KonoSuba is certainly one of the best and most famous fantasy isekai titles, without a doubt. The original novel series was written by Natsume Akatsuki under the pseudonym Jitakukeibihei, but it soon became a popular light novel series continued by Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima. The light novel series ended in 2020 with 17 volumes, but the anime adaptation is still ongoing, and it is heaping up for its third season, which is set to premiere on April 10, 2024. As part of the promotion, a short Kazuma promo was released on the anime’s official Twitter (now X) profile, which you will be able to check out below.
The anime, whose full title is KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, premiered in 2016 with a 10-episode first season, which was followed by a second season with the same number of episodes. An anime movie, KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

If there’s one word that summarizes the main focus of early man’s life, it’s undoubtedly “survive”. In the gripping Cro-Magnon monster movie Out Of Darkness, directed by Andrew Cumming and penned by Ruth Greenberg, viewers are transported back to a time when humanity was in its infancy, 45,000 years ago. The film boasts a talented ensemble, including Safia Oakley-Green, Kit Young, Chuku Modu, Iola Evans, Arno Lüning, and Luna Mwezi, who find themselves on the brink of existence in a world where every day is a fight for survival.
The storyline unfolds as a small band of early humans arrive on the edge of a stark and unwelcoming land, their journey across a treacherous sea driven by the desperate need for a new beginning. Starvation nips at their heels as they traverse the cold, unforgiving tundra, aiming for the mountains that loom in the distance, hopeful of finding...

As we’re now deep into the middle of the first quarter of the “cinema year” of 2024, here comes yet another horror thriller creeping into the multiplexes. And just what sets this one apart from the other “spook-taculars”? Well, it does concern a disparate group of chiller flick tropes all fighting for survival as their companions are picked off “one by one”. Not unique, but this one’s setting is very different. This story takes place on the desolate landscape of this planet over 45,000 years ago. And no, in case you’re wondering, CGI-created kajiu aren’t the culprits. But something strange and weird is roaming about, an entity or creature (perhaps plural) that’s stalking this group, then striking from Out Of Darkness.
We first meet this motley “tribe” huddled around a flickering fire surrounded by pitch black. A preteen lad named Heron (Luna Mwezi) pleads with his father...

Plot: In the Old Stone Age, a disparate gang of early humans band together in search of a new land. But when they suspect a malevolent, mystical being is hunting them down, the clan are forced to confront a danger they never envisaged.
Review: When choosing a debut film, it takes a certain amount of cajónes to choose one set during the Paleolithic era. Just from a budget standpoint, the task seems impossible. But add in the difficulties of getting an audience to connect with your story, and it seems like something only a crazy person would do. But somehow director Andrew Cumming really pulls it off. In fact, I was shocked to discover that this was made by a first-timer because there’s such a command of the screen. Though, I’d argue that Out of Darkness is more of a story of survival than a straight-up horror film.

“Darkness Falls wasn’t much different from any old-fashioned town on the Atlantic Ocean from Nantucket to Key West. Except for one thing.”
That one thing, of course, is Matilda Dixon, better known as the Tooth Fairy. Most horror fans likely recognize this in-your-mouth ghost from her 2003 big-screen vehicle, but what they might not realize is, the movie Darkness Falls was accompanied by a novelization. The first of two media tie-ins — the other being a single-issue comic from Dark Horse — was published by PocketBooks shortly before the movie was released in theaters. And, like in many cases, much of what ended up on the cutting room floor can be found in the novelization.
While novelizations tend to be different from their cinematic counterparts, Keith R. A. DeCandido’s literary adaptation of Darkness Falls stays largely true to the movie. In fact, this book uses a more intact version of James Vanderbilt...

When 27-year-old BookTok creator Sat posted a TikTok criticizing a dark romance book for what she called “romanticizing” the Ku Klux Klan, she thought the video would spark a conversation about racism in book publishing. But even after the author, Tillie Cole, removed the book, Sat and at least two other BookTok creators tell Rolling Stone that after publicly criticizing the book, they were targets of a coordinated harassment campaign on TikTok.
“I wanted to bring it to folks’ attention because I thought maybe other people don’t know,” Sat tells Rolling Stone.

There are always mystical forces at play in Lt. Joe Leaphorn's world.
But it wasn't apparent after Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 1 if any magic was involved in his current case.
A mysterious cult is at the center of this season's case, based on "People of Darkness," the fourth volume of Tony Hillerman's Navajo Tribal Police series.
Things started with a bang, with Lt. Joe Leapcorn and his faithful sergeant Bernie Manuelito pinned under semiautomatic fire by a suspect they had been chasing.
But a quick cutaway later, and we'll be gaining context for the rest of the season leading up to that fateful moment.
Poor Joe began with a rare day off: riding his horse, letting loose the sheep, and tinkering on his motorcycle. Of course, that couldn't last.
That was because the person he loves most in the world, his saintly wife Emma, soon found herself in danger.

Cruise doesn’t have too many fantasy adventure films under his belt. He dabbled with the genre in 1986 by starring in the Ridley Scott feature Legend. The movie saw Cruise playing a hero in a fantastical world that was threatened by the evil villain Darkness.

This Star Trek: Strange New Worlds article contains spoilers.
At the end of the latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, La’an Noonien-Singh makes a shocking discovery. Hurled back to 21st-century Toronto, alongside James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley), to stop a history-changing attack by Romulans, La’an finds the holding area of her infamous ancestor, the genocidal warlord Khan Noonien Singh.
Tempted by the opportunity to not only destroy a vicious warlord but to also shake off the hatred for her name that still exists in her reality, La’an enters the room, gun drawn. However, she finds not the glowering madman played by Ricardo Montalbán in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan nor the simmering terror played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Instead, she finds a small child, whom she immediately comforts.
As sweet as this moment is, even more notable is who is playing Khan in the scene.

What is light without darkness? This is what Tim Curry’s character of Darkness ponders in the 1985 film Legend. This fairy tale film from visionary director Ridley Scott would start filming in 1984 and even though the movie followed characters through a magical world, it would end up running into some very real problems. Scott was able to snatch up a new young actor just before he was about to become one of the biggest stars in the world and pit him against a well-respected actor known for taking chances in the parts he chose to play. Little did Scott know that making the film was only the first dragon he would have to slay. Getting it released was going to be even harder. Let’s find out how Legend became a fairy tale warning of making films in the studio system here on Wtf Happened To This Movie?

Have you ever had a vacation so iconic that people are still talking about it over two centuries later? Mary Shelley sure did, with her infamous getaway alongside Percy Shelley, John Polidori, Claire Clairmont and their host Lord Byron resulting in some of the most influential genre fiction of all time. And while Byron’s Darkness and Polidori’s The Vampyre have their merits, it’s pretty clear that Frankenstein remains the most enduring product of that fateful literary holiday.
That’s why it’s no surprise that we’re still seeing fresh adaptations of The Modern Prometheus well into 2023, with Yorgo Lanthimos’ Frankenstein inspired Poor Things proving that there are still new ways of exploring the tragic horror of Shelley’s immortal yarn. The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins is often outspoken on his podcast, “Justin Hawkins Rides Again,” and now he’s taken aim at Red Hot Chili Peppers’ John Frusciante, calling his guitar playing “shit” and comparing it to child-like paintings.
Hawkins’ remarks came from a recent episode of his podcast entitled “How Not to Write a Song,” in which he and guest Pat Finnerty (of the YouTube series What Makes This Song Stink) proceeded to lay into Frusciante as part of a lengthy two-hour conversation.
“My issue with Red Hot Chili Peppers is that I get nothing from John Frusciante’s guitar playing,” Hawkins said, addressing the negative comments he receives from Rhcp fans whenever he discusses the band on his podcast. “I feel like if we can call Mark Knopfler [of Dire Straits] an underrated player, I would describe John Frusciante as an overrated player. In fact, I have done that, more than once.

Peter Gabriel opened his 2023 “i/o Tour” in Krakow, Poland on Thursday night, marking the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s first full solo concert since 2014 while offering an extensive preview of his upcoming tenth LP, i/o.
Aside from Gabriel’s most well-known numbers like “Sledgehammer,” “Don’t Give Up,” and “Big Time,” the two-set performance treated fans to over a dozen new songs and arrangements including the live debuts of i/o singles “Panopticom,” “The Court,” “Four Kinds of Horses,” and the title track as well as several previously unheard album cuts and a still-untitled piece that Gabriel dedicated to his late mother.
The former Genesis frontman wrapped up the main portion of the set with his 1977 debut solo single “Solsbury Hill,” but returned twice for encore renditions of the perennial crowd-pleaser “In Your Eyes” and the 1980 protest anthem “Biko.” Watch fan-captured footage and a pre-filmed...

Nothing's a surefire bet in Hollywood until it is. Few took "Star Wars" seriously until it forever changed the movie landscape in 1977, ushering in our modern blockbuster era. Many were just as skeptical of the very concept of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, right up until "The Avengers" became the highest-grossing non-James Cameron movie ever at the time of its release in 2012. But when it did, you can bet your bottom dollar studios did everything in their power to replicate that success as quickly as possible -- and you can be just as well-assured that the outcome was often more regrettable than not.

Ben Schwartz is one of our favourite actors to interview, so needless to say we were thrilled to have the opportunity arise once more, for the release of Renfield, where he stars alongside Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult.
We asked him about playing a comedic villain and the challenges that come with that, and whether he had scope to improvise on set. He also chatted about the collaboration process with Cage, and showed his brand new mug….
Watch the full interview with Ben Schwartz here:
Synopsis
Renfield, the tortured aide to his narcissistic boss, Dracula, is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding. However, after centuries of servitude, he’s ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of the Prince of Darkness.
Renfield is out in cinemas on April 14th

Even in the age of streaming, the movie poster is an essential component of prerelease marketing campaigns, aimed either at getting you to the theater or — these days — getting you to click play. As we approach the 30th anniversary of Sam Raimi's sword-and-sorcery comedy "Army of Darkness," we look back on its iconic poster art, one that star Bruce Campbell reckons he's signed a hundred million times.
The third of Raimi's blood-soaked "Evil Dead" series, "Army of Darkness" flopped at the box office in early '93, simultaneously too weird to seduce new fans and too confusing for those who were expecting more cabin-in-the-woods mayhem. Since then, it has exploded in popularity on home video and gained a cult following, gathering its foothold in the pop culture consciousness by its endless supply of quotes, spectacular production design and practical effects, and a classic movie poster immortalizing its hero in...

Gordon Willis is considered by many to be one of the greatest cinematographers in the history of cinema, with his work on films like "The Godfather" trilogy, "Annie Hall," "Manhattan," and "Klute" hailed as the definitive cinematic look of the late 1970s. Willis was given the nickname "The Prince of Darkness" by fellow cinematographer Conrad Hall, a reference to Willis' sophisticated use of shadow and underexposed film. Think of Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone in "The Godfather," often cloaked in shadow just as dark as his pitch-black tuxedo jacket.
Willis' skills were on another level, and in our current era where everything seems to be plagued by a curse of darkness, it's a shame that more cinematographers aren't looking toward his example. Fortunately, director Benjamin Caron of "Andor" fame specifically wanted to channel the work of Gordon Willis for his upcoming A24 thriller with Julianne Moore and Sebastian Stan, "Sharper.

It’s the mystery-box series that became a word-of-mouth phenomenon back in early 2022 – and, in March, Showtime’s Yellowjackets will be back, hopefully uncovering more about just what happened when that plane full of teenage girls crashed in a forest, leaving them to survive in the wilderness for nineteen months. A new teaser has dropped for the second series, though it doesn’t give much away. Check it out below.
Following the girls both as teens and seeing the repercussions of their experience decades later (plus the impeccable casting, including Juliette Lewis’s excellent eccentric Misty. As he says to Misty, “kidnapping, cults and death” mean her friendship with Shauna, Natalie and the rest of the gang isn’t exactly normal – though with hints mentioned in this teaser at what the girls went through including “Darkness: we brought it back with us” and “We weren’t alone out there...

Don't you hate it when you're trying to pull off the perfect crime under the noses of a local drug lord and you end up having to confront supernatural forces bent on subjugating the earth instead, all the while trying to protect a niece that you hardly know because your sister has disappeared? Yeah, me too. Spanish filmmaker Jaume Balagueró has entertained and horrified us in many ways - from his zombie franchise [Rec] (with co-director Paco Plaza), to the haunted house in Darkness, to the psychological thriller in Sleep Tight. In his latest feature, he seamlessly combines two apparently disparate genres into a whole that is quite a wild and bloody ride. Venus starts with a bang and rarely lets us and takes its...

When one delves into the mythology of Stephen King's epically long 1986 novel "It," you might find a massively complicated Theogony of deities that link into numerous ancient creation myths. According to King's novel, the titular creature, most commonly known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, was originally born of the enormous, ineffable void that surrounds the outer edges of the known cosmos. The novel refers to this void at the Macroverse, although in King's "Dark Tower" novels, the same void is called the Todash Darkness. A rogue meteor somehow picked up the creature and it traveled to planet Earth while it was still forming and humans hadn't evolved yet. For millions of years, It slumbered, eventually emerging in Ad 1715 to begin feeding on the local citizens. It's implied that It is billions of years old, and It can be a clown or a spider or whatever you're most afraid of.

In many Tim Curry movies, you may not even know he's there. Not because he lacks screen presence -- far from it in fact -- but because in many of his roles his face is concealed. Since his movie debut as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," Curry has been an actor whose roles often require heavy makeup. Throughout both Curry's scene-stealing turn as Pennywise in the 1990 "It" miniseries and in his performance as the devilish Lord of Darkness in Ridley Scott's 1985 fantasy film "Legend," his true face never appears.
However, Curry never lets the makeup do his job for him. As an actor, it's his job to entertain his audience, and you won't get very far if you try to do that with just a costume. Case-in-point: the Pennywise makeup isn't especially scary on its own, but Curry's manic malice makes the villain nightmarish.

George Seaton connected an ideal cast to this true-life WW2 story so good that a lazy script and slack direction can’t sink it. William Holden is the American-Swede who spies for the Allies, ruining his own reputation and schmoozing with Nazis that will kill him if he slips up. Wonderful Lilli Palmer is the patriot-agent who steals his heart. The locations are impressive but one inspired scene captures with perfection the utter depravity of fascist power. If ever a WW2 movie needed a remake, this one qualifies.

Update, writethru: After debuting early in 15 overseas markets last weekend, Sony’s Uncharted was game for another $55.4M at the international box office this session in a total 62 offshore hubs. With a projected $51M four-day domestic frame, the weekend maps out at $106.4M worldwide. This takes the running offshore cume to $88M and global to $139M.
Video game transfers can be tricky, yet a handful of factors are working in Uncharted‘s favor. Based on the PlayStation game by Naughty Dog, and directed by Ruben Fleischer, the Tom Holland/Mark Wahlberg adventure has been savvily targeted to a non-gaming and family audience while it’s also enjoying a Holland halo in the wake of the mega-business of Spider-Man: No Way Home. And although it’s been rare for talent to travel during the pandemic, Holland and others from the film recently did a European tour.
