Do two movies make a trend? Well, if so, black-and-white versions of blockbuster movies is now a thing. After George Miller brought “Mad Max: Fury Road” back to cinemas and home video in a black and chrome cut, James Mangold is doing the same with “Logan” in a version known as “Logan Noir.”
The director has dropped a trailer for the monochrome version, which gives you all the action and Johnny Cash‘s cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Hurt” which you’ve seen before, but given more moody gravitas in black-and-white.

For those of you looking forward to seeing the black and white version of Logan, the first trailer for Logan Noir has been released. This movie looks amazing in black and white! Some audiences will have the opportunity to see this version of the film on the big screen today if it's screening in your area. You can find details on the screening event below. If you aren't able to catch a big screen screening of it, it will be available on the Blu-ray when it's released on May 23rd.
The trailer features Johnny Cash’s, “Hurt”, which is the same song used in the very first trailer for the film that was released. I love the different kind of vibe that I'm getting from the black and white visuals. Enjoy the trailer!

Great Job, Internet!: Take an emotional, 17-year journey through Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine hairstyles
The new Logan is an excellent close to Hugh Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine, a beloved role from the comics that the actor rode to success beginning with 2000’s X-Men and continuing through eight prequels and sequels. Fan-favorite characters can be recipes for backlash—woe unto the poor boy tasked with playing child Boba Fett—but Hugh Jackman had the intensity and physique to fully inhabit the X-Men’s darkest, most tortured mutant.
He also had the hair. This montage (originally assembled last fall, but making the rounds now) pulls together clips from the entire gamut of Jackman-era Wolverine, and you can marvel at how he has moved from the absurd hair-curls of his early appearances to the raffish bearded badass of Logan. The whole thing is, obligatorily, set to Johnny Cash’s “Hurt.”

Oh man, Logan. Everyone’s favourite Mutant is no longer the perma-young man he once was; his healing factor is greatly diminished, he walks with a limp, his hair has turned grey and he needs reading glasses. Eking out a living as a limo driver, Logan is alone, with only a profoundly sick Charles Xavier and Stephen Merchant’s Caliban for company. The Mutants, once feared as the next step in man’s evolution, are all but extinct.
This isn’t Mark Millar’s hyper-violent dystopia, but it is a hyper-violent dystopia. Or at least, it is for Mutants. The X-Men are dead and new Mutants are no longer being born, leaving Logan, Charles and Caliban as the last of their kind. Or are they? Logan...

Chalk it up to intense cynicism, or maybe just the experience of having lived through more blockbuster springs and summers than we care to remember, but when the first “Logan” trailer premiered back in October of last year, a couple of us had our doubts. You put officially the world’s most grief-and-regret-ridden song, Johnny Cash‘s cover of “Hurt,” over a trailer for a movie about a dude with retractable metal claws and the power to self-heal while chewing on a stogie, and you’re asking for a comparison that the film surely could not sustain.

Logan, the latest and last (for now) solo Wolverine movie, was not kidding around when it opted for Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” as its trailer music. It’s not just the severity of the title, but the elegiac lyrics, and the dying man as guiding spirit / inspiration. Some trailers lie but this one spoke world-weary truth. This is exactly the kind of movie James Mangold, who also directed the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, delivers.
Wolverine’s mutation were never those iconic claws, which were a science experiment to weaponize him, but his ability to instantly heal which also slows down his aging process. The movie franchise got very silly about this, placing him in the civil war context in X-Men Origins as if the once feral Canadian hero was an immortal vampire rather than a mutant.

James Mangold is a filmmaker who has inexorable ties to the the music legend Johnny Cash. Over a decade ago in 2005, he directed the biopic Walk the Line, which led to an Oscar win from its lead actress, Reese Witherspoon. The most recent tie, of course, came in the form of the first trailer for Mangold’s latest film, Logan. The trailer was set to the dulcet tones of Cash’s cover of the song “Hurt.” This immediately set the mood for the type of film we were to get for Hugh Jackman’s last run as the Wolverine.
But believe it or not, that’s not where the connections between Cash and Logan end. Speaking with Creative Screenwriting, Mangold discussed a very real connection he made between Logan and his Cash biopic. He related it to a conversation he had with Cash. During the production of Walk the Line,...

'Logan' movie with Hugh Jackman as the mutant Wolverine: 20th Century Fox's gamble results in one of the best superhero movies. 'Logan' movie review: 'Wolverine' trilogy concluded 'in surprising and rewarding fashion' The trailer for Logan, the final film in the standalone Wolverine trilogy, is set to Johnny Cash's funereal cover of “Hurt,” the already-depressing song by Nine Inch Nails. If there was ever a warning that a superhero film was going to trudge down a grim path, that's as unsubtle an indication as you're gonna get. It's a warning worth heeding, though. Logan is a long, grave, and violent neo-Western; a Dark Knight of the soul that earns its R-rating before its first scene is complete. For audiences whose appetite for Marvel's vaguely juvenile destructo-thons has congealed into cultural obligation and drudgery, Logan is a welcome expansion of what a superhero saga can be. And even...

While the superhero genre is one that capitalizes on the age-old draw of spectacle, every now and then, you get a film that purposely underplays the action in favor of the emotion at hand. Logan, the third film in the Wolverine-centric trilogy, looks to do just that. The initial trailer was set to the Johnny Cash cover of the song “Hurt,” and the second, while still relatively low-key, it also gave audiences more of an idea of the plot.
This new Super Bowl spot is set to the song “Amazing Grace,” and while it shows a heck of a lot of action (in order to entice those watching the game, no doubt), it still manages to capture the sad and grounded tone of what we think the movie will be.

With Pirates Of The Caribbean using a Johnny Cash song in its Super Bowl trailer, Logan has turned to “Amazing Grace” for its showing at the Big Game—after using Cash’s “Hurt” in its excellent first trailer. To people who haven’t been following this film, that particular song may be a bit surprising, but we’re pretty far removed from the days of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine hanging out with the X-Men and feuding with Cyclops over Jean Grey’s heart. These days, it’s all sorrow, Professor Xavier dying, and stabbing people alongside a little girl who has the same powers as Jackman’s Logan. There’s not a ton of new stuff here, but we do get to see some glimpses of Logan’s new robot-handed villain and Xavier having what looks like a telepathic freakout, neither of which bode well for our hirsute hero.

Illegitimate children, secrets, lies, deception… The current Deadpool 2099 story sounds an awful lot like the past 30 years of The Bold and the Beautiful. Considering most comic books are really just undercover soap operas with tights, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Nonetheless, Deadpool #25 brings the Wilson family drama to a close in this double-sized issue.
So, what’s the beef? Warda Wilson – Deadpool’s daughter – is still Po’ed at her pops for refusing to tell her where her mother, Shiklah, is. She issues him the following ultimatum: bring me my mommy or I’ll unleash holy hell on Madison Star Garden. Deadpool being Deadpool doesn’t do things simply, and attempts to reason with daddy’s little princess in his own peculiar way. When that doesn’t go down well, however, he’s forced to stop her with some help from his friends and Warda’s half-sister, Ellie. But can...

Set to Johnny Cash’s haunting version of Hurt, the first trailer for Logan, what is said to be Hugh Jackman’s last outing as Wolverine, presented a darker, more somber look at the fan favourite character we’ve seen so far, promising a much more different type of super hero movie. This new trailer, while a bit more straight forward, pushes that idea even further, with Logan being a road movie of sorts with the fast healing mutant forming part of a messed up family unit, that also includes Patrick Stewarts decrepit Professor X and Dafne Keen’s X-23, his own younger, female clone. If the mis step that was X-Men: Apocalypse disappointed you, have no fear because the X-Men franchise seems to be back on track with Logan. Throughly earning it’s R-Rating with some visceral blood letting on behalf of X-23 (a character who could reach Hit-Girl...

It’s easy to bemoan the majority of trailers for giving away too much or, upon seeing the film, ending up with something far different than what was marketed. 20th Century Fox released the first “Logan” trailer back in October, but now a new Lego version of the video has made its way online. The fan made clip was created by YouTube account thebrickranger and Paradox Pictures, and while the upcoming Hugh Jackman film is set to be an R-rated adventure, the Lego version reveals a much more cuddly Wolverine.
For the most part, the Lego version is the same as the original trailer, though some substitutions have been made. Set to Johnny Cash’s “Hurt,” it features glimpses of the mutant cleaning up after a fight, meeting the young Laura Kinney, a clone of Wolverine, and Professor Charles Xavier laying on a hospital bed and in the car with Logan. The clip also includes the police car chase and the Lego Logan covered in fake blood, which looks like some sort of clay.

Sullen, lonely and tired are just some of the adjectives one would use to describe the character of Wolverine in the build-up to Logan, James Mangold’s R-rated threequel that signals Hugh Jackman’s final appearance sporting those iconic claws.
From the ongoing avalanche of black-and-white stills to the film’s arresting first teaser, one set against the sad twangs of Johnny Cash’s incomparable “Hurt,” the marketing team behind The Wolverine 3 has fostered a very particular, almost bittersweet atmosphere ahead of the movie’s March release, all of which strengthens our belief that Logan will be like unlike anything we’ve seen before in the superhero space – when it comes down to tone and style, at least.

The trailer for Logan was pretty damn powerful, especially with the footage being cut to Johnny Cash’s rendition of the song “Hurt.” Since that trailer was released, a few other superheroes have gotten their own trailers in the same style with that same song.
I’ve included three of the best ones that I’ve seen so far below. The first is a trailer for Superman called “Kent,” the second fan trailer is for Batman and is called “Wayne,” and the third one is for Iron Man and is called “Stark."
This version of “Hurt” is such a great song, and it works so well with the footage used in these trailers from the DC and Marvel films that have been. Check ‘em out!

Do you remember the first time you heard “Hallelujah?” Was it in Shrek? Maybe on a reality-singing competition show? Maybe you just heard it from a street musician somewhere and thought, “That’s a really nice song.”
It’s safe to say at this point, though, that the majority of people who’ve been touched by the song didn’t hear it from its writer, the late Leonard Cohen. Cohen’s song — like Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” vis-a-vis Johnny Cash — has become one of those rare examples of a song completely outshining its author as it’s made its way through pop culture.

Explanation of Why Wolverine Has Scars in Logan and Why Johnny Cash's "Hurt" Was Used in the Trailer
Yesterday the first trailer was released for Logan, and in case you were wondering why Wolverine has scars all over his body, James Mangold has an answer for you. As you know, Wolverine has a healing factor that isn't supposed to leave scars. Logan takes place in the year 2024, and over the years he's obviously gone through a lot of shit.
During an interview with Empire, Mangold explained that with old age come changes to the strength of his mutant abilities. He said:
“One of the things we all thought about as we worked on this film is, well, we don’t want to rebuild everything. We want to have some questions. In order to make a different Logan, and a different tone of a Wolverine movie, we felt like we couldn’t hold on to every tradition established in all the movies religiously, or we’d be trapped by the decisions made before us.

Snikt! Wolverine unleashes his devastating claws in brutal fashion in the red band trailer for James Mangold’s Logan.
It’s the second of two teaser trailers to release today – see the Sfw cut here – though this latest, R-rated snippet slices in one extra, stomach-churning scene. Presumably fending off a wave of goons to safeguard Sienna Novikov’s X-23 (Aka Laura Kinney), towards the end of the trailer we see Hugh Jackman’s jaded mutant executing the mercenary by jamming those shimmering claws into the underside of his jaw.
It’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure, but it does hint at the ways in which Mangold plans to tap into the darker tenets of the Wolverine character, which ought to neatly align with the film’s bleak tone. Desperate times, desperate measures.

We’ve heard this for a while: we’re living in a Golden Age of superhero movies. In the minds of some jaded moviegoers, however, we live in an age of oversaturation of the genre. As great as the Marvel Studios movies are, there is little denying that most of them come across as pretty samey. Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In the grand scheme of things, audiences usually want more of the same with slight differences, and Marvel Studios has been pretty great on delivering on this expectation.
That being said, I don’t want to downplay the steps Marvel Studios has taken to ensure the longevity of the genre. Yes, their films tend to be quite similar at their core in structure, tone, and overall feel (with some exceptions), but they’ve spread them out over various genres to make them a bit more different than your standard superhero flick.

Hugh Jackman looks haggard and worn down in the new trailer for Logan, which is supposedly the last movie starring the actor as the Marvel character Wolverine. "The world is not the same as it was," he intones wearily at the start of the clip. He appears to be one of the last X-Men left, living in some sort of isolated smelting plant and nearly ready to call it quits. Johnny Cash's sobering cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" plays in the background, adding to the bleakness.
But...

Update - For those wondering how R-Rated this movie would be, a U.K. trailer has come on line showing exactly that featuring some brutal claw to the head action. Just skip to 1:27 to get your dose of super hero violence. Set to Johnny Cash’s Hurt, musical shorthand for bleak and depressing, the first trailer for Logan is here, heralding Hugh Jackman’s final bow as Wolverine in fantastic fashion. Promising the darkest X-Men movie to date, it sets up a desolate future where mutants on the brink of extinction and Logan finds his healing powers lost to him effectively while heavily hinting that fan favourite X-23, a younger female clone of Wolverine and heir to the mantle, will play a big role in proceedings. I gotta say, I’m in love with this trailer. From the Western setting to the darker themes at play to the glimpses of some hard hitting action,...

Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in an older, grizzlier form for Logan. We looked at the trailer in detail...
Having endured what felt like an age of promo pictures and vague teases, it’s a big relief to say we’ve finally got a decent glimpse at Logan, the third solo Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman. And, dare we say it, it looks pretty great.

For a while now, the likes of Hugh Jackman and James Mangold have been implying that their new Wolverine movie, Logan, will be some variation on the Old Man Logan storyline. Now, in the first trailer we get a good look at Jackman’s worse-for-wear take on the character. Set to the sounds of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt,” we find Logan grizzled and cynical, proclaiming that mutants are “gone now.” But Charles Xavier—who also isn’t doing so hot—convinces him to go to the aid of a young girl. “She’s like you, very much like you,” X tells him. This would seemingly confirm a report from The Wrap that she indeed has some claws as well.
So we’ve got three generations of mutants banding together, and a vibe that resembles a drama like Hell Or High Water rather than any other X-Men movie. Logan slashes into...

"Logan... you still have time." After weeks of intriguing teases and reveals, Hugh Jackman has finally released the official teaser trailer for Logan, which, barring any unforeseen event, will be his final bow as the beloved mutant Wolverine. The trailer is set to Johnny Cash's "Hurt" and takes us through a few quick, yet intense, sequences from the James Mangold-directed feature. It doesn't reveal too much about the film's plot, but we do get a good look at the reunion between Jackman and his X-Men co-star Patrick Stewart as well as the introduction of a young girl, played by Dafne Keen, that's undoubtedly Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23. The trailer also offers brief glimpses of Donald Pierce, played by Boyd Holbrook, & his nefarious Reavers, Stephen Merchant as Caliban, and what just might be Lady Deathstrike. Wolverine is back, but he's not holding up too well. The first trailer for Logan dropped Thursday morning, and Hugh Jackman is back as one of the X-Men, but the world is a very different place. Taking place in 2024, Logan looks at a world where all mutants are seemingly dead. Wolverine is struggling to cope, he's not healing as quickly and he's drinking. But Charles Xavier finds him and asks him for a favor—to look after a young girl who is "very much like" Wolverine. Johnny Cash's "Hurt" plays over the trailer in which we see military forces track them down. Despite Wolverine's struggles, he still manages to successfully use his claws to...

In most instances of a musician re-recording another artist’s song, the best you can hope to say about the new rendition is that, well, at least it’s different. The notion that another artist can come along and genuinely improve on the original is rarely vindicated, especially when the original song isn’t total garbage.
There’s also an incredibly varied opinion among music fans as to what constitutes a song being “better,” since music is perhaps the most subjective form of entertainment. So don’t expect to see a song on this list unless it’s unequivocally considered a superior version. (Sorry to fans of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” and Muse’s “Feeling Good,” they’re amazing but not necessarily better.)
But much like Adam Sandler is destined to release a watchable movie now and again, and Chris Pratt is bound to eventually do something to knock...

Some songs are so iconic that it’s impossible to imagine someone else improving upon them. They’re so personal and specific to that artist, the very idea of another musician trying their hand at it seems laughable. But then every so often that fresh take exceeds expectations and outshines the original by a mile. So much so that people forget that it’s a cover song at all.
Johnny Cash didn’t write “Hurt,” for example, but many people reading this article right now have never heard the original version by Nine-Inch Nails. Because Cash took the song to a whole new level.
But then, that’s the beauty of a truly original cover song, if such a thing exists. For another artist to rewrite someone else’s work and take it to such heights of creativity and/or popularity that it completely overshadows the source material is not only rare,...

Shane. Dale. Lori. Merle. Andrea… Need we go on? No character on The Walking Dead is ever safe. That much has been proven. But how would the still-living cast members like to see their characters go if and when their time comes? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Ask them. So I did. Here’s how many of The Walking Dead actors see their final moments on the show.
[Note & Spoiler Alert: Some of these characters have already died in the comic book on which the show is based. A few of the actors may reference that, so if you do not want any clues as to who has died in the comic, then stop reading right now. But also keep in mind that the TV version often changes things dramatically. For instance, Hershel’s beheading at the prison actually happened to a different character in the comic that is still alive and well on the TV show. So things don’t always match up.] Okay, spoiler alert over. Now, let’s find out how the cast would like their various demises to go down. Also note that Norman Reedus kind of cheats on his answer.

Is Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" music video racist?
Not everyone is a big fan of Taylor Swift's catchy new single "Shake It Off."
The music video in particular has caused some controversy, most notably, Odd Future member Earl Sweatshirt taking to Twitter to express his opinion that Swift dressed in B-girl attire and dancing alongside twerking women is "inherently offensive and ultimately harmful" because it's "perpetuating black stereotypes."

Taylor Swift fans were bowled over this week when the singer debuted the music video for her new, previously unannounced single "Shake It Off," but fans of the format were doubly surprised by who directed it: Mark Romanek, the helmer of some of the most iconic music videos ever made, including Johnny Cash's "Hurt," Fiona Apple's "Criminal," and the Nine Inch Nails clip "Closer." These days, Romanek is more focused on feature films (his big-screen work includes One Hour Photo and Never Let Me Go, and he's currently circling The Overlook Hotel, a prequel to The Shining set up at Warner Bros.), but "Shake It Off" is the latest in a music-video resurgence for the director: After eight years away from the medium, he directed last year's Jay Z clip "Picasso Baby" and the music video for U2's big Super Bowl single "Invisible." Clearly, Romanek's busier than ever right now,...

The music video to U2's "Invisible" is out, and it may be a little sneak-peak into the band's aspirations for their next live tour. Bono's light-up, drop down mic has a big emphasis out of the black and white, shot by Mark Romanek; it's the rock band's first go-round with the director, who helmed a few little ditties including Nine Inch Nails' "Closer," Johnny Cash's "Hurt" and Michael Jackson's "Scream." So, yeah, the man loves his light. The bulb boards soar with movement behind the band and frontman Bono is able to navigate the catwalk in a sea of waving arms....

Person of Interest’s ‘Endgame’ trilogy came to a stunning close with ‘The Devil’s Share’, a great conclusion to what has so far been this season’s best set of episodes. ‘Devil’s Share’ upped the emotion exponentially as the team suffered through their grief and worked hard to capture Detective Carter’s killer in a way that would honour her memory rather than tarnish it.
There was a lot to like in this episode as it delivered great scenes and character moments. Not only that, but there are several repercussions to ponder over now that Hr is done with which will surely enforce the rest of the season. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the episode’s best moments and what they mean for Person of Interest going forward.

Someone—or, more likely, several people—at the Associated Press made an embarrassing mistake this weekend when writing up Nine Inch Nails’ headlining set at Philadelphia’s Made In America festival. The uncredited writer of the review notes that “Nin closed the night with a slow and smoky cover of Johnny Cash’s ‘Hurt,’ which earned nonstop cheers from the crowd,” including a "Yeah, Trent!" from a burly man in the audience. That’s probably an apt description, except for, you know, “Hurt” being written and originally performed by Nin, and it was Cash who did its well-received cover shortly ...

Philadelphia — Nine Inch Nails closed the second night of the "Budweiser Made In America" festival with a set that captured the audience – although the crowd was not nearly as large as Beyonce's the night before.
Trent Reznor and his band mates performed 19 songs at the Jay-z-curated festival on Philadelphia's Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Reznor didn't hold back: drenched in sweat and holding the microphone close, he sang his band's rock hits and tracks from the group's new album, "Hesitation Marks," out Tuesday.
He emerged onstage in all black while lights flashed behind him during songs like "Closer" and "Head Like a Hole." Nin went on at 9:30 p.m., minutes after DJ-producer Calvin Harris electrified at another stage with his familiar hits "We Found Love," "I Need Your Love" and others. Some concertgoers left after Harris' top-notch performance, and the crowd was not packed when Nin performed, though it filled up throughout the show.
