The recent trend of TV musical events has been squeaky clean so far — The Sound of Music, Grease Live! — but now Fox is getting filthy with a remake of the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s lewd, crude, and still shocking forty years later, and Fox’s new version (airing Thursday, 8/7c) is a vibrant adaptation that faithfully captures the spirit of the original. But… there’s also a fatal flaw here that threatens to spoil the whole party.

The cast also included Joan Bennett, Louis Edmonds, Nancy Barrett, Thayer David, and John Karlen.Read More…...

Disney hasn’t released a stop-motion feature since 2012’s Frankenweenie, but that doesn’t mean meticulously hand-crafted animation is without a home at the House of Mouse. The studio recently released fan-created stop-motion videos with Rogue One toys to promote the new Star Wars movie. And now it’s is unveiling a line-up of four stop-motion animated spots on network Disney Xd. The spots (along with two more that’ll be released later this month) are the work of Disney Xd teaming up with Walt Disney Imagineering and Stoopid Buddy Studios, the animation company that makes Robot Chicken. Speaking to Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi is an awful lot like watching "Ash vs. Evil Dead." Campbell, who plays the one-handed titular hero, is a burst of energy with lots to say and no filter (or a desire for one). Meanwhile, Raimi supports his lead actor with a handful of smart comments at all the right moments, establishing solid ground from which Campbell can leap. And leap he does, both below in Indiewire's conversation with the pair, and in the show (now airing Saturday nights on Starz). Campbell and Raimi touch on everything from the importance of Starz's commitment to the series to what's so important about having real heroes to watch on TV. Below is our lightly edited discussion. I love horror anthology films and like many of you out there, Creepshow is the one I judge all others against. Released in 1982, George A. Romero and Stephen King's tribute to EC Comics is filled with talented actors, but Adrienne Barbeau really steals the show as Billie, a character that couldn't be more different from who Adrienne really is. As a Halloween treat for our readers, I caught up with her to talk about her role in "The Crate," convention appearances, her work as an author, and more.
How did you first hear about Creepshow and what were your impressions of Stephen King's screenplay?
My agents sent me the script along with an offer to play "just call me Billie - everyone does". I read it and thought, oh no, this is way too bloody for me. At that time, I think the only horror film I'd ever...

Five Nights At Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon has debuted the first teaser trailer for his upcoming spinoff of the massively popular (especially on YouTube) series of low-fi horror titles: Five Nights At Freddy’s World. After watching it, we can’t help but feel that we’re being trolled. The trailer starts by reminding us of the horror we’ve faced at the hands of Freddy and his armada of animatronic nightmares before revealing to us…..that they’re cute?
From there, we’re treated to top down gameplay and what seems to be heavily Final Fantasy inspired turn based combat featuring Freddy and friends facing off against evil robots and cyborg shellfish. The game then goes on to tell us that it’s starring basically every monstrosity from the Five Nights At Freddy’s canon.
The graphics are reminiscent of the stellar Snes title Super Mario RPG, and...

If you’ve craved more All Hallows’ Eve adventures since the end credits rolled in Michael Dougherty's 2007 holiday horror anthology, then you're in for a big Halloween treat from Legendary Comics via their new graphic novel, Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead.
Set around October 31st throughout the centuries, Days of the Dead features four macabre tales in which the tricks can be treacherous, but the treats are sweeter than any king-sized candy bar. The stories are collectively penned by Dougherty, Todd Casey, Zach Shields, and Marc Andreyko, and they leave a mark almost as indelible as the tales told onscreen in the Trick 'r Treat film—offering a good number of initial scares and leaving plenty of frightful food for thought to dig into after the last page is turned.

Here’s an early and not very surprising Halloween treat for Walking Dead fans: AMC has renewed the incredibly popular zombie drama for a seventh season. Additionally, the cable network has also ordered another season of the Walking Dead after show, Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick. “Thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals. When, on the third shake, ‘without a doubt’ filled the murky blue screen, we knew we had to proceed with new seasons of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “All joking aside, we are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. To celebrate the October 16th release of the horror anthology Tales of Halloween, Daily Dead spoke to the filmmakers behind the movie to discuss the project, their individual contributions and more.
Writer/director Dave Parker has been part of the horror scene for many years, coming up through Charles Band’s Full Moon Features (where he directed his first feature, The Dead Hate the Living!) before going on to direct the excellent The Hills Run Red and ColdWater. His short “Sweet Tooth” kicks off Tales of Halloween in terrific fashion with real Halloween atmosphere, gore, and wickedly dark humor. Parker talks about the origins of his cautionary tale, the casting of some beloved genre stars and the pressures of going first.
So you know you’re going to be making this anthology with your filmmaking friends and you know you have free reign to do whatever you want. Where do...

It’s been a while since we’ve been treated to a memorable family-friendly horror film, but fear not, because R.L. Stine has found a new way to please fans – by unleashing his demons on the big screen. Goosebumps is essentially The Cabin In The Woods for kiddies, because it attacks the genre with the same sense of relentless fun, just with a more appropriate brand.
Instead of an Angry Molesting Tree cameo, we get a subtle Nightmare On Elm Street reference squeezed into a werewolf chase, but it’s still just as self-referential, and just as cheekily fun. Trade bloody kills for light-hearted, ghoulish guffaws, and you’ve got an immensely fun introduction to horror that’s tame enough for the youngest tikes in your clan, yet funny enough for all ages.
Dylan Minnette plays Zach, the newest inhabitant of a sleepy Delaware town that’s about to get a lot more exciting.
Instead of an Angry Molesting Tree cameo, we get a subtle Nightmare On Elm Street reference squeezed into a werewolf chase, but it’s still just as self-referential, and just as cheekily fun. It’s been three years since the original Hotel Transylvania released back in 2012, with a Dracula-in-the-hospitality-industry monster mash-up that made some fervent little fans out of the army of monstrosities on screen and, more importantly to Sony, resulted in a higher-than-expected box office gross. Which is why we’re here now, with Hotel Transylvania 2 picking up a few years after the events of the first movie and throwing the expected cadre of things that go bump in the night into a new paradigm: parenthood.
Just like its predecessor, the new movie is sweet and broadly humorous, but that’s also sort of the problem. It’s so preoccupied with a simplistic – if nonetheless laudatory – message of tolerance and acceptance, and its jokes are so slapsticky, that it constantly bars itself from being anything other than an Adam Sandler-and-gang movie that’s actually watchable. Which is a feat unto itself,...

It doesn't matter if you're dressed up as your favorite muggle, witch, or wizard - you're all getting a big Halloween treat in the form of six (!) new stories by original "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling that are appearing exclusively on her sprawling Pottermore website. Yes, this is very exciting indeed.
These stories aren't exactly the most illustrative things (we were secretly hoping for a new adventure about Ron and Hermione's visit to the nearest muggle water park, but, alas, our prayers still went unanswered). Still: if you want to know some detailed backstories about various magical beings, Ministers of Magic, and the like, then please, start feasting. There's a lot to go around here; it could very well take you until trick-or-treating time to get through.
