Alfred Hitchcock’s North By Northwest arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for its 65th birthday: more on the release here.
Something that’s occasionally forgotten when talking about the work of Alfred Hitchcock is just how big and mainstream his films were. Because he’s now such a revered movie director, he tends to get boxed in towards art house classics sections, when actually, so many of his films are very, very broad churches.
Which leads me to North By Northwest. It took me a while to get to the film for the first time, but this is in its own way a big, broad, blockbuster film. Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason star, in a film that’s got some ambitious set pieces in it. And, well, it’s just a hell of a rollercoaster, that really holds up. Not bad for a movie that’s celebrating its 65th birthday.

Kim Kardashian’s personal life has always been in the spotlight, no matter who she’s dated and married. The American socialite has been married three times.
She was first married to music producer Damon Thomas. Then she tied the knot with former NBA player Kris Humphries, but their marriage only lasted 72 days. Her most recent marriage was to Kanye West, which ended in divorce in 2021.

West and Kardashian have four children together: two daughters born in 2013 and 2018, and two sons born in 2015 and 2019. Kimye privately got married at Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, in May 2014.

After several quiet weeks in movie theaters, four films entered wide release over the weekend. “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” came out the top dog, with $23 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The performances of all four films – “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” “Saw X,” “The Creator” and “Dumb Money” – told a familiar story at the box office. What worked? Horror and animated franchises. What didn’t? Originality and comedy.

The Story: Eddie Hawkins (Bruce Willis) aka the Hudson Hawk is a master cat burglar recently released from prison after a long stretch. Determined to go straight, he’s nonetheless blackmailed by the psychotic Darwin (Richard E. Grant) and Minerva Mayflower (Sandra Bernhard) to undertake a series of jobs in Rome involving the components of a machine designed by Leonardo da Vinci that converts lead into gold.
The Players: Starring: Bruce Willis, Andie MacDowell, Danny Aiello, James Coburn, Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard. Directed by Michael Lehman.
The History: With Bruce Willis’s sad health situation forcing him into retirement, it’s worth digging into his filmography to examine some of his less-seen gems. For me, one of the big ones is Hudson Hawk. In 1991, Bruce Willis was arguably at the peak of his fame. “Moonlighting” was done and Die Hard had made him into one of the biggest action stars in town,...

Brandy Clark could probably use a little rest. In the week before she sits down with me in Nashville, she’s been in New York to appear on Today — which required a 5 a.m. glam appointment — then attended a Tony Awards luncheon before heading to Los Angeles for another event, and then back home to Nashville. Somewhere in the middle of that, she had something like 26 straight hours of being awake.
Despite a stifled yawn or two, Clark has plenty to be excited about right now. In addition to putting out a new album,...

Director Dexter Fletcher may not have been personally party to the concept of “ghosting” before he signed on to direct “Ghosted,” but he certainly knew it didn’t involve actual ghosts. Not so for everyone else eagerly anticipating the AppleTV+ spy comedy, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, and thought it was, well, about dead people.
That confusion was cleared up when the film’s first trailer and official tagline arrived in March (and then an official synopsis followed, telling us that it follows “salt-of-the-earth Cole [who] falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie — but then makes the shocking discovery that she’s a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world”). But for awhile there, even Fletcher’s own family thought it was a love story in which at least one of the paramours was dead.

Brandy Clark and Brandi Carlile make a dream pairing as collaborators on Clark’s latest album. The self-titled release, which was produced by Carlile, will be released May 19 and includes the new track “Buried.”
Clark’s fingerstyle guitar playing is the foundation on which “Buried” is built, and it’s from there that other layers are added in slow succession. It’s a subtle, unfussy recording, framing Clark’s melancholy delivery perfectly, and as a song, it’s full of characteristically great Clark lines. With his newest deep-dive movie about movies, prolific documentarian Mark Cousins switches up his approach by adding a heaping dollop of mischief. My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock, his love letter to one of cinema’s towering greats, flaunts a title that could be an impostor’s declaration on To Tell the Truth. The opening credits announce that the film was “written and voiced by Alfred Hitchcock.” Say what? The first sound of that voice on the soundtrack, however familiar its adenoidal depths and Cockney slants, sparks reasonable doubt — suspicions confirmed when the maestro’s initial comments concern a huge bust of him in London, erected 20 years after his death.

One of the thieves who was involved in Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris robbery is speaking out about the heist.
Yunis Abbas was one of 12 men who stole 10 million (Usd) worth of jewellery from Kardashian after breaking into her hotel suite.
“Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that. Guilty? No, I don’t care,” said Abbas in an interview with Vice News.
One of the pieces stolen was the engagement ring Kardashian was given by Kanye West.
“I went on the internet, and it’s true, I saw her jewelry, I saw her ring, I saw that she showed it everywhere, and we knew this information through social media,” Abbas recalled.
“I saw one of her shows where she threw her diamond in the pool in that episode of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’. I thought: ‘She’s got a lot of money.

What would happen if you mashed-up Star Wars & Alfred Hitchcock's North By Northwest? Editor Fabrice Matthieu took it upon himself to mash-up up Hitchcock's classic with some dazzling moments from A New Hope, and the result is pretty spectacular. Kaley Cuoco's HBO Max drama The Flight Attendant was just renewed for a second season. And if you missed its first eight-episode run, stop what you're doing right now to catch up on all the chaos that happens in the mile high club. The Big Bang Theory alum plays Cassie, a flight attendant whose party-girl ways land her beside a dead man after a one-night stand. Now being the FBI's main suspect with no memory of the night in question, Cassie sets off to find the real killer before she's locked up for a crime she's 80 percent sure she didn't commit.
"Cassie is a high-functioning addict who makes the most asinine, nonsensical choice at every crossroads."
HBO has had several buzzy titles this year (cut to last month's frenzy over The Undoing's finale), but this comedic thriller regrettably flew under the radar, becoming one of this year's most underrated titles.

Before Rami Malek enters Oscar season with his upcoming performance as Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” he’s starring opposite Charlie Hunnam in a new adaptation of “Papillon.” The movie, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, is based on Henri Charrière’s autobiographies “Papillon” and “Banco,” plus the famous 1973 film of the same name starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.
“Papillon” stars Hunnam in the title role of Henri “Papillon” Charrière, who is sent to a penal colony on Devil’s Island after being framed for murder. Charrière forms an alliance with a convicted counterfeiter named Louis Dega (Malek), who agrees to finance the innocent man’s escape from the colony. Roland Møller, Tommy Flanagan, and Eve Hewson co-star.
Hunnam and Malek both rose to stardom as the stars of cable dramas “Sons of Anarchy” and “Mr. Robot,” respectively, the latter winning Malek a best actor Emmy trophy.

★★★☆☆The second crime thriller to come from director Michael Noer (whose previous film, 2010's R: Hit First, Hit Hardest, was a collaboration between himself and fellow Dane Tobias Lindholm), Northwest (2013) does little that's new but still does enough to grip and occasionally thrill over the course of its necessarily brief runtime. Taking place within the Nordvest suburb of Copenhagen, notorious for its high crime rates and relative poverty, Noer's dark tale of low-level drug dealers and seedy sex traffickers is at its best when at home with the film's two shaven-headed brothers, the eldest of whom quickly finds himself seduced by the types of luxuries a life of crime can offer a willing footsoldier with "balls of steel".

Award-winning Danish director behind R and Nordvest to set new feature around a love story at an old people’s home.
Danish director Michael Noer, who set R in a prison and Nordvest in the criminal underworld, has chosen an old people’s home for the setting of his new feature Key House Mirror (Nøgle Hus Spejl).
The film will shoot from late next month for Nordisk Film Production and is being lined up to premiere in 2015.
Ghita Nørby – the grand lady of Danish film and stage – will star as a 76-year-old woman who moves into the home with her sick husband, only to meet the love of her life played by 80-year-old Swedish actor Sven Wollter.
Noer came up with the story for Danish writer Anders Frithiof August to script, and the Danish Film Institute has contributed $1.4m (Dkk 7.5m) for the Tomas Radoor and René Ezra production for Nordisk in collaboration with Danish pubcaster Dr TV.
