After taking a look back at House II: The Second Story (a favorite of mine since childhood), House of 1000 Corpses (which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year), the awesomeness of Tales from the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight, the leg smashing in the Stephen King adaptation Misery, and three separate moments from John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek is continuing his The Best Scene video series with a look at a scene from an entry in my favorite horror franchise, Friday the 13th. The film Lance is talking about today is Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (watch it Here), and the section he’s focusing on is the entire climactic sequence in which iconic slasher Jason Voorhees gets knocked around by the telekinetic abilities of heroine Tina. You can hear all about it in the video embedded above!

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" remains beloved for its unique mix of horror, teen drama, and genuinely affecting storytelling. Following the much-derided "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie in 1992, creator and writer Joss Whedon took the reins of a TV show version and restored his vision of an empowered female protagonist who could take on the forces of darkness and prevail.
As the writer told CBS Sunday Morning, when conceiving of the idea for "Buffy," he "loved the idea of a girl going into a dark alley, and a monster comes, and then she just aces him." Whedon was infamously disappointed in the 1992 movie, openly talking about how director Fran Rubel Kuzui diverged from his original vision and turned it into a light-hearted camp-fest — though the case has been made for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actually being a good movie. However, the TV show was, as far as Whedon was concerned, Buffy done right.

Sharon Stone always prefers to bet on herself.
The “Casino” actress revealed that she was encouraged to run in the Best Supporting Actress Academy Awards category for her role in the 1995 Martin Scorsese film. However, Stone was determined to earn her rightful place in the Best Actress lead category, even if it lowered her odds of winning against Emma Thompson (“Sense and Sensibility”), Meryl Streep (“The Bridges of Madison County”), Elisabeth Shue (“Leaving Las Vegas”), and Susan Sarandon (“Dead Man Walking”), who ultimately took home the 1996 Oscar.
“I was super surprised. I mean, they told me, ‘We can run for Supporting Actress and you’ll win the Oscar. You can’t win for leading lady but they’re never going to let you get a leading lady Oscar,’ because it was me,” Stone said during the latest iHeartPodcast “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” episode, citing her controversial reputation following “Basic Instinct.

Apparently "Dancing with the Stars," ABC's competitive series that partners celebrities with talented young dancers and then has them square off against each other, to much heartbreak and sprained ankles, is still, very much, a thing. This fall is actually the nineteenth season of the series, and ABC has announced the cast of the new season (via EW).
Among the celebrities recruited this time around: male model and one-time "General Hospital" star Antonio Sabato, Jr., fashion designer Betsey Johnson and "Back to the Future" star Lea Thompson (wonder if they'll manage to squeeze in a "Howard the Duck" reference in there). Also, Alfonso Ribeiro from "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" is also in the mix, so expect him to do "The Carlton" at least once during the season. Maybe the most wondrously Wtf-worthy inclusion in this cast is erudite PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley. It'll be quite interesting to...
