A few days ago, Fangoria ran an article on character actor Ralph Ineson, whose credits include The Witch, The First Omen, Brahms: The Boy II, The Creator, Willow, The Green Knight, and much more, naming him “a modern horror icon.” Ineson took to social media to thank Fangoria for their kind words – and in response to Ineson’s post, director Guillermo del Toro revealed that Ineson has a “pivotal cameo” in his latest film, Frankenstein! He added that Ineson is amazing and fun to work with.
Ineson responded to del Toro, saying, “Thank you Boss, your set is a joyous place to be.”
Del Toro’s Frankenstein, which is a long-awaited passion project for the filmmaker, might have the following logline: Set in Eastern Europe in the 19th Century, the story of Dr. Pretorius, who needs to track down Frankenstein’s monster- who is believed to have died in a...

Universal’s “Dark Universe” may have gone up in flames right out of the gate, but that’s not stopping other studios from (unofficially) making their own Universal Monsters mashups.
All the classic monsters unite to brawl in The Asylum’s Monster Mash, which is coming to select theaters as well as VOD outlets at home on the same day, Friday, March 29, 2024.
Who brings them all together, you ask? Michael Madsen, of course!
In Monster Mash, “A dying Dr. Frankenstein is determined to meld the world’s strongest monsters into a singular, unstoppable creation. Now the monsters—including Dracula, Werewolf, and the Invisible Man—must work together to stop him before it’s too late.”
The film will be opening theatrically in the following locations:
Laemmle – Glendale, California Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Brunswick, Ohio Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, Minnesota O Cinema – South Beach, Miami, Florida Aurora Cineplex – Roswell, Georgia

There have been a lot of great guest actors on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" over its 16 seasons, including Jason Sudeikis, Sean William Scott, Rhea Pearlman, and more, but one fairly early guest star was a special treat for fans of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." The late, great René Auberjonois starred in the season 6 episode "The Gang Gets a New Member," which sees the gang split up when Schmitty (Sudeikis) joins the gang after Dee (Kaitlin Olson) leaves to chase her dreams and Charlie (Charlie Day) feels forced out by Schmitty's antics.
"The Gang Gets a New Member" is a pretty audacious episode for the series, not only splitting up the gang but introducing numerous guest stars and putting them in zany situations. Thankfully, Auberjonois was more than capable of handling the silliness of "Sunny," and he delivered a hilarious performance that's pretty far removed from the stodgy character...

Director Guillermo del Toro is moving ahead with one of his dream projects, an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic tale Frankenstein that is set up at the Netflix streaming service. We’ve heard that Frankenstein is expected to start filming (possibly under the working title Prodigal Father) on February 12th. The production will last nearly five months, wrapping up on July 5th. Filming will take place in Ontario, Canada, and possibly in London, England as well. It looks like Canada will be the first filming location, as del Toro recently took cast members Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight), Mia Goth (Pearl), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) to eat at a Toronto restaurant, where they posed for a picture with the staff. You can take a look at the picture at the bottom of this article.

Back in March 2023, the news broke that filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was in the midst of casting a new film version of "Frankenstein" that he was slated to write and direct. At the time, it was said that Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth were set to star and that Andrew Garfield was to play the Monster. According to actor Doug Jones (who has worked with del Toro on several feature films), the director had long been at work on a "Frankenstein" movie that was meant to visually resemble Bernie Wrightson's "Frankenstein," a heavily illustrated printing of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel made by Marvel Comics back in 1983. At the time of Jones' comments, however, he was slated to play the Monster himself, as the actor commented on what "my look" would have been. That Wrightson-inspired version eventually evolved into the version mentioned above, which is being produced for Netflix.

Welcome to the Hammer Factory. This month we dissect The Mummy’s Shroud (1967).
While Hammer Studios has been in business since 1934, it was between 1955 and 1979 that it towered as one of the premier sources of edgy, gothic horror. On top of ushering the famous monsters of Universal’s horror heyday back into the public eye, resurrecting the likes of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Mummy in vivid color, the studio invited performers like Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Ingrid Pitt and so many more to step into the genre limelight. Spanning a library housing over 300 films, Hammer Studios is a key part of horror history that until recently has been far too difficult to track down.
In late 2018, Shout Factory’s Scream Factory line began to focus on bringing Hammer’s titles to disc in the US, finally making many of the studio’s underseen gems available in packages that offered great visuals...

The Telluride Film Festival has launched many Oscar Best Picture winners, from “The King’s Speech” and “Slumdog Millionaire” to “12 Years a Slave” and “Moonlight.” Oscar campaigners bring their films here to build critical reaction and positive buzz, often amplifying awareness at subsequent festivals in Toronto, New York, and London. Last year, “Tár” and “Women Talking” made it to Best Picture nominations.
This year, the film most likely to wind up in the Best Picture race is Yorgos Lanthimos’ surreal fantasy “Poor Things” (Searchlight), which premiered in Venice to rave reviews (Metascore 94) and moved on to wow Telluride crowds. Grave robbing is a lot like "The Star Wars Holiday Special," in that it's kinda neat to watch when Harrison Ford is doing it, but for the most part, nobody approves.
The bizarre act of digging up a human corpse and stealing it for unnatural purposes is the sort of thing we've grown accustomed to in movies. The image of Dr. Frankenstein kicking up the soil in search of really big corpses is pretty much burned into our brains. Grave robbing is the sort of thing villains do if the bodies are fresh, and heroes do if the bodies are really, really old — or if the body is fresh and belongs to Superman, that's probably the biggest ethical loophole.
But in real life, celebrities aren't usually known for digging up corpses for personal gain. That's the sort of thing that happens to celebrities more often than the other way around.

If you were paying attention to James Gunn and Peter Safran's presentation about the future of DC superhero movies, you may have noticed that something sounded familiar.
No, it's not the fact that we're getting new versions of movies we've already seen before, like Superman and Batman and Swamp Thing. And no, we're not even talking about how it's yet another series of gigantic promises about an interconnected universe in a modern pop culture environment that eats almost all of those up and spits them out.
In addition to all the tantalizing, puzzling, and just plain weird news about the future of DC superhero movies, there was also a curious choice for a title. This first chapter of Gunn and Safran's interconnected universe will be called "Gods and Monsters," and that's a very specific title with a very specific history connected to it.

Plot: After an accident derails their exploits in Europe, The Hunters must band back together to hunt down history’s most infamous Nazi—Adolf Hitler—who’s hiding in South America. Meanwhile, a look to the past reveals Meyer Offerman (Al Pacino) encountering a dangerous threat that could unravel his secret and expose his true identity, with explosive reverberations for our Hunters.
Review: It is rare to see a television series go out on its own terms after such a short time on the air. Despite premiering three years ago, the second season of Hunters was delayed due to Covid-19. After so many years away, the dramatic series about Nazi hunters in the 1970s returns with a vastly different sophomore season which also serves as its last. I enjoyed the first season of this pulpy exploitation thriller, but I loved the second despite it feeling like a wholly different series.

Who needs parents when you’ve got an increasingly sentient android who can cater to your every need? It’s not a question often asked, but it’s one M3GAN flippantly answers. Indeed, Blumhouse Productions’ latest satirical horror sees Chucky reborn, thanks to a toy whose sweetness is slowly subverted into something more sinister.
The Dr Frankenstein to M3GAN’s AI monster is Gemma, a gifted engineer who wants to redefine what a toy can provide for children. In what is effectively the lead role, Allison Williams holds the film together brilliantly, carrying the right amount of hubris while clearly caught on uncommon ground when forced to care for her niece, Cady (Violet McGraw). It’s no real spoiler to say that Cady is thrust into Gemma’s care due to a tragic incident, and her coping mechanism for this grief increasingly becomes the android she is effectively gifted with.

After a feast of holiday season blockbusters and late-arriving Oscar hopefuls, January is the hangover; the demonstrable dumping ground where studios cast off the dregs that didn’t work or the C-list fodder that’s used to fill in the cracks of a fiscal year report. In other words, a wide release after New Year’s Day is supposed to be a death sentence.
M3GAN defies all that conventional wisdom puffery. Hitting the screen like an Elmo-sized disruptor that’s eager to break low expectations, this intentionally campy update of the “killer doll” subgenre kicks 2023 off with a jolt of frothy horror mischief, if not necessarily high art. And as produced by filmmaker James Wan, who also provided the story and concept of M3GAN, this seems to be by design since the latest movie about a homicidal plaything fits...

"The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is the upcoming and final installment in James Gunn's trilogy of space adventures for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back in 2013, when the first official image from "Vol. 1" was released, it would not be unfair to say the general public expected very little from a movie starring a tree and a raccoon. Now, almost a decade later, the Guardians are staple of modern pop culture, not only appearing in their own projects but in most of Marvel's major crossovers events, a Disney+ miniseries, and a Christmas holiday special, too.
Despite already possessing an extensive cinematic catalogue to draw from, Gunn's "Vol. 3" is set to introduce even more obscure characters and storylines from the comics onto the screen (Gunn does love his Z-listers). The sheer amount of information you're expected to process in order to appreciate the plot is going to be ... extreme.
But that shouldn't necessarily deter you.

A couple months ago, we looked into the making of horror anthology Creepshow 2 with an episode of our Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series. Now with the new episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?, we have circled back around to the first entry in the franchise. If you’re interested in finding out what went into the making of the 1982 George A. Romero / Stephen King classic Creepshow (watch it Here), check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Romero from a screenplay by King, Creepshow has the following synopsis:
Writer Stephen King and director George Romero. Like Dr. Frankenstein and his monster or Dracula and his blood-sucking harem, this is a team to be reckoned with. King’s works – Carrie, Cujo, The Shining, Salem’s Lot, Misery and many others – make him a legend of the silver scream. And the same holds true for Romero, whose...

In “The Munsters,” the director Rob Zombie makes a game attempt to pass off his amateurishness as attitude. It’s like watching a Tim Burton film with the cheekiness turned up to 11 and the film technique dialed down to 2. Yet “The Munsters,” the family-of-ghouls ’60s sitcom that Zombie is adapting, was such a ticky-tacky piece of gothic bat-house surrealism that the movie, broad and slovenly as it is, works more than it doesn’t. The film is a lot like its hero, Herman Munster: benignly dim-witted, Day-Glo in color, top-heavy with tomfoolery, lumbering in one direction and then the next, always cracking itself up in an innocently aggressive monster-mash way.
“The Munsters” debuted in 1964, in the middle of the age of theater-of-the-absurd American sitcoms, yet the show, if anything, was less corny, less obvious, and lighter on its feet than this overstuffed update/reboot, with its Famous Monsters of...

This article contains Jurassic World Dominion spoilers.
Something has survived. That was the tagline for the first sequel to Jurassic Park, The Lost World, which was released 25 years ago. Yet it can also apply to the Jurassic franchise as a whole, as this series has survived—thrived, even—across three decades and multiple generations of casts.
And with Jurassic World Dominion now in theaters, we’ve reached the apparent culmination of the dino-action. Two eras of heroes, including Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), raptor trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), corporate executive-turned-dinosaur-rights activist Claire Reading (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Owen and Claire’s adopted and genetically engineered clone-daughter, Maisie (Isabella Sermon), have all come together to save the world from the rampaging menace of prehistoric locusts. And what a sight it is seeing all six of them standing shoulder to shoulder...
