An underrated masterpiece, this remake of a fairly obscure Austrian horror film takes things to a higher level of greatness than the original. In both the acting and cinematography departments, there are notable improvements, creating movies that although taken from the script, feel very distinct from one another. At times, not even feeling like a horror film, but rather as some slowly paced drama with meta elements sprinkled in, “Funny Games” is unlike any other film I’ve seen.

An absolute classic, this has got to be the best the Coen Brothers have ever offered. From the wonderfully unsettling performance and writing of Anton Chigurr, one of cinema’s greatest antagonists to the way the movie manages to stay thrilling across its runtime, this movie is a must watch.
