rape accusation feels like a tough sell. Brian Banks is an earnestly told true story of criminal injustice focusing on Banks (a terrific Aldis Hodge in a bust-out performance), a junior at Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California, who’s headed to USC on a scholarship and a future NFL career as a linebacker. That future evaporates when Banks is wrongly accused of sexual assault by fellow...

Having brain-screamed at yet another driver blowing through a stop sign at 30 miles per hour in my quiet, child-filled residential neighborhood, I got to wondering: Whatever happened to Garp?
Released 37 years ago, in the summer of 1982, George Roy Hill’s film version of John Irving’s novel The World According to Garp seemed to define the absurd universe for many of us now of a certain age. And then suddenly, it was gone.
We still quote The Godfather. We apologize for Pretty Woman. We endlessly remake Star Wars.
But somehow Garp, with all of its crazy lessons about “lunacy and sorrow,” didn’t quite stick. When Robin Williams, who starred as T. S. Garp, died five years ago, the movie earned one-third a sentence in his New York Times obituary. It shared that smidgen of literary space with Popeye and Mork & Mindy, though Garp, which gave Williams his second major film role,...

The controversial film, based on a true story, is about a 16 year old football player who All-American high school football star who finds his life upended when he is wrongly convicted of a crime he didn’t commit, sent to prison after going through the broken legal system. Aldis Hodge stars as the titular Brian Banks, with a cast including Greg Kinnear, Melanie Liburd, Tiffany Dupont, Sherri Shepherd, Matt Battaglia, Xosha Roquemore, Dorian Missick, and Dean Denton. As her own acting career gets underway, Zelda Williams is relying on the advice of her late father, Robin Williams. The 29-year-old actress recently spoke about Robin's words of wisdom in an interview with Et while promoting her upcoming movie Shrimp during the Tribeca TV Festival. "It was always, you know, be kind, work very hard," Zelda said.
Zelda also expressed a gripe about competing personalities in the industry, and how ego can often get in the way of a project. "I think the concept of ego has kind of taken over for a lot of people in our industry," she said. "Truthfully, you're not your audience so all that self-consciousness and all that - it gets in the way of you actually just being the best thing in whatever thing that you're doing."

First off, there's more amazing TV coming to Netflix in March than we've seen in the past six, with new seasons of "Mad Men," "Glee," and "Archer" coming to the streaming service. What's more? The complete series of "3rd Rock From the Sun" (Yes!) and "A Different World" are also being added. For the latter, I plan on queueing up some "very special episodes" that remind me of my childhood. Also, Marisa Tomei was on it. Remember?! In addition to the shows you know, some spankin' new Netflix Originals are being added: Tina Fey's half-hour comedy "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," starring "The Office's" Ellie Kemper, and "Bloodline," a dramatic thriller starring Oscar-winner Sissy Spacek.
In terms of movies, Netflix is not disappointing. Recent releases...

The video tribute pays homage to some of Williams’ most memorable lines from films ranging from hit comedies like “Mrs. Doubtfire” to acclaimed dramas such as “Dead Poets Society” and “Good Will Hunting.” TheWrap's class clown Jeff Sneider even dared to follow in Williams’ cinematic footsteps by performing Armand's flamboyant dance from “The Birdcage.” Other films excerpted include “Good Morning, Vietnam,” “Aladdin,” “Patch Adams” and “One Hour Photo,” as well as the TV series “Mork & Mindy,” which launched Williams to stardom. Everyone at TheWrap will miss Williams dearly, though he'll live on in our hearts and movie memories forever. Enjoy,...

Taking care of some promotional duties, Emma Roberts attended the Twentieth Century Fox shindig with beau Evan Peters and costar Sarah Paulson at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday (July 26).
The “Adult World” babe sported a Fifth top and Bec and Bridge skirt as she hammed it up for the cameras alongside the “Patch Adams” stunner outside Pizzeria Mozza.
Earlier in the day, Emma, Evan and Sarah all showed up at a panel discussion during which the new cast for “American Horror Story: Freak Show” season was announced.
On the roster this time around will be stars like Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Michael Chiklis and Jessica Lange.

There was a certain point in history, somewhere between The Simpsons and Daria, when TV animation ceased to be the sole provenance of kids drooling over their morning bowls of Lucky Charms. These days, cartoons for grown-ups are not only ubiquitous, but hilariously twisted and high-quality to boot — and that's due in large part to a phenomenon called Adult Swim. What began as a freaky little block of late-night programming has evolved into a vast, even-freakier universe of animated and live-action series with a sardonic, absurdist sense of humor that's...

It may be a formulaic knockabout comedy, but beneath the surface of this early Jim Carrey outing lurks a compelling honesty and an important life lesson
Courtrooms and curses: two anchoring Hollywood notions. Audiences love a courtroom drama. And they'll buy in to a curse any curse, from a body swap to a distasteful compulsion or an unwanted power as long as there's an adorable kid involved in its conception or application.
I like to think that when screenwriters Paul Guay and Stephen Mazur first sketched out Liar Liar, they'd just emerged from back-to-back screenings of To Kill a Mockingbird and Big, or maybe Twelve Angry Men and Vice Versa (a film from 1988, should you be unfamiliar with it, in which Fred Savage, with the help of a magical Buddhist skull, curses Judge Reinhold to spend a week as a preteen). We don't write off the musical/comedy races at the Golden Globes, per se, but we're rarely excited about them either. Those are the categories that have nominated "Patch Adams," "Burlesque," and "The Tourist," after all. But even when the nominees aren't quite so dubious, they're usually not the main event; we usually find our top Oscar contenders competing as dramas. Not so this year, when the musical/comedy race is arguably even more crowded than drama. How did that happen? Sometimes studios try to take advantage of the less crowded category by passing off borderline dramatic films as laffers, and sometimes those placements pay off in nominations ("Hyde Park on Hudson," "My Week with Marilyn") or wins ("The Kids Are All Right"), so if anyone so much as cracks a smile in your movie, the musical/comedy field might be worth a shot. (That, alas, rules out "12 Years a Slave.

Just a silly comedy? There might be more to Mrs. Doubtfire than it's given credit for...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
This article contains spoilers for Mrs. Doubtfire.
If you dig through the box office takings for the films of Robin Williams, then - taking aside his supporting performance in Night At The Museum - his most lucrative movie at the Us box office remains 1993's Mrs. Doubtfire. Inflation-adjusted, it tops the list.
The movie was released in the aftermath of Disney's record-breaking Aladdin (and followed the fascinatingly flawed Toys), and in the years that followed, Williams would enjoy a bunch of further hits, including the likes of Jumanji, The Birdcage (two films that passed $100 million at the Us box office on the same weekend), Patch Adams, and Flubber. He'd nab an Oscar in the midst of that run for Good Will Hunting,...

The Us is full of iconic filming locations … ideal for a road trip. From Alaska to Texas here are 10 of our favourite movie sights
Chicago
The Lake House (2006)
So many Chicago hotspots were showcased in this movie – the Picasso sculpture in Daley Plaza, Michigan Avenue, Grant Park, the bridges over the Chicago river. One scene takes Kate (Sandra Bullock) on a walking tour, past stunning examples of local architecture. Christopher Plummer, who plays Alex's (Keanu Reeves) architect father, has one of my favourite lines. He says the most important quality in architecture is "always the light. Always." Take an architecture tour for your own light-filled experience.
• Also filmed in the area: Sixteen Candles, The Untouchables, Source Code, Couples Retreat, The Break-Up
Seattle
The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989)
The scenes in this movie that were filmed in Belltown, Pioneer Square and the Roosevelt Hotel all pull you into this great Pacific Northwest city.

New York -- The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is known for what you could call a certain quirkiness in its selection process. Anyone that would see fit to nominate "Patch Adams" and "The Tourist" for best picture certainly marches to its own beat.
But in the nominations announced Thursday, the Golden Globes didn't throw too many wrinkles into the awards season horse race leading up to the Academy Awards (which has had its own questionable choices in the past). Still, in parsing the nominations, there were some intriguing surprises as well as some inevitable questions, most notably: Salmon fishing where?
Yemen. The answer is Yemen. Yes, Lasse Hallstrom's romantic comedy "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" reeled in three unlikely nominations: best picture, comedy or musical; Emily Blunt for best actress, comedy or musical; and Ewan McGregor for best actor, comedy or musical. The film, which had a small run in theaters in the spring,...

A 16-year-old girl named Sophie is in to be treated for a case of gonorrhea, the eighth girl from her high school to come in with the same ailment recently. After she gets done treating her, including a shot and talk about the necessity of condoms, Emily talks to a nurse about informing someone of the outbreak. The nurse tells someone from the local health department, who then talks to Dr. Bandari about sending someone to give a safe sex lecture at the high school the next day. Being that Emily was the one that brought the issue to everyone's attention, Dr. Bandari volunteers her to do it and all but tells her that if she doesn't take part, her life at Denver Memorial will become even more hellish than it had been.

I've been a fan of Adult Swim since Cartoon Network launched the platform in 2001 (believe it or not, it really is that old), and have witnessed the programming block go through lots of changes -- first adding high-profile off-network acquisitions like Futurama and Family Guy, and making a notable transition away from animated programming. With the second change, Adult Swim has become one of the most significant television venues for American comedy, all the while establishing itself as a meta-spoof on the formal constraints of TV networks, right down to its most recent live-action series, each of which employ genre parody in some very novel ways.
As Adult Swim has matured, it has positioned itself as a broken mirror version of a television network, with skewed detective dramas (Eagleheart), reality fare taken to its most absurd extreme (Delocated), and even a bizarre riff on late night talk (The Eric Andre Show...

If you’re going to set your horror/thriller in a single building you can do far worse than an insane asylum. The inmates add an automatic degree of creepiness and uncertainty to the proceedings that most other locations can’t match. From Asylum to Shutter Island, from Alone In the Dark to Patch Adams, these are inherently frightening movies made scarier by the wackos roaming the halls. Which brings us to The Incident. But since that title apparently didn’t catch on after its Tiff premiere it’s been renamed to the very literal (yet nonsensical) Asylum Blackout. A trio of friends trying to make it as a band earn their living as cooks at a remote asylum for the criminally insane. They cook and serve meals from beyond a large and secure plexiglass window, but when the power goes out one night the institution’s electronic locks and security system all fail releasing the inmates...

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence appeared on the cover of Germany’s Interview magazine wearing a super sexy low cut corsette studded with precious stones! Wait a second: pantsless, sparkly and uber hot…has Jennifer been raiding Rihanna’s closet? With the record breaking weekend Thg had at the box office, you’d think that Jennifer could afford to live in diamond encrusted clothes. But apparently she’s yet to get that insanely massive payday. “When I get my first real check, I want to bathe in a pool full of pasta,” she says. Kind of like that woman from Patch Adams?
Although she’s become known around the world as the butt-kicking Katniss Everdeen, Lawrence says she wants to take on a slightly different role. “I want to be Bridget Jones,” she told the magazine. We totally see it! Maybe a Bridget Jones prequel is in order? It’ll...

Two insufferable hours of sanctimonious Hollywood mush, Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close topped my “Ten Worst” of 2011 because it aimed so high and had so far to fall. It’s easy to dump on a lame comedy like Jack And Jill, but Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, a self-important look at one boy’s experience with the 9-11 tragedy, is a picture obviously tailor-made for Academy Award consideration, but it’s a crass sap-a-thon (or sappy crapathon) that indulges to the hilt every obnoxious feel-good quality imaginable, a saccharine nightmare that you may find yourself trapped in should you not heed my warning: ….It’s simply the worst….movie…..ever!
Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close tells the story of 12-year-old Oskar Schell, whose father was killed in the 9-11 tragedy. Oskar’s Jewish jeweler dad (Tom Hanks) is shown in flashbacks trying to focus his socially-challenged son’s mind by sending him on scavenger hunts,...

Congratulations, 2012 Golden Globe nominees, you can hold your head high knowing that you now have something in common with 'Patch Adams.' No one can ever take that away from you. It's quite an honor. (And, yes, 'Patch Adams' really was nominated for a Golden Globe.) You see, the reason the Golden Globes are not the most respected awards is because it's voted on by a very small group of foreign (ahem) journalists who have been known to be susceptible to, let's say, (ahem) outside influences that may or may not determine what gets a nomination.

TheWB.com original web series turned Adult Swim television hit Childrens Hospital is tearing up the Nielsen ratings for its Thursday 12Am time slot, especially among the coveted 18 - 34 year-old adults demo. The program created by and starring Rob Corddry alongside a stellar cast of traditional and alt comedians (including Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, Henry Winkler, and others) and one helluva laundry list of guest stars (like Jon Hamm, Michael Cera, and Sarah Silverman, among others) is tearing up those Nielsen ratings so well, in fact, Adult Swim ordered another 14 episodes. The announcement ensures the dysfunctional group of doctors - who walk the halls of Dr. Arthur Childrens’ hospital and practice a special kind of Patch Adams meets General Hospital meets Eli Roth brand of medicine guided by a grotesque interpretation of the Hippocratic Oath - will be around for a fourth season. Part of the fun in watching "Children's Hospital" is keeping a running tally on the number of actors in it who are alumnus of the best comedies of the last decade: "Arrested Development," (Michael Cera, Henry Winkler) "Party Down," (Ken Marino, Megan Mullaly, Adam Scott) "Parks and Recreation," (Mullally, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott) "The Daily Show," (Rob Corddry, Ed Helms) and "The League" (Paul Scheer, Nick Kroll). Given the common thread of David Wain to most of the cast and guest stars, it's only a matter of time before Michael Ian Black and Paul Rudd show up, and Jon Hamm -- because he's obligated to cameo in everything that's truly funny these days -- already has.
"Children's Hospital" is an unrelentingly funny stew of those aforementioned shows, combining their wacky absurdist sense of humor and an obsession with vagina metaphors with skewering parody of hospital shows, most tellingly "Grey's Anatomy,...

No trailer can please all of the X-Men fanboys and girls all of the time, but it was interesting to see how divisive the "X-Men: First Class" trailer and all of its scenes were for the comics community yesterday. Some loves the '60s feel; some thought it wasn't '60s enough.

The Heart Specialist is a likeable and sincere comedy centered around the friendship of two doctors. Arriving from Boston with a nearly-minted heartbreak and an embarrassing pin-up calendar spread, Ray “Glucose Ray” Howard (Brian White) is finishing his residency as an on-call intern at a Southern Florida Hmo run hospital that is less prestigious than his medical school, which, of course, is Harvard. He is befriended and shown the ropes by Dr. Sidney Zachary (Wood Harris), who instills a level of compassion in Ray, which he would be impossible to learn from the business model of Dr. Z’s supervisor, Dr. Graves (Scott Pauline) pushes.

Chicago – Regardless of its exotic locales, “Off the Map” may benefit from a few more diversions. Everything about this fresh-faced ABC drama feels instantly familiar. Creator and “Grey’s Anatomy” producer Jenna Bans essentially takes the “Grey’s” formula and transports it to the jungles of South America, which are considerably more “Mash”-like than McDreamy.
Of course, there aren’t many locations more inherently intense and fascinating than a medical clinic in a third world country. The best moments in the early episodes of “Map” are the ones in which the doctors come up with improvised procedures to save their patients by utilizing organic elements from their surrounding environment. If you’ve never witnessed (or heard of) a “coconut transfusion,” you will have by the end of episode one.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0
Yet the excitement factor on “Map” is distressingly low. The endless “life or death” situations emerge like clockwork and quickly grow repetitive.

Dr. Blake Downs will walk through halls of Dr. Arthur Childrens' hospital, embodying a bizarro Hippocratic oath and dispensing his special kind of Patch Adams health care, for at least 14 more episodes. Cartoon Network has renewed Childrens' Hospital for a third season. After a strong internet performance, Mike Lazzo, Adult Swim's senior vice-president of programming and production, caught wind of the series. He liked what he saw. If it worked for Patch Adams, why not this? They're making a movie about Oscar the death-predicting cat.
Oscar is able to "predict" when people will die. Not exactly like guessing the number of pennies in the jar; he does live at a nursing home. But Oscar's real gimmick is to curl up with patients a few hours before their death. Psychic? I don't know. Animals do have a sixth sense about all sorts of things.
The cat's owner, Dr. David Dosa, contributed an article about Oscar to a medical journal three years ago, and his story became a big deal. Dosa wrote a book, which has since been turned into a screenplay at Wind Dancer Films and Anonymous Content. Fingers crossed, Bill Murray gets a call to voice the cat.
