‘The X-Files’ 2018 Trailer: New Footage Includes Scully Kicking Ass and Mulder in a Tank Top — Watch
“The X-Files” is just five weeks away from the premiere of its eleventh season, so don’t be surprised to see more and more footage of what we might look forward to when the iconic sci-fi drama about FBI agents investigating the paranormal returns.
In the video below, stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny explain just what happened at the end of Season 10 — a cliffhanger ending that creator Chris Carter wrote without a guarantee of there being a Season 11 — before we get a quick look at footage from the season to come, including some truly creepy shots that invoke memories of the original series’ classic monster-of-the-week installments.
Beyond more glimpses of Anderson going full action hero, you very briefly see proof that the Lone Gunmen are back (in some form, at least), that the Cigarette-Smoking Man (William B. Davis) is up to no good, and that Mulder and Scully aren’t sleeping alone.

Love stories are often hard to execute on TV, because ongoing shows will try to manipulate romances for plot purposes — yet at the same time, it’s so easy to get hooked on a tale of two people finding each other. The couples featured below have undergone no shortage of strife as they forged their own unique paths, but one thing these narratives all have in common is that they illustrate the ways in which romance can be found in the most unexpected of circumstances, and how it can become the foundation of something so much bigger and profound.

On October 8, when Gillian Anderson and other stars of “The X-Files” took part in interviews before the show’s New York Comic-Con panel, the actress told Screenrant she likely wouldn’t continue after Season 11.
“I think this will be it for me,” Anderson said.
If that’s true, then this should be it for “The X-Files,” too.

There are many reasons that Scully is integral to the long-running “X-Files” franchise, ranging from narrative relevance to the thespian’s off-screen impact. Here are just a few of the most obvious factors:
“The X-Files” thrives on the yin and yang relationship between Mulder and Scully. He’s a believer, and she’s a skeptic. He pushes her to new heights, and she keeps him from drifting into space. They balance each other out, and the show needs that balance.

Love stories are common in Hollywood, with tales of first loves even more ubiquitous.
The new film Our Souls at Night, starring Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, is a romance between two characters who have both lost their first loves and are getting a second chance later in life. "It was a movie about two old people that have an extraordinary relationship, and that doesn't come along that often," Fonda told The Hollywood Reporter at the film's New York premiere at The Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday night.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return” Episode 15, “Part 15.”]
Throughout “The Return,” David Lynch and Mark Frost have paid tribute to cast and crew who have passed away since the original seasons aired — including a dedication to David Bowie in last week’s episode — but “Part 15” felt like an episode-long tribute to Catherine E. Coulson. The woman known fondly as the Log Lady and formally as Margaret Lanterman said her final goodbye near the end of Episode 15, speaking to Hawk (Michael Horse) over the phone, just as she has all season, and reminding him to “watch for that one […] the one under the moon on Blue Pine Mountain.”

This time on the podcast, David Blakeslee and Trevor Berrett discuss George Stevens’s Woman of the Year.
George Stevens’s Woman of the Year, conceived to build on the smashing comeback Katharine Hepburn had made in The Philadelphia Story, marked the beginning of the personal and professional union between Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, who would go on to make eight more films together. This tale of two newspaper reporters who wed and then discover that their careers aren’t so compatible forges a fresh and realistic vision of what marriage can be. The freewheeling but pinpoint-sharp screenplay by Ring Lardner Jr. and Michael Kanin won an Academy Award, and Hepburn received a nomination for her performance. Woman of the Year is a dazzling, funny, and rueful observation of what it takes for men and women to get along—both in the workplace and outside of it.

A World War I love story with Josh Hartnett? No, this isn’t a prequel to “Pearl Harbor” (thank the gods), it’s the trailer to the upcoming film, “The Ottoman Lieutenant.” The film, starring Hera Hilmar tells the story of a strong-willed American woman who decides to leave the United States after meeting Jude (Hartnett), an American doctor who runs a hospital within the Ottoman Empire as the first World War looms.

The fastest growing television creator has released the first trailer for season 2 of its popular romantic comedy series, “Love.” The series is created by Paul Rust, (who also stars), Lesley Arfin, and comedy mogul Judd Apatow (“Knocked Up,” “The 40-year-old Virgin”), who serves as executive producer.

Early Birchbox employee Rachel Jo Silver, who served as the company’s director of social marketing and content strategy for four years -- and helped the beauty subscription startup forge relationships with countless influencers -- is now looking to make her own mark in the digital media space with the launch of a new video platform, Love Stories TV.
Love Stories TV is aimed at millennial women and fulfills a rather specific niche by being squarely focused on wedding videos. The platform is aiming to build the largest searchable library of real-life wedding clips uploaded by brides and cinematographers the world over. Visitors are primarily coming to the site to get ideas for their own weddings, according to a release. The site also showcases wedding trends -- such as barn-inspired fetes -- and is searchable via categories like ‘Dads Who Will Make You Cry’ and ‘Weddings With Pets’.

October is one of our favourite months of the year, because we can start wearing sweaters, leaves are falling, and we can justify horror movie marathons all month long.
In theatres, however, we are getting a very interesting mix of thrills, scares, laughs, and some indie gems that caught our eye when they played the Toronto International Film Festival last month. That’s right, awards season is on the verge of beginning, and October features a couple of those highly buzzed titles. Among these are Moonlight and The Birth of a Nation, as well as some good old fun at the movies, like Tom Cruise returning as Jack Reacher, or Tom Hanks’ reprisal of Robert Langdon in Inferno.

Love stories set in a specific subculture are a hallmark of independent cinema, and for most directors the challenge is to simply find a fresh subculture that hasn’t had its inner workings drained and exploited by sundry other jndie movies or cable series. And while I won’t swear that no one else has set a romance in the world of erotic fan fiction, I can’t think of one other than Austin-based Clay Lifford’s Slash, which premieres today at SXSW. In Todd Haynes’ exquisite Carol, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara play two women in 1952 New York, who fall in love and must face prejudice and societal conventions, but most importantly must face their own notions of what they’re allowed to desire. With its overpowering beauty, both dreamlike and earthly, the film presents us with a snapshot of a time and place that make a case for Haynes being one of the greatest anthropologists in all of cinema, a filmmaker whose attention to detail is surpassed only by his humanism.
At a press conference in New York, attended by Haynes, Blanchett, Mara, screenwriter Phyllis Nagy, and co-stars Kyle Chandler, Sarah Paulson and Jake Lacy, the director commented on one of the many qualities that attracted him to tell this love story, and how it reveals “a kind of expression of intimacy that is hard to find a parallel to among gay men,...

Todd Haynes on Cate Blanchett as Carol: "Smoking is the perfect sort of conductor of desire …"
At the Carol press conference inside the Jw Marriott Essex House, on Central Park South, attended by Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Kyle Chandler, Sarah Paulson and Jake Lacy, director Todd Haynes connected smoking to Hollywood's Golden Age Cinema. We all enjoy seeing different things on screen. Some of us crave the transcendent images that only our most beloved filmmakers can conjure up. Others favor low-key, character-and-dialogue driven material that’s more immediately relatable. Some people like seeing giant robots duking it out and, for better or worse, there will always be an audience for something like “Ted 2.” But one thing we can all presumably agree on is that we all enjoy watching people fall in love on screen. Love stories have been a staple of Hollywood storytelling since the Tinseltown days, and with good reason. As cinematic spectators, we all get a vicarious thrill out of watching beautiful, more likeable surrogates of ourselves find love, lose love and then get it back again. As modern attitudes have changed, so too have our cinematic reflections of contemporary courtship. A new video collage by Rohan Gupta gives us a...

The Supergirl upfront has garnered strong reactions online, not all of it positive. Here's a response to its critics...
It's fair to say the Supergirl trailer (actually an "upfront" – a précis of the entire pilot designed to sell the show internally and to advertisers) has attracted a lot of praise. It's also attracted a lot of criticism. But how valid are those criticisms? I'll say now that none of us has any idea whether this show will actually be good or not – I think it will, based on what I've seen – but I don't know. What I do know is that some of the things people are saying about it don't seem fair.
Criticism of the trailer's rom-com influences, perceived cheesiness, comparisons to a certain Saturday Night Live sketch, and complaints that its version of Kara Zor-El isn't (we'll come back to this) a "strong female character" are all problematic,...

Love stories set in Up have found favour with Bollywood filmmakers in the last few years. Even as ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ – based in Up and shot in Lucknow – readies for release, actor-singer Himesh Reshammiya has revealed that his ‘Heeriye’ will also be shot in Kanpur and Lucknow.
While Himesh is playing the male lead in the movie, the makers have launched an innovative campaign on Twitter called #FindingHeeriye to choose the female lead in the film.
“The movie is planned in winters,” shares Himesh, who is quite happy about shooting in Up. “The subject of the movie is a love story set in Kanpur and Lucknow. So the director and the producers decided to shoot it at actual locations. This is for the first time that I am acting in a love story set in North India,” he adds.

Hindi films are known for their romance and it is one of the reasons so many people fall in love with the heroes, the heroines and the films! We asked our writers to tell us what moments in Bollywood define love or romance to them, be it a song, a line, a look, or anything that makes you sigh thinking that is Love! So for Valentine’s Day we present what we think is Romance Bollyishstyle!
The One with the Tune and the Recording
We could not pick just one scene from the great Dil Toh Pagal Hai starring Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. However, the two that stand out for our writers are:
That moment when Madhuri and Shah Rukh are in adjoining changing rooms in a clothing store, and Madhuri hears him whistle a tune. She later hears it again and knows it was meant to be!

If you were worried that the original cast from the 2001 cult hit Wet Hot American Summer would fail to return for the Netflix series of the same name, you need no longer be concerned. The whole cast is back, and we have the teaser trailer to prove it!
Netflix’s upcoming series will bring us back to Camp Firewood for some more adventures, as all our favorite cast members return. And when you look at the cast list, it’s actually quite impressive. The likes of Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler, Michael Ian Black, and Elizabeth Banks are all back for some more fun in the sun. That’s all we really know about the series, but it’s probably enough to bring a few viewers into the fold.

Joining FX Networks’ growing roster of offbeat relationship comedies is Man Seeking Woman (Wednesdays at 10:30pm Et/Pt beginning Jan. 14), a 10-episode Fxx series based on former Saturday Night Live writer Simon Rich’s collection of short stories, The Last Girlfriend on Earth: And Other Love Stories. How offbeat are we talking about? In Last Girlfriend, a story is told from the viewpoint of a condom in a teenager’s wallet. In another story, a man at a party discovers his ex-girlfriend brought Hitler as her date. Jay Baruchel (This Is the End) stars as Josh, a 20-something hopeless romantic stuck in … Continue reading →

Toronto, Canada. Fxx's new series "Man Seeking Woman" is a 2015 romantic-comedy with a very specific voice. Not to spoil too much, but it's the story of Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), a young Chicagoan who faces single life after he breaks up with long-time girlfriend Maggie (Maya Erskine) and discovers that returning to the dating pool is absurd, surreal, whimsical and occasionally sad. The main voice behind "Man Seeking Woman" comes very clearly from Simon Rich, whose listed age is 30. The son of prolific writer Frank Rich, Simon Rich has the resume of a much, much older man. He was a staff writer on "Saturday Night Live" for four years, one of the youngest ever. He's been a regular contributor to the New Yorker, a staff writer at Pixar and the author of the novels "Elliot Allagash" and "What in God's Name," plus four collections of short stories including "The Last...

Love stories - no matter how formulaic - warm our hearts. Some primal part of us wants to see people fall in love. In the short "Kismet Diner," a waitress falls for one of her patrons. The tale takes a few expected detours and ends in a very sweet way. Thanks to Gizmodo for finding this 2013 gem from the Cornetto Cupidity collection.

Vidya Balan is currently hard at work on Hamari Adhuri Kahani directed by Mohit Suri. The romantic drama also stars Emraan Hashmi, and Rajkummar Rao. Written by Mahesh Bhatt, reportedly based on real life, the film is set to release in June next year.
Apparently it was Vidya and only Vidya for the starring role in the film says director Mohit Suri and star Emraan Hashmi. In fact, we heard that the Mr. Bhatt wrote the role with her in mind and he to said the film would only be done with her in the lead role.
Talking about the film in an earlier interview, Vidya said, “All I can say is that it is an intense love story and I haven’t done a love story after Parineeta.”
Emraan Hashmi was apparently not so sure about doing the film: he told reporters, “It’s a very interesting film. It...

I’m staying current with The Vampire Diaries these days, which this season has traded in a “Big Bad” villain for a medium size villain, in the form of a local vampire hunter who somehow manages to get the drop on everyone despite an actual lack of superpowers. Rather, the main plotline of the season so far is getting Damon and Bonnie back from the dead. Bonnie helped Damon escape purgatory while she remains trapped there with a witch serial killer (for now), and Damon’s come home to realize a lot of things have changed. Namely, the show is now enduring a very, very stupid plotline where Elena went to super-vampire Alaric to compel her to forget she ever loved Damon, Eternal Sunshine style, because she couldn’t deal with her grief. Now, even with Damon back, brainwashed Elena was pretty sure she didn’t want the feelings back of loving someone she…...

Love stories featuring two people from opposite sides of the track are as old as time, but "Beyond the Lights" puts a very modern twist on the timeless tale.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw stars as Noni Jean, a rising young singer who's just won a Grammy. Nate Parker is Kaz Nicol, a hard-working cop. They meet when he saves her from a nearly fatal suicide attempt.
And though they're on completely different career paths, they can't help falling for each other. In this exclusive clip, they share a quiet moment together, away from the bright lights of the stage and the pulsing lights of police cars.
"Beyond the Lights" also stars Minnie Driver and Danny Glover, and opens in theaters November 14.

The Wonder Years
Cast: Fred Savage, Josh Saviano, Danica McKellar, Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Daniel Stern, Jason Hervey
Due Out: October 7, 2014
Who’S It For? “The Wonder Years” is timeless. Thankfully it doesn’t feel dated simply because I was a child of the ’80s trying to understand life in the late ’60s. “The Wonder Years” was my gateway drug to a nostalgia I didn’t even know. Like many of you, I grew up with Kevin. I hoped for Winnie, I had friends like Paul (and probably was Paul more than I realized).
I can’t wait to show “The Wonder Years” to my son. I’ll have to wait, because he hasn’t even turned two yet, but now I have six episodes to show him, and hopefully that will just be the beginning.

For the last hundred years or so, movies have pretty much told the exact same love story again and again. Boy meets girl, they become infatuated with one another, hijinks ensue, and after several trivial misunderstandings they fall in love and live happily after. However, as anybody over the age of sixteen can attest, love is fairly more complex and complicated than that. Life isn’t always a Meg Ryan movie.
Indeed, oftentimes love doesn’t fit into a cookie-cutter view of the world and occasionally a filmmaker will break the shackles of romantic comedy clichés to put a fresh spin on an age old story (for better or for worse). With that said, today we’ve compiled a list of film’s most odd love stories. We’ve all seen them… movie love stories that made us go “Wtf?!” rather than “awwww”. Some are doomed from the start,...

Later this month, we’ll see the release of a brand new Hellraiser comic book mini-series. This time, the series will go with an anthology format, giving us new tales in the Hellraiser universe from a variety of popular and upcoming writers. The first issue contains the start of a six-part serial written by Mark Miller and Ben Meares, where a group sets out to steal Pinhead’s pins, and I caught up with both of them for the latest installment of our Q&A series.
We’ve seen a number of limited Hellraiser comic book series from Boom! and Clive Barker. How did the idea for this anthology series come about? Was it something that you pitched to Clive?
Ben Meares: Hellraiser, in my mind, has always had a certain magic to it because the rules of the mythos can be applied to almost any kind of story.
Mark Miller: Right.

Valentine’s Day is upon us once again, that time of the year when the film studios unleash romantic comedies into our multiplexes in an effort to tug on our heart-strings and purse-strings alike.
Whether you’re single or not romantic comedies certainly aren’t everybody’s cup of tea – as a genre they’re about as formulaic as you can get, with conflicts and conclusions you can pretty much copy and paste from one movie to another. While there have been a few exceptions which elevate the style towards something more original (for instance, David O. Russell’s Silver Lining Playbook, or Hal Ashby’s delightfully dark Harold and Maude) for the most part they stick to conventions, serving up one cliche after another.
Of course, in the real world love rarely turns out like it does in the movies – at least, if those movies are romantic comedies.
