If you’ve been following all the latest updates on The Mandalorian season 2 trailer, you might have heard that the first preview for the sophomore run of the smash hit Star Wars TV series was thought to be dropping last week. This was viewed as a smart move on Disney’s part, as it would ensure Warner Bros. wouldn’t steal all the attention with their DC FanDome event. As it happens, though, the week came and went and the trailer was nowhere to be seen.
Now, /Film’s Adam Frazier has taken to Twitter to provide an intriguing update on the situation. According to his sources, the trailer was “all ready for the NBA Playoffs,” but plans for its release changed late in the day and “now there isn’t a timetable for when or where it’s going to premiere.” This is just speculation, but Frazier wonders if...

You’ve no doubt heard of Flashback Friday and Throwback Thursday, but what about Movie Trivia Monday (trademark pending)?
We jest, of course, but tonight brings us some news from the depths of Twitter, where Adam Frazier of FirstShowing has relayed a never-before-seen piece of concept art from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Initially uncovered by Reddit, this artwork is allegedly pulled from a Force Awakens deleted scene in which Rey encounters a young Luke Skywalker.
Upon further inspection, we’re more inclined to believe young Luke, played here by Robert Boulter, was intended for the movie’s opening, before J.J. Abrams and Co. decided against it – essentially, the fabled cut would have shown Luke’s famous lightsaber drifting through space following his clash with Vader in The Empire Strikes Back.
Via Twitter:
Rey’s “Force Vision” in The Force Awakens originally included Luke & Vader’s duel from The Empire Strikes Back.

- We Got This Covered
There is a deleted scene from Star Wars: The Force Awakens that would have featured a flashback of the lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.
This scene would have been featured in Rey’s vision when she picks up Luke’s long lost lightsaber. They even cast a different actor to play the young version of Luke Skywalker and that actor was Robert Boulter.
A photo of Boulter in full costume and make-up has popped up online showing the actor in the role. As you will see below, all of the details of Luke Skywalker’s look from the film have been meticulously recreated for this scene. It’s cool, but it’s also a little weird seeing a different actor in the role of Luke Skywalker. I imagine they would have touched up the face with some CGI to make him look more like a young Hamill.

Low budget horror takes on Cronenberg’s classic
If you stopped some dude on the street and asked them about their thoughts on Fly, they would probably think you were talking about The Fly, the 1986 movie directed by David Cronenberg and starring Jeff Goldblum as an unlucky teleporter. Of course, true buffs will know that Cronenberg’s Fly is but the second iteration of man-made insect beast. And now there’s going to be a third: 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Cronenberg’s version, announced negotiations were being made with indie-horror director J.D. Dillard (Slight) to helm yet another remake of The Fly.
While this remake news might have fallen under the outrage radar thanks to a certain picture that Warner Bros. is thinking of rebooting, people around the web are still outraged. Birth. Movies. Death, the official blog of Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, opened their coverage with “We have some terrible news.” Metro...

How are we supposed to react to the breaking rumor that J.J. Abrams has tapped his Star Trek Into Darkness villain, Benedict Cumberbatch, to join the still-formulating Star Wars: Episode VII? As rabid Sherlock fans, we should be jumping for joy that such a brilliant actor will step into a (hopefully) significant role for the franchise. And yet, there.s a part of us that remains burned by Abrams. .Mystery Box. nonsense, and the lack of concrete facts has us withholding judgment. Whenever major Star Wars news breaks, I love to get my friend and colleague Adam Frazier from Geeks of Doom on the horn. The man knows Star Wars, and I wanted his opinion on the casting rumor, and where Cumberbatch could fall into Lucas. existing galaxies. Sean: So, Adam, the news is "breaking" that Star Trek Into Darkness co-star Benedict Cumberbatch is following director J.J. Abrams ...

Guillermo del Toro.s Pacific Rim, despite its appearances, is neither a Transformers prequel nor a follow up to Hollywood.s countless Godzilla movies. But we can understand why you.d believe that Del Toro.s blockbuster belongs to the same family tree that created said franchises. Adam Frazier, a writer for Geeks of Doom, shared an excellent idea after our Rim screening . combine the rebooted Godzilla series with Del Toro.s new Rim universe for an Avengers-style mash up of monsters and Mech heroes. Slowly but surely, the blurry picture regarding the new Star Wars trilogy continues to come into focus. J.J. Does Ford.s involvement point toward a possible direction of the story? And will Ford soon be joined by fellow Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher? W\hile we wait for official confirmation of Ford.s involvement, I reached out to the biggest Star Wars student I know . And as details continued to emerge, fans learned that Episode VII, due in theaters by 2015, will be the first of three new Star Wars films produced by Kathleen Kennedy, with George Lucas hanging around as a creative consultant. Holy cow. I immediately jumped on a GChat with the biggest Star Wars geek I know: Adam Frazier of Geeks of Doom, who assured me that this is a great day for fans of the series. To answer the question posed in the headline - we're not quite sure, but signs are pointing to "yes." Fusible noticed that Sony Pictures Entertainment has registered a bevy of domain names involving various aspects of the phrases "console wars" and "movie," so it's possible that we could be seeing video game battles playing out behind the scenes in board rooms instead of on fictional battlefields or raceways.
There are a ton of questions that this brings up, because the company has yet to make an official statement or announcement about a film like this. First off, what years and which consoles will they be covering? Sega vs. Nintendo? Sony (Playstation) vs. Microsoft (XBox)? Atari vs. Kee Games? With a couple different Steve Jobs biopics in the works right now, tech is definitely in the forefront of Hollywood's mind.

As the 2012 South By Southwest Film Festival rolls on, Moviehole columnist Adam Frazier and I are starting to dig into the second tier films . the ones that come into this year.s festival looking for the level of buzz that.s already attached to The Raid, 21 Jump Street or The Cabin in the Woods. Adam went with The Do-Deca Pentathalon, an effort by Jay and Mark Duplass actually directed before their recent, more mainstream films Cyrus and Jeff Who Lives At Home, that shows the brothers developing their comedic voice as they explore the concept of sibling rivalry. Though I also enjoyed Do-Deca, I singled out Matthew Lillard.s directorial debut Fat Kid Rules the World, a coming-of-age comedy that.s bursting with hope and heart. Hollywoodnews.com: As feverish excitement accelerates to a new theatrical trailer, Warner Bros has released the latest teaser poster for “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of Batman films.
The one-sheet shows Bane (Tom Hardy) walking away from a shattered mask with “The Legend Ends” in stark white lettering, alluding to Batman’s dismantling at the hands of Bane.
In the comics, Bane does battle with the Dark Knight and delivers the coup de grâce: Breaking Batman’s back and leaving him paraplegic.
What do you think? Will Bane break the Bat or will Nolan allow Bruce Wayne (and Warner Bros.) to continue on with the cape and cowl?

Hollywoodnews.com: With Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.’s prequel to John Carpenter’s “The Thing” now in theaters, we decided to look at three horror films that could use a bit of the old retroactive storytelling treatment.
The problem is, most of the influential (and not-so-memorable) horror films of our time have already been remade, which makes it hard to justify a prequel. If you look at recent horror remakes like “A Nightmare on Elm Street” or Rob Zombie’s “Halloween,” these films serve more as prequel/remake hybrids as they attempt to explain the motives of their killers by showing us their origins.
We’ve seen this before with 2006’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning,” which showed the birth of Leatherface. Oh, and don’t you dare forget about 2004’s “Exorcist: The Beginning.” Years before Father Merrin helped save Regan MacNeil’s soul, he encountered the demon Pazuzu in East Africa.

Hollywoodnews.com: Director Quentin Tarantino (“Inglourious Basterds”) may have found a replacement for Kevin Costner in his latest film, “Django Unchained.”
Costner was set to play Ace Woody, a henchman for the film’s villain, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Costner’s replacement is another grizzled veteran — known to “Grindhouse” fans as Stuntman Mike.
According to The Wrap, The Weinstein Co., which is distributing the film domestically, has confirmed that Russell (who worked with Tarantino on 2007‘s “Death Proof”) is in talks to play Woody. Hollywoodnews.com: Yes, you know him from “The Notebook” and “Crazy. Stupid. Love,” but did you know Ryan Gosling spends his spare time as a man of the people? He’s out on the streets, a veritable superhero in his own right, breaking up fistfights!
A video posted on YouTube (below) shows Gosling breaking up a scuffle in the streets of New York City. The fight seems to have started over a work of art, as one of the men holds a painting while trying to avoid punches from the other.
Several pedestrians attempted to stop the fight (and by attempt I mean they stood around and did nothing) but it took Gosling to get the job done. Gosling steps in-between the two men and gently leads them onto the sidewalk.
The altercation was caught on amateur video by onlookers, who can be heard screaming once they recognize who they’re filming.

Hollywoodnews.com: Cody Horn has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s “Magic Mike,” the male stripper drama based on the experiences of actor Channing Tatum, who also stars in the film.
Horn is the daughter of Warner Bros. President & COO Alan F. Horn and has recently starred in FX’s “Rescue Me.”
The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that Horn will play the sister of an up-and-coming male dancer played by Alex Pettyfer (“Beastly”), whose character is based on Tatum.
Tatum, who is also producing, will appear as the film’s titular character — a mentor to the dancer played by Pettyfer and the love interest of Horn’s character.
Soderbergh’s film is also set to star Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer (“White Collar”), Joe Manganiello (Alcide from “True Blood”) and actress Riley Keough (“The Runaways”).
Actress Demi Moore is also rumored to be involved to the project.

Hollywoodnews.com: Could the recent success of Rupert Wyatt’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” spark more monkey business.
That seems to be the plan. Screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what’s next, and while they were quick to say nothing is certain yet, the married writing duo confirms the film is specifically structured to be the first in a brand new Apes trilogy.
Here’s a snippet from the Entertainment Weekly interview:
Silver: I’m touching wood, because I’m superstitious! We definitely have ideas for where the sequel — plural, where the sequels — would take us. And those were kind of built into –
Jaffa: — the construction of the narrative already. There hasn’t been an official discussion yet about a sequel, because I think everyone still doesn’t want to jinx where we are. But we definitely have ideas.

Hollywoodnews.com: Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” film crew has occupied most of the stages at Pinewood Studios in England for the past three months. The film, a sorta-kinda-but not really prequel to Scott’s 1979 film, “Alien,” now moves on to location shoots in Morocco.
AlienPrequelNews has the scoop on several leaked photos showing sets being torn down and props thrown away at Pinewood Studios.
One photo that stands out in particular is the one above showing an airlock door. The prop is marked “Magellan mess deck.” While photos of airlock doors, rocket engines and crates are fascinating, there’s some juicy images of weird H.R. Giger-esque moulds and set pieces straight out of “Alien.”
Perhaps the most intriguing is what appears to be a map, etched on the floor of an area described as the alien “cave.” Maybe the Spacey Jockey uses this navigational grid to...

Hollywoodnews.com: Where does he get those wonderful toys!?
Back in June, Frederick Roche, a professional location sound recordist and boom operator from London, tweeted some interesting information about Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, “The Dark Knight Rises.”
@Freddie_Z_Roche: “Inside Info, they are Building 2 Attack Helicopters in the same design as the Bat Mobile from The Dark Knight! Boom.”
The ‘Attack Helicopters’ were described as a cross between the Tumbler (the Wayne Enterprises military vehicle re-purposed as Batman’s Batmobile) and a Blackhawk helicopter. Batman-News has posted the first pictures (and videos!) of Batman’s new ride — affectionately referred to as the Batwing by us geeks.
The Batwing from Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” was one of my all-time favorite toys as a kid. While this vehicle is decidedly more bad-ass, it’s certainly not as iconic as Burton’s.

Hollywoodnews.com: One, Twice, Three Times a Lady.
We’re singing that because Working Title Films is moving ahead with a third installment in the Bridget Jones series, as confirmed by Entertainment Weekly.
Working Title Films is the same production company responsible for the initial 2001 movie (starring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth) and its sequel, dubbed “The Edge of Reason” in 2004.
While details on the plot remain scarce, Firth gave EW’s Dave Karger some juicy details.
“I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children,” said Firth. “So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant.”
After knocking her up, Daniel dumps Bridget and leaves her stranded – and guess who’s left to pick up the pieces? Firth suggests that his character will ultimately rescue Jones from a woe-some life of needless drama.

Hollywoodnews.com: Reese Witherspoon (“Walk the Line”) is attached to star in “Wish List,” a Disney comedy about an overly imaginative girl who makes 10 wishes at a wishing well.
Unfortunately, the girl’s coin never reaches the bottom of the well and her wishes go ungranted. The wide-eyed girl eventually grows up to become an ambitious career woman, leaving her inner-child behind, Deadline reports. Twenty-five years later, the coin is jarred loose, falls to the bottom and she has to deal with the ramifications of 10 childhood wishes coming true all at once.
Sounds like “Big” meets “13 Going on 30” — or the more recent “17 Again.”
Initially, the comedy was developed as a vehicle for a male star, but now it’s being re-purposed for Witherspoon, who was last seen in “Water for Elephants.”
Reese next stars in the McG-directed “This Means War,” opposite Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.

Franco told Access Hollywood that Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful” currently is filming in Michigan.
“I’ve been in Detroit for almost a month now and we were rehearsing for quite a while and we’ve been shooting for about a week and it’s going very, very well,” he told Access.
The film, which is a prequel to Frank L. Baum’s 1900 novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” stars Franco as the titular character before he becomes the Wizard of Oz.
“The Wizard in the original 1939 film is an older man, so it’s another great opportunity to kind of do a new rendition on a franchise or a tradition, but it’s in a fresh way.

Yes, I’m talking about “The Twilight Saga.” Summit Entertainment announced today that it has identified the principal hacker who stole unreleased materials from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” earlier this year, which were then distributed on the internet, Deadline reports.
Argentinean Daiana Santia, along with others, stole photographs, unfinished images and video from both parts of the unreleased “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” which leaked on the internet back in March. Authorities are still unsure if Santia is on Team Jacob or Team Edward.
David C. Hollywoodnews.com: Twentieth Century Fox is fast-tracking “Die Hard 5,” even though its director, Noam Murro (“Smart People”), left the project after he got the job helming “300: Battle Of Artemisia” for Warner Bros.
The studio has come up with a short list of directors who will potentially direct the Bruce Willis action flick scripted by screenwriter Skip Woods, Deadline reports. Woods is the man responsible for such cinematic travesties as “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “Hitman.”
Woods’ most recent contribution to film was Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team,” which did feature some competent, entertaining action sequences — – and after Len Wiseman’s 2007 “Live Free or Die Hard,” that’s apparently all it takes to make a successful “Die Hard” movie.
The directors on the short list are: Justin Lin (“Fast Five”), Joe Cornish (“Attack the Block”), Nicolas Winding Refn (“Drive”) and “Max Payne” director John Moore.

Hollywoodnews.com: Break out your glow sticks, kids — and your riot gear apparently — because “The Electric Daisy Carnival” is coming to your town.
Director Kevin Kerslake’s film about the annual rave and electronic music festival features helicopter footage of the event as well as backstage interview with electronic artists such as David Guetta, Steve Aoki and DJ Kaskade.
This past Wednesday at the film’s premiere, police in riot gear fought off crowds flocking to see Kaskade perform. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kaskade invited fans via Twitter to watch him play despite the fact it was an invite-only screening.
As a result of the riot, Regal and AMC theater chains will not be screening the documentary, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Regardless, “The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience” opens nationwide August 4.

Hollywoodnews.com: Smurfin’ Smurfs. The Hollywood Reporter estimates Jon Favreau’s “Cowboys & Aliens” will collect $13-$13.5 million on Friday, which would mean about only $38 million for the weekend.
Likewise, Sony Pictures’ “The Smurfs” should make around $38-40 million over the weekend. In other words, Han Solo and James Bond may have their asses kicked by a bunch of creepy blue Happy Meal toys.
‘80s cartoons and televisions are box office gold. “The Smurfs,” “Transformers,” “G.I. Joe,” and even “Alvin & the Chipmunks” have captured the hearts and minds (and wallets) of those ‘80s kids dying to reclaim a piece of their childhood, simultaneously introducing the gone but not forgotten franchises to their offspring.

Hollywoodnews.com: Walt Disney Pictures’ fantastical adventure “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, started filming on Monday, July 25 at Raleigh Studios, the brand-new 200,000 square foot sound stage facility in Pontiac, Michigan.

Joining Franco are Golden Globe nominee Mila Kunis as the witch Theodora (a before-she-was-evil version of the Wicked Witch of the West), Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz as Kunis’ sister Evanora and two-time Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams as Glinda, the Good Witch.

Hollywoodnews.com: Warner Bros. has fast-tracked the David Dobkin script, “Arthur and Lancelot,” a contemporary re-imagining of the King Arthur legend. The studio has already scheduled the film for a March 15, 2013 release, with a $90 million budget.
It was only last month that Warner Bros. paid $2 million to acquire Dobkin’s script in a bidding war that involved Universal and Fox.
As a result, the Bryan Singer remake of “Excalibur,” as well as Guy Ritchie and John Hodge‘s other King Arthur film are both dead, according to Deadline.
Dobkin will direct and produce, with Lionel Wigram with Jeff Kleeman executive producing. Wigram was also a producer and writer on Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes,” so his involvement suggests a blend of action and comedy.

Hollywoodnews.com: News recently broke that “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyder’s new Superman movie, has been pushed back to June 14, 2013 — six months later than what had been previously scheduled.
David Goyer penned the script and developed the story with Christopher Nolan, who has kept plot details under wraps. Henry Cavill, who plays Superman in Snyder’s upcoming film, visited San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H to talk about his new film “Immortals” and was asked about the release date change by moderator Geoff Boucher of The Los Angeles Times.
Cavill declined to comment.
“There’s nothing I can say,” Cavill admitted, “other than it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. … I can’t wait to get started.”
Of course, what was Cavill going to say? That the script rivaled “Spider-Man 3” or Schumacher’s “Batman & Robin” in terms emotional depth and artistic vision?...

Hollywoodnews.com: With the untimely passing of singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, you may have heard mention of The 27 Club. The term is used to refer to the remarkably high statistical spike of musicians who have died at the age of 27. The term was first coined in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s with the death of four influential musicians.
Guitarist and founding member of The Rolling Stones, Brian Jones, drowned in a swimming pool on July 3, 1969 at the age of 27. On September 18, 1970, legendary electric guitarist Jimi Hendrix died. The autopsy showed he asphyxiated on vomit after a deadly cocktail of sleeping pills and wine. His age was 27 years and 295 days.
Janis Joplin died of a heroin overdose a month later on October 4, 1970. She was 27. Jim Morrison (lead singer/songwriter for The Doors) died on July 3, 1971 (the exact same day, three years later, as Brian Jones) from an apparent heart failure,...

Hollywoodnews.com: Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”) premiered his latest film, “Cowboys & Aliens,” to an enormous crowd Saturday night at San Diego Comic-Con. In this Western meets Science-Fiction epic, in 1873 Arizona, an outlaw named Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) awakens with no memory of his past and a mysterious shackle around his wrist.
This shackle, complete with futuristic technology, holds the key to defeating a new enemy: Aliens! From the skies, without warning, spaceships descend on the sleepy town of Absolution and the townspeople, along with outlaw Jake, must make a stand against them. The film also stars Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde and Paul Dano.

Hollywoodnews.com: During Entertainment Weekly’s Totally Lost: One Year Later panel at Comic-Con this weekend, “Lost” executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse crashed the festivities to answer questions and surprise fans with a long forgotten deleted scene from the season one finale.
Cuse was dressed as a stormtrooper while Damon was sporting a fashionable Dharma Initiative jumpsuit, complete with Boba Fett helmet – who knew the galaxy’s most bad-ass bounty hunter was a sucker for time travel and polar bears?
The unveiling of this deleted scene was the product of a supposed Twitter feud between the two producers.

Hollywoodnews.com: As part of Sony Pictures’ Hall H presentation this week at San Diego Comic-Con, director Len Weisman introduced crowds to his remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 film, “Total Recall,” a film which was loosely adapted from Philip K. Dick’s short story, “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.”
The panel included Weisman, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, John Cho, Kate Beckinsale and Colin Farrell, who plays Doug Quaid, the character portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Verhoeven’s original film.
To be clear, Weisman’s “Total Recall” is not a new adaptation of Dick’s short story — it is very much a remake of Verhoeven’s film. It appears that, for the most part, the premise and characters are the same, with some twists along the way.
The story is pretty simple: two nation states, Euromerica and New Shanghai, vie for supremacy as a factory worker...

Prometheus marks director Ridley Scott’s return to the science-fiction genre and has been described as a sorta-kinda-but not really prequel to Scott’s 1979 masterpiece, “Alien.”
Courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox, the Prometheus panel was moderated by screenwriter Damon Lindelof, co-creator of “Lost” and writer/producer of the upcoming “Cowboys & Aliens.”
Lindelof started the panel with a story of how he came to be involved with the project and chosen to pen the final draft of the script. You may have heard this story previously on Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show — if not, you can enjoy the entire two-hour-and-40-minute interview here:
Next, the panel jumped right into the footage presentation. The presentation began with a video...
