1. “Grace and Frankie” Season 3 (available March 24)
Why Should I Watch It? If Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda aren’t reason enough — not to mention the rest of the cast, including Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, and June Diane Raphael — then know this: “Grace and Frankie” is a living embodiment of progressive beliefs. Not only does the show cover an array of taboo topics from the dramatic weight of right-to-die debates to casually breaking cultural stigmas surrounding post-menopause sex, but “Grace and Frankie” consists of half-hour episodes that don’t adhere to comedic or dramatic formulas. The tone is unique to the series, respecting the characters and building to moments of great power and great humor. So give it a try.
Best Episode: We haven’t seen Season 3 yet — Netflix, please send screeners at your earliest convenience — so we’ll simply say this: Midway through last year, when debating the best TV...

FX is moving forward with their new X-Men drama series Legion. They ordered a pilot episode last year that is currently in production, and the cable network seems to like what they have done so far, because according to Variety, the network has picked it up for a season of ten episodes.
There’s been a lot of mixed reaction regarding this series. Some people seem excited for it, while others just don’t care. I’m personally really curious to see how it’s going to turn out because of the level of talent involved with developing it.
Fargo creator Noah Hawley is the brains behind the series, and that guy has done incredible things with Fargo! On top of that, it stars Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest), and that guy is an incredibly talented actor. He will be joined by Fargo alums Rachel Keller and Jean Smart,...

Today in 1957 Waiting for Godot opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, where it ran for 6 performances. An absurdist play by Samuel Beckett, it revolves around two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, who wait endlessly and in vain for someone named Godot to arrive. Godot's absence, as well as numerous other aspects of the play, have led to many different interpretations since the play's premiere. Since its Us premiere in 1956, several notable revivals have been produced, including the 1988 production featuring Robin Williams and Steve Martin, and the 2009 revival starring Nathan Lane and Bill Irwin.

Confession: I am extremely terrible about keeping a calendar, or even a letterboxd list which I update sporadically from time to time before forgetting again. In short the only "diary" of any sort I have is this ode to movies you're visiting now... The Film Experience. Nevertheless in reviewing the film year I realized that I haven't been frequenting NYC's wonderful repertory theaters as much as in past years. Must fix. And I really have to do a better of keeping track of what I'm seeing in general lest I actually forget I saw something and it's missing from Lists. *gasp*
But I ♥ going to the movies. And if you're reading this it's safe to assume that you do too. So it's list time. Please share your favorite moments of moviegoing this year in the comments.

Harris died at her West Chatham, Mass., home of congestive heart failure, actress and family friend Francesca James said.
Harris won five Tony Awards for best actress in a play, displaying a virtuosity that enabled her to portray an astonishing gallery of women during a theater career that spanned almost 60 years and included such plays as "The Member of the Wedding" (1950), "The Lark" (1955), "Forty Carats" (1968) and "The Last of Mrs. Lincoln" (1972).

It looks like the birthday boy isn't taking a moment to rest. Celebrating his 43rd birthday, Christopher Nolan will have to blow out the candles a little later, because right now he's continuing to add names to his already massive cast for "Interstellar." David Oyelowo, the constantly on the brink and Playlist fave actor you've seen in "Jack Reacher," "The Help," "The Paperboy" and "Red Tails" among others (and who features in the upcoming "Lee Daniels' The Butler") is now aboard the movie. And he's being joined by "Cloud Atlas" actor David Gyasi. Of course, their roles are being kept under wraps, so let's just recap the poster credit crowding cast right here: Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Timothee Chalamet and Topher Grace. Filming kicks off next month and it will hit theatres on November...

While Christopher Nolan has never had a problem rounding up top rate actors to appear in his films, he's also always been up for throwing a curveball every now and again. Think Eric Roberts in "The Dark Knight" or Tom Berenger In "Inception." And it looks the filmmaker has another trick up his sleeve and may be a closet fan of "That '70s Show." Deadline reports that Topher Grace has boarded the cast "Interstellar." Yes, Eric Forman will now rub shoulders with Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, "Twilight" actress Mackenzie Foy, and "Homeland" actor Timothee Chalamet. Of course, don't ask what his role will be because as per usual Nolan is keeping all details locked in a vault deep in the Earth's core. But what we do know is that the movie will involve time travel and wormholes.

Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi drama “Interstellar” keeps sounding better and better, especially with the latest addition to the cast in Casey Affleck, brother of Ben, and for my money, easily the better actor in the family. (Sorry, Ben.) With Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain already slotted for the film’s three main roles (with Michael Caine and Bill Irwin also tossed in there somewhere), Nolan has now added Affleck to the super duper secret film. Of course it goes without saying we have no idea what role Affleck will be playing in the movie, just as we have no idea about the roles of any of the other castmembers, including the three leads. All we really know for sure is that Nolan and his bro Jonathan wrote the film, which at one time was a Steven Spielberg project. Spielberg has since left, but we do know that the...

Casey Affleck has joined Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi movie Interstellar.
The actor himself revealed the news to Elle Magazine;
“I’ve got a movie coming out at Thanksgiving called ‘Out Of The Furnace,’ and I’m going to work on a Chris Nolan movie in the fall.”
Affleck, who will be working with Nolan for the first time, joins the ever-growing cast of amazing talent that already includes fellow newcomers Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Bill Irwin, and former Nolan cast-members Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine.
Scribed by Chris’ screenwriting brother Jonathan Nolan (Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight) years ago but only recent taking the director’s interest, the movie tells the story of a group of explorers who go through a wormhole and will deal with time travel and alternate dimensions. Update: Casey Affleck is the latest to sign on to Christopher's Nolan's time-traveling "Interstellar," which currently has Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain and Bill Irwin lined up. Affleck has been on a roll lately, with David Lowery's Western "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" (August 16) and Scott Cooper's "Out of the Furnace," which Relativity is giving a confident Oscar push this coming awards season. "Interstellar" is set for a November 7, 2014 release. McConaughey also had a great year in 2012, with an acclaimed role in "Magic Mike," a box-office smash, and in smaller, edgier fare like "Bernie," "Killer Joe" and "The Paperboy." "Interstellar" will continue his move away from the usual typecasting in favor of well-received films with auteur backing. Hathaway and Nolan are reuniting for "Interstellar," following the actress' 2012 turn as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises." She won the Oscar earlier this year for "Les Miserables"; Chastain.
