We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including The Affair, Bones, Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy!
1 | Did John Noble’s Sleepy Hollow return make you miss him even more?
2 | On Grimm, isn’t Meisner much more fun dead than he ever was alive?
3 | Did The Affair really think we’d want to spend half of the finale focused on new character Juliette over, say, seeing Alison or Cole at all? (Speaking of which, why so little of Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson this season?...

Katrina hops on Ichabod’s maybe-we-can-save-Henry crazy train in this week’s Sleepy Hollow, and this is after The Horseman Formerly Known as Jeremy impregnates her with a demon.
I understand that a mother’s love knows no bounds, but Katrina, honey? Loosen your corset, because there’s clearly not enough oxygen getting to your brain.
One upside of the situation: Abbie acts as a stand-in for the audience, so she gets to execute some epic eyerolls, incredulous head shakes and general “Have you lost your damn minds?” looks. It’s a good time, or, as good of...

As we head into the holiday season, it’s time to cherish the final weeks before all of our favorite television shows go on their winter hiatuses. As much as it hurts to say goodbye, mid-season finales mark the (second) best — behind actual season finales, of course — time of the year for TV.
So this week is all about catching every possible mid-season finale that you can, and then running to the theater for a little Jennifer Lawrence-Bradley Cooper reunion.
All times listed are Eastern.

Fast & Furious 7 has already added several new faces to the crash-happy franchise, including Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, and probably several hundred cars that will soon meet their destruction in a metropolitan fireball of automotive calamity. But the series isn’t forgetting its roots: EW has confirmed that Lucas Black — who memorably essayed the part of White Dude in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift — will return for Fast & Furious 7.
Deadline originally reported that Black’s deal is actually for the next three Fasts, which implies that the franchise is world-building towards a genuine trilogy — a three-film saga...

Chicago – I find it fascinating that “Fringe,” the show that always seemed to be on the bubble for renewal and was always included in articles about low-rated programming, appears to be one of the most influential on the Fall 2013 season. Fox has two new dramas in the Fall and they’re both from “Fringe” alum — J.J. Abrams’ “Almost Human” and Robert Orci & Alex Kurtzman’s “Sleepy Hollow”. They’re clearly looking for, believe it or not, the next “Fringe.” For while the smart sci-fi drama never found a huge audience on TV, it found an incredibly loyal one on Blu-ray, On Demand, iTunes, etc. and those fans can now complete their collection with a bittersweet but complete fifth and final season release.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Fans will likely have seen and loved the final season of “Fringe” and so Warner Bros. wisely includes a few nice bells and whistles to please those...

Top 10 Juliette Harrisson 2 May 2013 - 07:00
Now that Fringe has finally left the building, Juliette salutes its ten best episodes. See if your favourite made the cut...
For five years, Fringe kept us glued to our screens with alternate universes, alternate timelines, alternate futures and a weekly dose of stories it would be unwise to watch while eating a meal. Ultimately a show about family and the things we do, right or wrong, for the people we love, whether it was doing The X-Files with extra red vines, Sliders with more people getting chopped in half or Dark City with more countryside. These are ten of its finest hours.
10. An Origin Story (Season Five)
Season five tells one continuous story across its thirteen episodes, which means that, like other shorter and heavy serialised shows (Game of Thrones, True Blood, Spartacus) it’s harder to identify individual episodes that really stand out,...

Fringe Review, Season 5, Episode 10: “Anomaly Xb-6783746”
Written by David Fury
Directed by Jeffrey Hunt
Fringe has a tradition of doing at least one surrealist episode per season and this year, that episode is “Black Blotter”. As in “Brown Betty”, the noir-inspired musical episode from season two, Walter gets high and the episode around him reflects his mental state. Then it was with a potent strain of marijuana, here he’s on acid. Walter hopes his trip will help him recover the memories he needs to complete his plan against the Observers (so he’ll be able to have Nina remove the pieces of his brain turning him back into his older, crueler self) and, though he’s faced with visions of the lab assistant who burned to death years ago, causing his initial incarceration at St.

Review Billy Grifter Dec 30, 2012
Billy salutes the acting in this week's Fringe and names it one of the best episodes ever...
This review contains spoilers.
5.10 Anomaly Xb-6783746
I'm going to say from the outset that this was one of the best Fringe episodes ever, certainly of this season, even if in narrative terms relatively little happened.
Last week I mentioned that the uncommunicative Observer boy would become rapidly boring, and I'm happy to accept I got that entirely wrong. The trials and tribulations of getting him to respond proved a most interesting puzzle, but what I really liked here is that the time to save the world is getting rather short. Windmark is also becoming a worthy antagonist, determined to understand more about his foes, before calmly wiping them out.
I could talk about the tension-building queue to the interrogation room, the cool Observer tech that uses the resonance of...

Last week’s new Fringe episode was excellent, and one of the highlights had to be the salute to Terry Gilliam (showrunner Joel Wyman says the Fringe team are big Gilliam fans) that was the – oh, let’s call it a “waking dream” that Walter had, which helped him remember the password required for access to the Observer boy.
The best news of the day is that there’s a new episode of Fringe tonight. The second best news of the day is that we have the clip of that dream for you, right here and now:

We also have featurettes about last week’s episode, including a “Noble Thoughts” featurette, plus clips and a TV spot for tonight’s new episode. Apologies if the clips are out of order, there’s no real way to know until we actually watch the episode.

Tonight on Fringe (Fox, 9/8c), in the ninth of the farewell run’s 13 episodes, Walter embarks on a trip of the acid kind in his latest effort to recall the plan to defeat the Observers. But what harsh realities await him in the LSD-infused surreality? Will his addled state prevent him from helping the Fringe team with a new mystery? And will he find safe passage back from this far-out journey?

Various and sundry thoughts from the mind of Mindy this week:
The USS Enterprise (Cvn-65), the eighth U.S. Navy vessel to bear that name, was decommissioned this week after 50 years of service. The world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier made her maiden voyage on January 12, 1962 and her first mission was tracking and monitoring the first orbital flight of Project Mercury, with Lt. Col. John Glenn aboard the Friendship 7 capsule. In popular culture, the Enterprise was the home base of Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) in Top Gun, with the late director Tony Scott filming and incorporating flight deck operations into the film, and it was the flagship of the U.S. Navy fleet participating in The Hunt For Red October.
Then, of course, there is Star Trek – and did you know that Gene Roddenberry’s original starship name was the USS Yorktown? But the fame and status of...

The final movie you see on screen represents the hard work and dedication of countless people. What started off as an idea has snowballed into a piece of art with the influence and fingerprints of often hundreds of people left on it. Like any piece of art, movies go through many changes from inception to completion. Sometimes what started off as one idea, has transformed into something completely different by the time you see it on screen. Here are 7 items that you have come to recognize in films, and what they were originally supposed to be. The changes of the items are born from many reasons, through various stages of production. Much like the recasting of a character, it is often hard to imagine what a film would be like if that item was different. Along with a couple of honorable mentions, I've included videos for each of the items as well,...

By merging the former Visions into the Wavelengths section, Cameron Bailey has essentially made a new incontournable programme. Headed by Andréa Picard, the section which at a time was populated by medium to short run times now includes some of the bigger names in innovative feature film filmmaking who have no qualms about bending the medium. This year the sections includes long, medium and short length works from the likes of Ben Rivers, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Carlos Reygadas (pic of his controversial Post Tenebras Lux above), Wang Bing, Mati Diop (actress from Claire Denis and Antonio Campos films) and our very own writer Blake Williams who makes it two for two at Tiff with Many a Swan – he previously had Coorow-Latham Road programmed last year. hollywoodnews.com: I remember being genuinely shocked at the success of Meet the Fockers back in Christmas 2004. It had been well over four years since the original and, box office aside, it wasn’t a film that cried out for a sequel. I figured that no one cared, that it had been too long since the original, and that the sequel would do token business but no more. For the second time in 2004, I was dead-wrong. Twice that year, sequels that didn’t have all that much pre-release buzz around them exploded out of the gate and kept going for the next few months. The other was Shrek 2, which opened out of nowhere on the pre-Memorial Day weekend to $108 million over three days and $128 million over five, to end up winning the year with an astonishing $441 million. Meet the Fockers grossed $46 million over the three-day portion...

As the final screening of the night comes to a close with Black Devil Doll wrapping up in the Brenden Theatres, we're already prepping for the show floor to re-open at 10am. Tickets will be available at the door for only $20 beginning at 8:30am, and here's what horrors lie in-store for Halloween.

As a participant in the second Fangoria Blood Drive (released on DVD in 2005), filmmaker Jake Kennedy quickly made our watch list. As his career has blossomed over the past few years, Kennedy has now completed his second feature film, Penance. Fangoria is proud to be presenting a special screening of the film on May 30th as a part of our Midnite Madness series at The Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills, California.
We recently caught up with Jake for a round of 13 Questions for Fango readers to get better aquainted.
Fangoria: What kind of educational background do you have? Jake Kennedy: I was educated in England and went to boarding schools from the age of 10. I then went to university and got a degree in Psychology and Cartography. Very handy!
Fangoria: I know you’ve got a history in the marketing/sales field, how does having that experience help you in the film industry?...
