Karla Sofía Gascón, who delivered a breakthrough performance as a ruthless narco gangster transitioning in Jacques Audiard’s crime musical “Emilia Pérez,” has revealed how she fought to get the part.
“At the beginning, (Audiard) did not consider me for the role (of Juan “Manitas” Del Monte), he only wanted me to play the female role after the transition,” the Spanish actress said during a masterclass at the Biarritz’ Nouvelles Vagues Festival, speaking in a packed theater. “It took me a long time to convince him that I could do both, and thanks to… I don’t know what, thanks to this universe, I ended up convincing him.”
Gascón’s performance in the film would earn her the best acting prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly joined Maggie Gyllenhaal’s remake of The Bride Of Frankenstein.
Here’s a fun addition to a production that we’re keenly following: Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly found his way to London where he’s joined the cast of The Bride!, the upcoming reimagining of The Bride Of Frankenstein. The film is being directed by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal and already boasts an exciting ensemble cast.
Along with Jake Gyllenhaal, the cast now comprises the considerable talents of Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard. Honestly, for all of its many flashy casting announcements, we don’t think that even Ria Johnson’s latest Knives Out film, Wake Up Dead Man, can compete with that.
The film is said to be a a reimagining of James Whale’s 1935 classic The Bride Of Frankenstein and will see ‘a lonely Frankenstein...

Despite earning acclaim for his work, Hollywood filmmaker, Woody Allen, has continued to be a controversial figure in the industry. The filmmaker is also known for his nuanced yet problematic portrayal of women in his movies.

Jeremy Renner recently revealed that Robert Downey Jr. was one of the earliest people who got in touch with him after his snowplow accident. The two co-actors played central roles in the MCU. However, if Renner is to be believed, then the Iron Man fame pushed him to recover soon for a very devious reason- the Mayor of Kingstown.
Jeremy Renner as Mike in Mayor of Kingstown
Jeremy Renner shocked several fans last year when he faced a near-fatal snowplowing accident. He suffered critical injuries due to the accident and concerned several fans and close ones about his health. During this time, many co-stars also extended their support and good wishes to him for a speedy recovery. Even though Robert Downey Jr. was also one of them, it looks like his intentions were not solely based on Renner’s health.
Was Robert Downey Jr. more concerned about the Mayor of Kingstown?...

The highly-anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman has been pushed back from its original Oct. 3, 2025 release date on the Warner Bros. slate. The movie will now release Oct. 2, 2026. That means there will now be an over four-year gap between the first film, which saw Robert Pattinson don the cape and cowl, and Part II.
This will of course come as disappointing news for DC fans who have been awaiting the second installment in what’s meant to be a whole trilogy of Batman movies from Reeves and Pattinson. But it isn’t all bad news for Batfans, especially if (weirdly) you also happen to be a fan of The Dark Knight. Taking over the Oct. 3, 2025 spot on the slate is another WB production, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, which is a reimagining of the Bride of Frankenstein, starring Bale, Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, and Penelope Cruz. A new take on the classic tale of The Bride of Frankenstein is headed our way from director Maggie Gyllenhaal, her upcoming genre movie simply titled The Bride!.
The Bride! will release in theaters on October 3, 2025.
We recently learned that The Bride! will star Penelope Cruz as the titular Bride, with Christian Bale as Frankenstein, and Peter Sarsgaard as a detective.
Jessie Buckley (Men, I’m Thinking of Ending Things) also stars.
In the original 1935 film from director James Whale, “After recovering from injuries sustained in the mob attack upon himself and his creation, Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) falls under the control of his former mentor, Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), who insists the now-chastened doctor resume his experiments in creating new life. Meanwhile, the Monster (Boris Karloff) remains on the run from those who wish to destroy him without understanding that his intentions are generally good despite his lack of socialization and self-control.

Warner Bros has pushed Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II starring Robert Pattinson back a year from October 3, 2025, to October 2, 2026, and set Paul Thomas Anderson’s crime tale starring Leonard DiCaprio for August 8, 2025.
It is understood the date change for The Batman Part II stems from the Hollywood strikes, which halted and severely disrupted studio production for close to six months last year.
The sequel to Reeves’ 2022 $772.2m global hit steers clear of DC Studios co-head James Gunn’s Superman on July 11, 2025, which will be the first film on release from the restructured division.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 is no longer opening on October 3, 2025 — a new launchpad for comic book movies. Instead, it is going a year later on October, 2, 2026. We hear the new date is due to the aftermath of the dual strikes.
The spacing also will give some distance from James Gunn’s Superman, which is hitting cinemas on July 11, 2025. That film will kick off Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Studios, the first phase titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Reeves’ Batman is not part of the Gunn universe, but it’s all kosher to co-exist. Gunn has another Batman movie in the works, Batman: Brave and the Bold, with Andy Muschietti directing. Robert Pattinson plays Batman in Reeves’ universe. The role will be recast for Muschietti’s film.

Javier Bardem is currently making headlines for his role of Stilgar in Dune: Part Two. The Denis Villeneuve directorial has been getting rave reviews with 94% on the Tomatometer. And one of the positives on the movie is how Bardem plays the fanatic leader of the Fremen, mentoring Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. But with as menacing and zealous his character is in the movie, he is quite the opposite in real life.
