1. Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (2018)

Not Rated | 90 min | Comedy, Horror

52 Metascore

All hell breaks loose when a strange force animates the puppets up for auction at a convention, setting them on a bloody killing spree that's motivated by an evil as old as time.

Directors: Sonny Laguna, Tommy Wiklund | Stars: Thomas Lennon, Jenny Pellicer, Nelson Franklin, Charlyne Yi

Votes: 4,466

As an overview Charles Band's PUPPET MASTER franchise is like watching a really long turd swirling stubbornly around the bottom of the bowl refusing to flush. And I'm not exaggerating for literary affect. This panhandled, umpteenth sequel is, simply stated; a piece of shit.

2. Blade the Iron Cross (2020)

Not Rated | 70 min | Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi

In 1945 a psychic war journalist gains a telekinetic link to a murderous puppet and uses its help to sabotage a top secret Nazi experiment that involves using a Death Ray to transform people into zombies.

Director: John Lechago | Stars: Tania Fox, Vince Cusimano, Griffin Blazi, Roy Abramsohn

Votes: 486

Director John KILLJOY'S PSYCHO CIRCUS Lechago and long-time Full Moon scribe Roger KRAA! THE SEA MONSTER Barron cranked out this more-of-the-same spin-off to Charles Band's PUPPET MASTER franchise. Picking up from where she left off at the end of PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH, Elisa a psychic reporter (who shares a supernatural bond with Andre Toulon's murderous puppet Blade) attempts to thwart the latest Axis plot to rule the world by using sadistic electro-torture experiments, Egyptian magic & bio-energy to create a handful of Nazi rage-zombies for the the SS. BLADE: THE IRON CROSS suffers from the same cripplingly low, rock bottom production values that hamstrung the latest Axis trilogy across the boards. Bad actors awkwardly tustle with cringe-worthy dialogue & dollarstore practical effects. Genre addicts might want to have a look.

3. Puppet Master: Blitzkrieg Massacre (2018)

62 min | Horror

In an unknown dystopian future, a drifter with an unusually high-tolerance to pain is held captive in a horrific hospital by The Circle of Psycho Surgeons, a clandestine crew of M.D.'s (... See full summary »

Directors: Charles Band, Jeff Burr, David DeCoteau, David Schmoeller | Stars: William Hickey, Guy Rolfe, Steve Welles, Kevin Roundy

BUNKER OF BLOOD VOL 1: PUPPET MASTER BLITZKRIEG MASSACRE differs slightly from Full Moon's usual 'best of' clipfests in that it incorporated a dozen or so panels of 'comic book action' in lieu any attempt at filming new material to explain the following barrage of impoverished, special effect kills. The routine murders were culled from PUPPET MASTER parts 1-11. Viewed in it's entirety this snuff/stuff barely cut it 30 years ago as a video rental. I can't imagine who this DOG would even appeal to other than director Charles Band who routinely releases these videos to pick the pockets of his ever diminishing fanbase. Pitiful & depressing.

4. The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)

Not Rated | 80 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery

78 Metascore

In the sixteenth century, Francis Barnard travels to Spain to clarify the strange circumstances of his sister's death after she had married the son of a cruel Spanish Inquisitor.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Vincent Price, Barbara Steele, John Kerr, Luana Anders

Votes: 16,406 | Gross: $4.36M

The tremendous reception for HOUSE OF USHER launched an informal series of Edgar Allan Poe adaptions from B-movie studio American International Pictures and legendary producer/director Roger Corman. Vincent THEATRE OF BLOOD Price (who starred in 6/7 Poe inspired horror pics for A.I.P.) plays the depraved son of an Inquisiter who who is incited to murder by the spirit of his dead wife; Elizabeth. Top-billed but little seen Barbara SHIVERS Steele cemented her reputation as a reigning scream queen of the era with her terrifying turn as the exquisite Elizabeth although her English voice was dubbed by an American actress. PEYTON PLACE's John Kerr plays Elizabeth's brother who arrives at the castle determined to discover how she died only to be imprisoned himself beneath the castle in a secret torture chamber. The white-knucked finale which finds our hero strapped underneath the razor sharp swinging pendulum may not give you a whiplash but I guarantee you're going to need a dramamine afterwards. Corman is at the top of his game as a director and that disorienting, surreal pendulum gag has never been done better. The period detail, gorgeous costumes and opulent sets provide the perfect stage for a memorable cast especially Price who's insanity becomes wonderfully operatic at times. This genuine cult classic was written by Richard HELL HOUSE Matheson and immediately followed by THE PREMATURE BURIAL. Although the story has been filmed before and since this adaption is perhaps the best remembered along with Stuart Gordon's cultish Full Moon Features production from 1991.

5. The Tomb of Ligeia (1964)

Not Rated | 82 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

A man's obsession with his dead wife drives a wedge between him and his new bride.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Vincent Price, Elizabeth Shepherd, John Westbrook, Derek Francis

Votes: 6,886

This would be the last of the Edgar Allan Poe inspired A.I.P. B-movies directed by Hollywood icon Roger Corman. Vincent TIME EXPRESS Price stars as a grief stricken & guilt ridden widower who falls in love with Elizabeth DAMIEN: OMEN II Shepherd thereby evoking the vengeful spirit of his 1st wife. Considering Robert CHINATOWN Towne wrote the screenplay this ghostly tale of hauntings and possession is surprisingly bland. Director Corman sets the mood in this English, gothic melodrama set in the 19th century but never manages to pay off with scares. For about half the movie I was a little bored and only stuck through it for a very likeable cast.

6. Witchfinder General (1968)

Unrated | 86 min | Drama, Horror

A young soldier seeks to put an end to the evils caused by a vicious witch-hunter when the latter terrorizes his fiancée and kills her uncle.

Director: Michael Reeves | Stars: Vincent Price, Ian Ogilvy, Rupert Davies, Patrick Wymark

Votes: 12,230

Vincent HOUSE OF WAX Price gives a laceratingly cruel performance as MATTHEW HOPKINS: WITCHFINDER GENERAL who satisfies his sadistic lust for power with false accusations of witchcraft & public executions. And he forces the citizens to pay for his services! A pair of young lovers run afoul of the despot and face certain death in the torture chamber or public stakes unless they can outwit the villain. Ian ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE Olgilvy scored the heroic lead after appearing in director Michael Reece's 1966 drive-in hit THE SHE-BEAST while this would be the film debut of Hilary CRY OF THE BANSHEE Dwyer as his love interest. Price is said to have had a combative relationship with the young director who stripped the actor of his charm, humor & potential camp appeal forcing him to portray the inquisitor as a vicious rapist and murderer of women. After seeing the completed film price made a point of mending his fences with Reece and credits the man with helping to bring out one of his most powerful and vividly rendered villains. Censors in England balked at the level of torture and sexual violence but it found an audience via distributer A.I.P. who released it as EDGAR ALLAN POE'S THE CONQUEROR WORM to capitalize on a string of Poe films made in collaboration with Roger Corman. To establish a connection with Poe, Price was asked to do an audio recording of the famous poem which was used to bookend the film along with the credits. It's grindhouse rough but serious horror fans swear by WITCHFINDER GENERAL which also developed a morbid following when the director died soon after from a drug overdose.

7. The Haunted Palace (1963)

Not Rated | 87 min | Horror

Charles Dexter Ward arrives at a small village to visit the house he inherited from his ancestor who died there 100 years ago.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Vincent Price, Debra Paget, Lon Chaney Jr., Frank Maxwell

Votes: 8,471 | Gross: $2.62M

Roger BLOODY MAMA Corman directed this atmospheric horror hit while filming a series of Edgar Allan Poe inspired tales for A.I.P. To capitalize on their popularity & the presence of Vincent Price (the actor most closely identified with the franchise) the studio gave this adaption of H.P. Lovecraft's story THE STRANGE CASE OF CHARLES DEXTER WARD a title drawn from the pages of THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER and marketed it as being the brainchild of Poe. Watching, you'll see the difference as the hour of human sacrifice to ancient gods draws near and barely glimpsed horrors in the fog prowl amongst the cursed inhabitants of Arkham at night. Charles THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH Beaumont captures the 'cosmic' flavor of the source material perfectly on a B-movie budget & Corman is at his best; filling the screen with gorgeous period detail and even shared footage from THE RAVEN to maximize the resources on hand. Vincent DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE BIKINI MACHINE Price is perfectly cast as Ward who begins to transform into the vengeful ancestor who was burned at the stake for practicing witchcraft there generations ago. Debra TALES OF TERROR Pagent play Ward's wife and the doomed spouce of the diabolical warlock who's reincarnation threatens not only her marriage but her very life. This film marked the only onscreen horror pairing of Price and genre icon Lon SPIDER BABY OR THE MADDEST STORY EVER TOLD Chaney Jr. although they did costar in the 1948 comedy ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. The seminal H.P. Lovecraft novella would be filmed again in 1992 as THE RESURRECTED.

8. X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes (1963)

Not Rated | 79 min | Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

A Roger Corman tale of Dr. James Xavier's devastating experiments on himself and the unforeseen.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Ray Milland, Diana Van der Vlis, Harold J. Stone, John Hoyt

Votes: 8,168

Ray BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Milland plays an obsessive scientist experimenting on a potion that substantially increases human eyesight. This cult classic begins breezily enough but takes a very dark turn when Dr. Xavier's ability to see accelerates. Soon the scientist must fight for his sanity when he sees through the very fabric of space/time. Milland generates a lot of empathy as his life spirals out of control and the screenplay by Ray MR. SARDONICUS Russell & Robert THE FRENCH CONNECTION II Dillon give the actor plenty of opportunity to shine. Roger MACHINE GUN KELLY Corman deserves some credit for this rather ambitious B-Movie hit which co-stars Don INNOCENT BLOOD Rickles, Harold THE INVISIBLE BOY Stone & John ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE Hoyt. If I have to quibble it's only to say the special effects aren't very effective & the chilling finale is jarringly abrupt.

9. The Premature Burial (1962)

Unrated | 81 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery

An artist grows distant from his new wife as an irrational horror of premature burial consumes him.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Ray Milland, Hazel Court, Richard Ney, Heather Angel

Votes: 4,861

Charles THE 7 FACES OF DR. LAO Beaumont & Ray THE INCUBUS Russell adapted the Edgar Allan Poe short story for A.I.P. The plot doesn't offer a lot by way of character development other than to say Ray X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES Milland plays a wealthy eccentric with a hysterical phobia of being buried alive. Milland is more ham-fisted than campy but still manages to deliver a harrowing portrayal of paranoia and insanity in this Victorian-era horror hit that also borrowed elements of GASLIGHT. This was the third of a series of eight Poe adaptions from Roger FRANKENSTEIN UNBOUND Corman following HOUSE OF USHER and THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM that built on those prior successes with opulent production design and a skilled direction filling the air with gothic flavor and the stench of decay. A minor cult classic. PREMATURE BURIAL was filmed before as THE CRIME OF DR. CRESPI and again in 1991 as HAUNTING FEAR.

10. Not of This Earth (1957)

Approved | 67 min | Horror, Sci-Fi

An alien agent from the distant planet Davana is sent to Earth via a high-tech matter transporter. There, he terrorizes Southern California in an attempt to acquire blood for his dying race, the result of a devastating nuclear war.

Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Paul Birch, Beverly Garland, Morgan Jones, William Roerick

Votes: 2,240

Paul THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES Birch starred as an alien who's race has been stricken with a rare blood disease since atomic warfare ravaged their civilization. 'Mr. Johnson's mission on earth is to determine if human blood carries curative value. If our blood can save their species a full scale invasion begins which would see the human population enslaved. If our blood has no benefit then the planet and all it's inhabitants are marked for annihilation. Beverly SWAMP WOMEN Garland played the beautiful nurse who agreed to help the alien but came to fear him. Roger FRANKENSTEIN UNBOUND Corman directed this nifty, B&W B-movie that was shot back to back with ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS as a double feature. Charles DEATH RACE: 2000 Griffith wrote the script for both which have distinguished themselves as cult classics. NOT OF THE EARTH was remade in 1988 and again for cable tv in 1995.

11. Not of This Earth (1988)

R | 81 min | Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi

An alien arrives on Earth looking to take human blood in an attempt to preserve his dying planet.

Director: Jim Wynorski | Stars: Traci Lords, Arthur Roberts, Lenny Juliano, Ace Mask

Votes: 2,737 | Gross: $0.11M

Roger Corman produced this tacky remake of his 1957 cult classic NOT OF THIS EARTH starring Traci Lords who is best known for MELROSE PLACE and porn. Lords (who is terrible, by the way) plays a nurse who meets an alien vampire in need of a blood transfusion. Arthur Roberts (who also appeared in the 1995 tv movie version) plays the empathetic creature in this dreary trash from Jim SHARKANSAW WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE Wynorski who pads NOT OF THIS EARTH relentlessly with recycled footage from BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP, FORBIDDEN WORLD and GALAXY OF TERROR to give it some production value. The script was from R.J. MUNCHIES STRIKE BACK! Robertson based on a screenplay by Charles ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS Griffith. Look for Ace Mask as Dr. Rochelle; a character who would return for Wynorski's THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING & GHOULIES IV.

12. Not of This Earth (1995 TV Movie)

R | 91 min | Horror, Sci-Fi

An anemic alien comes to Earth from a dying planet, in the remake of the Corman 50s classic.

Director: Terence H. Winkless | Stars: Michael York, Parker Stevenson, Elizabeth Barondes, Richard Belzer

Votes: 493

Michael THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU York has a little fun as a sinister alien in search of a cure for a blood disease decimating his homeworld. Producer Roger Corman cut a deal with Showtime to remake a handful of his cult classic B movies including THE ATTACK OF THE 50 FT WOMAN, PIRANHA and HUMANOIDS OF THE DEEP but NOT OF THIS EARTH was the only good one in the bunch thanks to a nifty screenplay based on the 1957 drive-in hit by Charles Griffith and some solid work from director Terence H. Winkless who genre addicts know best for THE HOWLING. The TV movie special effects are also unexpectly strong with plenty of disgusting, practical make-up monsters in the tight budget. Arguably the best version of the three.

13. The Beast with a Million Eyes (1955)

Passed | 75 min | Horror, Sci-Fi

A dysfunctional family operating an isolated date farm in the California desert is threatened by the arrival of an extra-terrestrial.

Directors: David Kramarsky, Roger Corman, Lou Place | Stars: Paul Birch, Lorna Thayer, Dona Cole, Dick Sargent

Votes: 1,758

THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES was the sole directorial credit for David Kramarsky who was replaced (uncredited) by dissatisfied producer Roger Corman. This $30,000 rip off of INVADERS FROM MARS featured Lorna Taylor (who's claim to fame as an actress was her chicken salad scene with jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES) and Paul NOT OF THIS EARTH Birch as a couple trying to save our planet from an alien invader who crash landed near their deserted farm. With a special effects budget of about one hundred bucks the team whittled the million eyes concept down to under 2. It's power to see through a million eyes comes from it's uncanny ability to possess the bodies of the farmer's chickens, pigs and such. Soon the family is under attack by barnyard animals and a simple-minded farm hand susceptible to Venusian telepathy. Samuel Z. Arkoff's American Releasing Corporation made this Grade-Z snooze-fest which was eventually double-billed with THE PHANTOM FROM 10,000 LEAGUES. B&W

14. The Oblong Box (1969)

R | 96 min | Horror

Aristocrat Julian Markham keeps his disfigured brother, Sir Edward, locked in a tower of his house. Sir Edward occasionally escapes and causes havoc around the town.

Director: Gordon Hessler | Stars: Vincent Price, Alister Williamson, Christopher Lee, Rupert Davies

Votes: 3,931

Gordon KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK Hessler matter-of-factly directed this overly complicated gothic horror movie set in 19 century England for A.I.P. THE OBLONG BOX was marketed as having been written by Edgar Allan Poe to capitalize on a string of adaptions directed by Roger Corman beginning with HOUSE OF USHER. Vincent MADHOUSE Price plays a wealthy noble who's disfigured brother (Allister Williamson) has been cursed by an African Voodoo witch-doctor named N'Galo. Overwhelmed by guilt Julian imprisons his insane brother unaware that grave-robbers are about to expedite his murderous return to polite English society when they inadvertently sell his still-living corpse to a surgeon played by Christopher THE WICKER TREE Lee. Sally CRY OF THE BANSHEE Geeson is very lovely as helpless maid who's life is in mortal danger because of the killer's obsessive love. Screenwriter Lawrence THE VULTURE Huntington borrows as much from Hammer's Frankenstein franchise and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA as anything formally written by Poe. This was the 1st pairing for horror legends Vincent Price & Christopher Lee and fans will be bitterly disappointed in the worthless scene they share. Turgid and forgettable.

15. Twice-Told Tales (1963)

Approved | 120 min | Horror, Mystery, Romance

Three horror stories based on the writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne. In the first story titled "Dr. Heidegger's Experiment", Heidegger attempts to restore the youth of himself, his fiancee ... See full summary »

Director: Sidney Salkow | Stars: Vincent Price, Sebastian Cabot, Brett Halsey, Beverly Garland

Votes: 3,569

Sidney THE LAST MAN ON EARTH Salkow directed this okay anthology based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's stories; Dr. Heidegger's Experiment, Rappuccini's Daughter and the 1851 novel THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES the last of which had been filmed twice before. The 1910 version from Edison Studio is considered a lost film while fans of gothic, B&W horror are probably still enjoying the fine 1940 adaptation which also starred Vincent TALES OF TERROR Price. Here; Price narrates the introductions to these Victorian-flavored chillers about family curses, betrayal & eternal youth co-starring along-side Brett THE RETURN OF THE FLY Halsey, Sebastian THE TIME MACHINE Cabot & Beverly NOT OF THIS EARTH Garland for United Artists. The time-killing script was from prolific producer/writer Robert GAS LIGHT KIDS GO WEST Kent.

16. Shock (1946)

Passed | 70 min | Film-Noir, Thriller

A psychologically distraught woman is committed to a private sanitarium by the man she witnessed commit a murder.

Director: Alfred L. Werker | Stars: Vincent Price, Lynn Bari, Frank Latimore, Anabel Shaw

Votes: 3,303

Hollywood veteran Albert THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES Werker was transitioning to poverty row B movies when he made this minor film noir about a drug addicted psychiatrist (Vincent EDWARD SCISSORHANDS Price) who murders his wife at the insistance of his lover (Lynn CHARLIE CHAN. IN CITY IN DARKNESS Bari) who also works at the asylum. When a hysterical young woman claims to have witnessed the killing, the adulterers conspire to have her committed! Anabel BULLDOG DRUMMOND STRIKES BACK Shaw is the vanilla flavored heroine and Frank CAPTAIN PHANTOM Latimore is the heoic detective brought in to save the day. Price delivers his performance with a minimum of scenery-chewing & WWII pin-up Bari (The Woo Woo Girl) femmes her fatale just enough to keep the turgid, B&W boat afloat. Average.

17. The Fifth Element (1997)

PG-13 | 126 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

52 Metascore

In the colorful future, a cab driver unwittingly becomes the central figure in the search for a legendary cosmic weapon to keep Evil and Mr. Zorg at bay.

Director: Luc Besson | Stars: Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, Ian Holm

Votes: 506,723 | Gross: $63.54M

Bruce MOONLIGHTING Willis is at his smirky, self-aware best as Korben Dallas; a Jetson-style cabbie in the 23rd century who is entrusted with a powerful weapon against evil in the form of a young humanoid woman named Leeloo. Frequent RESIDENT EVIL actress Mila Jovoich gives a star-making, fearless performance as the one woman army corps who can convert the power of love into a fifth element capable of obliterating a hellish celestial object on a collision course with earth. Gary HANNIBAL Oldman loses himself completely in the role of Zorg; a leader of industry who has become a minion of the darkness that threatens to consume our world every 5 millennium. Both he & Chris RUSH HOUR Tucker steal as many scenes as humanly possible with the help of some outlandish hairstyles, disturbing fashion choices and some funny, quotable dialogue. Tucker plays a Prince-inspired lounge entertainer aboard an orbital cruise ship who becomes drawn into the chaos when Korben & Leeloo attempt to retrieve magical stones hidden there before a squadron of heavily armed aliens find them first. THE FIFTH ELEMENT is an eye-popping fantasy of the magnitude of BLADE RUNNER and every penny of it's 90 million budget in onscreen with dazzling special effects & lipstick vibrant sets lit with neon & green screen. The story doesn't really hold up under any kind of scrutiny but with so much else going on you won't have time to catch your breath to notice! I'm giving THE FIFTH ELEMENT an additional star for Meiwenn Le Besco's show-stopping pop-opera appearance as a blue Diva who takes to the stage as the invasion begins. It's nothing short of movie magic. Rumors of an extramarital tryst between stars Willis & Jovoich didn't help box office & contributed to Demi Moore filing for divorce. THE FIFTH ELEMENT will remind fans of the more challenging films of director Terry Gilliam that are so densely packed with sophisticated visuals you won't be able to process all of it in one sitting. Regardless of it's lukewarm reception, this fondly remembered sci-fi adventure has a fiercely devoted cult of admirers.

18. Yongary, Monster from the Deep (1967)

PG | 80 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy

Earthquakes in central Korea turn out to be the work of Yongary, a prehistoric gasoline-eating reptile that soon goes on a rampage through Seoul.

Director: Kim Ki-duk | Stars: Yeong-il Oh, Jeong-im Nam, Lee Soon-jae, Moon Kang

Votes: 1,730

YONGARY is a prehistoric dinosaur awakened by nuclear weapons tests which causes earthquakes as it lumbers beneath the earth heading towards a reasonably well made miniature mock up of Seoul in this Korean kaiju obviously inspired by Toho's GOJIRA. The rubbery YONGARY suit bears more than a passing similarity to GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS creature design and was crafted by Masao Yagi, the same special effects wizard who created GAMERA THE INVINCIBLE for the Japanese studio Daiei. In between destructive rampages the beast befriends a awestruck little boy who teached it how to do the twist! This kid-friendly giant monster movie was picked up for American distribution by A.I.P. who packaged it for syndicated television as YONGARY: MONSTER OF THE DEEP. The original Korean print is considered a lost film with the americanized TV movie the only copy still known to exist. Remade towards the start of the millennium as YONGGARY.

19. Reptile 2001 (1999)

PG-13 | 99 min | Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi

It's been asleep for two hundred million years. Now it been awakened by aliens from another galaxy. The aliens are using Yonggary to destroy mankind.

Director: Hyung-rae Shim | Stars: Richard Livingston, Harrison Young, D.J. Robbins, Brad Sergi

Votes: 1,939

This Korean remake of the 1967 cult classic YONGARY: MONSTER OF THE DEEP was allegedly their most expensive film made up till that time. Any given episode of POWER RANGERS looks like PACIFIC RIM by comparison to YONGGARY which was released before the CG work was complete. For the American DVD the special effects were cleaned up a little but it's surprisingly amateurish. My biggest problem with the visuals is that after decades of watching rubbery kaiju monsters it's jarring to see one so cartoonishly rendered it appears to be made of plastic. During an excavation, miners discover the dormant remains of a 200 million year old dinosaur which roars unexpectedly back to life at the command of aliens who plan to use the city crushing beast to conquer our world. Dire.

The only thing worse than sitting through crowd-funded garbage like Full Moon's GINGERDEAD MAN is wasting an hour and a half of your life watching 'best of' clips from the franchise. The price of admission includes CG animations that wouldn't have cut it on playstation 2, gratuitous tiddy and a tiresome litany of poorly staged murders rehashed from titles like GINGERDEAD MAN VS EVIL BONG. Cutting corners even closer, Charles Band sandwiched the ugly, recycled footage between 'comic book panel action' as if that would sweeten the pot. Do yourself a favor & avoid this headache inducing DOG.

21. Patrick (1978)

Unrated | 96 min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi

A comatose hospital patient harasses and kills through his powers of telekinesis to claim his private nurse as his own.

Director: Richard Franklin | Stars: Susan Penhaligon, Robert Helpmann, Rod Mullinar, Bruce Barry

Votes: 3,973

Robert ROAD GAMES Thompson plays the uni-browed, pop-eyed psychopath PATRICK who has been comatose since the night he murdered his mother while she was having sex. The inhumane experiments conducted on his mute body unleash the young man's dormant telepathic ability. A recently hired nurse assigned to his bed believes that not only is the killer able to communicate but is somehow responsible for a string of terrifying intrusions into her personal life. Character actress Susan Penhaligon (who fans may remember from THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT) took the female lead in this fondly remembered and slightly under-rated Austrailian cult classic from director Richard Franklin and screen writer Everret STORM WARNING de Roche. Universal execs thought PATRICK was so clever & edge-of-your-seat scary they chose Franklin to direct PSYCHO II. An unauthorized sequel called PATRICK STILL LIVES hit grindhouses in 1980 in addition to the decades-later remake PATRICK: EVIL AWAKENS.

22. Patrick Still Lives (1980)

92 min | Crime, Horror, Sci-Fi

Five people receive an anonymous letter revealing a secret of theirs and inviting them to come stay at a mansion that houses a clinic run by a corrupt doctor who experiments on the brain of his comatose son.

Director: Mario Landi | Stars: Sacha Pitoëff, Gianni Dei, Mariangela Giordano, Carmen Russo

Votes: 959

This gruesome, unauthorized sequel to the cult classic PATRICK would be the final film for Italian director Mario Landi and co-star Sasha INFERNO Piteoff who plays the comatose young man's father who's experiments have created a telepathic monster. Piero INVASION OF THE ATOMIC ZOMBIES Regnoli's screenplay finds a group of travellers lured to the isolated estate where they are picked off by the psychic sadist. A lingering shot of a woman being slowly impalled by a stake driven up her vagina through gaping mouth will undoubtedly appeal to gorehounds but as disgusted as I was watching there's no denying it's power. As revolting as PATRICK STILL LIVES is, it works as a horror movie and despite it's obscurity deserves a look if you were a fan of genre favorites like CARRIE, THE FURY or SCANNERS back in the day. Followed by a franchise reboot in 2013.

23. Patrick: Evil Awakens (2013)

Not Rated | 96 min | Horror

48 Metascore

At a private clinic, a young nurse soon discovers that one of the comatose patients is quite sinister.

Director: Mark Hartley | Stars: Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths, Charles Dance, Peta Sergeant

Votes: 4,192

PATRICK: EVIL AWAKENS is a close remake of the cultish Austrailian horror pic from 1978. It was written & directed by documentary film-makers Mark Hartley & Justin King who collaborated on NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD: THE WILD UNTOLD STORY OF OZPLOITATION and starred HOME AND AWAY actors Shami Vinson & Jackson Gallagher. Vinson plays a pretty young nurse who suspects the inhumane experiments being conducted on the comatose body of Patrick (Gallagher) have unleashed in him a terrifying telepathic power. If the obsessed patient doesn't kill her the sinister Dr. Roget just might for meddling in his affairs. Charles GAME OF THRONES Dance is quite good as the Frankenstein-like scientist but the writer hasn't given him much to work with. It's obvious the director loves the original & has loaded this remake with clever references but he doesn't have the talent necessary to sell the material...not with the same authority & skill Richard Franklin brought to the table 35 years before. Above average in spite of itself.

24. Running Delilah (1993 TV Movie)

Ron Koslow who created the cultish BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tv series developed this unsold pilot about a government agent mortally wounded during a raid who is revived THE BIONIC WOMAN-style. SEX AND THE CITY star Kim Cattrall is just fine under the the steady hand of director Richard PSYCHO II Franklin and displays some on screen chemistry with the under-rated actor Billy DEAD CALM Zane cast as her new partner. The sci-fi elements are gently incorporated into the plot which focuses on action and the charismatic lead's growing rapport. If it made it to the fall schedule I would have watched.

25. Shadowchaser (1992 Video)

R | 97 min | Action, Sci-Fi

Terrorists with an indestructible robot take over a high-rise hospital in order to kidnap the president's daughter.

Director: John Eyres | Stars: Martin Kove, Meg Foster, Frank Zagarino, Paul Koslo

Votes: 842

John RIPPER: LETTER FROM HELL Eyres directed this low-budget rip-off of DIE HARD about a cyborg (Frank AIRBOSS IV: THE X-FACTOR Zagarino) who takes the President's daughter (Meg THEY LIVE Foster) hostage during the invasion of an office high-rise. Martin CROCODILE 2: DEATH SWAMP Cove plays a convicted criminal accidentally defrosted from his cryogenic prison by the authorities in the mistaken belief he's the architect who designed the tower. To mitigate his sentence, Cove must save the hostages & take out the terrorists. Not much bang for your action movie buck but it steals enough from better movies to at least make it endurable. Stephen XTRO 2: THE SECOND ENCOUNTER Lister wrote this formulaic video store rental which was followed by ARMED AND DANGEROUS, EDGE OF DARKNESS and SHADOWCHASER IV: THE GATES OF TIME.

STORM TROOPER was a noisy sci-fi/action pic from director Jim THE WASP WOMAN Wynorski which borrows elements of STAR WARS & THE TERMINATOR but comes up with only B-movie stock footage for this nicely cast but instantly forgotten thriller. A cyborg seeks the aid of a woman who finds her home under siege by futuristic (mostly unarmed) troops. Carol SNAKEHEAD TERROR Alt, John CRIMES OF PASSION Laughlin and Corey PUPPET MASTER VS DEMONIC TOYS Feldman star working from an inferior script by T.L. HOLLYWOOD CHAINSAW HOOKERS Lanford.

J. Christian Ingvordsen has toiled away for decades churning out movies you've never heard of like THE BOG CREATURES and AIRBOSS III: THE PAYBACK. CYBER VENGEANCE typifies what you can expect from the indie hack; gratuitous boob shots, photoshop quality special effects, lousy actors and ineptly choreographed action. The story (such as it is) concerns a virual reality prison of the future (2005) where inmates are sold as trophies to wealthy hunters up for a little THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME style action. CYBER VENGEANCE was shot using the same scant resources Ingvordsen had at his disposal for 1993's THE OUTING incuding sets & costumes but sat on the shelf till it found a distributer in 1997...a year after it's sequel ABSOLUTE AGGRESSION said hello to the bottom of Walmart's discount movie bin. Not that anyone noticed.

Frederick V.I. WARSHAWSKI Coffin & Michael JOY RIDE McCleery play a couple of inbred, backwoods savages who's mother has raised her pride and joy to rape and murder any women they find back packing through the woods. Beatrice CAR 54, WHERE ARE YOU? Pons plays the depraved biddy who's sadistic lessons in child rearing put the hillbillies into a twisted confrontation with a trio of lovely young campers who aren't going down without a fight. Charles FEROCIOUS FEMALE FREEDOM FIGHTERS Kaufman made this rather sickening mash-up of I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE & FRIDAY THE 13TH with a scripting assist from Warren LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT Leight. As repellant, noisy and downright bad as MOTHER'S DAY was I still found myself cheering for the ladies during the blood soaked final confrontation. This Troma release was given a superior remake in 2010.

The sadistic members of a villainous family return to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests.

Director: Darren Lynn Bousman | Stars: Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan

Votes: 18,387

Darren REPO: THE GENETIC OPERA Lynn Bousman directed this in-name-only reboot of Troma's 1980 cult exploitation flick MOTHER'S DAY based on a script by Scott Milan. Milan, as a 'writer' is best known for co-producing the last TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE sequel LEATHERFACE. Speaking of producers, Brett SANTA'S SLAY Ratner financed this unexpected remake before an onslaught of credible sexual abuse allegations derailed his once white-hot career. Rebecca THE SHINING De Mornay stars as Mrs. Koffin who (along with her insane family) crashes a birthday party hosted by a young, unhappily married couple and their friends. The Koffins are on the run having committed a string of crimes including murder, rape & bank robbery so need the cash hidden in what used to be their home before it's foreclosure. Additionally, the youngest son (Matt FRAILTY O'Leary) has been shot & requires 1st aid. As luck (and a contrived plot device) would have it a doctor (Shawn X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Ashmore) just so happens to be there celebrating. The doctor & Mrs. Koffin form an uneasy truce but soon, everyone is hacking at one another anyway with butcher knives or blowing each other's heads off with shotguns as this chaotic pic rushes to a conclusion you'll spot coming from a mile away. For a movie that allegedly cost 11 million to make the practical gore effects are surprisingly low end & unconvincing. De Mornay is rather fun at 1st as the demented mother who channels Martha Stewart and Shelley Winters circa BLOODY MAMA but the performance disintegrates with nothing but the promise of rape and torture to sustain the illusion. Close but no cigar. Troma's Lloyd & Charles Kaufman appear in cameo. Anchor Bay distributed this ugly, box office BOMB.

30. The Mummy Lives (1993)

PG-13 | 97 min | Horror

A mummy returns from the dead and becomes obsessed with a woman which he thinks is the reincarnation of his dead lover.

Director: Gerry O'Hara | Stars: Tony Curtis, Leslie Hardy, Greg Wrangler, Jacques Cohen

Votes: 426

This largely forgotten horror pic was informally based on Edgar Allan Poe's poem Some Words With a Mummy & was slated to begin production under the direction of Ken Russell with Anthony Perkins cast in the supernatural lead. Unfortunately, Perkins died from AIDS and the talented director bailed leaving producers scrambling to find suitable replacements. Eventually a horribly miscast Tony THE MANITOU Curtis was hired to play the ressurrected mummy Aziru who prowls Egypt in search of his reincarnated love. Sound familiar? Curtis looks like a deer caught in the headlights of a garbage truck every moment he's onscreen & costars Leslie MAYFLOWER MADAM Hardy and Greg BARBARIAN QUEEN II: THE EMPRESS STRIKES BACK Wrangler fair no better. This flavorless throw back to those fondly remembered Universal monster classics from the 1940s sank like a stone under the direction of Gary O'Hara and screenwriter Nelson BEYOND THE POSIEDON ADVENTURE Gidding both of whom quit the business immediately afterwards. Also known as EDGAR ALLAN POE'S THE MUMMY LIVES! Prove it.

R | 88 min | Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside.

Director: Umberto Lenzi | Stars: Hugo Stiglitz, Laura Trotter, Maria Rosaria Omaggio, Francisco Rabal

Votes: 6,734

Umberto EATEN ALIVE! Lenzi directed this Itallian copy of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD based on a screenplay by Antonio Cesaro Corti (AKA: Tony Corti) & Piero Regnoli who also wrote PATRICK STILL LIVES!. The film starred Hugo GUYANA: CRIME OF THE CENTURY Stiglitz as a reporter on the scene when a team of scientists make an emergency landing at an airport in Rome. Unfortunately the passengers who were all exposed to a mysterious radioactive element have been transformed into blood-drinking zombies. Mel EATEN ALIVE Ferrer plays the general called in to halt the infectious horde of smart, fast mutations as the city-wide death toll spirals into the thousands. A handful of characters make a break for the country in this competently made gut muncher which moves at a brisk pace & fills the screen with enough grue and gore to satisfy the fans. A heavily cut version eventually hit US video store shelves in 1983 as CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD or NIGHTMARE CITY which is also the title of the pending remake from famed make-up artist Tom Savini.

Votes: 19,373

Fresh off their infamous grindhouse classic ZOMBIE 2 Italian hack Lucio Fulci & co-author Dardano Secchetti produced this close copy of John Carpenter's THE FOG which many fans consider to be the 1st of a non sequitur trilogy which also includes THE BEYOND and THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY. Catriona MacColl who appeared in all 3 THE GATES OF HELL movies (the US title of CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD) plays a psychic named Mary who witnesses the suicide of a priest in the town of Dunwich while conducting a seance. The hanging of Father Thomas (Fabrizio THE PSYCHIC Jovine) on hallowed ground has opened a portal to the underworld where the priest now reigns dispatching all manner of supernatural horror in the form of vengeful spirit and flesh-ripping zombie on the helpless inhabitants of the fog shrouded community. Christopher PIECES George took top billing as a reporter who may be able to halt the invasion of the undead if he can rescue Mary from her premature burial first. Fulci has a ferocious fanbase among gore-hounds and they'll find much to love as power tools tear into human flesh and insides become outsides during unholy acts of regurgitation. Not for all tastes but recommended.

Notorious exploitation film-maker Umberto THE BLACK COBRA 4: DETECTIVE MALONE Lenzi wrote/directed MAKE THEM. DIE SLOWLY (AKA; CANNIBAL FEROX) which has become synominous with the disreputable genre. Giovanni Lombardo Radice & Lorraine de Selle (both from THE HOUSE AT THE EDGE OF THE PARK) play two explorers who; along with their friends have been captured by vengeful cannibals in the Amazon jungles. A bizarre sub plot featuring porn star Robert Kerman as a NY cop investiigating a drug deal gone bad helps pad the run time which is mostly fiilled wiith sexual torture, graphic mutilation, murder, rape and enough mondo footage of animals being butchered to keep this nausiating DOG on video nasty watch lists around the world to this very day. The musical score was recycled from another of Lenzi's cannibal cult classics; EATEN ALIVE.

Votes: 4,713

Sergio THE ISLAND OF THE FISHMEN Martino directed this nicely cast jungle adventure based on a script by Cesare THE FISHMEN AND THEIR QUEEN Frugoni. The lovely Ursula CLASH OF THE TITANS Andress undresses frequently as the grieving spouse of a lost explorer searching for her husband and maybe even a fortune in uranium buried on the MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBAL GOD (the US title when the word slave became less fashionable). She along with Stacey CHILDREN OF THE CORN 666: ISAAC'S RETURN Keach & Claudio AVALANCHE EXPRESS Cassinelli become captive of a tribe of cannibals in New Guinea. SLAVE OF THE CANNIBAL GOD isn't as gratuitously violent as most of the movies this disreputable genre has to offer and makes the most of nudity & puke-inducing mondo footage of animals being tortured and killed instead. This minor grindhouse cult classic served as an inspiration for Andress' ex-husband John Derek when he was directing his much-younger new wife Bo Derek in TARZAN: THE APE MAN.

I would rather have my kidneys cut out & sold on the black market to cannibals in Papua, New Guinea than watch I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE again. Meir DON'T MESS WITH MY SISTER! Zarchi artlessly directed this grindhouse cult classic about a woman (Camille WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE? Keaton) who is violently gang raped by 4 rednecks then left for dead. She unexpectedly rises from her shallow grave to exact her terrible revenge. After watching the lead be tortured and raped by four sadists for 35 minutes you'd think you'd be up for a little DEATH WISH-style payback but her insanely brutal acts of vigilantism and murder ultimately leave us with nobody to root for. She is every bit as monstrous as the animals who hurt her pussy. This infamous DOG outraged critics around the world where it was sometimes marketed as DAY OF THE WOMAN. A decades later remake was released in 2010 which spawned two direct sequels. Writer/director Zarchi & Keaton would team up for a direct sequel in 2019 called; I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU

Anchor Bay distributes bad movies and very occasionally makes them. I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE was probably the highest profile video they've made thus far tapping into the lucrative demographic of high school drop outs and domestic abusers. It was based on the repulsive grindhouse nasty DAY OF THE WOMAN & scripted by Adam THE CHRISTMAS MATCHMAKER Rockoff under the alias Stuart Morse. He and director Steven CHRISTMAS TREE LANE Monroe may have had concerns finding work making tv movies for the Hallmark Network after manufacturing this DOG. Sarah WOMAN ON THE EDGE Butler played a writer named Jennifer who's trip to a cabin in the woods turns into a nightmare of rape, torture and murder when local goons move in for the kill. She however survives the ordeal and rises from her premature burial to sexually mutilate & murder the gang rapists as payback. Andrew GIRLS AGAINST BOYS Howard, Jeff CHRISTMAS IN HOMESTEAD Branson & Daniel HEY THERE, BEAVER! Frazese round out the disgraced cast. Say what you will about the 1978 pic but it was undeniably provocative. This cheap, calculated copy merely inspires disgust. Followed inexplicably by two direct sequels and a spin-off called I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU in 2019 starring Buster Keaton's 72 year old granddaughter. Hawt.

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2 is a formal sequel to 2010's repulsive remake of the infamous 1978 grindhouse cult classic. It was clinically directed on a micro-budget by Steven 12 DISASTERS AT CHRISTMAS Monroe based on a barf-tastic script by Neil LAVALANTULA II: 2 LAVA 2 LANTULA! Elman with an unwelcome assist from Thomas Fenton who helped kill the torture porn market with SAW IV. This DOG was filmed in Bulgaria with a cast of unknown, desperate actors all of whom should be deeply ashamed. Pretty Jemma Dallender play an idiotic model who agrees to a free photo shoot with 3 grown Bulgarian rape babies who turned into sex slavers when they hit 18. The model is beaten, raped, framed for a crime she didn't commit, drugged, kidnapped, raped again, beaten, purple nurpled & peed on, since you asked so sweet. Later, after she escapes, she's kidapped again by the depraved trios rape-happy step mother (a gimpish slave procurred by their grotesque rapist father) and subjected to more rape, electro-torture and one last beating before being left to die in a box entombed in a sewer. After an effortless escape the young lady drowns a man in human waste, electrcutes a guy with a cattle prod, engages in sadistic gashing sessions (I'm not saying! Look it up!) & slowly crushes the photographer's testicles in a vice. FIN. I felt a little disgusted watching but it's got a TV movie slickness to it that undermines it's rough posturing. I was disgusted but in the way I might be if an unruly child had presented a freshly rooted snot on the tip of his finger for me to examine. From B movie distributer Anchor Bay. THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN was based on the short story appearing in Clive Barker's anthology Books of Blood. Barker also produced this genuinely suspenseful and jarringly violent shocker that easily ranks as highly as HELLRAISER or NIGHTBREED. Japanese director Ryuhei GODZILLA: FINAL WARS Kitamura treats his audience and the source material with respect. Peter O'Toole gives a utterly bravura, Oscar-worthy performance as Hollywood director Eli Cross; a megamaniacal perfectionist who's insistance on realism turns illusion into real life and maybe even real death. Steve LIFEFORCE Railsback has never been better as a paranoid, fugitive from the law who joins the cast of Eli's WWI drama when it's discovered the stunt man he's hired to replace may have died because of their actions. Barbara Hershey & Alex Rocco (both of whom starred in THE ENTITY) co-star in this brilliant drama from the always under appreciated Richard COLOR OF NIGHT Rush adapting the best selling novel by Paul Brodeur. Hershey is dazzling as starlette Nina Franklin; a flighty actress who despite her loyaly to Eli falls for the mysterious new stunt man. Rocco plays the small town sheriff looking to arrest the fugitive and hang a murder charge on the director if he can navigate his way through the deceptions and clever distractions. Rush had a notoriously difficult time making this masterpiece and struggled to find a distributer eventually suffering a heart attack from the stress associated with dealing with studio execs. THE STUNT MAN earned 3 Academy Award nominations (Best Actor: O'Toole, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay) and universal praise from critics around the world. Essential viewing for cinema buffs who like their movies smart, quotable and laced with truth and jet black comedy. Dusty Springfield's contribution to the soundtrack are also worthy of note. Quentin Tarantino produced this unexpectedly awful biker movie homage from triple threat Larry Bishop; a genre defining actor who got his start with Richard Rush's cult classic THE SAVAGE 7. Larry the director should have fired Larry the actor who was way too old for the part and insisted Larry the writer redo every scene after the opening credits which borrowed liberally from EASY RIDER. Pistolero (Bishop) went into hiding after his road house mother was murdered by the leader of The Sixers (John KILL BILL VOL. 2 Caradine). Now he's all grown up (60 in Larry years) looking for payback. It's hard to say if Caradine is any good because his character has so little screentime. Dennis BLUE VELVET Hopper also lends his marquee value as special guest star but phones it in. Michael THE HATEFUL 8 Madsen and Eric DINOSHARK Balfour over-act to compensate for a flacid script but are defeated by an avalache of cliches. A.I.P. picked up GAPPA: THE TRIPHIBIAN MONSTER for distribution on American television as MONSTER FROM A PREHISTORIC PLANET but it's been heavily cut & poorly dubbed and I'd recommend searching for the original Japanese print if you can find it. Tamio kawachi (a prolific character actor frequently associated with the vast ULTRAMAN universe) starred in this nifty kaiju cult classic which borrows elements of GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, MOTHRA VS GODZILLA and the British sci-fi classic GORGO. A team of adventurers find a winged, reptilian baby Gappa and transport him to Japan against the warnings of the natives on the volcanic island where he was discovered. The cute critter's parents (towering behemoths from the triphibian age) rain fire and destruction on the nicely constructed miniature sets in search of their stolen hatchling. A side plot (in actuality a 2nd terrible film cut into the 1st) features a detective on the hunt for a murderous pimp with kung fu super-powers. For a movie with the name 'Ninja' in the title this one's surprisingly free of martial arts action (or any action really) as it coasts towards a head-scratching finale featuring a ninja gunfight. This DOG is also ridiculously dubbed & loaded with cringe-worthy dialogue. One of the least interesting of Ho's cinematic failures and another reason he's considered China's answer to Ed Wood.

Initially, I tried watching RETURN OF THE KUNG FU DRAGON in the full screen, English dubbed version but was hopelessly lost so switched to a letterbox print in the original Taiwanese language hoping something would begin to make sense. It didn't but on the other hand I wasn't bored for a second. From what I could figure the peaceful villagers of the Golden City on Phoenix Island are under seige by the army of a tyranical warlord. A team of villagers armed with fantastic magic kung fu super powers set out to destroy him before he learns their secrets which include shapeshifting, burroughing underground, flight, invisibility, etc. The martial artistry is beautifully choreographed and fills the screen from start to finish while incorporating plenty of DRUNKEN MASTER-style gags. The special effects are equally ambitious and awful but are edited at a lightning pace so you don't have time for compliments or complaint. I didn't hate it but it's hard to recommend.

This was the directorial debut of Monte SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT 3: BETTER WATCH OUT Hellman after his wife Barboura Morris introduced him to her lover; producer Roger Corman. The story by screenwriter Charles Griffith was essentially his earlier film NAKED PARADISE remade with a monster. It's a formula Corman has recycled consistently over the decades with B-movie fare like UP FROM THE DEPTHS, THE CREATURE FROM THE HAUNTED SEA and DINOSHARK. Gene and his brother Roger made BEAST FROM THE HAUNTED CAVE back-to-back with SKI TROOP ATTACK with the same cast & crew (including star Michael Forest) although it would be released as a double-feature with another B&W cult classic; THE WASP WOMAN. Frank SARTANA THE GRAVEDIGGER Wolff plays a murderous bank robber who has a fool proof plan to steal a fortune in gold using an explosion in a nearby cave as a distraction. Director: Roberto Bianchi Montero | Stars: Boris Karloff, Franca Marzi, Renato Vicario, Patrizia Remiddi

Boris THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Karloff starred in this turgid & obscure crime drama marketed in North America as ISLAND MONSTER to exploit the lead's popularity within the horror genre. Here, he plays a drug-smuggling kidnapper operating out of a secret base off the Italian coast. This may play slightly better in the non-English dubbed format but it's still Karloff's least interesting pic Flatly directed & confusingly scripted by Roberto Bianco Montero. B&W

Director: Tom McGowan | Stars: Maurice Grandmaison, Paul Wharton, John Mason, Stephen Cracroft

SAVAGE JOURNEY plays like a recruitment film for the Mormon faith and tells of their historic trek to establish Utah. It's all very glossy & superficial & terribly uneventful. Future NIGHT COURT star Richard Moll pops up briefly in the cast of this largely forgotten tv movie. This would be the final film for director Tom McGowan although portions of his 1980 horror pic CATACLYSM would be recycled in 1985 for the notoriously bad anthology NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR by screenwriter Philip Yardon who also penned this faux documentary.

Even with a run time of under an hour this black and white, Mexican made jungle adventure feels like it goes on forever. This would be the only theatrical credit for star Ron Randell & writer/director Leon Leonard who based this obscure DOG on the 1849 novel 'Omoo' by Herman Melville. This poverty row cheapie looks decades older than it is.

Director: Harry L. Fraser | Stars: Violet Hilton, Daisy Hilton, Mario Laval, Allen Jenkins

Votes: 501

Real-life co-joined twins Daisy & Violet Hilton who made their shocking debut in the infamous Todd Browning masterpiece; FREAKS memorably returned to the screen a 2nd (and final) time with this cult classic exploitation pic from director Harry I ACCUSE MY PARENTS Frasier. Daisy plays a Siamese twin named Dorothy who marries a scoundrel out of fear she'll never have another chance at love. When Dorothy's sister Violet discovers the cad's been carrying on with a two armed floozy she shoots him dead! The B&W melodrama was told as a series of flashbacks which resolves itself on an especially unsatisfying note when the judge presiding over the murder trial breaks the fourth wall to ask the audience decide for themselves the fate of the married sister who had no knowledge of her husband's affair nor had any involvement in his murder. As trashy and tacky as CHAINED FOR LIFE is, there's no denying it's camp appeal & it scores a few points for novelty's sake. Cinematic masochists will appreciate this serious contender for 'Worst Movie Ever Made' more than most.

Cautionary tale that features a fictionalized take on marijuana use. A trio of drug dealers lead innocent teenagers to become addicted to "reefer" cigarettes by holding wild parties with jazz music.

Votes: 9,353

Film critic Leonard Maltin once described REEFER MADNESS as the grandfather of the Worst Movie Ever Made and he ain't lying! This hyperventilating expose of teenage marijuana use from producer Dwain MANIAC Esper was narrated by a high school principal as a cautionary tale for parents. In fact, the original title of the beloved DOG was TELL YOUR CHILDREN. Carlton THE SCHILTZ PLAYHOUSE OF STARS Young & Thelma HIPS, HIPS, HURRAY! White play a shacked-up couple of dope fiends who lure innocent high school students with the promise of marijuana. Naturally one puff of the stuff leads the kids into a B&W world of insanity, murder & death. Dave BUZZY AND THE MAGIC PINTO O'Brien & Dorothy ASSASSIN OF YOUTH Short co-starred in this genuine cult classic that found a 2nd life as a midnight movie across college campuses in the early 70s. French director Louis Gasnier who built his reputation with silent era serials like THE PERILS OF PAULINE saw his career spiral into obscurity with the advent of 'talkies' and sadly never lived long enough to see REEFER MADNESS become part of the pop culture lexicon nor did screenwriter Arthur JUNGLE MADNESS Hoert. New Line Cinema's Robert Shane distributed the nearly forgotten film to video stores after discovering the copyright lapsed it was now public domain. His company made millions as did Fox & Legendary pictures who created a trippy colorized print. Nova Scotia, Halifax's Bus Stop Theatre produced their own stage version in 2013 which hardcore fans may want to give a look on You Tube while a remake entitled REEFER MADNESS: THE MUSICAL MOVIE hit tv screens in 2005.

Eight college students board a houseboat for their spring vacation that promises to be the best of their young lives...how many will survive?

Director: Tobe Hooper | Stars: Mark McLachlan, Caitlin Martin, Chris Solari, D.W. Reiser

Votes: 4,777

Genre darling Tobe THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 Hooper directed this run-of-the-mill but slightly-above-average tv movie rip off of LAKE PLACID for the SyFy Network. A host of writers contributed their B-movie expertice to this generic tale of an enormous crocodile devouring anyone who gets close to it's nest of eggs. 4 writers may seem excessive for such a formulaic adventure but CROCODILE also manages to spin it's cliches with more grace than you'd expect courtesy of Micheal OCTOPUS 2: RIVER OF DEATH Weiss, Boaz SPIDERS 2: BREEDING GROUND Davidson, Jace MORTUARY Anderson & Adam TOOLBOX MURDERS Gierson. Where this entertaining pic drops the ball is casting. The young leads are surprisingly unseasoned and uniformly fell into obscurity. The special CG FX are every bit as cheap as we've come to expect from this lowly medium and the practical monster make ups are worse but they're plentiful and cleverly reference everything from ANACONDA to JAWS to the director's 1976 killer croc cult classic EATEN ALIVE so you won't be bored. CROCODILE 2: DEATH SWAMP hit TV screens in 2002.

Director: Gary Jones | Stars: Heidi Lenhart, Chuck Walczak, Jon Sklaroff, Darryl Theirse

Votes: 2,254

Indie special-FX man turned director Gary BOOGEYMAN 3 Jones threw together this okay TV movie sequel to Tobe Hooper's minor ratings hit; CROCODILE. A gang of murderous bank-robbers hijack a plane but when it crashes in the swamp all aboard become the easy prey of a gigantic, man-eating crocodile. The bargain CG effects and practical mock ups appear to have been recycled and there's less time devoted to the horror elements overall, this time around. The writers (Adam MOTHER OF TEARS Giersch, Jace TOOLBOX MURDERS Anderson & Boaz DELTA FORCE 3: THE KILLING GAME Davidson) helped themselves to the character dynamic fans will recognise immediately from Robert Rodriguez' FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. It doesn't succeed nearly as well within the context of CROCODILE 2: DEATH SWAMP but it does bolster the suspense having human killers roaming free when less time's been set aside for the monster due to budgetary concerns. Not as much fun as the original but above average for it's type. Look for Tarantino favorite James Parks; son of Michael Parks, in a supporting role.

Votes: 8,714

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE's Tobe Hooper and his writing partner Kim Henkle had their work cut out for them when they agreed to make this disturbing horror movie for hack producer Mohammed DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN Rustam. Rustam was combative and abusive to the point Hooper quit during the final week over script changes made by Alvin SATAN'S CHEERLEADERS Fast and Mardi EVILS OF THE NIGHT Rustam. His departure ultimately left DEATH TRAP slightly damaged and burdened with bad publicity however, looking back it's still one of the strongest pictures on Hooper's irratic resume. Neville THE NINTH CONFIGUATION Brand gives the performance of a lifetime as the stark, raving mad proprietor of the Starlight Hotel who tortures his guests before feeding their mutilated corpses to his ferocious pet crocodile. This loud, claustrophobic and deeply unsettling exploitation pic wallows in violent sexual perversion while smartly referrencing PSYCHO and their own 1974 cult classic. The story was inspired by RL serial killer Joe ' The Alligator Man' Ball who prowled Texas during the 1930s. The cast is loaded with genre favorites including Stuart RUBY Whitman, Caroline THE ADDAMS FAMILY Jones, Robert A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET England, William PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE Finney and Marilyn TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Burns as if you need another reason to watch (what I consider to be) one of the most under-rated shockers of the decade. Highly recommended. Also known as STARLIGHT SLAUGHTER and EATEN ALIVE.

This B&W DOG is widely considered to be one of the worst movies ever made & starred William LIFEGUARD Joyce as a writer sent to the Caribbean to investigate reports of zombies! Del I EAT YOUR SKIN Tenney directed this below average B&W rip-off of PREMATURE BURIAL with the financial blessing of Alan Iselin who owned a drive-in theatre chain. The pair released this hoary gothic mystery double-billed with THE HORROR OF THE BEACH PARTY. Roy JAWS 2 Scheider (in his film debut) plays the drunken son of a brutal tyrant who terrorized his family in life and is suspected of assassinating each from beyond the grave in sadistic fashion. THE CURSE OF THE LIVING CORPSE isn't even remotely bad as a few of Tenney's notorious DOGS which rank among the worst ever committed to film but that's hardly an endorsement. The pic is rotten with cliches and the killer's identity will come as no surprise. Margaret Hartman who co-stars as the widow of the deceased was the RL wife of the director. Genre addicts with find it more tolerable than most.

Roebuck plays a desperately horny high school kid who gets teleported into the prehistoric past where he meets a hot CAVEGIRL named Eba (Cynthia NOT OF THIS EARTH Thompson). Much of the low-brow humor is derived from the tribes chief (also Eba's father) relentlessly cock-blocking the young man. If you're a fan of Crown International you'll be a tad more receptive and forgiving of CAVEGIRL and may even want to take a look at Daniel Roebuck's 2013 documentary CAVEGIRL: A SECOND JOURNEY BACK IN TIME

STEEL was a DC comic book hero created by Louise Simonson & John Bagdanov which Quincy MAHOGANY Jones thought would make a fine role model because of his SUPERMAN like ability & ties to the black community. Basketball star Shaquille KAZAAM! O'Neil was hired to play John Henry Irons who builds an armoured super-suit to take down the weapons dealer who left his girlfriend Susan (Annabeth THE X FILES Gish) in a wheelchair. An unimposing Judd CYBERMUTT Nelson plays the treacherous villain and Richard COACH Roundtree lends some much needed personality as STEEL's uncle Joe. STEEL bombed and got lousy reviews but I didn't think it was THAT bad! Writer/director Kenneth Johnson was best known for television series like THE BIONIC WOMAN & THE INCREDIBLE HULK so it's no surprise STEEL doesn't carry a lot of cinematic weight. I didn't hate it. I hated the song MEN OF STEEL that rapped along to the end credits courtesy of Ice Cube, KRS-one, B-Real & Shaquille. I'm still taking advil for it! I think it bombed because another comic book themed pic called; SPAWN hit theaters 2 weeks before becoming the 1st black superhero to carry his own theatrical feature contrary to the not-too-swift Marvel fans who insist the honor goes to BLADE.

The sheriff (Charles MACON COUNTY JAIL Napier) calls in a big game hunter (Costas SAW IV Mandylor) to help take the monster down in this OK tv movie produced in conjunction with the SciFi channel & the legendary producer; Roger Corman. Director Kevin SHARKTOPUS VS WHALEWOLF O'Neil (who also designed the CG FX) wisely keeps the giant crocodile under wraps most of the time permitting audiences to mostly glimpse it on the peripheral of their screens until it's required for a jump scare. Jane ALIEN NATION: THE UDARA LEGACY Longnecker & Bruce HILL STREET BLUES Weis co-starred in this marginally passable creature feature which was sequeled by 2010's DINOCROC VS SUPERGATOR.

To contain the threat the owner of the lab hires mercenaries, assassins & a big game hunter to kill any witnesses to his diabolical experiments and the creatures devouring everyone in their path. David KILL BILL VOL. 2 Carradine plays the evil industrialist and Rob COWBOYS VS DINOSAURS Hillis leaves a good impression as the Cajun monster-hunter. Legendary film-maker Roger Corman and director Richard ANGELS DIE HARD Compton collaborated on this bleak revenge thriller along with producer/co-author Max Baer, Jr. Baer also plays the Sheriff of the Macon County, Georgia who terrorizes a pair of young men he mistakenly believes were responsible for the rape/murder of his wife. Real life bothers Alan & Jessie Vint (who also worked together in 1974's disaster movie epic; EARTHQUAKE) play siblings Chris and Wayne Dixon who (along with a lovely hitch-hiker) become stranded in the redneck town when their car breaks down. Baer is so good as the crazed policeman out for blood you'll complely forget his decade long run as Jethro on THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES. Leif WALKING TALL PART II Garrett has a pivital role as Sheriff Morgan's teenage son who is drawn into the unfolding tragety at a terrible price. All four leads are at the top of their game in this suprise hit from New World Pictures which went on to gross 18 million agaist a 200k budget. Like a number of films released at the time (THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, JACKSON COUNTY JAIL, WALKING TALL etc) the ficticious MACON COUNTY LINE billed itself as a 'true story'. The movie which does have an undeniable under current of authenticity was followed by the inferior RETURN TO MACON COUNTY in 1975 and the 1997 direct-to-video sequel MACON COUNTY JAIL.

Nick THE PRINCE OF TIDES Nolte (making his film debut) & future MIAMI VICE star Don Johnson play a pair of drag racers who pick up a beautiful hitch-hiker (the relatively unknown Robin Mattson) while on their way to a competition on the west coast. While traveling through the backwards county of Macon, Georgia circa 1958. The innocent trio are drawn into a life or death struggle when they catch the eye of a maniacal sheriff (Robert VALLEY OF THE DOLLS Viharo). Richard ANGELS DIE HARD Compton made this lesser-than prequel to MACON COUNTY LINE with the blessing of Max THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES Baer in exchange for a profit share at the box office. I'm giving this OK crime drama from A.I.P. an extra star for the exceptional cast; especially Robin Mattson who rarely headlined theatrical features but became a major star on daytime television appearing in hits like GENERAL HOSPITAL, SANTA BARBARA & ALL MY CHILDREN. Followed by MACON COUNTY JAIL in 1997.

Notoriously tight-fisted Roger Corman lavishly produced AVALANCHE on a 5 million dollar budget through his New World Pictures secure in the knowledge he'd see half his investment back when he sold it to network tv. The disaster movie genre which had a decade-long stranglehold on the box office was falling from favor by the time AVALANCHE very briefly played in theaters. It was written by Frances DINOCROC Doel, Gavin WHOEVER SLEW AUNTIE ROO Lambert & director Cory THE RETURN OF FRANK CANNON Allen and starred Rock DYNASTY Hudson & Mia SUPERGIL Farrow as former lovers who reunite for the grand opening of his ski resort. The pair are unappealing together and badly dressed in retina-seering 70s fashions. Robert TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN Forster plays an environmentalist who believes an avalache is eminent and that Mia would look better on his arm. Their tepid love triangle occupies about 3/4 of this DOG until the promised disaster finally arrives in the form of styrofoam snow and stock footage. Much of the soundtrack was recycled from the 1977 Ron Howard pic GRAND THEFT AUTO & as iffy as the special effects work were they'd be sold to A.I.P. to help pad their own disaster movie flop METEOR. The not-quite all-star cast also includes Anthony A BUCKET OF BLOOD Carbone & Jeanette THE WILD WOMEN OF CHASTITY GULCH Nolan as Rock's similarly-aged mom. The Official Razzie Movie Guide correctly identifies AVALANCHE as being one of the 100 most amusingly bad movies ever made. It's certainly one of the worst but I do love it so.

She plays a recently separated woman who's car & identification is stolen by a hitch-hiker (Robert DJANGO UNCHAINED Carradine). When she attempts to report the theft she's set upon by the corrupt rural police who cart her off to the JACKSON COUNTY JAIL where she meets an accused killer played by Tommy U.S. MARSHALS Lee Jones. After she beats a rapist/deputy to death the pair make a break for freedom in a stolen pick up with the police in hot pursuit. JACKSON COUNTY JAIL was a minor success in drive-in theaters and grindhouses but became a certified ratings hit on CBS who naturally wanted a weekly series. JACKSON COUNTY JAIL was drastically re-edited incorporating an hour of new footage creating a pilot film with Mimieux cast as a female version of THE FUGITIVE. Ironically, Jones (who would go on to star in a big screen adaptation of THE FUGITIVE) ended up on the cutting room floor when the tv movie sequel was being prepped. OUTSIDE CHANCE didn't make it to the 1979 fall schedule but you'll definately want to check it out. Micheal SILENT RAGE Miller directed this genuine cult classic working from a script by future Oscar winner Donald MISSING Stewart. A remake called MACON COUNTY JAIL hit video stores in 1997.

THE COMPANY OF WOLVES is one of the best movies about werewolves ever made in addition to being the most visually striking & the most unflinchingly erotic. Neil BREAKFAST ON PLUTO Jordan based his film on a short story by Angela Carter which unfolds as a series of surreal, terrifying stories told through the dreams of a pretty, 13 year old girl named Rosaleen. In her feverish dream we see Rosaleen's sister pursued through the forest by wolves and are introduced to her family. David TWIN PEAKS Warner & Tusse RKO 281 Silberg are the pioneering parents stricken with grief and beloved actress Angela MURDER SHE WROTE Landsbury is the girl's prim grandmother who lives at the other end of the path through a lush, foreboding forest which is fraught with temptations and magic. Landsbury is a delight spinning fables as she knits a red, hooded shawl for her grandchild and 13 year old actress Sarah Patterson (who I only saw again in the attrocious Cannon musical SNOW WHITE) is mesmerizing as Rosaleen. THE COMPANY OF WOLVES is an R-Rated horror fantasy loaded with sexual themes which young Miss Patterson handles with grace. It's the most bravora performance by a young actress since Jodie Foster's work in TAXI DRIVER or THE LITTLLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE. The supporting cast are all equally deserving of a standing ovation; Stephen THE CRYING GAME Rea, Terrance THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA: QUEEN OF THE DESERT Stamp, Brian AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON Glover and especially Micha Bergese who also appeared in Jordan's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. Bergese plays the seductive Huntsman who entices red riding hood to stray from the path. The special effects in this British production are inventively staged and augmented with stylish art direction and an evocative score. If you haven't seen THE COMPANY OF WOLVES, as a horror fan; don't you think you should? You'll be glad you did, I bet!

Cillian SUNSHINE Murphy gives a Golden Globe nominated performance as a gender-bending young man named Pat living his life on the fringe of London society as a woman named 'Kitten'. From his difficult upbringing as an abandoned youth in Ireland to his starry-eyed reunion with his long lost parents Murphy is uniformly excellent in this heavily sanitized adaption of the extensively exaggerated autobiography of the same name by Pat McCabe. The author also assisted director Neil Jordan with the mostly engaging screenplay drawn from the knowing, frequently witty pages of his book. Jordan explored similar material more successfully for 1992's THE CRYING GAME but I'd still recommend BREAKFAST ON PLUTO unconditionally. Murphy captures the essence of what it meant to be a transvestite in the 70s. The fantastic costumes and hit-laden soundtrack will also put a smile on those who recall fondly the lyrics to songs like Wig Wam Bam, Honey & Sugar Baby Love. Stephen INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Rhea & Liam STAR WARS EPISODE IX: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Neeson co-starred in this rose-colored, fanciful melodrama.

IN DREAMS is a stylish looking supernatural mystery based on the instantly forgettable novel; Doll's Eyes by Bari Wood. Neither writer Bruce THE KILLING FIELDS Robinson nor director Neil THE COMPANY OF WOLVES Jordan bring anything fresh to the slightly confusing tale of a woman driven mad by visions of a submerged town & the recent kidnapping of her daughter. Annette CAPTAIN MARVEL Benning & Aiden JONAH HEX Quinn take top billing for their performances as the missing girl's endangered parents and Robert AVENGER'S ENDGAME Downey, Jr. plays the most likely suspect. Downey who was in the throes of narcotics addiction at the time delivers an especially disappointing performance as does the bland Paul HOWARD THE DUCK Guilfoyle as the detective investigating the vaguely surreal murders. An unusually weak thriller considering the talent involved. Filmed in 1997 but sat on the shelf for 2 years.

Stuart DAGON Gordon directed this modestly successful science fiction prison break pic with his usual wit, creativity & camp sensibility propelling it along at a reasonable pace. The cast makes the most of the paper-thin characters & cliches the writers stuck them with and are clearly having fun with the material. Christopher Lambert (of the HIGHLANDER franchise) & JAG actress Loryn Lochlin play a married couple imprisoned in the FORTRESS for their crime of conceiving a second baby. One child only is the law of the Orwellian land and violators are confined in a 32 storey impenetrable fascility beneath an irradiated desert. Prisoners are implanted with explosive devices called intestinators to enforce obedience. While the separated spouses fend off prison rape and try to figure a way out the warden (Kurtwood THAT 70'S SHOW Smith) becomes obsessed with Karen Brennick and uses the automated Men-Tel computer to torture her decidedly non-compliant husband who's planning a daring escape with his motley cellmates to save the life of his wife & unborn child. Smith isn't especially imposing as the villainous protagonist but compensates by being extra-creepy. His merciless computerized assistant Zed doles out punishment & death via the intestinators or the cyborg guards at her command. The director's wife Carolyn DOLLS Purdy-Gordon voice acted the the role of Zed while Lincoln THE OMEGA MAN Kilpatrick, Clifton WESTWORLD Collins & Jeffrey FROM BEYOND Coombs contribute what they can as John Brennick's cell mates. Writers Troy Neighbors & Steven Fienberg would re-unite for Lambert's 2000 sequel; FORTRESS 2: RE-ENTRY. Beware of later prints which censor some of the nudity, gore & which leaves the monster truck finale on the cutting room floor.

Indie horror cult icon Stuart THE RE-ANIMATOR Gordon may have chosen to direct this pedestrian vampire drama for the trip to Hungary where this cable TV movie was shot. It certainly wasn't Andrew HOUSE OF SECRETS Laskin's predictable script. Mia BIRDS OF PREY Sara plays an American drawn to the old country in seach for clues to her estranged father's identity. Top-billed guest star Anthony PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINING Perkins plays her father; a powerful vampire determined to protect his human child from a mutant species of blood thirsty monsters led by the unexpectedly charismatic Robert Reynolds who entirely failed to make any impression in HOWLING VI: THE FREAKS. With the help of a U.S. diplomat (DYNASTY's Jack Coleman) the family is reunited but all their lives are at wooden stake with the undead closing in! The special effects are low end and doled out sparingly. The gimmick of elongated, fanged tongues isn't all that interesting & the likeable cast just barely keeps DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS tolerable until the nicely stage finale set in the catacombs beneath the city. Super-duper average.

Writer/director Ling DEADLY SNAKE VERSUS KUNG FU KILLERS Shang began his brief career with this lowly chopsocky adventure from 1973. CITY NINJA star Michael Wai-Man Chen lacks grace & charisma as a surviving brother who seeks revenge against a gang of jewel thieves terrorizing the law abiding citizens of Thailand. The Kung Fu action is lacking in energy and the production has such a generic look you'd never suspect you were in one of the most colorful and beautiful countries on earth. In addition to being badly dubbed SPIRITS OF BRUCE LEE invites a certain amount of contempt for exploiting the name of superstar Lee who; being dead, contributed nothing to this drab beat-'em-up.

Director: Scott Wheeler | Stars: John Hennigan, Jamie Bernadette, Josh Fingerhut, Wayne 'Crescendo' Ward

Votes: 447

The blurb on the box promises an adventure in the tradition of INDIANA JONES and THOR. Truthfully, it's not even as good as The Asylum's ALMIGHTY THOR or their unrelated 2010 pic; THE 7 ADVENTURES OF SINBAD which at least had a few CG monsters to look at. Former WWE superstar John HERCULES REBORN Morrison stars as a modern-day incarnation of Sinbad trying to solve the mythical mystery of the fabled jewel known as 'the heart of medusa' which has awakened 3 Furies that now pose a threat to him & his love interest Jamie I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE: DEJA VU Bernadette. Additionally a gay mobster (comic relief mostly) is looking for the magic gem to power his medusa ray gun and his goons will stop at nothing to claim the treasure for their own. Boring, Badly acted & what little you get by way of special effects is strictly bottom-of-the-barrel. Directed by Scott AVALANCHE SHARKS Wheeler based on a lousy script by Scott THE COED & THE ZOMBIE STONER Mullen.

DEXTER was an enormously successful suspense/anthology series which aired for 8 critically acclaimed seasons on Showtime. The series was based on Jeff Lindsay's popular novel Darkly, Dreaming Dexter and it's sequels. Producer James THE SOPRANOS Manos developed the best-selling mysteries with Michael SIX FEET UNDER Hall cast as serial killer Dexter Morgan; an unassuming blood-splatter analyst with Miami homicide. Morgan has certain blood related fetishes associated with his gruesome murders and codes of conduct written into his abnormal psychology by his deceased father who was also a policeman. James BLACK LIGHTNIGHT Remar appears as DEXTER's dad throughout in visions or flashbacks. Since the time he realized his adopted son was a homicidal psychopath, he brainwashed his heir to channel his perverse rage towards killers who escaped prosecution for their crimes. Manos chose to explain Dexter's 'Dark Passenger' in psychological terms while Lindsay's origin defines the entity satisfying it's sadistic lust through Morgan as an ancient, microbial lifeform which fell to earth like Lucifer cast down from Heaven. The conceit of DEXTER is it's ability to make audiences relate to a depraved monster. They portray him as being a) a traumatized survivor who as an infant watched his mom get chainsawed b) the victim of demonic/alien possession and c) an anti-hero bringing vigilante justice DEATH WISH-style to those who think they're above the law. In the end the concept works because Hall is brilliant, endlessly fascinating & utterly convincing while the gruesome storylines wisely segways past the overt gore that made the similar HANNIBAL difficult to embrace. The Emmys rewarded Hall with 5 consecutive Best Actor mominations as a tribute to having created a classic television detective of the calibre of Peter Falk's COLUMBO. And I say COLUMBO because that's how I approached DEXTER as an entertaiment. You start each episode knowing the identity of the killer and wait for the clever plot twist that exposes his crime. Loved Hall but what kept me watching throughout the not-entirely-consistant run of the show was my desire to see him caught. Each season saw DEXTER match wits with a different diabolical murderer with the creem d 'la creme of Hollywood begging their agents to book them on the show. High-profile guest stars involved in major story arcs include Edward BATTLESTAR GALACTICA James Olmos, Charlotte BASIC INSTINCT 2 Rampling, John 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN Lithgow, Colin FARGO Hanks, Ronny Cox & Peter Weller both of ROBOCP joining regular castmates; David Zayas, Lauren Velez & Erik King (all 3 having featured roles in the prison drama OZ). DEXTER's sister & fellow cop was played beautifully by Hall's RL wife (briefly) Jennifer QUARANTINE Carpenter while his TV marriage was to Julie ANGEL Benz (briefly). DEXTER recieved dozens of Emmy nominations during it's highly rated run including 4 consecutive nods for Best Series. Showtime has announced a 10 part encore season which will debut in 2021.

Joanna Eberhart has come to the quaint little town of Stepford, Connecticut with her family, but soon discovers there lies a sinister truth in the all too perfect behavior of the female residents.

Director: Bryan Forbes | Stars: Katharine Ross, Paula Prentiss, Peter Masterson, Nanette Newman

Votes: 19,581 | Gross: $8.72M

THE STEPFORD WIVES was based on the classic horror novel by Ira Levin who is also famously known for the similar ROSEMARY'S BABY. Oscar winner William MAGIC Goldman handled the screeplay for director Bryan INTERNATIONAL VELVET Forbes. The story concerns a big-city family of 3 who relocate the placid and gentile community of Stepford where the women are eerily docile, without personality & completely submissive to the desires of their husbands. They bake, clean & raise kids like they're on an assembly line. Naturally the latest Stepford wife Joanna Eberhart (Katherine DYNASTY II: THE COLBYS Ross) is horrified to find an entire community of women who seem partially lobotomized or in some drug-induced state. By the time her free-spirited pal Tina LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED TO ROSEMARY'S BABY Louise becomes a mindless hausfrau Joanna begins to suspect her computer nerd husband Walter (Peter DELTA COUNTY USA Masterson) has been up to no good and all the other ex-Disney animators are hiding a secret in the Men's Association. THE STEPFORD WIVES is a fondly remembered minor horror classic that played to more appreciative audiences on network TV than it ever did in theatres. Nothing about it ever catches fire and Forbes doesn't put a lot of effort into generating suspense. Even the musical cues sound stock. It all unfolds in a predictable fashion with not a scare to be had. The interesting cast also includes Masterson's RL kid Mary FRIED GREEN TOMATOES Stuart Masterson as Joanna & Walter's teenage daughter. The director's real-life partner Nanette CAPTAIN NEMO AND THE UNDERWATER CITY Newman had a supporting role as a domestic robot as did Paula WHERE THE BOYS ARE Prentiss. The term 'Stepford Wife' was immediately embraced into the pop culture lexicon where it retains relevance nearly 50 years later. Followed by REVENGE OF THE STEFORD WIVES (1980), THE STEPFORD CHILDREN (1987), THE STEPFORD HUSBANDS (1996) and a disastrously unpopular remake in 2004 starring Nicole Kidman.

Votes: 507

Robert THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES Fuest directed this okay TV movie sequel to the classic 1972 novel THE STEPFORD WIVES and it's popular big screen adaptation. The script provided by novelist David Wiltse is relatively free of any overt violence or bloodshed but the town of Stepford, Connecticut holds a certain allure that should keep genre addicts reasonably glued to their screens anyway. Sharon THE EXORCIST Gless plays a nosy reporter investigating the death of a young married couple seen fleeing the exclusive suburban paradise of Stepford. All clues point to a mysterious Men's Association led by Arthur FUTUREWORLD Hill. The voice of Marge Simpson; Julie Kavner plays Gless's best friend who fears her husband with the Stepford police department might be involved in a conspiracy to drug women into a tranquil, compliant state. Appearances by Don FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES Johnson & Audra THE ROPERS Lindley sweeten the gently simmering pot. Sequeled by; THE STEPFORD CHILDREN.

This obscure TV movie sequel to the 1975 thriller THE STEPFORD WIVES would be the last for director Fred WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK Walton and one of his better efforts. It was based on a lively script by brothers Ken THE BIRDS II: LANDS END Wheats & Jim IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE II Wheats which tried to refresh the concept by having the women of Stepford conspiring against their husbands. Donna KNOTS LANDING: BACK TO THE CUL-DE-SAC Mills and Michael TWIN PEAKS Ontkean star as the couple who just moved into the suburban paradise of Stepford. Both quickly fall under the manipulative influence of Cindy LAVERNE & SHIRLEY Williams (channelling Ruth Gordon circa ROSEMARY'S BABY) as their intrusive new neighbor. It turns out the reason the men-folk are such devoted & obedient husbands is that an insane feminist played by the occasionally over-the-top Louise EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC Fletcher has been using drugs to chemically lobotomize this misbehaving guys. You can bet co-star Sarah THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING Douglas has her manicured hand in the conspiracy. THE STEPFORD HUSBANDS isn't the most widely known or highly regarded entry in this occasional franchise but it's arguably the best. Everyone appears to be having fun with the material and I know I did watching. Followed by THE STEPFORD WIVES in 2004.

DreamWorks produced this one hundred and fifty million dollar flop from director Frank THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN Oz & screenwriter Paul THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA Rudnick. It's a reimagining of the 1975 hit and classic novel by Ira Levin which awkwardly strives to interject satire into a tale concerning of gender enslavement. Doesn't that sounds fun? Well, it could have been but Oz soft-pedals the jokes & offers a wishy-washy resolution many horror fans found especially annoying. A very likeable cast (all of whom reportedly hated Oz) featured Nicole DEAD CALM Kidman as a free-spirited woman named Joanna who relocates to the upscale community of Stepford hoping to ease the growing tension threatening her marriage to Walter; Matthew TORCH SONG TRILOGY Broderick. As things worsen between the bickering couple Joanna begins to notice the bizarre hyper-sexuality & unhealthy devotion the women of Stepford have for their mates. Along with her neighborhood side-kick Bette JINXED Midler (who also steals the most scenes & quips the funniest lines) begin their investigation which reveals the women are being chipped by their husbands & controlled by remote controls straight down to hair color and breast size. How a brain implant might accomplish those tasks is never explained to anyone's satisfaction and later a separate branch of the storyline states some inhabitants of the Connecticut town are robots which only muddies the shallow waters further. All the clues lead back to former brain surgeon Glenn THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP Close and the man she now serves hand over foot Christopher HAIRSPRAY Walken; the president of the Men's Association. This watered-down remake sank like a stone at the box office amidst a chorus of terrible reviews.

Votes: 51,515 | Gross: $2.00M

Don Cascarelli is a minor cult icon for having created the PHANTASM franchise & this strange horror/fantasy based on a short story by Joe Lansdale. A smartly-cast Bruce Campbell plays the very-much-alive Elvis Presley who faces his end of days confined to a nursing home after faking his death decades before. Campbell is always a treat and he gives good Elvis opposite EVENING SHADE actor Ozzie Davis who believes himself to be JFK. Their peaceful lives are threatened when an ancient mummy escapes from a museum transport truck near the seniors home & begins feasting on the souls of the elderly. The names Cascarelli & Campbell on the marquee guaranteed BUBBA HO-TEP a following but it's still rather niche as an entertainment because the writing has more to do with being kitschy than being scary or funny. PHANTASM IV: OBLIVION stuntman Bob Ivy played the soul-sucking monster in full cowboy drag undermining the performance and reducing the film to the level of a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE sketch at times. It's not terrible but the Phans liked this a lot more than I did.

Last Halloween I treated myself to a dozen Dollarstore horror movies and SLASH was one of them. I was a pleasantly surprised at how not terrible it was. Thank director Neals SPACE MUTINY Sundstrom who manages his mostly youthful cast well and infused the film with a much stronger ambiance than you'd expect from an extremely formulaic slasher. For a hack, Sundstrom is capable of some surprisingly competent work. He also directed the polished-looking HOWLING V : THE REBIRTH which; like SLASH suffers from a small budget and a forgettable plot (courtesy of Gus Silber & Stephen Ronald Francis who also cranked out PETS TO THE RESCUE earlier that year). The handsome Adam TO THE END'S OF THE EARTH Woolf plays the lead singer of a rock band called SLASH who are diverted to his father's farm upon hearing of a death in his family. The singer hasn't spent much time on the spooky farm since that time as a boy he caught his grandfather Jethro (Danny FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 3: THE HANGMAN'S DAUGHTER Keogh) murdering women in the barn. History seems to be repeating itself when a scythe swinging scarecrow shambles out from the cornfield and begins stalking his band mates. Veteran charactor actor Steve THE STUNTMAN Railsback's nifty performance as the young man's sinister father Jebediah was the icing on my Dollarstore dvd cake. Not too bloody and not too bad.

Kenneth DEATH ON THE NILE Branagh masterfully directed this exceptionally well written suspense-thriller, casting himself in the dual role of Roman Strauss & Mike Church. Roman was a composer who was put to death in the electric chair for the murder of his wife; Margaret. Branagh's RL wife Emma FORTUNES OF WAR Thompson played the deceased Mrs. Strauss & also an amnesiac in present day who hires a freelance detective (Church) to solve the mystery of her true identity. Her identity (when revealed) will knock your socks off! For now, lets just say the lovers who died in 1949 have been thrown together once again for a 2nd chance at happiness provided they can bring the murderer to justice with the aid of a hypnotist experienced in past life regression. Derek MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Jacobi is wonderful as the grubby antique dealer who dabbles in hypno-therapy to locate pieces for his collection. The entire cast is first rate especially the leads who crackle with chemistry. Wayne SEINFELD Knight, Andy MAMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN Garcia & Robin MORK & MINDY Williams play acquaintances of the detective who may know more than they're telling. Marvel fans will recognize writer Scott Frank for THE WOLVERINE & his Oscar nominated screenplay for LOGAN. He really knocked DEAD AGAIN out of the ballpark. The finale is exhilarating & brimming with artistry under the confident hand of director Branagh. He also wisely (and bravely) chose to tell the story of the Strauss family in beautiful B&W which I'm sure didn't thrill the studio. One of the best films of the 90s. This was the 3rd of 5 successful collaborations between producer/director William Castle & writer Robb White. They made MACABRE, 13 GHOSTS, HOMICIDAL & HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL the latter featuring Vincent Price who went on to play Dr. Chapin in TINGLER. Chapin is an unhappily married pathologist who believes centipede-like monstrosities live at the base of the human spine & feed off our fear. If THE TINGLER becomes engorged on fear it grows powerful enough to crush vertebrates. While performing an autopsy on a man who appears to have died from fright, Chapin meets the deceased man's brother-in-law; Oliver who runs a silent movie theatre with his mute wife Martha. Philip NORTH BY NORTHWEST Coolidge & Judith REAR WINDOW Evelyn are the bitterly married pair who are drawn into the horror when it's discovered the only way to prevent a Tingler from crushing your spine is to scream at the top of your lungs. Castle built his reputation within the genre aping Alfred Hitchcock while selling his tolerable B-movies with clever marketing gimmicks like the one used here; 'Percepto'. Percepto was in actuality a small electrical device hidden under a few theatre seats which delivered mild shocks to audience members who were then encouraged to scream to make it stop. Additionally, a pivotal color sequence was inserted into this B&W production which will have your spine tingling too! Campy, cultish & fun.

The other movies in the series are; SNOW DEVILS, WAR BETWEEN THE PLANETS, WILD WILD PLANET & WAR OF THE PLANETS which were all originally conceived as an Italian TV mini-series. When an asteroid is discovered to be on a collision course with Earth a hot-shot astronaut played by Robert A MAN CALLED SHENANDOAH Horton is sent to lead the mission to blow it to smithereens. His former love (Luciano MUSCLE BEACH PARTY Polozzi) is stationed on the orbital base along with her current fiance; Gamma III's commanding officer. The slime thrives off electricity, triggering rapid growth & reproduction. Soon, a tentacled army of one-eyed monsters have infested the base electrocuting anyone who stands in their way. Hooper also won for Worst Picture as a producer along with Debra THUNDERBIRDS Hayward, Eric BRIDGET JONE'S BABY Fellner & Tim TRASH Bevin. Rebel ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS Wilson for Worst Supporting Actress. James LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS Gorden won a statuette in the category of Worst Supporting Actor while ballerina Franchesca Hayward had to settle for just a nomination as Worst Actress. High Holy Hell! You mean there was somebody worse than HER?! She deserved that award 100% Judi MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Dench also wasn't good enough to win for being bad enough. She was robbed as was anyone who shelled out their hard earned money to watch this atrocity in theaters. Speaking of atrocious, Jason SPINNING GOLD Derulo received a nod for the CG shape of his kitty cat crotch. Trust me, you'll be seeing lots of flesh-creeping CG renders. Hooper (who allegedly treated the visual effects team like dirt) wasted half his production's time and budget to produce a trailer that made REPO: THE GENETIC OPERA look like CABARET by comparison. The CG was from Vancouver's MPC who also broke a lot of nerd hearts by screwing up the design for SONIC THE HEDGEHOG earlier that year. One of the reasons CATS bombed so spectacularly was the visuals were glitchy & grotesque. Patches were rushed into theaters hoping quell the anger of audiences who really did deserve better but the damage was done. MPC closed it's doors soon after. The music is uniformly awful including Jennifer Hudson's interpretation of Memory which is probably the worst ever recorded. CATS is certain to break your heart if you loved the stage musical. The story itself was never the drawing card. It mostly consists of a bunch of cats introducing themselves by way of song to determine which gets to move on to a better new afterlife. Diva Taylor Swift was hired to write a pop song for the film to no avail. Universal lost over 100 million and the odds of CATS developing into a cult classic are slim to nil cuz the gays hate it. The straights hate it too but when it comes camp, cult and kitsch gays have final say and no way in hell we're embracing this garbage.

Silvio WHITE SLAVE SHIP Amadio directed this overly melodramatic Italian sword and sandal epic based on a script by Gino FURY OF ACHILLES De Santis which played fast & loose with with historic accuracy. Our story begins with a stunningly beautiful peasant girl (Jocelyn THE SON OF HERCULES MEETS VENUS Lane) who's entire village has been murdered being guided to the kingdom of Ninive by a prophet who predicts the fall of the empire when the Gods take up arms against the decadent royal family in the form of rising floodwaters. Both the King of Ninive (Howard FLAMINGO ROAD Duff) & his impetuous brother (Luciano FIRE MONSTERS AGAINST THE SON OF HERCULES Martin) fall madly in love with Brigette Bardot lookalike and agree to spare the life of her blaspheming rescuer if she agrees to marry the future King of Babylon. Their hyperventilating love triangle & random palace intrigues take up most of this gorgeously produced peplum's run time until the climax when the prophecy is at last fulfilled. This slightly over-ripe bit of Italian cheese has a distinctly Hollywood flavor at times. Average overall but way above average for it's genre.

Director: Gordon Hessler | Stars: George Hamilton, Luciana Paluzzi, Cameron Mitchell, Thodoros Roubanis

MEDUSA was the least interesting of 5 collaborations between director Gordon Hessler and writer Christopher Wicking who made a better impression with A.I.P. B-movies CRY OF THE BANSHEE, SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN, THE OBLONG BOX & MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE. MEDUSA starred George DYNASTY Hamilton who agreed to participate mostly for the opportunity to vacation in Greece with his new bride Alana I'M A CELEBRITY...GET ME OUT OF HERE! Stewart who also appeared in a supporting role. Hamilton plays a swinging playboy who owes a ton of money to a ruthless gangster (Cameron NIGHT TRAIN TO TERROR Mitchell). The pair inspire unintentional snickers masticating the cheap scenery while former 'Bond girl' Luciana THE GREEN SLIME Palozzi is as stiff as a beautiful board as Hamilton's sister. The siblings hope to make good on their debt when they receive an inheritance however anyone associated with the last will & testament begins turning up dead! Dull as dish-water, confusing and saddled with a title apropos of nothing.

97. Gold (1974)

PG | 120 min | Adventure, Thriller

A South African gold mine foreman is unwittingly manipulated by an unscrupulous gang of financiers who want to flood the mine to raise the price of gold on the world market.

Director: Peter R. Hunt | Stars: Roger Moore, Susannah York, Ray Milland, Bradford Dillman

Votes: 2,510 | Gross: $0.96M

Hoping to capitalize on the success of star Roger Moore's James Bond debut (LIVE AND LET DIE) the year before, Helmdale insisted on loading this minor disaster movie with as many talented people behind the scenes as possible who were associated with the classic spy franchise beginning with director Peter ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE Hunt. Initially Hemdale wanted Steven Spielberg based on the tremendous response to his television film DUEL but Moore refused to work with him because of his inexperience. Hunt does solid work throughout especially during the climactic action sequences. The movie was based an the popular novel GOLD MINE by Wilber Smith and screenwriter Stanley Price and concerns a plot to manipulate the stock market by deliberately flooding a network of mine shafts in Johannesburg, South Africa. Moore plays a manager concerned for the lives of the mostly black workforce who are at risk because of their wealthy, white employers scheme. Bradford CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Dillman is the prime conspirator who's wife (Susanna SUPERMAN II York) takes up with the hero unaware her husband plans to have him killed if he interferes. The special effects work depicting the ocean waters rushing in were spectacularly staged ensuring GOLD's box office success although it's rather obscure today. Ray LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED TO ROSEMARY's BABY Milland & John THE WICKED LADY Gielgud co-starred in this well-produced, sophisticated film. Moore, Hunt, Smith & Price would re-unite for SHOUT AT THE DEVIL in 1976.

Hoping to cure his violent seizures, a man agrees to a series of experimental microcomputers inserted into his brain but inadvertently discovers that violence now triggers a pleasurable response to his brain.

Director: Mike Hodges | Stars: George Segal, Joan Hackett, Richard Dysart, Donald Moffat

Mike DAMIEN: OMEN II Hodge wrote & directed this wildly under-rated thriller which was based on the 1972 best-seller by Michael JURASSIC PARK Crichton. Crichton was initially approached to adapt his book but Warner Brothers subsequently was dissatisfied with the liberties he took & removed him from the project leaving Hodge in control. Probably that was a mistake but regardless THE TERMINAL MAN will keep you fascinated and hanging off the edge of your seat. The plot revolves around a computer whiz named Harry Benson who suffers from paranoid delusions & violent seizures. The seizures cause Benson to black out for 3 minutes a day during which he becomes frenzied and uncontrollably dangerous. The uniformly excellent George JUST SHOOT ME Segal as Benson agrees to a radical surgery where computerized electrodes are implanted into his brain to counter his epilepsy against the advise of his psychiatrist who believes the circuitry will only fuel Benson's tech-based paranoia. She (Joan HOW AWFUL ABOUT ALLEN Hackett) doesn't know the half of it! The stimulus intended to over-ride the blackouts is euphoric & powerfully addictive. To get his fix Benson's brain conditions itself to produce major seizures which result in extended periods where he's in a violent psychotic state most of the time. THE TERMINAL MAN is a relentlessly bleak but beautiful film which never connected with audiences the way it should have. The supporting cast includes a host of well known & highly respected character actors including James HILL STREET BLUES Sikking, Richard L.A. LAW Dysart and Oscar winning actress Jill STARTING OVER Clayburgh. Much closer in quality to WESTWORLD or THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN than Crichton's interesting flops RUNAWAY or LOOKER. Trust me, this one packs some punch.

99. The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985)

PG | 82 min | Comedy, Fantasy, Romance

In 1935 New Jersey, a movie character walks off the screen and into the real world.

Director: Woody Allen | Stars: Mia Farrow, Jeff Daniels, Danny Aiello, Irving Metzman

Votes: 55,313 | Gross: $10.63M

THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO is the only Woody Allen pic in my personal collection today compared to everything the man ever made back in the days of VHS. The only Woody Allen pic I've seen since 'the scandal' broke was MOONLIGHT IN PARIS and that wasn't by choice. It just happened to be playing one night on someone else's tv. The scandal which destroyed my love for his work probably isn't the same as you've heard or care to hear but I'll share it anyway. Oscar nominated song writer Dory Langan married Composer Andre Previn. Unfortunately their union came to an end when Dory discovered Andre was unfaithful & subsequently was institutionalized. When she was released from the asylum she recorded a searingly honest song called Beware of Young Girls as a kind of answer to her ordeal and the woman she knew was responsible for breaking up her family. That woman was PEYTON PLACE starlet Mia Farrow who liked to 'hobknob' with Hollywood's elite and did so more than most. Andre Pevin & Mia spent a few years as a married couple during which they adopted an orphaned child named Soon-Yi. After the split, Mia continued to raise Soon-Yi and any other abandoned waif she could get her hands on long before it became fashionable in Hollywood to do so. Mia hooked up with film-maker Woody Allen & collaborated on a dozen critically acclaimed movies the last of which was 1992's HUSBANDS & WIVES. During production, Mia discovered Woody and her adopted daughter Soon-Yi were lovers and got a taste of what it was like for Dory Langan. Beware of young girls indeed. The apple didn't fall far from her adoptive tree. Adding fuel to the fire the bitter Mia embarked on a vicious custody battle with Woody over their adopted children (Dylan & Moses) & the couples biological child Ronan Farrow (who looked more like Frank Sinatra or the milkman if you want my personal opinion). Mia accused Woody of sexually molesting his adopted daughter Dylan as leverage during the hearings although he denied the allegations & easily beat the rap. Allen liked 'em young but he kept it to the legal age of consent. Also Mia continued to work with Allen on their final movie together even after she discovered Soon-Yi & her ex were lovers which is a fact I consider hard to digest considering the magnitude of her accusations. Woody & Mia were never married and whatever bad habits Soon-Yi had were gotten under Mia's watch not Allen who resided in New York's Central Park West. Soon-Yi was no child when she chose to betray her mother's trust. She was a grade A college student at the time and knew exactly what she was doing. As did Allen. The pair have been happily married for decades which I'm sure eats Mia's heart out every minute of the day while she dodges questions of menage e trois she may have had with underage girls during that period when she clearly liked to swing. That's a stark contrast watching her bang MeToo tambourines today. My own parents divorce was uglier than their marriage so I have a certain understanding of the dynamics at play; especially her son Ronan's conversion into a fake news metoo puppet. My empathy lies with Mia who I truly adore as an actress. Her hatred is proportionate to the love she felt for them. But there was never anything criminal about Woody's relationship with the young woman & I would defend him against false accusations of sexual abuse to my dying breath but he's also no longer a voice I'd allow in my home. The man is a pig. You want a child diddler? Go after Don Johnson who (while in his 20's) was banging 15 year old Melanie Griffith after school with her mother Tippi Hedren's blessing. Maybe folks would if Johnson was Jewish. Who's to say? THE PURPLE ROSE OF CAIRO is about the heart breaking illusion of what's up there on the silver screen. I recommend it unconditionally. ESSENTIAL viewing and a surreal masterpiece but not something I'll ever look at again. Betcha can't wait to read my THE COSBY SHOW thumbnail review lol. It's a-comin'!
