Star Wars Celebration is finally winding down after Lucasfilm delivered some exciting looks at future movies and TV shows. One of the biggest projects to have some exciting developments was The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is coming to theaters on May 22, 2026. Star Wars has delivered some iconic merch over the years for droids and creatures, and the latest subject of gear is Grogu, the adorable green Force user who first debuted in The Mandalorian. At Celebration, Collider's Maggie Lovitt sat down with The Mandalorian & Grogu writer/director Jon Favreau and Star Wars visionary Dave Filoni, and asked what a potential popcorn bucket for the film could look like. Favreau mentioned that the potential for toys and collectibles factors into character designs, but that they haven’t reached a verdict on the popcorn bucket. Favreau told Collider (at 5:06 in the video above):

Artificial or not, Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos has some ideas on how artificial intelligence could make films “better.” During the company’s first-quarter earnings call on Thursday, Sarandos said that he believes that the real opportunity for AI in filmmaking is if they can help films be “10 percent better,” not just “50 percent cheaper.” Sarandos cited James Cameron’s recent comments about how the technology could cut production costs in half.

“There’s a ton of excitement about what AI can do for content creators,” Sarandos said on the call. “I read the article too about what Jim Cameron said about making movies 50 percent cheaper. Both Europe’s most right-wing nation and its second hottest destination for international shoots, Hungary has shocked the world with its recent ban on LGBTQ+ public events. But Hollywood is not yet ready to give up on the country’s generous tax incentives.

An amendment to the constitution passed on Monday by the Hungarian parliament codifies a law passed in March that made it an offense to hold or attend events that violate Hungary’s “child protection” legislation, which prohibits the “depiction or promotion” of homosexuality to minors under 18.

The Hungarian government will use measures to enforce the ban including the use of facial recognition software to identify those attending LGBTQ+ public events — such as Budapest Pride — and infractions can come with fines of up to 200,000 Hungarian forints ($546).

It’s not Hungary’s first anti-lgbtq+ law. Back in 2021, the country’s parliament passed a law forbidding the dissemination of content...

Florence Pugh has addressed her future in the Dune franchise after making her debut last year in Dune: Part Two. Pugh stars as Princess Irulan in the box office-breaking sci-fi sequel, the daughter of the Emperor (Christopher Walken) who ultimately cedes power at the end of the movie to Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet). Pugh’s Princess Irulan agrees to be Paul’s willing bride so long as he spares her father’s life, and he agrees to the arrangement in front of Chani (Zendaya), his true love, who will now be forced into a life as his concubine. During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Pugh confirmed her return in Dune: Messiah, and also shared what she hopes to see from Princess Irulan in the third installment of the franchise:

The first quarter of the year has ended, and we entered the second quarter this April, which started with a bang with A Minecraft Movie. The Hollywood box office has been slower this year, and this has happened even with big-budget films like Snow White and Captain America: Brave New World. As we enter Q2, let’s rank the top 10 highest-grossing Hollywood movies of the year so far at the worldwide box office. Despite being a box office failure, Snow White is also among the top 10, and there are a lot of other films to release this year, and the ranking will change as well. Keep scrolling for more.

Based on research, the first quarter or Q1 is mostly slower in comparison to the other quarters of the year. It is lagging behind major film releases following the December holiday rush.

Found footage freaks, get hype, because we’re getting it in spades with the new viral marketing campaign for Zach Cregger’s Weapons. Yesterday, New Line Cinema released a series of creepy Ring camera-style images and videos through their social media accounts. Plus, they launched the website MaybrookMissing.net to cultivate a strange mystery around Cregger’s latest feature. And from what we’ve seen so far, Weapons looks downright chilling.

The website is something out of the early 2000s, perfect for cultivating that air of truth around Weapons. Without that sleek, polished feel typical of a movie website, this looks like something made by a small-town journalist trying to establish their local paper’s digital footprint. It’s very The Blair Witch Project, which set the standard for viral marketing campaigns before its release in 1999.

A couple weeks after making its mark at CinemaCon with footage that was described as being “batshit insane,” Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have officially kicked off the marketing campaign for director Zach Cregger’s (Barbarian) Weapons with a mysterious image.

This first look teaser image for the upcoming “horror epic” – which has been compared to Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia – is a simple photo of an alarm clock set to 2:17am, which is an important time in the world of Cregger’s Weapons. That’s precisely when every kid in town wakes up, gets out of bed, walks outside in the dark and never comes back home.

Even before Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster’s most recent film, Beau Is Afraid, was released back in April of 2023, there were rumblings that his next project would be a “western noir dark comedy” called Eddington. This is a project Aster would be circling back to, because at one time he thought Eddington was going to be his first feature. Soon enough, it was confirmed that the “contemporary western that takes place during the pandemic” would be his fourth film – and just last week, it was announced that Eddington will be screening at the 78th Annual Cannes Film Festival in May before receiving a theatrical release on July 18th. With its Cannes screening swiftly approaching, a trailer for the film has dropped online, and you can check it out in the embed above. A poster has also been unveiled; that can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Days after A24 released the first image from Ari Aster’s Eddington, the film got another exciting look. The first trailer for Eddington has officially been released, and it will serve as the follow-up to Beau Is Afraid, the 2023 mind-twisting psychological thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Ryan. Aster will reunite with Phoenix for Eddington, which also stars Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal and two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone. The film is a contemporary Western following a standoff between a small-town sheriff and a mayor that sparks a powder keg of a matchup in the small town of Eddington, New Mexico. The trailer is set almost entirely on social media, with characters from the film providing their input on socioeconomic issues like the Covid-19 pandemic. Eddington will also star Austin Butler, who recently featured in Dune: Part Two, and Luke Grimes, the Yellowstone veteran who is also known for his work on Fifty Shades of Grey.
