Perfect in every way to what George Lucas intended to portray; so fitted to its space opera genre that it seems familiar and right from the first frame of the introductory crawl to the sound of the light sabre to the triumphant victory march and Han's wink at Princess Leia. This is an unusual Western which rebels against the traditional macho Western tradition by having a hero (played by a perfectly-casted Gregory Peck) who doesn't have to be continually proving his manhood by meeting every male challenger in the Western culture in which he finds himself. Instead, he takes action only when he wants to prove his worth to himself. But the biggest reason I love this movie is the glorious music of the soundtrack by Jerome Moross.
