Votes: 6,481 | Gross: $0.43M
Acting, art direction, cinematography, locations, costuming, even the soundtrack are all wonderful, but the story is disjointed and badly edited. It is essential you know the basic story of YSL before watching or some of the characters who are barely in the film will seem superfluous. There is also a gratuitous nude scene that cheapens the film because it looks like a desperate attempt to win an audience by exposing the considerable asset of the lead actor. The film is also a smidgen too long - I was restless in my chair by the end. Despite this, there are excellent scenes that are beautifully written, acted, and shot.

Votes: 434
Painfully dated mini-series filmed in 1979 about the owner of a high-fashion store in Rodeo drive. Although the main characters are often dressed well (and this is really the only reason to watch this), the story has nothing to do with the fashion industry.

Votes: 1,025
Charming and funny mini-series about a young, ambitious assistant working in a couture lingerie business in Tokyo. Similar storyline to The Devil Wears Prada, except that the boss isn't really a monster... The writing is at times overly detailed with characters explaining the obvious, but at other times very salient about the fashion industry and how it works.

Approved | 111 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

Director: Jacques Becker | Stars: Raymond Rouleau, Micheline Presle, Jean Chevrier, Gabrielle Dorziat
Votes: 720
Fascinating film that takes place primarily in a Paris fashion house immediately after the war in 1944/45. The story isn't that mesmerizing, but the scenes in the fashion house are fascinating.

Silly comedy that relies on sight gags of men wearing lipstick for the biggest laughs. Apparently James Garner hated making this film from start to finish... I can see why

An odd film about various characters at a New York fashion show plagued by misfortune. The entire film is done as a series of interviews by a blogger. Hard to turn away, but I can't say I enjoyed it much.

The vintage fashion business exploded in the early 21st century due to people like Sophia Amaruso, the real woman behind this fictionalized story, and other young entrepreneurs who changed how vintage was sold. This badly written/acted story tries to make a badass heroin out of selfish bitch - the real Sophia was kicked off eBay for bid shilling, fraud, and other offences.

Great premise - a black woman unhappy with her natural hair is in her search for perfection. There is an emotionally powerful scene related to her hair, but unfortunately, the story plays out in a very cliched Hollywood comedy -- you can guess the ending about 5 minutes into the film.
