Wcth costars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith’s new Hallmark Mystery Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement is very Scooby Doo, not Hope Valley.
What do the two stars who portray Rosemary and Lee Coulter in When Calls The Heart have to say about their first movie together?

Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith are very well-known to Hearties. However, their first Hallmark Mystery will now widen their audience to include Sleuthers. The new movie is Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement.
The on-screen couple recently spoke to US Magazine about this new mystery. What is clear is that they are not in Hope Valley anymore. However, this movie is very “retro” in its styling. They say it is because of the director David Strasser. But, Pascale explained they are not going back in time like Wcth.

There are pop culture references aplenty in the cult favorite TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but the franchise that gets the biggest nod of all is "Star Wars." Sure, the heroes call themselves the Scooby gang in reference to the old "Scooby Doo" cartoons, but you're more likely to hear a character quote Yoda than Velma or Shaggy. The vast majority of the references come from either Xander (Nicholas Brendon) — who was clearly a sort of self-insert for series creator Joss Whedon — or the Trio, a triple threat of turbo-nerds who challenge the Scooby gang in their efforts to become real-life supervillains. However, there are still a lot of "Star Wars" Easter eggs for a show about a high school student who fights the undead.
In an interview with "Star Wars Insider," the series' writers all revealed the reasons behind those numerous bits of "Star Wars" littered about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer,...

The Looney Tunes fandom won’t be dropping any anvils on Ketchup Entertainment anytime soon! We’re in the studio’s debt after it swooped in and acquired the North American rights to Warner Bros. Animation’s The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie for a theatrical release. The upcoming animated feature stars Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (both voiced by Eric Bauza), with Petunia Pig (Candi Milo) rounding out the trio. The film finds Daffy and Porky learning that aliens are plotting to overtake the planet, which leads the pair to put their differences aside and help save the world.

The 1980s were a heyday for Hollywood horror movies thanks to a slasher boom generating a roster of icons, sexy vampires like "The Lost Boys" and "Fright Night," and movies like "The Shining" that appeal to audiences beyond the Real Sickos. But never fear, Sicko Cinema was alive and well throughout the decade, even if your average movie fan isn't familiar with Gary Sherman's "Vice Squad," Katt Shea's "Stripped to Kill," or Robert Vincent O'Neil's "Angel." These were films that were given exponentially smaller budgets and focused on communities deemed too risqué or taboo for the status quo. Deemed "trashy," "exploitative," or "low-brow," these schlock-fests [complimentary] were some of the last vestiges of explicit, fearlessly envelope-pushing cinematic storytelling. As far as I'm concerned, there's been a void ever since.

British royal family news divulges that a recent high-profile outing by Prince William has squashed one of Clown Prince Harry’s more outrageous assertions.
Nasty-pants Harry has stooped to many lows in his post-Megxit life, but in particular he has accused his father King Charles of being jealous of his sons Princes William and Henry. Here’s what King Charles just did that blows Harry and his childish rants out of the water.
Royal Family News – King Charles Trusts Prince William
Prince Harry alleged in his memoir, Spare, that Prince Charles is intimidated by William’s power to outshine him. The younger man is scandal free and married to an uber-popular royal, while King Charles enjoys neither of those things.

Back in October, we learned that Warner Bros. Animation and director Pete Browngardt are set to bring us a new Looney Tunes Movie that sounds like a blast: it’s called The Day the Earth Blew Up, and it’s a sci-fi comedy adventure about Daffy Duck and Porky Pig dealing with an alien invasion! The movie is expected to reach theatres later this year, although a release date hasn’t yet been announced – and in anticipation of the release, a sneak peek video has arrived online! Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who episode “73 Yards”.
Doctor-Lite stories have so far been very good, which raises the possibility that the thing that′s really holding back Doctor Who is Doctor Who.
As you may know, Ncuti Gatwa was finishing filming his last series of Sex Education for Netflix while “73 Yards” was being filmed, and so the episode was pushed onto the array of ′Doctor-Lite′ stories (put simply: ones in which the Doctor doesn′t appear very much). The idea of doubling up the filming of episodes and balancing the cast accordingly has been in place since the show returned in 2005, with it formally being named as a budget-saving strategy in 2007 with “Blink”. They may also be referred to as “double-banking” episodes where two episodes are filmed simultaneously and so the regular cast can’t substantially appear in both.

It's safe to say that we've seen the beginning of the golden age of TV series: their number has increased significantly in recent years, the budgets are growing, and more and more A-listers are starring on the small screen. Unfortunately, a good TV show is not always able to captivate its audience right away, which is why many promising projects were axed.
Of all the high school TV shows of the 2000s, Veronica Mars is the one that still has a great chance of captivating both teens and adults.
What Was Veronica Mars About?

Nickelodeon and Disney might come to mind when you think of great kids shows. After all, both networks have been producing programming for kids for decades.
Despite that fact, both companies have been under fire in recent years, particularly Nickelodeon, following the release of the Quiet on Set documentary.
Here is the perfect list if you want to expose your kids to some great shows that are not associated with either company.
Hanna-Barbera Classics (Various)
The Hanna-Barbera cartoons are classics that kids and adults of all ages can enjoy together. Many of them are geared toward children but include jokes to amuse adults.
Founded by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in the late 1950s, Hanna-Barbera Productions produced 249 cartoon series between the 1950s and 1980s. Many of those have since become beloved classics.
A personal favorite of mine is Scooby Doo, and many fans share my love for the crime-solving dog and his Mystery Inc.

Carpenter followed that up with a medley of “Feather” and “Nonsense” from her 2022 album, Emails I Can’t Send.

The singer and actress, who has been opening for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, recently won the UK Official Charts Award for Number One Song for “Espresso.

A parody of Scooby Doo turned bloody on SNL Saturday, with host Jake Gyllenhaal subbing in as the toe-headed Fred while musical guest star Sabrina Carpenter guest starred as Daphne.
Dubbed “Scooby Doo and the Mystery of the Shadow Phantom,” the skit featured Fred investigating a haunted mention with Daphne, Velma (Sarah Sherman) and Shaggy (Mikey Day). An animated Scooby Doo helps to catch the phantom they were looking for, who turns out to be James Austin Johnson as Old Man Franklin.
But Fred thinks Old Man Franklin isn’t who he says he is, so he literally pulls off the skin from the face, leaving behind a bloody skull that sends everyone into a screaming frenzy.
Scooby, meanwhile, dives right in and eats the skin.

Blumhouse has announced a trio of upcoming horror movie release dates today, the first of which is the official date for the sequel to hit video game movie Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will release in theaters December 5, 2025.
Released in theaters and available for streaming on Peacock on the same day, the Emma Tammi-directed Five Night’s at Freddy’s was Blumhouse’s highest grossing movie of all time. In other words, it’s no surprise that the sequel was quickly greenlit.
In last year’s horror movie, “After accepting a security guard job from Steve, Mike (Josh Hutcherson; The Hunger Games Franchise) discovers an abandoned restaurant may actually be haunted by murderous animatronics.”
Two other upcoming Blumhouse sequels have also received new dates, with M3GAN 2.0 now coming to theaters on June 27, 2025, previously announced for May 16, 2025.

Scooby-Doo, the infamous cowardly dog, and his gang of mystery solvers are a beloved part of our childhood. Having started as a cartoon, it has led to several sequels, cross-media adaptations, live-action, and more, and thus, has become no less than a cultural phenomenon today.
A still from the much-hated Scooby-Doo reboot, Velma
Yet, not all reboots, crossovers, or even characters have been as successful among fans. And for the past year, it has been the animated reboot Velma that has been drawing the wrath of Scooby fans. In a surprising turn of events, the most hated character of the mythos, Scrappy-Doo, seemed to have redeemed himself by killing another most hated character of the franchise, Velma!

Mindy Kaling voices the character of Velma Dinkley in Velma
The Scooby-Doo franchise is huge and features several characters, yet not all characters have been as well-received by fans.

Scooby Doo and the Mystery Inc gang are heading back to the small screen in a live action series for Netflix, here are the details.
Jinkies: Netflix has ordered a live action Scooby Doo television series. No casting details have been confirmed, but we do know (thanks to a Deadline report) that it will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg – the same Scott Rosenberg who penned Con Air, one of the greatest action films of the 1990s.
This isn’t, of course, the first time Hanna Barbera’s cartoon has been reworked in live-action. Long before James Gunn took creative control of the DC Extended Universe, he was a prolific screenwriter, and arguably his most successful films, at the box office at least, were 2002’s Scooby Doo and 2004’s Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.

While Hanna-Barbera’s Scooby-Doo has entertained the fans for several decades, its latest iteration has become a matter of controversy. It may have taken forever for the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie to finally get off the ground, but it looks like Blumhouse is wasting no time getting to work on the sequel.
Producer Jason Blum has taken to Twitter today to share a behind the scenes photo from inside Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, where the team is working on what we can only assume are the animatronic effects for upcoming sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop of course provided the standout animatronics in last year’s hit movie.
Blum teases in his tweet this afternoon, “Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is working their magic again! We aren’t sure what they’re working on, but we know it will be great!”
While the sequel had not been officially announced, it feels pretty safe to say that this tweet from Blum today is that official announcement.

The fully animated presentation will see a bevy of Warner Bros. and DC Comics characters make up the teams, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (all from DC), Velma and Shaggy (from Scooby Doo), Steven Universe and Finn the Human (from Adventure Time), and of course Bugs Bunny. After spending time with Neil Jordan’s not-campy-enough stalker film Greta (listen) and Olivier Assayas’ Kristen Stewart starring 2016 thriller Personal Shopper (listen), it’s time to revisit Alfred Hitchcock with a look at his 1951 film, Strangers on a Train.
In the film, eccentric and unbalanced Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker) approaches successful tennis player Guy Haines (Rope‘s Farley Granger) on a train with a proposal: they should commit a murder for the other.
While Guy laughs it off, Bruno strangles Guy’s ex-wife Miriam (Kasey Rogers), then stalks the tennis player in an effort to force him to fulfill his end of the bargain.
As Guy struggles under the weight of the police’s scrutiny, he confides in his new girlfriend Anne (Ruth Roman) and her younger sister Babs (Pat Hitchcock) for help. Can Guy avoid arrest? Will Bruno ruin his political aspirations? And how does one of the...

Ever since its debut in 1969, Scooby-Doo has become one of the most treasured cartoons ever. From its unique narrative to iconic storylines, the cartoon show has spanned several episodes, series, movies, toys, games, and many more, with its characters and mythos a permanent part of popular culture.
The Scooby-Doo Gang
Even though there are several cartoons and animated series that enjoy similar popularity, what makes the adventures of Scooby-Doo and his friends is the countless crossovers they have had. From The Dark Knight to the Justice League and even Jensen Ackles’s Supernatural, the characters have had many memorable crossovers. But perhaps the best one was when they collaborated with WWE starring John Cena for an epic WrestleMania mystery.
When John Cena Saved The Scooby-Doo Gang! A still from Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery
Scooby-Doo characters have had many epic adventures together, from being trapped in a computer game to traveling to a zombie island.

Could The Mothership have been 2024’s Ex Machina? We’ll never know, as the alien farm drama joins Batgirl in the dustbin of write-offs
Why would you scrap a movie that is all but finished before anyone except studio suits have had a chance to see it? The answer, for Hollywood bigwigs, is a tax write-off. In the last 18 months, Warner Bros has deleted a live-action Looney Tunes riff, Coyote vs Acme; the animated adventure Scoob! Holiday Haunt; and, most infamously, the $90m DC Extended Universe flick Batgirl. Now Netflix seems to be getting in on the act with news this week that the Halle Berry-led sci-fi tale The Mothership is also being axed before critics have had the chance to view it. Has it also fallen victim to the twisted machinations of nefarious accountants?

This is Harlan Coben’s world, we just live in it.
The US thriller author is a one-man content factory for Netflix, which is currently ploughing its way through his back catalogue in search of more twist-stuffed mysteries to follow in the vein of Fool Me Once, Stay Close and The Stranger. And more is exactly what they’ve found. On the press circuit for Fool Me Once, the latest Coben novel to receive the page-to-screen treatment, the writer confirmed the next of his books lined up for Netflix: 2004’s Just One Look.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Coben announced: “We’re doing one right now in Poland based off my book Just One Look, we’re filming and Netflix Poland is working on. Also working on one in South America, believe it or not.”
Netflix Poland is already behind existing Polish-language Coben adaptations The Woods (2020) and Hold Tight (2022), two stories...

Last year was a huge year for Blumhouse Productions, as the video game adaptation Five Nights at Freddy’s became the company’s highest grossing movie of all time. Released in theaters and available for streaming on Peacock on the same day, the Emma Tammi-directed horror movie made $289 million at the worldwide box office in the final months of 2023.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is of course on the way soon, and though the sequel hasn’t yet officially received a green light, it’s only a matter of time before the animatronics return to the big screen. After all, low budget horror movies don’t make $289 million and not get sequels!
Speaking with Variety this week, star Josh Hutcherson provides an update.
“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson tells the outlet.

The previous record holder for Blumhouse was M. Night Shyamalan’s Split, a stealth sequel to Unbreakable that ended its own worldwide box office run with $278.4 million.

"Color me: intrigued" Sony Pictures has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for the next upcoming Garfield movie, currently set to arrive in theaters in May of 2024 next summer. "Monday just got a whole lot better." The Garfield Movie, as it is officially called, is directed by Mark Dindal, the animation filmmaker who also directed The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little. The funky plot features Garfield reuniting with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat, then ending up involved in a high-stakes heist. The film stars Chris Pratt as the voice of the sarcastic, lasagna-loving tabby, alongside the voices of Samuel L. Jackson as his father Vic, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Ving Rhames. This is a fun intro, similar to the recent Scooby Doo movie where they show Scoob as a pup, this time starting with Garfield as a kitten living...

With the actor’s strike finally over, Matthew Lillard can finally talk about the plum role he has in Five Nights at Freddy’s. In a recent THR interview, Lillard mentioned being thrilled about how fans have reacted to the film, noting:
“Being 53 years old — and being around the block a couple times — I have a much deeper sense of appreciation in this moment than I probably have ever had because I didn’t expect it. I realize that these opportunities don’t come around that often. It’s been a really rich, joyful moment because I can sort of sit back and appreciate it on a deeper level.”
Lillard’s character, who has a rich mythology in the game, could well wind-up being a recurring presence in the Five Nights at Freddy’s world, especially with the film such a huge hit in theaters and on Peacock. But, it turns...

Once again, celebrities went all-out for their Halloween party looks — and seemingly didn’t given a second thought to those SAG-AFTRA rules against specific pop culture costumes for striking actors (which even Saturday Night Live mocked). Below is a roundup of the most striking looks, from Halloween queen Heidi Klum’s incredible velvet peacock to Ed Sheeran’s murder doll Chucky, as well as Adele’s Morticia Addams and Zoë Kravitz as Mia Farrow’s character from Rosemary’s Baby.
Klum told The Hollywood Reporter her costume took six hours to put on. “I wanted to do something with a lot of people, so when we’re all crunched together in a certain position we become one,” she said. “And I thought of a peacock because you can fan out, and I wanted to do it with artists and acrobats.”

They’re impossibly fast and strong. Their skin is pale-white and ice-cold. They travel in pairs and they’re at the epicenter of campy, creepy gay culture. No, we’re not talking about the vampires of “Twilight” or “Dicks: The Musical” writers/stars Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp.

Exclusive: There is a little-discussed Hollywood rumor, explains Nicolas Winding Refn and his long-time collaborator Matthew Read, that Scooby Doo only came to be because Warners failed to land the rights to adapt The Famous Five.
And when you look at the two properties and their uncanny similarities, this argument does begin to hold some weight. Both have daring female characters from a bygone era, ridiculous story-of-the-week capers that always end neatly, and, of course, those lovable pooches — in the former case Scooby and in the latter, Timmy.
If the rumor is true, Winding Refn is thankful for how things played out, as he credits both generation-traversing works with influencing his career and driving his love for the screen. Now, more than 50 years on from when Warner Bros. allegedly failed to land the rights, the Denmark-born director has become the latest to take on best-selling English children’s writer Enid Blyton’s iconic novel series,...

With a budget less than 20 times that of The Boys and “barely” any marketing, Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has succeeded through word of mouth and attracting new viewers to the genre, according to its EP Marge Dean.
Dean, who runs Walking Dead maker Skybound Entertainment’s Animation Studio, claimed in a Mia Market keynote today that the streamer spends around 20 times more per episode on The Boys, its smash hit superhero series.
Invincible, however, has at times joined The Boys in Amazon’s top-five most-watched shows, Dean said. The first season of the adult animation from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman launched in 2021 and a second will premiere in November. Based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the show follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson and his transformation into a superhero under the guidance of his father Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet.

To talk about Peter Cullen's voice acting career is to take a trip through the last five decades of mainstream U.S. animation. The man has lent his voice to so many noteworthy cartoon series that it boggles the mind, including "Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo," "The Smurfs," "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends," "Voltron: Defender of the Universe," "Alvin and the Chipmunks," "Muppet Babies," "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers," and "Invincible." But one cannot even begin to do justice to his body of work without touching on the iconic character that he's voiced across multiple animated shows and feature films for nearly 40 years now. Truly, at this point, Cullen is all but synonymous with his onscreen counterpart: Eeyore.
After debuting as the Autobots' intrepid leader in "The Transformers" in 1984, Cullen took over voicing the most relatable resident of the Hundred Acre Wood from the late Ralph Wright (who voiced...

"He's a demon who feeds off fear!" "We can't stop that!" Peacock / Hulu have unveiled the first trailer for a new animated series mainly aimed at kids titled Fright Krewe, created by DreamWorks Animation. The concept is from Eli Roth and writer James Frey, and the series takes place in New Orleans, described as one of the spookiest animated series created by DreamWorks so far. An ancient prophecy and a Voodoo Queen put misfit teens in charge of saving New Orleans from the biggest demonic threat it's faced in almost two centuries. But, honestly? Saving the world might just be easier than becoming friends. The animated series stars the voices of Sydney Mikayla, Tim Johnson Jr, Grace Lu, Chester Rushing, Terrence Little Gardenhigh, Jacques Colimon, and Vanessa Hudgens. "Sounds to me like we have a mystery on our hands." Zoinks, this is amazing! There's a 10-min short film online called Scooby Doo, Where Are You? In... Springtrapped! A filmmaker named Eagan created this entirely on his own using the 3D software Blender 3.5. Technically it's not actually stop-motion, he just recreated that same look & feel in the computer. "There are 3 things I love dearly, Scooby Doo, Fnaf, and stop motion. I recently figured out how to mimic stop motion in Blender, and thus 'Springtrapped!', a fan animation, was born. A labor of love to bring 3 of my favorite things together." When the gang visits Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they must investigate a mysterious case of the animatronics getting a bit quirky at night. There's already a Five Nights at Freddy's movie coming out this fall, and this is the perfect compliment. If I were Blumhouse, I'd buy it and...

Teyonah Parris has stepped into plenty of shoes in her career — from “Dear White People” and “Mad Men” to “If Beale Street Could Talk” and, more recently, as Marvel superhero Monica Rambeau. But no shoes quite compare to the mustard yellow, thigh-high boots and chaps she wore as Yo-Yo in Netflix’s new pulpy conspiracy caper “They Cloned Tyrone.”
“The minute I put on all those elements, I felt Yo-Yo,” Parris told Variety at a press junket for the film in late June.

Nicolas Winding Refn is expanding into the animated world.
While Charlie Kaufman and Guillermo Del Toro have announced new emphases on animation, Refn exclusively told IndieWire that he is current working on an animated TV series.
“I’m doing an animation show which I’m very, very, actually really excited about,” the “Only God Forgives” auteur said. “I’ve been concentrating on for a year. I was so tired, I forgot about that. That is my new project.”
Refn is also creating an adaptation of famed British sleuth series “The Famous Five.”
“In Europe, it’s like institution. It’s like British royalty when it comes to pop culture of literature,” Refn said. “They are these old children’s books from the ’30s from England and everyone read them who as growing up all over Europe. Everyone has had their parents read them ‘The Famous Five.’ My kids know them backwards and forwards.

Spoiler Alert: This interview discusses gargantuan plot developments in “Kill List,” Season 4, Episode 5 of “Succession,” now streaming on HBO Max.
Kieran Culkin hasn’t yet watched this week’s episode of “Succession” because he’s traveling — and doesn’t like watching things on his laptop. Having wrapped filming only six weeks ago, and with upcoming episodes still in post-production, Culkin isn’t even sure how the gripping story of this family dynasty will end.
The April 23 episode “Kill List” was written by Jon Brown and Ted Cohen and directed by Emmy winner Andrij Parekh, showcased one of Roman’s most emotionally driven scenes throughout the four seasons of “Succession.” In its tension-filled 60 minutes, Culkin demonstrated his abilities as a dramatic actor during a heated exchange with streaming media giant CEO Lukas Matsson (played exquisitely by Alexander Skarsgård). In the scene on the Norwegian mountaintops, Matsson insults Roman and Kendall (Jeremy Strong...

At a time when gay men – and LGBTQ+ people more widely – are increasingly being targeted by baseless associations with paedophilia, Richard Squires’ animated short recalls how the same moral panic manifested in the Eighties. Part of the 2023 BFI Flare selection, it addresses the media’s obsession with stranger danger (at a time when far more common abuse within children’s own homes was largely ignored) and the distorted representations of gay men supposedly responsible for preying on children.
These were always cartoonish figures, so it seems appropriate that Squires uses a cartoon format to examine them – one themed around that decade’s most iconic kids’ cartoon, Scooby Doo. Shaggy and the gang are not present here, but the style of the images is unmistakable, and there’s even a scene involving masks used to disguise a villain’s identity. This animation interconnects, sometimes in the same image, with a beautifully recreated.
