Squealer is one of two films, the other being Chad Ferrin’s Pig Killer, inspired by Canadian serial killer, rapist, and possible cannibal Robert Pickton. Pickton killed as many as 49 women and fed many of the bodies to the pigs on his farm, others he allegedly ground up and added to pork that he sold to the public.
Squealer begins on an equally sensational note as a silhouetted figure armed with a machete chases a naked woman through some scrubland. She’s struck by an Rv whose occupants take her to the hospital.
Lisa, a social worker who tries to help the local sex workers wants to find out who is responsible, especially after the woman panics and runs from the hospital and gets hit by a truck.

Andy Armstrong’s Squealer started with a harrowing scene. In the middle of the night, we witness an unclothed woman running continuously. The woman was disoriented and probably running from someone wanting to harm her. An old couple driving down the road found her and took her to the hospital. The woman’s entire body was punctured with needles, and she had blood stains all over her body. Her condition was dire, and the doctor had to perform a carotid to help her breathe. The woman kept saying that someone had taken her captive and was looking for her. Cops and the doctor, on the other hand, said she was a drug addict and was talking gibberish. So, who was the woman running from? The nightmare she was having suggested that her kidnapper had been keeping her on a farm. Maybe he was a hunter, as his house was full...

"Feeding time!" Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for a horror thriller called Squealer, marking the feature directorial debut of a filmmaker named Andy Armstrong - who has been doing stunts and working as a second unit director for years previously. When a local cop and an overzealous social-worker follow clues on missing persons cases around town, stomach-turning discoveries are unearthed on a pig farm, where the town butcher has been slaughtering more than livestock. Surprise! Yeah that synopsis pretty much explains everything in this, though there might be a few more twists in it... Or not. Squealer stars Wes Chatham, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Kate Moennig, Danielle Burgio, Graham Greene, Theo Rossi, and Tyrese Gibson. Lionsgate is opening this directly on VOD right away in early November, skipping all of the horror month of October, which is a bad sign. It doesn't look interesting or innovative or anything, just disgusting.

Emancipation is a 2022 drama movie directed by Antoine Fuqua starring Will Smith.
A period piece based on a true story that brings us up and close to extreme suffering and the resilience required to overcome extreme events. Will Smith proves, yet again, that he has the ability to get into character with unquestionable talent and dedication, and with intensity.
Premise
Inspired by the gripping true story of a man who would do anything for his family—and for freedom. When Peter, an enslaved man, risks his life to escape and return to his family, he embarks on a perilous journey of love and endurance.

Will Smith’s Emancipation press tour rolled through Los Angeles on Wednesday as the Oscar-winning actor turned up to support the Apple Original Films’ release in a showing that marked Smith’s first major red carpet appearance since March’s controversial Oscar telecast.
Smith hit the carpet outside Westwood’s Regency Village Theatre just after 7 p.m., joined by wife Jada Pinkett Smith and children Trey, Jaden and Willow. He received cheers from the crush of photographers as he stepped on the carpet, responding with a hearty, “What’s the deal? "I met a girl... she's gone." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for an indie crime thriller titled No Way Out, formerly known as Whisper, set in Los Angeles. This is debuting in August if anyone is interested in watching. Joey Bicicchi stars as a budding photographer who arrives to L.A. and falls hard for the quirky young woman Tessa, played by Australian singer / actress Maia Mitchell. So far this is the most cliche L.A. plot setup ever, and of course something bad is going to happen next. They are embroiled in a passionate relationship fueled by sex, drugs and risk that quickly reaches a boiling point when she asks him to do something dangerous. The cast also includes Ashley Nicole Williams, Guy Burnet, Katelyn Pippy, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Luke Brandon Field, & Andy Cohen. This looks especially cheesy and so excruciatingly unoriginal it's not even worth watching this trailer.

"She's never slept in a nice bed before." MGM has revealed the official trailer for a movie titled Dog, a story about a man and his best friend. "A filthy animal unfit for human company... and a dog." This one is opening in February, after a pandemic delay from this year. Disgraced Army Ranger Briggs and his Belgian Malinois companion Lulu race down the Pacific Coast in time to catch their best friend's and her handler's funeral. Dog is actually the directorial debut of actor Channing Tatum, who co-directs with his producing partner Reid Carolin, also making his directorial debut after producing Magic Mike and most of Tatum's movies. Tatum also co-stars in this with Q'orianka Kilcher, Jane Adams, Kevin Nash, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Nicole Laliberte, Aqueela Zoll, Cayden Boyd, and Skyler Joy. Okay this looks adorable and amusing and wholesome. A story about two animals helping each other get better.

As with the previous Conjuring movies, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is based around a case investigated by real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. While the extended Conjuring universe, which includes the Annabelle movies, The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona, is pure fiction, the main Conjuring films stick with the ‘based on real events’ hook – but how much of the latest movie is actually based on the facts and how much is artistic license?
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is slightly different to the first two Conjuring films in that the key events in the case happen at the very start of the movie, with the main bulk of the film concerning a background investigation that isn’t based on the real case. The real case is therefore the anchor and the bookends.

Billy (Ronnie Gene Blevins) isn't really ready for parole, the panel agrees. Remorseful though he is, he doesn't seem to have fully understood the impact of the crime he committed; he's still at risk of responding to stressful situations with violence. He's allowed out of prison purely on compassionate grounds, because his mother (Lara Flynn Boyle) is dying of liver failure. She hasn't told him, hasn't wanted to worry him. She has only a few months left. It's highly unlikely that a compatible liver will turn up in that time, her doctor says. But if Billy were not concerned about ethics, and had a lot of money, he does know a doctor across the border in Ciudad Juárez...
There are a host of good performances in Scott Windhauser's earnest thriller, but the story and dialogue are so ridiculous that the stars really have their work cut out for them.

"Where is my money? You're not gonna get far... 'cause I will hunt you down." Vertical Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for Death in Texas, a new crime thriller from filmmaker Scott Windhauser. This hasn't premiered at any fests, and will drop on VOD this June. Recently released from prison, Billy Walker will do whatever it takes to save the only person who has stuck by him, his mother Grace, who desperately needs a liver transplant and she is all out of options. Ronnie Gene Blevins stars as Billy, who realizes "he must break a few more laws in order to get his mother to the top of the transplant list in order to save her life." Ha! That's true love. The excellent cast includes Lara Flynn Boyle, Bruce Dern (who seems to be having a blast playing the kingpin), Stephen Lang, John Ashton, and William Shockley. "There's a fine line between poverty and prosperity. All I see is the forgotten..." Vertical Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for Feral State, a gritty crime thriller set in Florida. "Tucked far away from the white sandy beaches and amusement parks is a Florida that few outsiders ever see. Nestled alongside the gator infested swamps and rundown trailer parks lives a charismatic grifter and self-proclaimed 'father of the forgotten' named Mack Monroe." A small misfit gang of runaways and orphans are taken in by a dark and charismatic father figure who together wreak havoc throughout swamps and the trailer parks of central Florida. On their tail is Detective Ellis, played by AnnaLynne McCord. A young new arrival in their gang causes everything to start to fall apart. The cast includes Ronnie Gene Blevins as Mack, with Octavio Pisano, Veronica Burgess, Donnell Siler, Kacey Fisher, & Jasmine Tamposi. This is worth a look.

The indie thriller, which wrapped shooting late last year, will now get a theatrical release in May along with its digital bow.
The plot is set alongside Florida’s gator-infested swamps and rundown trailer parks where a charismatic yet dangerous grifter (Blevins) takes in orphans and runaways off the street. A self proclaimed father to the forgotten, he trains his ragtag gang in the art of thievery and crime, wreaking havoc by knocking off drug dealers and meth labs. A sort of “After Hours” update with a lot more drugs and time ellipses, “The Wave” throws Justin Long down a rabbit’s hole of sometimes hallucinatory, sometimes mortal peril when his button-down protagonist makes the mistake of celebrating a career breakthrough a little too adventurously. This surreal comedy from debuting feature director Gille Klabin and writer Carl W. Lucas offers a colorfully diverting ride that invokes the specter of everything from “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” to “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
What it doesn’t quite have is the singularity of vision those and other movies had in putting their protagonists through some mind-expanding changes, whether induced psychedelically or supernaturally. This fever dream feels more derivative than distinctive, entertaining and eventful as it is. Still, it’s a well-cast, well-crafted stab at something offbeat that should find a modest but appreciative viewership in limited theatrical release (simultaneous with VOD launch) on Jan.

Let’s give Justin Long some overdue credit: few everyman actors actively choose to push the edges of their beta-dude personas. There’s always a need for ordinary guys in rom-coms and sitcoms, and Long could easily coast through them.
As often as not, though, he embraces eccentric efforts that remain under the radar, and surely don’t include a mainstream paycheck. Sometimes these risks are so bananas they become unforgettable, like 2014’s “Tusk,” in which Kevin Smith turned Long into a walrus. And sometimes, inevitably, they’re “The Wave.”
Even here, generous viewers might appreciate Long’s commitment to the unusual and unexpected. Through no fault of his, however, they will find both their loyalty and their patience considerably tested.

The first thing you need to know when entering director Gille Klabin and writer Carl W. Lucas’ The Wave is that it takes a lot of liberties. The second thing is that doing so doesn’t have to be a problem. So much of what happens on-screen is born from convenience and ultimately has no explanation (if it even needs one) before playing its long-term role within Frank’s (Justin Long) hallucinogenic nightmare of an adventure. Just because he might get a handle on what’s happening to manipulate the experience to his benefit (or at least his will) doesn’t mean he (or we) understand how beyond the notion that the implausible isn’t necessarily impossible when a creative strain of karmic retribution proves to be the goal. The sky’s the limit.

The kids just aren’t the same anymore and it’s slowly making Harvey (Robert Patrick) go insane. His son (Ronnie Gene Blevins’ David) thinks it’s dementia and wants to put him in an assisted living institute, but that’s merely another example of America’s youth forgetting their responsibilities. In his day family took care of itself. When Harvey’s wife died, he did everything to give his son a good life. And this is his reward? Abandonment? He’s sacrificed blood, sweat, tears, and time and now he’s done watching the world devolve around him as though it was all for naught. If Harvey’s to be dismissed by society as a dinosaur longing for a past where “men were men and women knew it,” he’s going to go out banging that drum.
