How 'Avengers: Infinity War' Is Selling the "End Is Near" for a Neverending Series

How 'Avengers: Infinity War' Is Selling the
It’s hard to miss the sense of finality that pervades the marketing campaign for Avengers: Infinity War. At every turn, Disney and Marvel Studios have made it clear to the audience that this is the end. This is the moment the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, launched in 2008 when Samuel L. Jackson appeared at the end of Iron Man to mention the “Avengers Initiative,” has been building toward.

As part of this big moment, the movie has also been billed as, to quote Marvel’s press materials, “the most ambitious crossover event in history.” While that claim has certainly...

Avengers: Infinity War director says “there is nobody” who can take over from Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man

As we fast approach the end of the first chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers: Infinity War and next year’s Avengers 4, it is expected that we’ll be bidding farewell to some of our favourite heroes as contracts expire, actors move on, and the landscape of the McU shifts towards some newer faces.

One of the actors who many expect to make way over the next two Avengers movies is Robert Downey Jr., who of course kickstarted the entire McU when he took on the role of Tony Stark back in 2008’s Iron Man. However, Marvel will be wasting its time trying to find a successor, at least according to Infinity War co-director Joe Russo, who believes Downey is irreplaceable.

“There is nobody who can take over Iron Man from Robert,” said Russo, who also directed the actor in Captain America: Civil War. “He can’t play the character forever.

Josh Brolin confirms Avengers scene with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel

Josh Brolin has confirmed that he is sharing a scene with Brie Larson in an upcoming Avengers movie.

Avengers: Infinity War and its companion movie, Avengers 4, are set to be such colossal events, bringing all corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together, it can be hard to keep track of which characters will be appearing and where.

Brie Larson’s yet to be debuted Captain Marvel is unlikely to be appearing in Infinity War but with that film shot back to back with Avengers 4, Brolin’s comments about sharing a scene with her indicate that the fourth movie will likely be where this takes place.

Brolin of course is playing Thanos, Infinity War’s main villain, and the actor has spoken to Total Film Magazine (via Cbm) about the scene in question:

“I thought, ‘What the fuck am I doing here?’ Because you’re in a onesie, man. You’ve

Marvel’s Avengers 4 reportedly casts a teenage Cassie Lang

If a report from That Hashtag Show is to be believed, Marvel has cast 16-year-old actress Emma Fuhrmann (Blended) in Avengers 4 as an older version of Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie Lang, played by 10-year-old Abby Ryder Fortson in Ant-Man and the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The site goes on to speculate that there are two possible scenarios for the casting: a) that the as-yet-untitled Avengers sequel takes place a number of years after Infinity War and the Ant-Man sequel, or b) that the inclusion of a teenage Cassie is down to time travel, something that has been highly speculated for the Infinity War follow-up.

It has been previously confirmed that both Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) and Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) will feature in Avengers 4, with The Wasp set to sit out Infinity War, and Ant-Man’s status in that movie unclear.

In the comic books, Cassie

Sebastian Stan Confirms Michael Douglas And Michelle Pfeiffer For Avengers 4

Marvel’s casting process continues to intrigue and delight with each passing minute – just look at the ensemble cast that’s been brought together for both Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Of course, there are a number of key actors who will likely skip the former film for its untitled sequel (and vice versa!), such as Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and the titular duo of Ant-Man and the Wasp – providing Scott Lang isn’t stowed away in the official IMAX poster for Infinity War, of course.

But there’s two other Ant-Man stars who’ve been tipped for roles in Avengers 4 – and no, sadly one of them is not Michael Peña’s Luis. Instead, we’re learning that Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp, and Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, are both booked in for an appearance of some sort in the 2019 sequel.

The Russo Brothers on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 being “two distinct movies”

Having originally been announced as a two-parter, Marvel subsequently revealed that Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel would serve as two distinct movies, something that directors Anthony and Joe Russo have been elaborating on during a promotional interview with Yahoo! Movies.

“It’s a complete story,” said Joe Russo. “It’s got a beginning, middle and an end and the next movie has a beginning, middle and an end, in the same way that Civil War handed off to Infinity War and Infinity War will hand off to the next movie. It’s serialised storytelling without question so there is going to be a correlation, narratively, but we really wanted to make two distinct movies. We weren’t interested in making one long film and getting out the scissors and cutting the scissors and cutting it in half.”

As for when we might learn the title for Avengers 4, Joe
