The Power universe is always good for throwing us a huge curveball in the middle of the season, and the latest episode of Power Book II: Ghost doesn't shy away from this formula in the slightest. This week, the spinoff series revealed a huge secret that Monet (Mary J. Blige) has been holding onto about her family for years, and the major revelation comes as a huge shock to us all! If you ever wondered about the mystery behind Zeke's (Daniel Sunjata) biological parents, it looks like we finally have our answer.
During episode four, Monet shares that she is actually Zeke's mother (not his aunt like we thought), and his father is Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) - aka the mysterious flame from Monet's past who's come back into her life. The nominations for the 35th Independent Spirit Awards have been announced, and it was a big morning for “The Lighthouse” and “Uncut Gems.” The annual indie awards ceremony is presented by Film Independent and takes place the day before the Academy Awards on the beach in Santa Monica, California. The Spirit Awards have become known over the last decade for showcasing nominees that are a mix of underdog films and higher-profile awards contenders.
It’s important to note the Indie Spirit Awards has a budget ceiling of $22.5 million, meaning any movie made for more than this amount is ineligible for nominations. For this reason, Martin Scorsese’s Netflix-backed “The Irishman” was not eligible for 2020 nominations (the film had a budget north of $150 million). Netflix’s other top Oscar contender, Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story,” is eligible for Spirit Awards and landed a Best Feature nomination. As has become common over the last several years,...

Young and the Restless fans are a little surprised. We are a little bit shocked that Cane is so shocked about his situation right now. She’s not in the best place she needs to be in her life to make decisions like this, but she is in a place where survival is her main goal, and the distraction of worrying about her cheating husband is not the best option.

Young and the Restless fans are just shocked. Shocked that Cane was so aggressive with Billy. For one, he had no right to go in there and hit him like that even if Billy did run to Lily and tell her that Cane was cheating on her with Victoria. You see, while this is really no business of Billy’s to do that and make that choice, we do have to wonder if Cane is thinking this through. I grew up with telenovelas. I lived in Mexico during my formative years, and telenovelas were appointment viewing, with my friends and I faithfully gathering after school to watch the latest episodes. They had wonderful and outlandish names and dealt with cheating spouses, long-lost siblings, lucrative business deals, and a whole lot of evening gowns worn inside the house. Through those telenovelas, we saw that we could be anything we wanted to be when we grew up: rancheras who had to keep our land away from dastardly uncles; evil stepmothers with heavy, gaudy earrings; romantic heroes with two, three, even four different love interests; nuns and time travelers and high school women. We were inspired, and our imaginations ran wild with possibilities for our future lives. Telenovelas, in all their hyper-stylized dramatic storytelling, taught me that, as a young Latina, I could be anything I wanted.

Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. How do you put that much action down on...

Back in the '80s, TV was a trip. Once I finished my mandatory 30 minutes of piano-practicing, I was one of those kids who plopped herself down in front of the TV until dinner time (of course, this was the days of yore when children weren't laden with bulky knapsacks or dragging those little suitcases to and from school, burdened by hours of homework -- but I digress).
So I've loved everything about TV for as long as I can remember. I learned to tell time with "Polka Dot Door," Balki Bartokomous was my favourite character, I had crushes on Face from "The A-Team" and Jeff Colby from "Dynasty" (side note: I wrote both actors, Dirk Benedict and John James, respectively, fan letters and only heard back from one of them -- complete with autographed picture. Squeee!), and my mother and I would catch up on the day's soaps ("Ryan's Hope,...

Jimmy Smits is joining the cast of Sons of Anarchy next season as a dangerous gangster (aren't they all?), FX confirms. He'll play Nero, a tattoo-covered baddie who starts mentoring Jax. Just what Jax needs: more people coaching him on how to be scary and violent! Jimmy Smits can't seem to launch a pilot (Outlaw, Cane), but the guy sure can leave his mark on an established, prestigious drama: He did it on NYPD Blue, he did it on West Wing, he did it on Dexter. So now, naturally, it's motorcycle-gang time.

Sons of Anarchy is revving up the drama with a little help from Jimmy Smits.
The erstwhile Dexter Big Bad has booked a major season-long arc in the upcoming upcoming fifth season of the FX hit, playing Neron “Nero” Padilla, a Latino gangster who becomes an unlikely (and dangerous) mentor for the Sons’ new king, Jax.
Our sister site Deadline first reported the casting.
Sons of Anarchy Boss on Season 5 Game Plan, and the Arrival of ‘King’ Jax and ‘Queen’ Tara
In addition to Dexter, Smits’ most recent TV credits include starring roles on two short-lived series, NBC’s Outlaw and CBS’ Cane.

The unveilings continue for Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" with today's dwarf pictorial coming from Time Magazine.
Their photo shows the dwarf lords Balin (Ken Stott) and Dwalin (Graham McTavish), brothers who are close relatives and the "most loyal and trusted friends" of the Company's leader Thorin Oakshield.
Balin has fought many battles but harbors doubts about their quest, Dwalin has no such doubts and is a strong fighter with a distrust of all non-Dwarves - especially Elves.
Both Stott and McTavish are Scottish actors best known for their TV work but have had plenty of big screen experience as well.
Stott is mostly known for British police dramas such as taking over the title role in the detective series "Rebus" from "The Mummy" actor John Hannah in 2006 and 2007. Stott also scored much acclaim and an award nomination for his work as Di Chappell in ITV police...

While Britain's TV dramas wallow in working-class life (see: Shameless, EastEnders, Coronation Street, The Royle Family), American soaps have always tended to be glittering and glamorous.

As every CSI fan will attest, there is no replacing William Petersen. Laurence Fishburne did an admirable job keeping the Las Vegas team intact for the last two years with his portrayal of Raymond Langston, but the CBS drama never recovered in the ratings once Gil Grissom rode into the sunset. As a result, the show finished the season with a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 (each ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers). It was ranked No. 30.
