Overwatch 2‘s ongoing beta hasn’t quite answered all of our questions about the strange sequel and whether it will bring the game closer to where it needs to be, but it has already given us a pretty good idea of which of the game’s Heroes stand out in the earliest days of the team shooter’s competitive meta.
Everyone knew that Overwatch 2‘s new and reworked Heroes were going to impact the game’s meta, but it’s actually Overwatch 2‘s reworked 5 vs. 5 format that makes the team shooter feel like a (mostly) new experience. It turns out that removing one tank from every Overwatch match really forces you to reconsider what every other Hero in the game does (or doesn’t) bring to the table.

Regé-Jean Page may not return as Simon Basset in "Bridgerton" season two, but we have a new handsome character to pine over in his absence. The Netflix show's second installment introduces Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch), an apprentice at the printing shop where Lady Whistledown prints her gossip papers. He's an intellectual, working-class man with a keen interest in women's rights, which leads him to form a bond with Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie). Though Eloise is fiercely independent and tends to avoid suitors altogether, their friendship becomes increasingly romantic, showing a softer side to her character.
Eloise and Theo first cross paths in episode two when the former stumbles upon the latter's print shop while investigating Lady Whistledown's identity, unaware that the infamous storyteller is actually her best friend, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). “Bridgerton” glided to center stage when it premiered on Netflix in late 2021, and its classical quartet covers of pop hits captivated audiences as much as they gelled with the show’s modernized Regency-era landscape. Now, Season 2 will offer more of the same, with Capitol Records set to release a soundtrack and series covers — of artists like Harry Styles and Nirvana — March 25, the same day “Bridgerton” returns to Netflix.
Under music supervisor Justin Kamps and composer Kris Bowers, Vitamin String Quartet return with reimaginings of Nirvana’s “Stay Away” and Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” after previously covering songs like Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” and Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” in Season 1.
Other covers in Season 2 include Madonna’s “Material Girl,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” and Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times,” which Kamps previously admitted was the most...

Miley Cyrus is reminiscing on her past work as the star of Disney Channel’s original series “Hannah Montana” as the show celebrates its 15th anniversary.

So far, Hannah Montana’s only tweet is a retweet of an emotional letter Miley Cyrus wrote remembering the show’s anniversary, with the snarky caption, “nice to hear from you @mileycyrus. In the two-page letter, which Cyrus wrote by hand on Hannah Montana stationary and published Wednesday morning, the “Wrecking Ball” singer remembered what it felt like to step into the role over a decade ago.

The Voice Recap: As the Knockouts Began, Two Contestants Sang What Turned Out to Be Their Swan Songs
The Voice’s coaches could feel their power slipping through their fingers in Tuesday’s kickoff of Season 19’s Knockouts. After this round is over, the fates of the contestants would be in the audience’s hands. So Blake Shelton, for one, was going to savor his last chance to “make the decisions that make the difference — whatever that means.” In his case, it meant making a boneheaded choice that might ultimately have helped significant other Gwen Stefani take another big step toward her first win as a coach. Read on, and I’ll explain how.

The blind auditions and the battles are a thing of the past, which means it’s now time for the knockouts on “The Voice.” In this round each coach pairs up two artists who’ll then perform their own songs on the big stage. One artist survives, the other is eliminated … unless a rival coach “steals” them for their own team. This year’s mega mentor was Usher, a former coach who prevailed in Season 6 with Josh Kaufman. Heading into the knockouts for Season 19, each coach had seven artists still on their teams:
Team Blake Shelton: Ben Allen, Ian Flanigan, Jim Ranger, Jus Jon, Worth the Wait, James Pyle (stolen) and Taryn Papa (saved).
Team John Legend: Bailey Rae, Cami Clune, Casmè, John Holiday, Tamara Jade, Lauren Frihauf (stolen) and Julia Cooper (saved).

Bruce Springsteen released his 20th studio album, “Letter to You,” on October 23. It’s his first time recording with the E Street Band since “High Hopes” in 2014. So what do critics think of the beloved rock musician’s latest set?

As of this writing the album has a MetaCritic score of 89 based on 16 reviews counted thus far, 15 of them positive, one of them somewhat mixed and none outright negative. One of the things that always impressed me about Bruce Springsteen is the melodic possibilities he can find in two-chord vamps. He doesn’t do it all the time, that would prove to be monotonous all night, but when he does it is a consistent affirmation of the power of rock and roll. It’s like he took every early inspiration which weaned him and plays their feel as if it were an instrument. Not the melodies, but what the melodies convey. The “stone and the gravel” in Springsteen’s voice may not be a suitable vehicle for the smooth vibratos of Drifters’ hits, but he never misses a note or what that note wants you to feel.
The new record is called Letter to You, and Springsteen’s weathered-through-rain-heat-and-gloom-of-night delivery consistently implies a range of additional tonic possibilities. And he’s got the band to back it up. His...

Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen’s new album Letter to You on Oct. 23, according to Rolling Stone. The 12-track album is the first to feature The E Street Band since High Hopes in 2014. As an introductory salutation to his 20th studio LP, Springsteen released the title-track lead single “Letter to You.”
“I love the emotional nature of ‘Letter to You,’” Springsteen said in a statement, via Rolling Stone. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”
This is the first time Springsteen has performed with the E Street Band since The River 2016 tour. The music video shows the band working in Springteen’s home studio in New Jersey.

Miley Cyrus returned to the Tonight Show stage on Thursday to perform her new single “Midnight Sky.”
But as a special treat for Jimmy Fallon and his crew, the pop star also performed a cover of Hall & Oates’ “Maneater,” which she rocked out to in a red sparkling dress. Fallon seemed absolutely delighted that Cyrus was putting her own spin on the Eighties soft-rock classic, and it’s no wonder: In Cyrus’ hands, it ends up sounding like the best Joan Jett singles.

Miley Cyrus performed a cover of Billie Eilish’s “My Future” for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge this week. Although not in the usual Live Lounge studio due to Covid-19, Cyrus and her band picked a warmly lit stage for their performance, which fit the vibe of the Eilish cover — a cross between a Seventies rock ballad and a jazzy lounge tune.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards bash was the first major Covid-era award show, which meant it had something rare for the VMAs: a reason to exist. The whole night felt like a weird experiment, with everyone figuring out how to do a glitzy music spectacle during a pandemic, with social distancing and no audience. MTV originally planned it as a live broadcast from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, but it turned into a virtual gala full of pretaped razzle-dazzle. Yet that just gave it a sense of creative risk and emotional stakes — for once,...

Miley Cyrus returned to the MTV VMAs stage as she performed "Midnight Sky" live for the first time on Sunday night. Wearing a sexy black dress, the 27-year-old singer strutted her stuff as she crooned the lyrics about letting go of past loves. Of course, one of the best moments of the performance was when she ripped off the skirt of her dress and swung on a disco ball. Anyone else getting "Wrecking Ball flashbacks? The new track, which dropped on Aug. 13, seems to chronicle her most publicized romances over the past year, as she makes references to exes Liam Hemsworth, Kaitlynn Carter, and Cody Simpson. Seeing that she performed her emotional breakup song "Slide Away" during the show last year, her latest performance about embracing the single life really brings things full-circle. Watch her incredible performance above.

No one expected this year’s MTV VMAs to be typical. The event, which usually takes place at an arena like New York’s Barclays Center, was forced to go virtual this year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, but that didn’t stop the network from trying its best to keep the spirit of a live show, well, alive.
With the challenges of mandated quarantine and social distancing guidelines affecting cities coast-to-coast, all of this year’s performers, including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Miley Cyrus, pre-recorded their performances. And while not all were taped in New York, most made a nod to the city that birthed the once-influential all-music channel back in August 1981. It was a valiant effort, with some artists pulling out all the production stops, and others falling flat.
But the night wasn’t just all about the performances – there were other noteworthy moments,...

Miley Cyrus brought her glamorous Stevie Nicks-inspired single “Midnight Sky” to the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
Hued in various primary colors, Cyrus brought the rock star swagger from the new single’s video into her VMA performance. The live take included a few new elements, including a drum fill before the chorus. The opaque colors turned Cyrus into mostly a silhouette as she writhed around the floor. As the color lifted, Cyrus recreated her “Wrecking Ball” video by riding a disco ball with a spotlight bringing her into focus.

In Netflix’s “Sing On!,” Tituss Burgess (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”) hosts a singing competition in which contestants face-off to see who can sing popular hits with the most accuracy. The eight-episode show, which has addictive “Floor Is Lava” vibes, will premiere on Sept. 16.
As Variety reported late last year before it was officially announced, the show was filmed at the Pinewood studio complex near London. “Sing On!” is the English-language version of a format created by the U.K. company Hello Dolly — versions of the show from Spain and Germany are already on Netflix.
Eliminations on “Sing On!” are based partly on science, partly in strategy. Six contestants compete against one another with a maximum prize of $60,000. During each round, prize money is tabulated by how closely the contestants match the original song — say “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus, or “Chandelier” by Sia — as measured by a “vocal analyzer.” The song lyrics are apportioned randomly,...

In a 2017 interview on Marc Maron’s Wtf podcast, Metallica’s James Hetfield discussed what compels him to channel his darker emotions into songs. “What it is, is, if I can get it out of my head, it makes it better,” he said. “Better out than in.”
That often goes for the listener, too. There’s something cathartic about hearing an artist purge their anger, grief, or frustration — or some combination of all three — in a song. As Hetfield says, that mere act of releasing the feeling from your head...
