Denzel Washington undoubtedly is one of the best actors of his generation. His films are often either critically lauded, financially successful, or often both. He moves adroitly between intense personal dramas, Shakespeare, sci-fi blockbusters, and even the occasional horror film. Even if his films do occasionally bomb or garner bad reviews, Washington himself is never the uncommitted party. He has been nominated for ten Academy Awards, and has won two. He was once one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood.

The 2021 Newport Folk Festival (technically titled “Folk On”) is, for obvious reasons, much different than past installments: Coming off a year of mass tragedy and societal reckoning, this year’s event, ongoing through July 28th, features double the amount of days — six instead of three — reduced capacity, and fewer stages. The first three days were the folkiest in recent memory: more acoustic, more intimate, and more traditionally minded than usual. Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley delivered their timeless Drive-By Trucker tunes as an acoustic duo, Katie Crutchfield performed highlights from her 2020 opus,...

Jimmy Kimmel made an emotional return to his show on Monday, after taking a week off to spend time with his family following his son Billy's second heart surgery. The late-night host brought out his 7-month-old son during his opening monologue and fought back tears as he gave the audience a health update. Jimmy then went on to thank the "talented doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital" and explained how a program called Chip (Children's Health Insurance Program) is at risk of being defunded. Jimmy Kimmel has found a cause beyond comedy.
"I never imagined I would get involved in something like this, this is not my area of expertise."
Despite the 49-year-old comedian’s concession during the first of three monologues this week calling out Senator Bill Cassidy for what Kimmel believes are broken promises of the Cassidy-coined “Jimmy Kimmel Test” in the proposed Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host has become an unlikely leading voice in the fight to save the Affordable Care Act.
While Cassidy himself and proponents of the bill argue that Kimmel misrepresents what it actually does, many healthcare analysts have come to the comedian’s defense, stating that he paints a more accurate picture of what the bill could do.

Every actor has to start their career somewhere, and most of the time the first film project for them isn't the best. ScreenRant has released a video that lists ten famous actors who got their starts with embarrassing movie roles. Some of the actors include Ben Affleck in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Denzel Washington in Heart Condition, Emilia Clarke in Triassic Attack, Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, and more. It's pretty funny to see where these big stars got their start.
Are you proud of your first job? If the answer is “no” then congratulations! You’re normal! While most of us have the luxury of being embarrassed in private, an actor’s resume is very public knowledge. And while some people get their big break right away, most of us start at the bottom. Here are 10 Famous Actors With Embarrassing Early Movie Roles.

Denzel Washington will be awarded the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this Sunday's Golden Globes, and as a result, we thought we'd look back at the ten films that I think best showcase his undeniable movie star charisma. Are these the ten best Denzel Washington films? The ten best Denzel Washington performances? It feels to us like it's hard to make a distinction between the two, since his best work occurs when people actually challenge him or give him something great to do. There are some very solid films and performances that didn't make this list, like Courage Under Fire, Crimson Tide, 2 Guns, and Philadelphia, but we feel like we picked the ten movies that best exemplify why Washington has been electrifying audiences for 30 years now. Washington paid his dues in the early days, and I'm sure he'd be perfectly happy to just forget Carbon Copy or Heart Condition ever happened.

Denzel Washington, believe it or not, is a really funny guy. You might not know it due to the fact that he's more known for dispensing rough justice in films like Man On Fire and more recently The Equalizer. But before he was giving criminals a stern talking to, followed by a couple of bullets or blows to the chest, he was making people laugh in movies like Heart Condition and Much Ado About Nothing. Yet despite his mid career renaissance as an action hero with gravitas, he's still eager to make us laugh, and he's ready to do it again. The only problem is Will Smith is dragging his feet on making sure that happens. At least, that's what Washington himself said in his Reddit Ama yesterday afternoon. You see, he too remembers that Adam McKay's remake of Uptown Saturday Night is still in play, and he's eager...

For many a young rising star, there comes the time to prove their worth at the ever-enigmatic box office all on their own. Any young gun can co-star in a successful feature with a proven star by his or her side (see potential stars Chris Pine and Ryan Reynolds ride Denzel’s coattails in Unstoppable and Safe House, respectively). To prove your name is valuable above a film’s title, you must lead it, meaning you are both the film’s star and the film’s marketing campaign. At some point (usually early on), these ambitious pseudo-celebs must go for it, headlining a somewhat small, but significant, studio picture in the hopes of finding an audience they’ve been told by their agents and managers they have already built.

ChaCha put together a list of actors who have died the most in their movies. Topping the list is Robert De Niro with fifteen deaths, including ones in "Cape Fear," "Frankenstein" and "Jackie Brown." Bruce Willis also made the list and was actually killed twice by his ex-wife Demi Moore in "Mortal Thoughts" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." Brad Pitt is in top ten as well, but his deaths are a bit odd. He died in "Cool World," but returned as an animated character. He died in "Fight Club," but never actually existed. And he died in "Meet Joe Black," but came back as Death. The list is far from perfect, since it doesn't include Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed, Titanic, Blood Diamond), Kevin Spacey (Se7en, American Beauty, La Confidential), Samuel L. According to Crimespree Cinema, Jason Statham has signed on as Detective Sergeant Tom Brant, for the film of Ken Bruen's hard-boiled London crime novel The Blitz. In book form, The Blitz is the third Brant novel (franchise!) by the Irish author, and involves a serial killer working his way through Britain's police departments. The screenplay is by Moon's Nathan Parker, and the director is Elliott Lester (little-seen love-triangle thriller Love is the Drug), with shooting scheduled to start next month.Statham's character is an oldschool un-pc copper, in trouble for assaulting a police psychiatrist, and deeply homophobic, which causes problems when he's partnered with Paddy Considine's openly gay Sergeant Porter Nash. Now on the surface, that immediately calls to mind the woeful 1990 Heart Condition, where Bob Hoskins played a racist cop in an uneasy partnership with Denzel Washington. Hopefully though, that similarity will remain superficial, although its...

Miley Cyrus suffers from a heart condition. The 16-year-old singer has tachycardia - meaning her heart rate exceeds the range of a normal resting rate - and admits she worries about the complaint when she performs live.
She says in her new autobiography 'Miles to Go': "The type of tachycardia I have isn't dangerous. It won't hurt me, but it does bother me. There is never a time onstage when I'm not thinking about my heart."
Health problems aren't the only subject Miley has spoken about in her tell-all tome. An entire chapter is dedicated to 'Prince Charming', the nickname she uses to refer to her first love.
However, Miley is keen to play down reports she is talking about ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas, a member of The Jonas Brothers.

Denzel Washington is dying to put a smile on his fans' faces with a comic role. The lauded actor is sick of being cast in dramatic roles, and has been talking to wise-cracking star Eddie Murphy about the possibility of a big screen collaboration. But Denzel is aware that a role in a comedy could pose a real challenge. He admits, "I've got to be careful, because comedies aren't easy. I'd like to back door my way in there like Robert De Niro, where he plays himself and somebody else is the real comedian." Denzel's first feature film role was actually a comedy - Carbon Copy, alongside George Segal - but he soon moved into drama and found success there. His other comedies include 1990's Heart Condition and 1996's The Preacher's Wife. All three comedies score a 5 or lower on a 1 to 10 scale, based on votes by IMDb users.
