After starring in the comedy Vacation Friends and its upcoming sequel Honeymoon Friends for the Hulu streaming service, Lil Rel Howery has taken the lead into another Hulu Original: the sci-fi horror movie The Mill. It’s said that The Mill is largely a one-man show, but Scoot McNairy (Monsters), Pat Healy (Station 19) and Karen Obilom (House Party) are also in the cast.
Directed by Sean King O’Grady (We Need to Do Something) from a screenplay by Jeffrey David Thomas (All American: Homecoming), The Mill sees Howery playing the role of a white-collar businessman who mysteriously wakes up in an open-air prison cell containing only an old grist mill. Forced to work as a beast of burden to stay alive, he must find a way to escape before the birth of his child. An image of Howery’s character in the cell can be seen at the bottom of this article,...

When I was 22 I was trying to be something in show business. I hadn't really narrowed it down. An actor, a writer, an agent, a coke dealer -- all viable occupations in 1986. I was in what seemed like my 80th semester of UCLA, and still floundering when I got the chance, through a family friend, to work as an "apprentice writer" on It's Garry Shandling's Show. I had never heard of that job, but it was better than trying to spend hours trying to find a parking spot at UCLA so I jumped at the chance. It was a new sitcom on Showtime, a place that didn't really make sitcoms or shows. Well, when I showed up for work in my suit, I was told to get the producer a bagel and cream cheese. I realized immediately there was no apprentice writer job. I was a runner, a production assistant.

A month ago "Mystery Science Theater 3000" creator Joel Hodgson began a Kickstarter campaign to bring back the cult favorite sci-fi property. The campaign launched with huge ambitions - hoping to raise $5.5 million in order to produce twelve new episodes of the show with a whole new cast.
Said campaign came to an end last night and the result was even better than expected. The fundraising resulted in a total of $6.3 million being raised, making it the the largest crowd-funded online video of all-time and beating the $5.7M previous record held by "Veronica Mars".
In fact it made so much that fourteen new episodes of the series will be able to be produced, including a new holiday special. Hodgson says the aim of the whole campaign isn't just to make one new season but to ultimately finding a way to "give our show a home, so that we can make a lot more seasons.

Netflix's critical hit "Orange Is the New Black" picked up four nominations for the 2014 Writers Guild Awards -- where it's entered as a comedy series.
The show (and its cast) is entered in the drama field for some other upcoming awards shows, including the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. It's a bit of a tweener show, mixing both comedy and drama, but as there are no "dramedy" awards anywhere, it's a comedy for writing purposes.
Other multiple nominees for the WGA Awards include "Breaking Bad," "Modern Family," "30 Rock," "Masters of Sex," "The Simpsons" and another Netflix series, "House of Cards."
The full list of series nominees is below. You can go here to see all the WGA TV and radio nominees, including those for news and children's programming. The awards are scheduled for Feb. 1.

Comedy Central is getting animated with Triptank. The Viacom-owned cable channel has picked up eight episodes of the series, which is slated to premiere next fall. The weekly series is designed to showcase a range of recurring animated shorts, from both new voices and established talent, built into a half-hour block much like the 1990s hit Liquid Television. The plots, which will come from such names as Will Ferrell's partner Adam McKay, Tom Gammill (The Simpsons, Monk) and Jon Glaser (Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Human Giant), range from a magical alcoholic wheelchair helping sick children to a group of aliens studying the world’s

Updated: Animated series writers are protesting a decision by the Television Academy to allow NBC’s Community to compete for Emmys in animated categories, arguing that they should be allowed similar cross-genre privileges.

The Saturday panels of San Diego Comic Con traditionally draw the biggest audience. TV stations have been fighting for a slot on the third day which would be perfect to introduce new shows. This particular year, Fox has prepared "Terra Nova" and "Alcatraz", NBC brings out "Grimm", CBS will promote "Person of Interest" while ABC has "Charlie's Angels".
Also in the July 23 event, TV Guide magazine would host a discussion about shows with supernatural themes such as "The Secret Circle", "Torchwood" and "True Blood". The panel which is moderated by William Keck is held at 2:30 P.M. At room 5Ab.
Below is the rundown for the Saturday panels for returning and new series. The rest of the panels can be found here.

If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.
Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

The Simpsons coming back for a twenty-third season is old hat at this point, but that shouldn't stop fans from smelling the wine and d'oh-ses for the panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2011!
Taking place on Saturday, July 23rd, what might longtime Simpsons fan expect to get out of the panel? Certainly news on upcoming guest stars, while currently slated for season twenty-three are Jane Lynch, Michael Cera, Joan Rivers, Jonah Hill, Gordon Ramsay and Andy Garcia, and perhaps others we haven't heard about!
Previous season highlights, upcoming episode plots and even footage are certainly possibilities as well. Perhaps even an answer as to the fate of Ned Flanders and Ms. Krabappel? And hey, since Jonah Hill and Jane Lynch might both be at Comic-Con for their own Allen Gregory and Glee panels, might we see some surprise appearances? Check out the roster slated to attend, including producers:

The quirky, weird, and memorable “It’s Garry Shandling Show” wasn’t really ahead of its time because there’s nothing quite like it on the air. Bob Hoskins is becoming a god. The British actor will play Odin, king of the Norse gods, in New Line Cinema's Son of the Mask. Mask carries on with the premise of a character-altering mask that was established in the 1994 hit starring Jim Carrey. This time around, it follows an aspiring cartoonist (Jamie Kennedy) who is not ready for fatherhood but finds himself raising a baby endowed with the powers of the mask of Loki, the god of mischief. Loki is played by Alan Cumming. Currently shooting, Mask is being directed by Larry Guterman from a script by Lance Khazei, Rob McKittrick and the team of Tom Gammill and Max Pross. The production is being overseen at New Line by production execs Kent Alterman, Michelle Weiss and Janis Chaskin. Hoskins, whose career spans three decades, is probably best known for playing Eddie Valiant in 1988's Who Framed Roger Rabbit? His other credits include Brazil, Super Mario Bros., Maid in Manhattan and the upcoming Vanity Fair and Stay. He is finishing shooting Beyond the Sea. He is repped by CAA.
