“Good evening, Rome. Good evening, Romans. I am finally here, in the city where my heart beats faster.”
Enthusiastic applause erupted from the swelling crowd of fans on the steps of the Roman Theatre at the legendary Italian studio Cinecittà on Saturday as the Gladiator himself, New Zealand star Russell Crowe, stepped out to perform.
Crowe, who was recently named the official ambassador for Rome’s bid to host the 2030 world expo, gave a free concert, accompanied by his band the Indoor Garden Party, performing alongside The Gentlemen Barbers and Irish singer Lorraine O’Reilly.
Dressed all in black — like the rest of the band — Crowe immediately launched a few blues-flavored tunes, filling the stage as a singer with the same ease and charm he has as an actor on stage.

Amanda Seyfried is who she is, and she doesn't pretend otherwise. So, while discussing home renovations in Allure's November issue, the Fathers and Daughters actress casually mentions she has obsessive compulsive disorder. "I bought the house in 2013, and then I had it redone," Seyfried, 30, says of the home she owns in Stone Ridge, N.Y., located about 100 miles north of New York City. "I just finished renovating one of the barns for guests. I put in a bathroom and a little kitchenette, but no stove; I want people to eat meals in the house. Also, I always worry about people and how they use stoves. Which is just a controlling thing." That worry, she explains, is related to her...

The works of director Gabriele Muccino aren’t for everyone. I can’t speak on his Italian films, but the American ones are unavoidably cloying and sentimental in a way that must be accepted or ignored to find resonance. Despite being the one showered with praise, The Pursuit of Happyness didn’t quite do enough for me. I appreciated the story and performances, but felt the artifice. For Seven Pounds, however, I didn’t care. The entire film proved one giant manipulative contrivance yet it unexpectedly hit me with depth and power just the same. So when the opportunity to watch his latest Fathers and Daughters arrived, I was optimistic. It looked ripe for that same emotional catharsis and as such possessed the potential to also crash and burn magnificently.

Considering the amount of films focusing on that special bond between one’s parents, some filmmakers must have complicated relationships. One of two upcoming films explicitly about the subject, the latest from Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness, Seven Pounds), Fathers and Daughters, looks at the relationship between a Pulitzer Prize winning author as he tries to balance being a widower, mental health issues and raising his 5-year-old daughter. Flash-forward to present day and his daughter is still struggling with her childhood. But her love interest, Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) may be able to help her with that. Muccino is aiming for waterworks again with stars Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried playingthe father-daughter duo. The cast also features Jane Fonda, Diane Kruger, Octavia Spencer, and a new U.S. trailer has landed today.
Not to be confused, on the other side of the spectrum of relationships is Mothers and Daughters.

Director Gabriele Muccino often plays with the themes of family struggles in his movies, and Fathers And Daughters looks to explore another take on dealing with those closest to you – or not, in some cases. The first trailer for the drama has arrived. The film, written by Brad Desch, finds Russell Crowe as a successful, widowed writer caring for his young daughter Katie (Kylie Rogers). Initially it seems they have a strong bond, but when he falls seriously ill and has to send the girl to live with family (Bruce Greenwood and Diane Kruger), their connection is severely tested.Running parallel to that is the story of the grown Katie (Amanda Seyfried), who is still dealing with the fallout from her troubled childhood, and has problems maintaining relationships. Which is where Aaron Paul’s Cameron comes in: he’s a fan of her dad’s writing and falls for Katie,...

Yesterday, we got out first taste of Gabriele Muccino's"Fathers And Daughters" via an international trailer out of Singapore. And a day later, yet another promo has arrived for the movie, a longer trailer, with some new footage, and but lots of the same treacly emotions. Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Paul, Bruce Greenwood, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Janet McTeer, Octavia Spencer, Quvenzhané Wallis, and Kylie Rogers star in the movie that follows a young woman who struggles with the relationships, because of her own intense upbringing by her widowed, ill, single father. Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino may not be a household name in Hollywood, but his two most prominent western films – Seven Pounds and The Pursuit of Happyness – have underlined the director’s ability to capture raw, profoundly human emotions on camera. Now, Muccino is back with a star-studded cast for Fathers and Daughters, which has today debuted its heart-wrenching international trailer.
Starring Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried and Aaron Paul, Fathers and Daughters is a tragic tale about one family ripped apart by a car crash. It’s Crowe’s Pulitzer-winning novelist who shoulders the most pain, though, blaming himself for the loss of his wife. Left to raise a 5-year-old daughter on his lonesome, the narrative will jump between Katie’s troubled childhood and the present day, where she will be portrayed by Seyfried.

Watch: First Trailer For 'Fathers And Daughters' With Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, And Aaron Paul
After having a brief bromance with Will Smith, working with the actor on "The Pursuit Of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds," Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino hasn't quite hit the same heights since in Hollywood. His last effort was the Gerard Butler effort "Playing For Keeps" and now comes "Fathers And Daughters" which has some decent names attached, but as this first international trailer reveals, maybe not the most promising results. Starring Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, and Aaron Paul, with a Black List approved script by Brad Desch, this is time-jumping tale about the relationship between a widower novelist and his daughter, with the story told through her eyes, in a narrative that spans decades. Here's the official synopsis: Jake Davis, a Pulitzer-winning novelist, finds himself fighting against the world when a fatal car accident leaves him to raise his 5-year-old daughter, Katie, all on his own. Overcome with...

Deadline is reporting that Haley Bennett will be joining Gabriele Muccino’s Fathers and Daughters, which already stars a pretty impressive cast that consists of Russell Crowe, Aaron Paul, Amanda Seyfried, Octavia Spencer, Quvenzhane Wallis and Diane Kruger.

Growing up with a troubled childhood, Katie (Amanda Seyfried) eventually has demons of her own that she has to deal with when she’s older and that’s what the present day portion of the story focuses on.

Breaking: Amanda Seyfried has been set to star in the Jake Szymanski-directed He's F-ing Perfect, based on the script by Lauryn Kahn that will be produced by Gary Sanchez. Seyfried will play a social media-savvy girl who is pessimistic about love and vets her friends’ dates to find flaws. The project stalled there, but Universal picked it up and gave it second life. Kahn is Adam McKay’s former assistant, and Szymanski got the job after helming some of the best comic spots for Gary Sanchez’s website Funny Or Die.
