Just as there have been many spooky villains in Hammer movies over the years, there have also been many protagonists who protect our world from unholy horrors. Having appeared in several British serials and three movies, Professor Bernard Quatermass is one such hero, and Legendary and Hammer are teaming up with David Farr for a new movie featuring the classic character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Farr, has "been tapped" to pen Quatermass, a new film for Legendary and Hammer. Produced by Simon Oakes of Hammer Films, the movie is viewed as a remake and will be supervised by Jon Silk and Jay Ashenfelter for Legendary.
Plot details are unknown at this time, but previous Quatermass serials and movies from the 1950s and ’60s often pitted Quatermass against extraterrestrial beings that threaten Earth, so perhaps we could see visitors from the stars paying the scientist a visit in the new film.

Let the Right One In started out as a vampire novel written by John Ajvide Lindqvist. This was a very different, unique, brilliant take on vampire lore, and the story has already been adapted twice as films. The first one was a wonderful Swedish film that came out in 2008, and the other was an Americanized take on the story called Let Me In, which was released in 2010.
About a year ago it was reported that A&E was developing the story into a TV series, but there hasn't been much news on the project since it was announced. Today we learned that TNT is in the process of developing a pilot for a potential series.

Just a quick update, here. Back in August, we heard that TNT is developing a TV show based on Let The Right One In, John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel that has already spawned two films and a theatre show.
Today, we've got some casting information for the series. Deadline reports that Kristine Froseth (a relative unknown, pictured above) has been cast as the female lead, Eli. Here's Deadline's character bio, which sticks close to the source material...
"Thin and pale, Eli’s actual age is unknown. Lonely and friendless (for obvious reasons), Eli lands in an apartment building in Vermont, and soon begins a strange friendship with Henry, an equally lonely 16-year-old boy who has no idea what kind of creature he’s dealing with.

First it was a novel, then an acclaimed Swedish movie, then a surprisingly classy English-language remake, and then two separate stage productions. Now John Ajvide Lindqvist's Let The Right One In is heading for yet another adaptation, this time as a TV series for the American cable network A&E. Brandon Boyce (Apt Pupil, Wicker Park) will write the new take, with Jeff Davis (MTV's Teen Wolf) acting as showrunner. Both, along with Tomorrow Studios' Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, will serve as executive producers. So too will Hammer CEO Simon Oakes: Hammer retains the rights as the studio that brought us the Let Me In version in 2010.The story, in all forms so far, gives us a young boy called Oskar (Owen in the Hammer film) who befriends a local girl called Eli (or Abby). Eli lives in mysterious circumstances with her seemingly much older 'guardian',...

Swedish horror Let The Right One In has already been subjected to the Hollywood treatment, but that’s not going to stop its exsanguination in favor of another remake. For this latest iteration, currently in development at A&E, the network has tapped Teen Wolf showrunner Jeff Davis and writer Brandon Boyce to revamp the movie a second time.
A&E snagged the rights from Hammer Films Productions – who produced the original movie based on John Ajvide Lindqvist’s best-selling novel – in a bidding frenzy. The network nearly lost out to Showtime, whose slate already boasts the genre-tastic Penny Dreadful. All’s fair in love and (bidding) war.
Like all other previous versions of the property, the series will revolve about a bullied teen boy who befriends a young girl – who turns out to be a century-old vampire unable to restrain her bloodlust.

Norman Bates and the resurrected people of The Returned could be getting more company in the growing horror community on A&E, as the network is developing a TV series adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's world-renowned Sweden-set vampire novel, Let the Right One In.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that A&E is collaborating with Jeff Davis (Teen Wolf showrunner) and Brandon Boyce (who wrote the screenplay adaptation of Stephen King's Apt Pupil and also played Dr. Vandenburg in Teen Wolf) on the adaptation of the 2004 novel, Let the Right One In, aka Låt den rätte komma in, with both Davis and Boyce set to scribe the script.
A&E and Showtime were both looking to adapt the vampiric coming-of-age story, with the former outbidding the latter in the end and gaining the optioned story from Hammer Films Productions.
A&E is currently developing the series in-house along with Tomorrow Studios.

A&E is teaming with "Teen Wolf" show runner Jeff Davis and actor-screenwriter Brandon Boyce for yet another adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's Swedish vampire story "Let the Right One In".
The story, about a bullied teen boy who befriends a young female vampire who lives in secrecy with her mysterious guardian, was adapted into Tomas Alfredson's critically acclaimed 2008 movie of the same name. Matt Reeves did a less well received but still praised English-language remake in 2010 entitled "Let Me In".
This new take though will be a drama series version of the story. The action will be shifted to a small Vermont town where a series of strange murders attracts the attention of a federal marshal with a mysterious past of his own.
A+E Studios and Tomorrow Studios will produce the project with Davis, Boyce, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements and Simon Oakes to serve as executive producers.

Exclusive: In a development that bodes well for the coming avalanche of acquisition titles that starts tomorrow at the Toronto Film Festival, Relativity has closed a seven-figure deal for U.S. distribution rights to The Woman In Black 2. That is the sequel to the hit 2012 haunted house film that starred Daniel Radcliffe and was distributed in the U.S. by CBS Films. The sequel rights were controlled by Hammer and eOne, and the deal was brokered by CAA. The original grossed $54 million domestically and $128 million worldwide.
While buyers tell me they don’t see an obvious gotta-have-it title at Toronto like last year’s Can A Song Save Your Life, there is certainly an appetite for films that has been evident in festivals this year from Sundance to Berlin and Cannes. The Woman In Black 2 deal closed today, hours before Warner Bros opens the festival with the Robert Downey Jr-starrer The Judge.

It's hard to believe it was way back in April 2012 when we first got word that Hammer would be filming a new movie onsite in the Winchester Mystery House, but the project is now back on track with a new writing/directing team we're all quite familiar with.

Filmmaking brothers Michael and Peter Spierig have been tapped to rewrite and direct Hammer Films’ Winchester, a supernatural thriller based on the world famous Winchester Mystery House in San Jose.
The filmmakers are rewriting a script originally penned by Tom Vaughan that tells the story of Sarah Winchester, heir to the Winchester firearms fortune. Hammer is eyeing an early 2015 start date.
After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, Sarah Winchester came to believe she was cursed by the rifle's victims and the lethal legacy of the "gun that won the West." At the instruction of a spiritualist medium,...

Ben Roberts, director of BFI Lottery Film Fund, asked speakers at Monday’s ‘The Magic £10m: the key to producing a £10m-plus feature film’ panel at the UK Film Centre – what kind of package must be put together for a £10m film in order to secure financing and ensure a healthy box office return?
After a culmination of answers from the board, a bottom line was agreed – it’s a tougher market than it was five years ago, and that a strong package specifically pertaining to the attachment of a well-known director, a solid script and a competitive budget was essential.
Financier Claudia Blumhuber, managing partner at Silver Reel, reiterated: “It’s definitely a difficult market for film. TV is now booming - cast are happy to be in TV whereas five years ago that was not necessarily the case.

Cannes: Now that former president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton has announced his new company Bloom, Us operations at Exclusive Media are expected to wind down quickly.
What will remain of Dasym-owned Exclusive Media and continue as going concerns are the 800+ library and UK-based genre label Hammer run by Simon Oakes.
The popular Walton has transitioned his international team with him to the new venture, backed by producer-financier and Waypoint Entertainment founder Ken Kao.
The extraction of the sales team, allied to the fact that Bloom will continue to sell and service outstanding titles on the Exclusive Media slate, foreshadows the demise of the production division under president of worldwide production and acquisitions Tobin Armbrust.
The short-lived Exclusive Releasing’s days are numbered once the Us distribution operation has met all its obligations. Release titles included Adore (pictured) and Parkland.
Da Vinci Media Ventures, backed by UK entrepreneur Toby Moores and spearheaded by Wendy Rutland, will...

The film draws inspiration from the Philip Experiment of 1972, in which Canadian academic researchers tried to prove that telekinesis, poltergeists, and the like manifest solely through the human mind.
A quick trip to YouTube yielded some fruits for us paranormal-loving souls. The video you see below contains actual footage from the aforementioned experiment, and honestly? It's pretty damned interesting. Check it out, and tell us what you make of it!
