The teaser trailer for “Paddington” takes viewers — and one cuddly little bear — from the jungles of Peru to England in a mere 51 seconds. The most viewers see in the brief clip of the curious red-hatted guy is him peaking out from the top of a bag at the end, in front of a Lost and Found at London's eponymous Paddington Station. See video: ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ Trailer: Watch Optimus Prime Bitch-Slap a Dinosaur Colin Firth voices Paddington. Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins and Nicole Kidman also star in the adaptation of the children's books. “Paddington” hits theaters in the UK on.

The future may be a pretty bleak place to live in "Divergent," but at least there's plenty of good music to dance to. The soundtrack for the upcoming sci-fi film has been revealed, and will feature the likes of Chance the Rapper, Skrillex, A$AP Rocky, M83, Zedd, and more. It also includes a number of tracks from Ellie Goulding, whose voice is also featured in the film's score. Among the new songs on the album is a collaboration between Aussie rockers Tame Impala and L.A. rapper Kendrick Lamar. There will be a special edition featuring three bonus tracks (including another by Goulding) available exclusively at Target. "Divergent" takes place in a future dystopia where people are separated into groups based on their personality. Directed by Neal Burger ("Limitless"), it stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet and Maggie Q. 1. “Find You” – Zedd feat. Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant 2. “Beating...

A new short film competition, Vivid Digital, offers entrants the chance to get their work noticed – not least when it is screened on a 15m video wall in the heart of the City
Do you miss Screen Test and its young film-makers' competition? Discovering a talented director without the guiding hands of Messrs Rodd, Trueman and latterly Curry is like panning for gold in YouTube's river of piano-playing cats. What's more, funding films – never mind getting potential film investors to look at your work – can be a trial for aspiring directors and writers.
Enter, then, Vivid Digital. Aside from putting prize money and a commission up for grabs, this new short film competition has the wider aim of showcasing work by up-and-coming film-makers in a location where they could conceivably attract investment for future projects – namely, the heart of the City.
Curated by consultancy Art Acumen, the year-long art programme has three categories – film,...

It’s been a tough year for tragedy in Hollywood, and Jeffrey Ian Pollack died while jogging in Hermosa Beach, California on Monday (December 23).
The 54-year-old producer was found by a fellow jogger at 6:30am and initial reports suggest Pollack was in the midst of his usual morning exercise routine when he suddenly passed away.
Captain Tommy Thompson of the Hermosa Beach Police Department told press, “He was already deceased [when discovered]. He was very cold and had been there a bit.”
Thompson added, “It’s still unknown how he died. We’re not sure if it was a heart attack, but there were no signs of foul play.”
Jeffrey was responsible for introducing the world to Will Smith on “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” and his credits also included “Booty Call,” “The Tyra Banks Show,” and “Lost and Found.”

Jeff Pollack, the director of "Above the Rim," "Booty Call" and " and Lost and Found," was found dead while jogging in California. He was only 54 years old. An unidentified woman called the police. By the time they arrived, Pollack was already deceased. He was dressed in jogging clothes and carrying an iPod, which was still playing the Eagles. Police do not suspect foul play and it is believed he died of natural causes while exercising. He was an avid runner and softball player. Outside of directing the three movies, Pollack was also a producer on "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," which was based on his business partner Benny Medina's life experiences.

"Lost and Found" took a few turns I didn't expect and left me remembering how different Blue Bloods is from anything else on TV.
When Frank found out that police chaplain Father Markham had been let go on four possible Dwi charges, I had no doubt how the Police Commissioner was going to handle it. Yet Frank still did the decent thing and let the man turn himself in instead of sending someone to arrest him.
What I didn't see coming was why the priest had fallen off the wagon or how personally it would affect Frank.
The stories about the police officers sifting through the rubble looking for bodies after 9/11 and that picture in Frank's office of the towers burning before they fell still put my stomach in a knot after all these years later. I can't imagine the affect the memories must have for the people who worked the front line.

The personal and the professional have a way of merging for the Reagans of "Blue Bloods."
Such was the case again in "Lost and Found," Friday's (Oct. 25) episode of the CBS police drama written by co-executive producer Daniel Truly. Frank (Tom Selleck) was alarmed to learn Father Markhum (Frank Wood, "The Newsroom"), the NYPD's chaplain, had been stopped for driving while intoxicated ... "the fourth time in two months," police chief Dino (John Ventimiglia) revealed.
The clergyman had rear-ended another car, and Frank worried that intervening would appear to be favored treatment -- something the arresting officer already had furnished by letting the priest sleep off his condition. And Frank realized such handling was "the reason I never heard about the other three Dwi's."
Later, Frank entered a confessional to talk to the chaplain, and told him to turn himself in: "Even priests do penance, Jerry."

Rachael is heart-broken by this week's emotional episode of Haven. Here's her review of New Girl...
This review contains spoilers.
4.5 New Girl
You know, I wasn’t using my heart this weekend. So it’s all just gravy that Haven broke it into to tiny, sharp little pieces with this episode and left it strewn up and down the coast of Maine, honestly.
It was bad enough that Lexidrey didn’t recognize our merry band of misfits last week, much to the distress of, well, everyone present at “the door”. This week we got to know Lexie a bit more in a hands-on sort of situation. Well. Sort of. We got to know an Audrey in Lexie hair, make-up and attitude. Spoiler alert. She knew it was Nathan the whole time and just spent the whole episode carving his heart out with a rusty...

Rachael finds this week's Haven a heartstrings-tugging affair. Here's her review of Lost and Found...

4.4 Lost and Found
Buddhist Duke has returned. I forgot about him for about a season but he’s back! I missed him and his sage-like advice and it has returned. I’d say return is the theme of this week’s episode. There are stolen children that need to be returned to their families (Oh my God, let me show you all the crap I don’t give about the cases in Haven, look, look at it all!) and most importantly, the return of Audrey Lexie from the mysterious barn-world to the real world through doors. We’re not talking metaphorical doors either. Oh no, these doors are literal and magical and we spend the whole episode trying to pry the suckers open.
As far can be seen,...

When you’ve witnessed a headless entity wield a machine gun and you’ve battled a sleep demon in your scorpion-venom-tinged slumber, your bar for completely-and-utterly-messed-up might be set a bit higher than the average joe’s.
That’s gotta be the reason that Sleepy Hollow‘s Abbie and Ichabod barely pause when they encounter a fountain of evil, magical lava in this week’s episode, right?
Or maybe they’ve just spent their daily allowance of “What in the what-what?” on learning the horny demon’s name/agenda and finding out that Ichabod was an original member of the Tea Party.

Be honest, "Haven" fans: How many of you had bad dreams after watching the fanged-and-clawed monster children of "Lost and Found"? It's a safe bet that many did after a creepy -- yet illuminating -- episode like that.
But questions about interrupted sleep patterns are not the only queries one might have after the most recent "Haven" installment. How could they be, considering that this is the Season 4 episode that brought Audrey/Lexie (Emily Rose) back to Maine from ... wherever she was.
Here are the top 10 burning questions left over from "Lost and Found":
10. What would have happened to Audrey if Jennifer hadn't opened the door on her end?
9. Does Duke really just keep two "Karate Kid"-style headbands on-hand?
8. Since only Nathan seems to be thinking about the poor guy at all, are we ever going to get an answer as to what happened to James?
7. How much,...

Finally. Haven brought an end to the "Audrey's in the Bar(n)" saga with a nifty little twist. While we waited for that, we were treated to a truly spine tingling Trouble, making "Lost and Found" the best episode of Haven Season 4 so far.
While none of my theories or wishes of what might occur when Sarah/Lucy/Audrey/Lexie made her way back to Haven was used as the end results, it still changes everything and makes what comes next pretty exciting.
First let's chat about The Trouble of the week. Anything with kids is always extra scary, but put black blunt cut wigs, spiked teeth and blue eye shadow on them and make them giggle like little freaks and you can count me out of playing ring around the rosy with them.
I had never heard of a Douen before, but if I know my friends well enough,...

When we last talked to Kate Kelton about her return to Haven Season 4 and the role of Jordan McKee, she filled us in on how her Troubled character (and fan favorite) escaped death in last season’s finale.
But now that we’re a few episodes in, much has happened, the biggest being that Audrey (Emily Rose) is finally on a quest to get back to Haven (as well as regain her memory) with the help of guest star Colin Ferguson. And then, of course, Jordan is hell-bent on getting The Troubles gone for good and seems poised to do whatever it takes to make that a reality.
I recently sat down with Kelton, who gave me an idea of what’s next including some hot and heavy action and, of course, she teased some big surprises coming up.

In advance of its world premiere at the currently underway 2013 Venice Film Festival, FilmBuff announced that it will digitally release the doc "Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater," which follows the titular filmmakers as they gab about sports, art and friendship over the course of a leisurely weekend in Austin, Texas. Gabe Klinger's film combines these filmed interactions with extensive archival material to explore the filmmakers' connections and differences. Benning is a legendary figure in the experimental underground, best known for "One Way Boogie Woogie" and "American Dreams (Lost and Found)." Linklater most recently helmed the third entry in his "Before" series, "Before Midnight," starring Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. "Benning and Linklater have been heroes of mine for as long as I’ve been into film," Klinger. "Making a documentary that attempts to present their work and ideas in an entertaining and original way was one of...

I was really unsure of "Lost and Found" during its first half.
Aside from Artie, Myka and Pete having fun on their pirate adventures, Claudia and Steve felt completely out of character. Nick was somehow coming between Steve and Claudia’s friendship. It wasn’t adding up. Nick might have had some pull with Claudia because of his rough childhood, but there was no way he would be able to yank them apart so easily.
Naturally, my warning signals should have went off with far more force when it was revealed that Nick was Charlotte’s son. Thankfully, Warehouse 13 spelled it out for me - and things picked up considerably.
I have to give Nick credit; he jumps on his immortality when he passes himself off as a teenager. It’s the perfect cover to dupe Claudia and Steve as he uses his considerable experience to his advantage.

It was Willennium all over again. Turning up to promote his new movie, After Earth, on The Late Show With David Letterman Monday night, Will Smith proved he's still got the musical chops after bursting into an impromptu rap of his hit "Summertime." Strolling out to the funky song, which Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra played as his intro, Big Willie couldn't resist grabbing the mic and laying down a few verses for old time's sake. Of course, before he was a Hollywood megastar, Smith made a name for himself as a highly successful hip-hop star. While his last musical venture was the 2005 album Lost and Found, the A-lister still gets jiggy with it on occasion—like in...

Chicago – Real horror fans know the names Don Coscarelli & Stuart Gordon. They are two of the most important genre directors of the ’80s, men who found ways to get their visions to the screen and redefined the cult horror film in general. Coscarelli made his biggest waves with the “Phantasm” films (and later with “Bubba Ho-Tep”) while Gordon’s biggest hit is probably still “Re-Animator,” although is closely followed by “From Beyond.” That sci-fi/horror masterpiece was just released in a lavish new Blu-ray edition with Coscarelli’s attempt at studio game, “Phantasm II”. Both are must-owns for horror fans.
“From Beyond” is the better of the two films but I must admit that “Phantasm II” is significantly better than I remembered. I had kind of lumped it in my memory with the inferior sequels and forget how much fun Coscarelli was allowed to have with his bigger budget while...

Juneau, Alaska — A ball. A boat. A little girl's sandal. Filmmakers are working to find – and tell – the stories behind some of the items that have washed up on North American shores following the deadly 2011 tsunami in Japan.
"Lost and Found" aims to reunite items discovered by beachcombers and others who feel compelled to return them to their rightful owners, co-director John Choi said.
A trailer for the film, which is still being produced, features two men affected by the items they've found. John Anderson found a volleyball on a beach in Washington state and Marcus Eriksen, head of an expedition that sailed from Japan to Hawaii to look for tsunami debris last year, found part of a boat. Neither of the items has been linked to their original owners yet.
"It was just like, Whoa, oh man! There's one of them balls with all the writing on it," Anderson says in the clip.

I’m a bit of secret fan of Phantasm II. Whereas the first film was a lucid waking nightmare, Phantasm II hit its hardest like that great sequel, Aliens, in every single way. Plus, a four barreled shotgun is always freaking cool no matter what. Scream Factory sent along specs, cover art and ordering links for the home video release of that film, and the Empire classic From Beyond, released on March 5th, and March 26th respectively.

It's one of director Stuart Gordon's most beloved cult favourites and rightfully so, delivering a riotously slimy, brain-suckin' good time. Finally, on February 25th, UK audiences can catch the madness in high-def glory courtesy of Second Sight. What's the movie? Why, it's From Beyond, of course!
Read on for the lowdown!
From the Press Release:
From the team that brought you the gloriously perverse Re-Animator comes the equally surreal horror classic From Beyond, which makes its long-awaited debut on Blu-ray thanks to Second Sight Films.
Based on another H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, this deranged gorefest is directed by Stuart Gordon (Stuck) and produced by horror supremo Brian Yuzna (Society). It comes to Blu-ray in stunning limited edition packaging, along with a DVD release, on 25 February 2013.
Obsessive scientist Dr. Pretorius (Ted Sorel) and his assistant (Jeffrey Combs) have invented ‘The Resonator’, a device designed to stimulate the brain’s pineal gland...

Pulitzer Prize award winning playwright Lynn Nottage's (Ruined) play, By The Way Meet Vera Stark, about a fictional black actress working as a maid to a fading white Hollywood actress, was a critical and box office Off Broadway smash. The play is still being performed currently at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles with Sanaa Lathan, who originated the role in the premiere N.Y. production; also in spring 2013, the play will be staged at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. However, Ms. Nottage and filmmaker Carmen Levy-Green, with some creative license, have made a "mockumentary" about Stark, titled Lost and Found: Refinding Vera Stark, which...

Although the idea of yet another Korean romantic comedy might not exactly set the pulse racing, “Love Fiction” does have something a little different to offer, attempting to follow realistically the many ups and downs of modern relationships, told chiefly from the point of view of the man. The latest offering from writer director Jeon Gye Soo, (“Lost and Found”, “Midnight Ballad for Ghost Theater”), the film features Ha Jung Woo (“The Yellow Sea”) as its male lead, with actress Kong Hyo Jin (“Crush and Blush”) as the object of his affection. Korean audiences were certainly taken with its blend of humour, romance and incisive commentary on the male psyche, and the film scored big at the box office, with over 1 million admissions in its first week. Ha Jung Woo plays Jool Wol, a 31 year old struggling writer and part time bartender, who blames his lack of success on his inability to find true love.

The new film by Jeon Gye-soon (The Fox Family, Lost and Found) sets up as a traditional romantic comedy before exchanging its light-hearted sense of humor for a heavy-handed critique of male relationship fantasies. While a critical examination of a classically self-centered male psyche is always welcome, in the case of Joo-wol (Ha Jung-woo, the frightening serial killer in The Chaser), his hidden insecurities and phobias burst forth with much less foreshadowing than the John Hurt "chest pain" scene from Alien. And that's a fatal error in a story that's told (nearly) entirely from his perspective. We meet Joo-wol as a bartender with writer's block, a common-enough malady for a thirtysomething underachiever. But then we learn that he's already had one novel published and...

James Fearnley, one of the founders of the seminal Irish-English folk-punk band The Pogues, will be signing his new memoir Here Comes Everybody on Saturday afternoon at Lost and Found in Hollywood. The book has been available in England since April, where it has garnered strong early reviews, but doesn't yet have a U.S. publisher, which Fearnley is actively seeking. Here Comes Everybody is a fascinating look at the rise and fall of The Pogues during the band's crucial first decade, going from the gritty council flats of Thatcher-era London to world tours with Elvis Costello

Some may argue Lisa Cholodenko‘s been quiet since The Kids Are All Right, but behind-the-scenes news indicates she’s busy as ever. The writer-director is already developing a family comedy with Steve Carell — one with the sure-to-be-shortened title of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day — and writing a TV version of her Best Picture nominee in the meantime. But, regardless, Laurel Canyon fans are a notoriously impatient bunch, and they probably want to know more very soon.
Lucky for them, Cholodenko was part of a little get-together at Columbia University earlier this week, whereat it was personally announced that two projects (of varying content) are being zeroed in on at this moment. The first of these is more a confirmation: The Abstinence Teacher, a picture that, back in Febraury of 2011, we had heard she was circling with the intent to helm. The film — once a...

Director Lisa Cholodenko recently sat down with The Playlist moments before her panel with fellow alum Shari Springer Berman and Nicole Holofcener at the Columbia University Film Festival this week, to debate the glass ceiling and how it affects making their films -- during the course of which, Cholodenko let slip a couple of her yet-to-be announced projects among her other updates.
First up, the director and co-writer of "The Kids Are All Right" confirmed that she's taking over the adaptation of Tom Perrotta's book "The Abstinence Teacher," which at one point was to be directed by "Little Miss Sunshine" team Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton, with Steve Carell and Sandra Bullock circling roles. Previous Perotta adaptations include "Little Children" and "Election" (which starred Reese Witherspoon).

Touch returned this week, leaving me feeling both hopeful and confused. Where last week's episode tugged at my heart, "Lost and Found" left me with some serious questions.
Not that the hour didn't have its heart warming moments. Martin's dream had me longing for the guy to get just one hug from his son.
Martin and Clea's search to find her mother and the lost boy definitely drove the center of the story. The one thing I didn't understand was why Clea let her mother run off if she thought for even a moment that the woman may have abducted a child. Would it have been that difficult to follow her? But I suppose the story would have wrapped up a lot quicker if she had.
I liked how Clea said that her mother agreed to go back to the hospital for today. That was a victory. There's no way...

Both the Directors' Fortnight (May 17 through 27) and Critics' Week (May 17 through 25) have presented the posters for their 2012 editions — here and here, respectively. Neither is quite as classy as the poster for the Cannes Film Festival itself (May 16 through 27), but each captures the spirit of its strand pretty well.

Peter Cook: Genius at Work opens tomorrow at BFI Southbank in London and runs through March 21. "Although Cook has had his tributes before on the South Bank — there was a special Pete and Dud night in 2004, celebrating his legendary double-act with Dudley Moore — none has been as extensive as this, timed to coincide with what would have been Cook's 75th birthday year," writes Dominic Cavendish in the Telegraph. "Curator Dick Fiddy has lined up a rare old bag of treats. Hanson was actually speaking to the TCA press about his Bones spin-off, The Finder – albeit via Skype, due a motorcycle accident on Tuesday that left him with a broken ankle. (At one point,...

Welcome to Grey’s Anatomy’s “What is it about Men” episode. Translation: The most uninteresting episode of the season. Ok, let’s get this over with.
AfterEllen Bait (What enticement did the episode use to reel in gay lady viewers?)
The Ae bait rating is incredibly low because the episode focuses only on the male characters point of view. And the only reason I gave it even 5% was because Callie and Arizona were actually seen together on camera, although their 20-second scene took place in the first two minutes of the show and they did not return for the rest of the episode. Calzona is off for a three-day conference and Mark will be watching Sofia. Hey Calzona! Is there room in your car for one me? No? Ok, then, I guess I’ll just hang out with the guys.
Feelings, Feelings, Feelings! (Did the episode have a lot...
