Greta Gerwig has a story about the moment she knew she would become a director. Shortly after she starred in and co-wrote “Frances Ha” with Noah Baumbach, she met “Orlando” director Sally Potter at a party. Gerwig cornered Potter, to pick her brain.
“I do that with people I admire,” Gerwig said. “I was writing a lot. I was asking her about how she does what she does. Does she do it first thing in the morning in longhand, or many computer drafts? I was being nerdy and needy, and she was answering and being very kind.
“Then she grabbed me by the arm and looked me in the eyes and asked me, ‘What do you really want to ask me about?’ My blood ran cold. ‘You really want to ask me about directing.’
‘How do you know that?’

Actress Raveena Tandon, who will soon be seen in the drama revenge thriller Maatr has written an open letter to the nation.
“Crimes in India have been on a constant rise of late. As a mother, this really scares me. Sometimes, we read about horrifying incidents in the newspapers or watch these gruesome acts being discussed on television; during such times, my worst fears begin to haunt me. As a mother, a person’s thoughts are a lot different than how they would have been otherwise.
As of today, more than 34,000 rape cases are lodged every year, which is just a miniscule fraction of incidents that have actually occurred. Because of this, I am always on my guard. My blood boils when I read about people being harmed, about young boys and girls and their helpless parents.
Dear young boys, all I can tell you is Stop. Stop objectifying women.

#sagawards pic.twitter.com/3BGDGa0FLC - SAG Awards® (@SAGawards) January 30, 2017 Things naturally got political at the SAG Awards. In light of Donald Trump's recent immigration ban, Ashton Kutcher kicked off the ceremony on Sunday by welcoming "everyone in airports that belong in my America." Not only was his jab met with a rupture of applause from the crowd, but he even took it one step further by adding that immigrants are "part of the fabric of who we are." The president's recent executive order certainly hits close to home for the actor as his wife, Mila Kunis, came to the United States as a refugee when she was only 7 years old, which he pointed out in a heated Twitter rant ahead of the award show. My wife came to this country on a refugee visa in the middle of the Cold War! My blood is boiling right now!

That’s the case in the new Polish film “Demon,” which premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows Piotr (Itay Tiran), or “Python” as he’s called by his friends, who comes from England to a small Polish island to meet his bride, Zaneta (Agnieszka Zulewska). They plan to live in her family’s home, but it’s stood for decades and in need of restoration. The effort quickly unearths buried bones close to the house, and one day Piotr falls into the remains in the middle. Soon, he begins to be transformed by a presence that an aging Jewish professor labels a dybbuk,...

To help build anticipation for their forthcoming album, English electronic duo AlunaGeorge shared a new Zhu collaboration on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Following the premiere of the new collaboration, Aluna Francis discussed the upcoming album in a short interview with Lowe and revealed how they first came to work with Zhu.
The new track, titled “My Blood,” features stunning production help from Zhu that compliments Francis’ smoky vocals perfectly. The song also boasts dark, trap-style beats with skittering hi-hat rushes and pounding sub kicks roiling away underneath moody atmospheres and Francis’ unmistakable crooning. Zhu’s superb production skills are on full display here as he melds a spellbinding backdrop for the infectious track.
“My Blood” serves as the second collaboration between Zhu and AlunaGeorge, following up on “Automatic” from last fall’s Genesis Series Ep. The premiere will no doubt have fans looking forward to the official release on AlunaGeorge’s anticipated album,...

It was just last year at this time when Rosamund Pike was gearing up to attend the 2015 Oscars, somehow the sole representation for David Fincher‘s Gone Girl at the ceremony. While she’s not up for anything this year, fans of the actress will be pleased by her latest performance in the video for Massive Attack and Young Fathers‘ “Voodoo in My Blood,” from the former’s Ritual Spirit Ep.
With touches of Phantasm and Possession, it lives up to its title as we follow Pike’s character through a subway and she seemingly gets possessed by a floating orb. The video is directed by seasoned commercials helmer Ringan Ledwidge, and one can check it out below, along with the full Ep.

Spectre director Sam Mendes says the latest Bond theme has already been recorded, but we're still none the wiser as to who'll be crooning over the film's opening credits.
8 coolest things you didn't spot in the Spectre trailer
22 best and worst Bond theme songs ranked
Ahead of the announcement of Spectre's theme song, we look at the contenders to follow in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner et al.
1. Ellie Goulding
Why it could be them: No stranger to movie soundtracks, Goulding has lent tunes to everything from About Time to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Fifty Shades of Grey. Her ethereal voice would certainly add an interesting flavour to Spectre, and Sam Smith certainly seems to think she has it in the bag.

This week, The Bachelorette picked up in the midst of Ian telling Kaitlyn Bristowe exactly what he thought of her — and that wasn't much. After calling her shallow and accusing her of coming on TV to make out with a bunch of dudes, he told her he was going to go home. A stunned Kaitlyn did a pretty impressive job of keeping her cool. "My blood is boiling a little bit right now. I'm super offended by you," she began before readily admitting, "I am not [...]...

Dear Mrs Burley,
I have a question. As a journalist with ‘…over a million minutes of presenting live TV’ - as your Twitter bio informs us - are you not aware of basic Journalism concepts?
Have you fallen so deep into Mr Murdoch’s pocket that terms such as objectivity, impartiality and balanced opinion have become as disposable as the media in which you now preside over?
To sit and watch your embarrassing attempt at ‘journalism’ during the interview with Merlin Entertainment Chief Executive Nick Varney was…well…painful. You alluded to the most farcical interview style, one driven purely by content and controversy, failing to give any form of balanced insight throughout. What’s more you attacked a man based on hearsay, speculation and an aggressive agenda styled round the trash produced by Fox News and the like (yet another convenient entity of Rupert Murdoch’s empire).

If you believe that Disney's "Cinderella" needed to be retold in an eye-meltingly glossy live action version, and powered by Ellie Goulding's "My Blood," then perhaps you are looking forward to the mouse house's latest brand extension. If not, you may start wondering how anybody thought this was a good idea, as a new trailer for the endeavor has landed. Even a bunch of promos in, Lily James and Richard Madden are aggressively bland in the lead roles of the lowly Cinderella, who scrubs laundry in the kind of picaresque setting where most people try to vacation, and the prince, who walks around sets borrowed from "Oz The Great And Powerful." Their love is forbidden until something about a glass slipper and destiny and midnight or whatever. You know where this goes. "Cinderella" waves a wand on March 13th. And yeah, Cate Blanchett is in this too.

The future may be a pretty bleak place to live in "Divergent," but at least there's plenty of good music to dance to. The soundtrack for the upcoming sci-fi film has been revealed, and will feature the likes of Chance the Rapper, Skrillex, A$AP Rocky, M83, Zedd, and more. It also includes a number of tracks from Ellie Goulding, whose voice is also featured in the film's score. Among the new songs on the album is a collaboration between Aussie rockers Tame Impala and L.A. rapper Kendrick Lamar. There will be a special edition featuring three bonus tracks (including another by Goulding) available exclusively at Target. "Divergent" takes place in a future dystopia where people are separated into groups based on their personality. The 19-year-old and her husband Josh McKee, 20, welcomed a daughter around 12:43 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 7), In Touch reports.
Douthit McKee shared a photo on Instagram of her baby bump hours before giving birth:
"I am so thankful for a healthy baby girl," Douthit McKee says of newborn Jaxie Taylor. "Many friends and family were praying and everything went great! She is a beautiful miracle from God. I feel very blessed."
While doctors warned Douthit McKee against have a second baby because she's a type 1 diabetic (meaning she could have slipped into a coma during labor), everything went fine during the birth. "My blood sugars and the baby's were fine during the delivery," Douthit McKee says.
Jaxie Taylor is the second child for the couple, who were married in August of 2013 and are parents to 2-year-old son Gannon.

On Jan. 19, E! premiered its newest guilty pleasure #RichKids of Beverly Hills, which will immediately be either your favorite new TV show or the most obnoxious program you’ve ever seen. I’m personally a fan of horrible people doing fabulous things (or fabulous people doing horrible things, which is pretty much the same thing anyway), so I’m reluctantly on board for this trashy romp through the luxurious world of Beverly Hills twentysomethings.
While the show purports to follow a cast of spoiled brats, the #RichKids at its core are Dorothy and Morgan, two high-living do-nothings who are alarmingly self-aware in their preposterousness.

Star & Dagger, an all-female blues rock unit founded by former White Zombie bassist Sean Yseult, recently released their debut album Tomorrowland Blues. and the track “In My Blood” is now accompanied by an ambitious video which pays shot-by-shot homage to Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror classic The Shining. Of course, Star & Dagger isn't the first band to quote the iconic imagery from that film, and probably won't be the last (the best-known example being “The Kill” by Thirty Seconds to Mars). But “In My Blood” offers some of the more faithful and clever recreations of Shining set-pieces we've seen lately, and it's pretty clear Yseult's genre and cult movie sensibilities extend far beyond her tenure in White Zombie (the band's earlier video for “Your Mama Was a Grifter” is a spin on the grindhouse classic Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!). The trio, which also includes vocalist Von Hessling and guitarist Dava She Wolf,...

"Teen Mom 3" star Mackenzie Douthit can't wait to be a mother again ... despite the warnings her doctors have given her.
Because Douthit is a type 1 diabetic, the risks are high for both her and her baby. According to her doctors, giving birth again could risk both her life and her baby's as she could slip into a coma during labor. "My blood sugar could get so low that I pass out -- and won't wake up," Douthit, 19, tells Life & Style.
Douthit, who revealed that she was pregnant with baby No. 2 back in September, says that her doctors advised her against becoming pregnant again. "I'm very scared," the mother of son Gannon, 2, says. "My doctors didn't want me to go through this again, but really if you look at it in the long run, it's way better to have kids young while my body's still somewhat healthier than waiting until I was older.
