After playing a key role in the New French Extremity, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are headed to Texas. The co-directors of “Inside” (“À l’intérieur”) are helming “Leatherface,” a prequel to “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” that will presumably tell us everything we ever wanted to know about our favorite chainsaw-wielding psychopath. Watch the red-band trailer below.

Regina King has become a deservedly dominant force in our latest Dream Emmy race. The American Crime standout has picked up the Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie trophy two years running for her subtle work in ABC’s anthology drama. And she’s gunning for a third this year.
But King faces formidable competition in ’17 — so much so that she didn’t even make our Dream short list this year (suffice it to say that if this category allowed eight nominees, she would’ve landed a spot alongside her similarly, regrettably snubbed-by-us co-star, the terrific Lily Taylor...

Whitney: Can I Be Me is a moving documentary by Nick Broomfield and Rudi Dolezal tracking the inspiring career but tragic life of the wonderfully talented Whitney Houston. Through the talking heads of friends and family interviews, and the fascinating fly-on-the-wall style footage, this film explores the intense scrutiny placed on Houston, from her young and humble gospel beginnings to the height of her legendary career, and whether these pressures may have been the cause of her isolated and devastating death.
This documentary is made under the impression that the audience is already familiar with the headlines of Whitney’s life – her struggle with addiction, the troubling legal issues with her family, her abusive relationship with Bobby Brown and the tragic death of her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, shortly after Whitney’s own death by drug overdose in 2012. Regardless if you’re a Whitney Houston fan or not,...

With the resurgence in boxing films over the last couple of years, sparked by the return of the Rocky franchise with Creed, we’ve also seen Southpaw, Hands of Stone and Bleed For This. By now we are familiar with the redemption arcs and comeback stories, so much so it’s become a breeze predicting the plot points and action beats when watching a boxing flick. However director Thomas Napper certainly makes an attempt for originality with his debut feature Jawbone. Written by and starring Johnny Harris, Jawbone is a contemporary, gritty, British boxing drama, and whilst you’d be right not to feel blown away by this film; it should in no way be overlooked.
Jawbone follows the story of Jimmy McCabe (Harris), who has hit rock bottom after the death of his mother, struggling with alcoholism and homelessness. Unable to regain control of his life...

Last year’s teen sleeper hit The Maze Runner crept into theaters and proceeded to clean up at the box office, while securing a solid critical reception. Based on the first in a series of novels by James Dashner, the inevitable follow-up was shepherded into production and now a gallery of snaps from Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials have surfaced online via People and EW.
Headed up by Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, the first movie followed a group of boys dropped in a mechanical maze who fought and clawed to find a way out while battling a tide of robotic opponents. When The Maze Runner opened in theaters last summer it was greeted by a tidal wave of support, encouragement and a clutch of positive reviews. Another movie franchise mined from the vast back catalogue of young adult fiction available, its success surprised many. But not the studio, who sensed they had a hit on their hands and optioned the rights to all the novels in James Dashner’s series. Shortly after the first instalment arrived in cinemas, the studio gave sequel - Scorch Trials – the greenlight.
Now, the third expected feature – The Maze Runner: The Death Cure – is pushing forward. Deadline reports that T.S. Nowlin, who co-scripted the first movie and scripted the second, has signed on to pen the third outing. He will also receive an executive producer credit on the movie.

With production fast-tracked to meet release next fall, the sequel The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, new cast members were found pretty quickly for the film that finds the surviving group of teens who made it outside of the deadly maze now faced with a new set of challenges for survival in a futuristic world ravaged by devastation and disease. Outside the maze, Dylan O'Brien and his group run into other groups of survivors, some of which will be young (played by Jacob Lofland and Rosa Salazar) and others will be older (with Giancarlo Esposito leading a group called The Cranks). Now two more survivors have just surfaced. THR Reports Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) has joined the film in the role of Vince, a survivalist who is one of the last remaining soldiers of a legendary unit called the Right Arm. And Lily Taylor (The Conjuring), has landed the role of Mary Cooper,...

At first glance, the horror movie that seemed most primed for success in the summer of 1999 was the remake of The Haunting. While no one had been clamoring for a remake of Robert Wise’s 1963 classic, at least the talent involved in the modern revamp was promising. You had director Jan de Bont of Speed (1994) and Twister (1996) fame and even if that wasn’t quite an assurance of quality, there was producer Steven Spielberg who clearly knew a thing or two about building cinematic haunted houses. Sure, Poltergeist (1982), with its avalanche of Ilm wizardry, had been a very different movie than The Haunting but anyone would’ve told you that in 1999 no audience would settle for anything less than the state-of-the-art – especially in the age of CGI – so going with the FX-heavy approach would be a must. Add to that a cast that included Liam Nesson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lily Taylor,...

Update: "The Conjuring" stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to reprise their lead roles in an as-yet-untitled sequel which will come to life October 23, 2015, just in time for Halloween. The two stars closed deals this week to once again play paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren in the sequel, according to Variety. The newly-revealed release date places it one week after Guillermo Del Toro's haunted house movie "Crimson Peak" (starring Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain) hits theaters, according to Box Office Mojo. Curiously, Friday, October 30 appears to be vacant, although both James Bond 24 and the animated "Peanuts" are tentatively set for November 6 of that year. Directed by James Wan ("Insidious"), "The Conjuring" starred Farmiga, Wilson, Lily Taylor and Ron Livingston. The modestly-budgeted film opened in July, 2013 and scared up a surprisingly massive $318 million worldwide. New Line's Toby Emmerich stated that Wan is expected to be involved somehow the sequel,...

Chicago – James Wan’s “The Conjuring” is such a remarkable leap forward from the director of “Saw” and “Insidious.” I’ve always thought that Wan was talented but his use of sound, music, and forced perspective in this brilliant horror flick immediately propels him to the top of the list for the best genre directors. He’s reportedly leaving horror behind after this mega-hit ($300 million worldwide) behind (he’s filming “Fast & Furious 7” now). The genre will miss him but it’s understandable that he probably thinks he can’t top this truly great movie.

“The Conjuring” gets so many things right that other horror films miss. From the filmmaker’s brilliant use of sound to the way he perfectly lays out the dimensions of the haunted farmhouse in which most of the film takes place. It may sound minor but modern horror, cut like a music video, so often...

Before they reached the peak of their notoriety with their investigation into the Amityville Horror, world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren tackled a house full of spooks in Harrisville, Rhode Island. Saw (the first one) and Insidious director James Wan plays the haunted house game once again to tell this story with the New Line Cinema production The Conjuring. The ghost hunting couple (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) was called to help Carolyn and Roger Perron (Lily Taylor and Ron Livingston) and their brood of five daughters who were being terrorized by a dark presence in their secluded farmhouse in 1971. Forced to confront a powerful and increasingly dangerous demonic entity, the Warrens found themselves caught up in what they called the most horrifying case of their lives.

Actress Lily Taylor watched real life possessions on YouTube to research for her role as a possessed mom in The Conjuring, and she definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone do the same.
Actors are increasingly researching their characters by searching YouTube for videos that will help them inform their approach. To play Carolyn Perron, a real-life wife and mother who was possessed by an evil spirit, Lili Taylor took to the popular video search engine to watch real-life possessions. The Conjuring is based on the Perron family haunting that started when they moved to a farmhouse in the country during the late 70s, and the demonologists (played by Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson) who helped exorcize the demons.
Taylor didn’t have references to play a woman inhabited by an evil spirit.

A match ignites in the dark. A trembling woman’s frail features are barely lit by its glow. We see a staircase below her descending into that blackness. The anxiety of the moment can be heard in the heavy breaths taken by our heroine.
The match burns too low and burns her, causing her to drop it, and the light flickers out. As she eases slowly into darkness, trying in vain to light her way with wooden matches, we wonder if some creature that loves the empty shadows will reveal itself... and when.
When the answer jolts you from your comfortable spot in the real world, you remember this is Exactly the kind of movie James Wan has perfected. I’m sure you’re here because you’re already interested in The Conjuring, James Wan, Lili Taylor, Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson or – hell – maybe even the Warrens themselves. It’s remarkable that in a genre expressly designed to scare people, so few of its entries actually accomplish that goal. But The Conjuring absolutely does. Smarter and more consistent than all of the Paranormal Activity films put together, James Wan’s interim project between Insidious installments exudes both studio respectability and grindhouse urgency.
All of which is why hyperbole aside, The Conjuring is the closest thing to a horror classic modern audiences are likely to get, particularly in an era when genre offerings seem to be at their most disposable.
Ron Livingston (Dinner For Schmucks) and Lily Taylor (Being Flynn) play Roger and Carolyn Perron, parents of a quartet of girls who move into a Rhode Island farmhouse only to quickly discover that it’s possessed by supernatural forces. After exhausting all possibilities of dealing with the unseen menace, Roger reaches out to Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren...

Philip Seymour Hoffman is one of the best actors working today. He is part of a group of actors who are so good, make such good choices in projects and are so dependable you want to see everything they are involved in.
Within that group I would include, in no particular order, William H Macy, Catherine Keener, Steve Carell, Jessica Chastain, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Taylor and Steve Buscemi. You probably have your own favorites and can add a dozen more names to that list.
Mr. Hoffman seems to specialize in likeable but flawed characters, people who are in pain, emotional, psychological or even physical pain. consider Love Liza for instance. But he can also play egotistical control freaks. I don’t know if I could ever consider him a “movie star”, I think of him, and you probably do to, as a top notch actor, more...

#20. Guillaume Canet’s Blood Ties
Gist: Written by James Gray, with the ensemble cast of Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, Mila Kunis, James Caan, Marion Cotillard, Zoe Saldana, Matthias Schoenaerts and Lily Taylor owning the screen, this is a remake of Jacques Maillot’s Les lien du sang. Canet’s Blood Ties is about 2 brothers, one a criminal, the other a cop, face off over organized crime in Brooklyn in the 1970s.
Prediction: Un Certain Regard but leaning toward the Main Comp if Gray’s Lowlife somehow does not crack the line-up, Canet – the actor who moonlights as a director would be making his first trip to Cannes after monster domestic successes of the mention worthy Tell No One (2006) and Little White Lies (2010). Blood Ties is tagged with a June 13th release, so this would be a timely launching pad.

One of the most buzzed-about horror flicks of 2013 finally has a full trailer! That’s right, we’ve got your first look at James Wan’s inspired-by-a-true-story tale of terror The Conjuring. Wan reconnects with Insidious star Patrick Wilson, who joins actresses Vera Farmiga and Lily Taylor in the new fright fest, based on a case handled by renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. If those names sound familiar, it's because the Warrens were intimately involved with the Amityville Horror case, but that was hardly the only paranormal investigation they conducted during their careers. Whether or not you believe in what the Warrens did for a living (I do not…) or that anything shown in The Conjuring actually happened, it’s hard...

“Who’s really the monster,” horror stories have asked for a long, long time now. Hemlock Grove, whose promotional materials have danced around its lycanthropy so far, has now put the monstrous nature on full display with that age-old twist.
A tale of death, class divides, gypsies and seemingly werewolves, Hemlock Grove (based on the novel from Brian McGreevy) revolves around the murder of a young girl in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town, where suspicions rise that the culprit might not be human—and may have escaped from a nearby biotech facility. Twin Peaks has been cited as parallel and influence and its previous trailer certainly holds to strange, illicit happenings around a small town, that reach far beyond mere murder.
Famke Janssen, Dougray Scott, Lily Taylor, Bill Skarsgård and Landon Liboiron star. The Roth-directed pilot, as well as the other twelve episodes of Hemlock Grove all premiere on Netflix...

The Conjuring is the forthcoming from Insidious and Saw director James Wan. Wardrobes terrify in its first trailer...
James Wan spawned an entire franchise with his unexpectedly popular 2004 film Saw, which he directed at the tender age of 27. His 2011 film Insidious explored less gory, more old-fashioned haunted house territory, and the result was a breezily entertaining ghost train ride.
The Conjuring appears to tread similarly spooky lines, though this time it's based on a real-life pair of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film follows the couple as they investigate the ghostly goings on at a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere.
With a cast that includes Insidious' Patrick Wilson, Lily Taylor and Vera Farmiga, plus an extremely strong reaction from attendees at last year's New York Comic Con, The Conjuring could be another genre hit for Wan, who also has a...

One horror film that's been on our most anticipated list of the year, and one we've been eager to get a look at is James Wan's 'The Conjuring', the 'Saw' director's follow-up to 'Insidious'. And now the first official trailer has arrived, which plays more like a full scene from the film as opposed to a teaser. I don't know about you guys, but this trailer gave me chills! It stars Patrick Wilson (Insidious), Vera Farmiga (A&E's Bates Motel), Ron Livingston & Lily Taylor and hits theaters July 19th! Check it out below along with the new theatrical one-sheet poster.

Well, this came together quick. The first look photos for James Wan's The Conjuring just emerged last fall, and now the first trailer for the summer horror release is here. Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Patrick Wilson (Insidious) plays a husband and wife team of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career as they investigate spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse. However, it's Lily Taylor who takes the brunt of the horror in a film that feels like Paranormal Activity meets Insidious, but without the found footage angle. I'm now officially scared of clapping. Watch below! Here's the first trailer for James Wan's The Conjuring, in high def from Apple: Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon...

James Wan is back to scare us all silly with more supernatural creepiness in the wake of Insidious. Before, it wasn’t the house that was haunted. But for his next trick, The Conjuring, the property’s most definitely got issues. Check out the teaser trailer below. Based on a true (or at least 'true') story, The Conjuring finds the Perron family (led by parents played by Lily Taylor and Ron Livingston) moving into what they think will be a fixer-upper family home with plenty of room for everyone. What they don’t count on is a terrifying array of spirits, ranging from the benign to the horrific, most notably in the spirit of a witch named Bathsheba Sherman who was hanged on the property. Enter investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren, who try to help the Perrons solve their ghost problem. It’s a tale that...

Though it appears Insidious director James Wan is looking to stretch his filmmaking muscles by taking on the MacGyver adaptation, there are still plenty of dark corners he wants to explore. His latest attempt to scare the living daylights out of us all is The Conjuring, and the first two pictures have arrived courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Check them out below. The Conjuring is based on the 1970s true tale of paranormal investigators Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren. They’re called in to consult by the Perron family (which includes Ron Livingston, Lily Taylor and Twilight: Breaking Dawn’s Mackenzie Foy).See, the Perrons moved into a fixer-upper New England farmhouse, which boasts roomy bedrooms, a picturesque plot of land and a terrible curse involving a witch that the estate agent didn’t think to mention. Soon, all manner of horrors are afflicting them and the Warrens...

James Wan, who wowed audiences last year with Insidious, is finishing a new nightmare to deliver unto us titled The Conjuring. During last month's New York Comic Con, Wan and a few of the film's stars chatted with our man Nomad about what we can expect.
The Conjuring is a story from the illustrious career of legendary ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens were called upon to help the Perrons, a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives. The Conjuring is brought to us by the Insidious creative team with music by Joe Bishara.
