Clémence Poésy and Emily Beecham have boarded King & Conqueror, CBS Studios’ big-budget period drama that stars James Norton and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Harry Potter star Poésy will play Matilda, the wife of William of Normandy. Raised in the cutthroat world of the royal court, she has realized that in order to succeed she has to be more devious, more ruthless and more bloody than her male opponents. Beecham (1899), meanwhile, is Edith Swan-neck, the wife of Harold Godwinson who has never quite found her place in Harold’s family.
The duo join Norton and Coster-Waldau, who are leading as Harold, Earl of Wessex and William, Duke of Normandy respectively.
The show, which has already sold to the BBC in the UK, tells the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through...

Sometimes a small cast and an intriguing premise are all that’s needed for effective TV horror. (And it makes it a hell of a lot cheaper to produce too.) Case in point: 1973’s A Cold Night’s Death, starring Eli Wallach and Robert Culp, a two man tour de force pitting man against man against the fragility of the human mind. Plus monkeys!

I've spent the last week sitting on my parents' couch and eating a ridiculous amount of food that was delicious but incredibly unhealthy, so the idea of moving around actually sounds pretty great right about now. Editor Robert Jones provides a bit of inspiration with a new supercut of dance scenes from '90s movies, set to Fatboy Slim's "Praise You." He did a pretty good job of including all of the major examples that immediately come to mind, but check and see if your favorite '90s flick made the cut below:...

Tomorrow, August 5, is a special day that may be missing from calendars in a gross oversight: It’s the 30th anniversary of Lionel Richie’s hit song “Dancing On The Ceiling.” Such a momentous occasion as that shouldn’t go unnoticed and must be celebrated in some fashion. Luckily YouTuber Robert Jones has rushed to the rescue with a brand-new supercut that honors Mr. Richie’s ode to ceiling-based gyrations. While the original music video was a raucous good time with people awkwardly dancing, as was the fashion of the time, Jones has outdone that video with this tribute to all sorts of people busting moves in a multitude of ’80s movies.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it, just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee. Or, it could be a listen to this Lynchian mixtape inspired by the massive cast list released for the new iteration of Twin Peaks, which has a surprising number of musicians along with actors.
This list includes, but is not limited to, Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder, Sky Ferreia, and Sharon Van Etten, along with actors who also dabble in music such as Jennifer Jason Leigh, Monica Bellucci, and Richard Chamberlain. The songs are tailor-fitted to the mood of the show, a combination of the eerie, sad, dark, joyous, and full of life.

We tend to get used to the structure of crime based shows, they follow certain rules. With Murder: The Complete Series this is turned on its head by providing the stories in a documentary style, based on interviews after the case has finished. You’ll probably expect there to be a few twists, which of course there are many.
Featuring not only the series itself, but also Murder: Joint Enterprise we meet characters connected to the murders and they set their case. This can be family of the murdered person, witnesses or the accused person themselves, all ready to give their information over to us. We then have to decide exactly what has happened and who is the real culprit.

The Bafta award-winning drama Murder is set to return to BBC Two with three new films. Co-created by Robert Jones and Kath Mattock, and written by Robert Jones, the three 1 hour dramas have been made by Touchpaper TV for BBC Two.
Continuing with the same innovative and unique format, with three new standalone films, Murder uses personal confessions to revisit the missing moments leading up to a death, in search of the truth.
Intercut with CCTV footage, live action and forensic evidence, the protagonists speak direct to camera giving their version of events. But where does the truth lie when the different versions don’t add up?
Jessica Barden (represented by Curtis Brown) stars in in the third instalment Murder: The Big Bang, directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.
Ten years ago, an off-duty policeman was killed in cold blood in a swimming-pool car park. That much is not in dispute.

We.ve seen some fun dance montages on YouTube before, but most of them only focus on movies that include...well...dancing. Most of the time, a look back on dancing in movies limits itself to movie musicals or other films where dancing is an important aspect of the story. This time, pretty much any moment in the history of cinema where somebody gyrates slightly differently is fair game. It opens with Ex Machina for crying out loud. One content warning: the music is very '90s. It.s so good it makes you wish you didn.t suffer from a debilitating lack of rhythm. Or maybe that.s just me. This video, entitled, "Gonna Make You Sweat," after the song which is used, is by YouTuber Robert Jones, who has created other dance tribute videos in the past. We've written a lot about the work of editor Robert Jones, who has created mash-ups, tributes, and supercuts dedicated to '80s teen movies, films that take place in the future, fight scenes, Marvel movies, and drugs on film. Now, just over a month away from Valentine's Day, he's back with a tribute to romance in movies, celebrating some of the most memorable cinematic couples ever depicted on the big screen. I'm disappointed that the stupid Love, Actually card scene made the cut, but I can appreciate just about any video that includes both Humphrey Bogart and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Check it out:

Futuristic films present us with different versions of what the future might hold...at least according to those cinematic predictions. But that's why they are so interesting. They allow us to travel through time and space. We can experience what we might never really experience and we can see worlds and creations that might never really be seen or created.

Special Mention: Spirits Of The Dead (Histoires extraordinaires)
Written and directed by Federico Fellini (segment “Toby Dammit”), Louis Malle (segment “William Wilson”), Roger Vadim (segment “Metzengerstein”)
France, 1968
The first thing you should notice is the three directors: Federico Fellini, Louis Malle, and Roger Vadim. Secondly, take notice of the cast, which includes Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, Peter Fonda, Alain Delon, Terence Stamp, Salvo Randone, James Robertson Justice, Françoise Prévost and Marlène Alexandre. Spirits Of The Dead is an adaptation of three Edgar Allan Poe stories, one of which demands to be seen.
The first segment of the film, Vadim’s “Metzgengerstein”, is unfortunately the least impressive, but is still great in its own right, and features a marvelous performance by Jane Fonda. Malle’s segment, which is the second of the three, turns Edgar Allan Poe’s 1839 story into an engrossing study in cruelty and sadism. This episode is an engaging enough entry,...

When it was released in the summer of 1975, Steven Spielberg’s killer shark masterpiece “Jaws” became an instant hit that kick-started the blockbuster era of American mainstream cinema. The movement was solidified with the release of “Star Wars” two years later, but “Jaws” was the spark that ignited the big budget spectacle era, which we’re still in the middle of forty years later, for better (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) or worse (The “Transformers” franchise). In order to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, editor and Vimeo user Robert Jones put together an exciting and visceral video tribute to Amity Island, Brody, Quint, Hooper, and Bruce the Shark, that also works as a fast-paced and engaging 3-minute trailer that focuses mostly on the thrills and the action. Relying heavily on John Williams’ haunting and perfectly escalating score, Jones manages to construct a high-tension narrative that fits the hyperbolic sensibilities of modern blockbuster trailers.

We’ve posted quite a few Guardians of the Galaxy mashups on our site. My favorite so far is the Star Wars mashup that cut footage from the Star Wars trilogy into a more modern style trailer that used Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” and Blue Swede’s “Hooked On A Feeling” — the two songs used most heavily in the promotion of GotG. That thing was perfection. This new mashup by Robert Jones parodies the Friends intro, using the classic sitcom’s theme to introduce characters from Marvel’s runaway hit. I love/hate this mashup. I love it because it’s a funny concept executed well. I hate it because it immediately forced my brain to consider which Guardians of the Galaxy character would be which Friends character. Now I’m gonna force you to read what I came up with:

For all of those who were confused by Orange Is the New Black's Emmy categorization as a comedy, a cleverly cut clip of the series' most memorable moments offers a preview of what the Netflix show would've been like if it fit more clearly into that TV show genre. Like, for example, an '80s sitcom like Golden Girls. Over the weekend, YouTube user Robert Jones posted a video mashup of the Jenji Kohan series, set to the Golden Girls theme song, "Thank You for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold. The opening sequence, titled "Golden Is the New Black,"

There is nothing warm and fuzzy about doing hard time, unless you add the right music.
Genius YouTube user Robert Jones created a new intro for Netflix hit Orange Is the New Black by replacing Regina Spektor's tune with the Golden Girls theme. The new ditty transforms the cavity searches and cold showers of Litchfield into '80s comedy fun.
Instead of Blanche and her buddies chit-chatting and eating cheesecake, this clip is all about dancing and playing pranks on your fellow inmates – because nothing says "Thank you for being a friend" like a tampon sandwich.

Whether it's a spontaneous bit of dancing or a more choreographed number, movie history is full of great dance moments. And as it happens, the internet is full of supercuts, but the above video and the sequel that followed rises above some of the rest, thanks in large part to great editing, as it looks like the creator really took the time to fit the dance clips together so they line up with the song. Set to Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance," "We Can Dance - Hollywood Movie Dance Tribute" links Road Trip, It's a Wonderful Life, Grease, Mean Girls, Dirty Dancing, Silver Linings Playbook, 500 Days of Summer and quite a few other great movies together through dancing. And it all ends up with the Beetlejuice scene. Beyond the editing, what I really like about Robert Jones' video is that he works some more obscure dance moments into it.

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a Danny Boyle-directed police drama.
The commission was announced by C4’s chief creative officer, Jay Hunt, at the Edinburgh International TV Festival who said she was “delighted” to have secured a show from the Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting-director for the channel.
Few details were mentioned about the drama, which will be written by Peep Show’s Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and set in the world of modern policing. In film, the writing duo are best known for their work on the screeplay of Four Lions, with director Chris Morris, while Armstrong co-wrote Armando Iannucci’s political satire In The Loop.
A pilot of Boyle’s new TV series, exec produced by Robert Jones, will go into production later this year to air early in 2014, followed by a series commission.
The as-yet-untitled drama will be produced by Nightjack Ltd.

On the one hand, you could look at this movie fight scene supercut by Robert Jones – who also brought us the dancing in movies supercut – and say, "Wow, movies are really violent." On the other, you could say, "Wooooooo! F*** yeah, that kicked so much a**!!"

Either way, this exhaustive montage of fight scenes from 98 movies to the soundtrack of Motley Crue's "Kickstart Me Heart" will at least get your adrenaline pumping on this dreaded Monday morning.

BBC Two drama Murder has been commissioned for a full series.
Murder: Joint Enterprise won 'Best Single Drama' at Sunday night's (May 12) BAFTA Television Awards and an extended series will now follow.
"Murder was one of the most striking and distinctive single dramas on BBC Two last year and I'm delighted to see it turn into a series," said BBC Two Controller Janice Hadlow.
Joint Enterprise - which aired in August 2012 - starred Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones) and Karla Crome (Misfits) as two young people caught up in a murder investigation, with both characters directly addressing the camera to tell their side of the story.
Ben Stephenson, Controller BBC Drama, said: "It is testament to the talented team behind Murder that it will return to BBC Two as a series. It is a truly innovative way of telling crime stories in a unique way and its BAFTA for 'Best Single' reinforces this.

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Key & Peele reposted a couple of sketches inspired by the civil rights leader, and we couldn't resist sharing them as well.
First up, Obama and Luther remark upon the importance of the day, and after that, archival footage of Pastor Robert Jones attempting to follow King's "I Have A Dream" speech. It doesn't work out.
Watch the clips and let us know how you're remembering Mlk today.

There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...

Canton, Mass. — A Massachusetts judge will hold another hearing Thursday before deciding whether to unseal testimony that Gop presidential candidate Mitt Romney gave in the divorce case of Staples founder Tom Stemberg.
Ex-wife Maureen Stemberg Sullivan appeared in court Wednesday with lawyer Gloria Allred. They said they did not object to a Boston Globe motion to lift an impoundment order on Romney's testimony in the case from the early 1990s.
Attorneys said Romney's testimony dealt with financial matters, though they did not elaborate. Staples was founded with backing from Romney's firm, Bain Capital. Stemberg has been a surrogate for Romney and spoke on the former Massachusetts governor's behalf at the Gop convention.
"You have expert testimony about an investment that a presidential candidate made," Globe attorney Jonathan Albano told Judge Jennifer Ulwick on Wednesday. He said the public has a right to know what Romney said. Allred disputed the contention...
