It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas for Prince George. Just days before the latest photo set of the young royal was released, an expectant Princess Kate donned a baseball cap to take him to a local Christmas fair on Friday. (Well, that's one way to celebrate her homecoming after a whirlwind trip to the U.S.) George, who turns 17 months on Dec. 22, looked festive in an all-white outfit for the seasonal outing at London's Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. His early Christmas gift? Kate treated George to a spin on a traditional teacup amusement ride. "George was smiling...

Am I the only one who finds most Christmas movies hypocritical? They spend tens of millions on lavish productions, recreating Santa's workshop or some such, all to tell us that Christmas is not about material things but about simple pleasures. It's enough to make you long for the homespun, slightly threadbare charms of a classic Christmas movie, like "Meet Me in St. Louis," released 70 years ago this week (on November 22, 1944).
People remember the film for its radiant Judy Garland performance and its classic songs, but it's also worth noting that the family portrayed here is not always prosperous and happy. Its signature scene is angry little Margaret O'Brien whacking the snowmen to pieces, and its signature musical number is the saddest and most wistful of all Christmas standards, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," a song that yearns for happier times, "if the fates allow." Sometimes, as the song observes,...

Time to get started with the real "Bachelor" episodes, fans. Two one-on-one dates and a group date. The pre-show ad promises, "Hot clubs, hot rubs and one. hot. mess." Just the way we like it. Get your favorite wine ready and here we go.
Clare's Date
Molly (the dog) takes a dip in the pool, as Clare gets ready for her date. She says this could be the first date with her future husband and while that is technically true, let's not get ahead of ourselves, chicky.
Juan Pablo drives up, blindfolds Clare and whisks her off in his car, which is a lot cuter and less creepy than it sounds. The show keeps up the charade that the "Bachelor" is the one who actually plans these dates, as Jp talks about putting together the winter wonderland where the date is taking place -- in the middle of Los Angeles in approximately September,...

It's hard to remember now, but there was a time before Elf was everywhere – on frequent cable rotation, Broadway, and everyone's DVD shelf of classic Christmas movies. There was a time when Will Ferrell was not a surefire comedy movie star, and when Jon Favreau was the guy from Swingers who had directed some little indie films. But they set out to make a modern holiday classic, one that would rub shoulders with such perennial favorites as Miracle on 34th Street and TV's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – and they succeeded.

Channel 4 have cancelled their annual showing of Elf, so Stuart Heritage is organising a mass DVD watch-along instead. Press play on Sunday 8 December at 3pm
"Son of a nutcracker" – Buddy
This Elfalong thing has got a bit out of hand. When I first noticed that Elf was absent from the Channel 4 schedules this year, I was slightly put out. Elf is only a decade old, but Channel 4's Elf Day has already become an institution. For many people, it signals the true start of Christmas.
But while I was slightly put out, everyone else seemed to be genuinely outraged. Elf was their film, and Christmas wasn't going to be Christmas unless there was some sort of communal watch-along. The additional fact that those arch enemies of free fun, Sky Movies, had bought the TV rights – and had completely missed the point by airing it every 20 minutes since...

The Halloween decor is down, the Thanksgiving turkeys are ordered and Santa's workshop is already fully built at the local mall, which can only mean one thing: it's almost Awards Season! As far as we at Fashion Police are concerned, this is the most wonderful time of the year. There's a new red carpet every day, meaning award-contenders and A-listers of every kind have to give every look everything they've got. It's no easy task, and success one year does not translate to a Best Dressed list nod the next. Can you believe Will Ferrell turns 46 today? Our favorite funnyman has kept us laughing throughout the years with movies classics like "Anchorman," "Elf" and "Step Brothers." The comedian got his start in the ‘90s on "Saturday Night Live" and seriously brought the laughs in skits like the Roxbury Brothers, the Spartan Cheerleaders and with his George W. Bush impersonations. While Ferrell parted ways with "SNL" in 2002, he's continued to make people laugh on the silver screen. We can't wait to see Will reprise his role as Ron Burgundy in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues"! To celebrate one of Hollywood's most hilarious leading men, check out Will's funniest quotes below! You're welcome. Will Ferrell's Funniest Quotes:1. "Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which, of course, in German means a whale's vagina." -- "Anchorman"2. Ty Burrell is going to star in the new Muppet movie as an Interpol agent, which makes sense as Ty is pretty much half Muppet to begin with.
Is gay culture dead?
In perhaps the creepiest news I've heard in a while, Verizon has applied for a patent on a DVR that watches you while you watch TV. It will know if you're eating, cuddling, screaming at the television, and serve up advertising based on that. Does this mean I have to have an electronics-free room, for you know, "me time?" I don't need to suddenly see eHarmony ads popping up.
With G4 going the way of the dinosaur, NBC Universal is in talks with Esquire to brand the channel as an upscale men's network. The good news is that John Barrowman would still be a fit as a guest host on just about anything.

For all that it is, I enjoyed Rise of the Guardians as a film that offers a twist to the iconic holiday and mythological characters adults tell their children about, and does so in a way that doesn't taint what attracts us to these characters in the first place. This isn't to say you should expect anything too far outside the norm from a storytelling perspective, but the fact it's based on the book by William Joyce, whose magical animated short film The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore won the Oscar last year, should give some allusion to the imagination that inspired it into being. Adapted by David Lindsay-Abaire, whose genre reach spreads from Inkheart to Rabbit Hole as well as a hand in scripting an upcoming Poltergeist remake, Rise of the Guardians begins by introducing us to the titular Guardians -- Santa Claus (voiced by Alec Baldwin...

Cheryl Ladd is living proof that one of Charlie's Angels also can be Mrs. Santa Claus.
Soon after the classic female-detective show's "Complete Series" DVD release, the actress plays Father Christmas' spouse as Disney's direct-to-video offering "Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups" debuts Tuesday (Nov. 20). The title dogs talk, thanks to a voice cast that includes Richard Kind ("Argo") and Tom Everett Scott ("That Thing You Do!"), but it's hard to steal a movie totally from a Ladd clad as Mrs. Claus.

I knew mine wouldn't be the first name that came to mind for Mrs. Santa Claus, but they liked the idea of reinventing her and having her with more energy.

‘Tis the season… for costly 3D animated blockbusters! The newest animated confection to roll out of the major studio pipeline, just a few short weeks after the sweetly charming retro-romp “Wreck-It Ralph,” is “Rise of the Guardians,” the last film from DreamWorks Animation to be distributed by Paramount Pictures (next year, Fox will take over those duties). “Rise of the Guardians” collects various characters from mythology and folklore and puts them together into an “Avengers”-style super-team (Alec Baldwin is Santa Claus, Chris Pine is Jack Frost, Hugh Jackman is the Easter Bunny and Isla Fisher is the Tooth Fairy), to ward off the evil boogeyman Pitch (Jude Law). Is “Rise of the Guardians” the stuff of legend, or merely something that will (ever-so-briefly) get you away from your more annoying family members this holiday season? Let's find out. Stephen Colbert is nothing if not a patriot, and on Tuesday's episode of "The Colbert Report," he exercised one of his basic American rights: screwing with Wikipedia.
When some pundits noticed that Wikipedia updates might be the key to noting who could end up as Mitt Romney's running mate, Colbert took that as an open invitation to push for his close personal friend, Tim Pawlenty.
"T-Paw was born in St. Paul Minnesota... let's edit that to 'The Minnesota town of St. Paul is where born Tim Pawlenty was.' He was the son of Eugene Joseph Pawlenty, and let's say... Mrs. Butterworth. Intending to become a dentist, Pawlenty started his career in... Santa's Workshop."

While we're not completely sure what the "Santa Claus" music video will end up looking like, it does seem to take place in a bit of a steampunk-inspired Santa's workshop, complete with old-timey clothes (with futuristic detailing, Obvs), elves and Bieber's new spiky hair. It also seems to include a lady mannequin-type figure also wearing...

Here's a new trailer for the claymation flick Arthur Christmas, the first in the three-year development deal struck by Wallace & Gromit producers Aardman Animations. The holiday movie comes out in late November and features the voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton. It's a whimsical behind-the-scenes look at Santa's workshop and how Saint Nick manages to hit all those houses. (With presents. Not, like, to rob them.)
Here's the first trailer

During the winter holidays, the Barney's store windows on Madison Avenue are a popular attraction for tourists and New Yorkers alike. Yes -- people stand in line in an NYC winter just to peer into windows.
This year, those windows will have a little extra bad romance. Lady Gaga is taking over Santa's Workshop at Barney's. Not only will she and her team at Haus of Gaga be in charge of the window dressings, but they'll also take over a whole floor of the famed upscale store and make it over in true Gaga fashion.
Gaga will create her version of Santa's Workshop -- and we're both intrigued and terrified to learn just how the Lady interprets the North Pole. She'll even appear on the Barney's bags this season, so shoppers, you'll want to hang onto those -- we're sure some Little Monsters who can't make it to NYC for...

This holiday season, New York City's famed store Barney's and all its shoppers will be having a very Gaga Christmas.
Mark Lee, Barney's CEO, announced on Monday (Aug. 15) that singer Lady Gaga and her creative team (namely, artists Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson and Gaga's stylist Nicola Formichetti) will have free reign to build their version of "Santa's Workshop" at the store. An entire floor (the one that happens to house the men's department) will be given over to their vision, along with Barney's famous window displays.
In addition, a cartoon of Gaga with long blue hair and long yellow nails wearing a red jumpsuit will be featured on Barney's holiday shopping bags and a line of Gaga's Workshop gift items will be produced, with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity of her choice.
Wonder what Simon Doonan thinks about this. Or, for that matter, David Sedaris.

How powerful is TV's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, 46 years after its first airing? A week ago Tuesday, CBS' annual telecast clobbered the equally classic animated treasure How the Grinch Stole Christmas on ABC when they went head to head. Since then, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart put his voice over the Burl Ives snowman/narrator as part of a hilarious holiday-animation takedown of Fox News Channel's yearly "War on Christmas" hysteria. ("The season wouldn't feel the same without people going out of their way to be offended by nothing.") Glee kicked off its frenetically sentimental Christmas episode this week with a rendition of "The Island of Misfit Toys" (how appropriate). And now the entire cast of NBC's Community looks like they stepped off of Hermie's assembly line in Santa's workshop.

We haven't even gotten through Christmas 2010 yet, but if you're going to start an advance marketing campaign for a 2011 holiday movie you may as well start now, before everyone starts recoiling at the sight of Santa and his eight tiny reindeer. Thus we have the teaser trailer for Arthur Christmas, a new offering from the British Aardman Studios featuring the voice work of James McAvoy as Santa's bumbling, overenthusiastic son Arthur. The teaser starts with a pitch-perfect Morgan Freeman impersonator doing a March of the Penguins-style voiceover that accidentally reveals a frantic elf who wants to hide the existence of Santa's workshop, and the excitable Arthur who's ready to spill all the beans. I may just be imagining things but it sounds like McAvoy-- always gifted with accents-- is voicing both characters. Take a look at it below, and bear in mind that Aardman is the studio that has...

It's just like Santa's workshop! Except it smells like Casting Tidbits and everyone looks like they wanna hurt me. First up, THR reports Joel Edgerton (The Thing remake) and the lovely Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) will star in an Australian psychological drama called Say Nothing. Actor Kieran Darcy Smith will make his feature directorial debut with this story of four friends who lose themselves in the fun of a carefree Southeast Asian holiday. However, a mystery unfolds after a fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia and one disappears. Darcy also wrote the film himself. Second, after we heard Emily Blunt may co-star with Jason Segel again in Five-Year Engagement, it looks like they may co-star for the second time even sooner. Heat Vision reports Blunt has joined the growing list of celebrity cameos in The Muppets. In addition, Ricky Gervais has ...

As Toy Story 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray, we look at other films in which toys walk and talk under their own power, and they've been doing it for quite a while too!
The Toy Story triumvirate will reign supreme among stories of toys coming to life and it's hard to imagine any single film or series that uses the premise of living playthings ever besting the perfect trio of movies.
But having given the hat trick fair praise, the toys in Andy's room weren't the first to walk and talk under their own control, and other stories feature toys springing to life when their owners aren't around or by the power of dreams and wishes, the magic of midnight or, in one case, the might of military grade munitions chips.
So, if you still have room for more childhood toy fantasies and adventures beyond Woody, Buzz and their crew,...

First-time director Tom Ford has surprised the critics by making one of the year's best films. Can he take all the credit – or is great cinema always a team effort?
Tom Ford wanted to be a director so much, he bought a movie. He obtained the rights to a Christopher Isherwood novel, lifted the cast from his contacts book and the budget from his bank balance. Ford made his millions in the rag trade; first as the creative director of Gucci and then as the creator of the Tom Ford fashion label. He freely admits that, until recently, he had no film-making experience whatsoever.
It would be nice, then, to dismiss A Single Man as a bungled vanity project, a hubristic folly from a man with more dollars than sense. Annoyingly, the shoe won't fit. A Single Man boasts a deft, Oscar-nominated performance from Colin Firth as a bereaved...

Oh. My. God!!!!!!!
Screw an intro. Onto the recap!
The Set Up
We are introduced to Jeff (guest star Dan Castellaneta) and Daphne Bicks, who are clearly unhappy with each other. Jeff is tired of Daphne bitching about everything in sight (and I am as well after the first 30 seconds). Jeff owns a charter plane company and he brings Daphne on the ride for the day. But she will not stop nagging. So Jeff asks for a divorce and even pulls out a card of a divorce lawyer to prove that he is being serious. Daphne then threatens to take half of the business, which was bought with half of Daphne's father's money. Jeff can't take it anymore and has a heart attack. In mid air. Over Wisteria Lane. In the middle of the annual Christmas festival.
