Helldivers 2, more often than not, is a playground for all things chaotic. Friendly fire isn’t a player’s best friend here, and if things aren’t coordinated properly, disaster strikes. Such was the fate shared by popular streamer Dr Disrespect and his squadmate TimtheTatman.
In a gameplay clip shared by him, Dr Disrespect is shown to be spectating the squadmates while landing some of the worst advice known to citizens in Helldivers 2. It’s not surprising, considering Dr Disrespect’s skills aren’t being carried over from Call of Duty.
Pulled the pin? Let go of the grenade! Staying in one place is the last thing you’d want to do in this game.
In a clip shared by Dr Disrespect on Twitter, fans and veterans can learn a lesson or two about Helldivers 2. As a wise game once put it, ‘When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.

K-pop group Seventeen have shared their latest mini-album, titled Fml. The six-track project includes two lead singles alongside unit tracks from the hip-hop team, performance team, and vocal unit of the band. Stream the album below.
The double singles, titled “F*ck My Life” and “Super,” show different sides of the thirteen-member group — “F*ck My Life” flips the acronym Fml around to encourage listeners to “fight for their lives.” “Super,” meanwhile, is an explosive, high-energy group track that is accompanied by the group’s trademark synchronization in choreography. Of the contrasting lead singles, band leader S.Coups shares, “Our new album contains both the music we want to present and the messages we want to convey.”
Notably, Fml exceeded 4.64 million pre-orders, which makes it the most pre-ordered album in K-pop history. This project is the band’s follow-up to 2022’s Face the Sun, the act’s fourth full-length album...

In the streaming era, there's no shortage of steamy, new-adult romance dramas to choose between - think: the "After" series, "Euphoria," and "Bridgerton" - so any new project entering into the genre's landscape has to set itself apart. Thankfully, Kiana Madeira, Ross Butler, and Matthew Noszka's new movie "Perfect Addiction," which hit Amazon Prime Video on April 14, succeeds at that with flying colors.
The movie follows a mixed martial arts trainer named Sienna (Madeira) who - after devoting much of her life to training and taking care of her reigning champion fighter boyfriend, Jax (Noszka) - finds out he's been cheating on her with her sister. Set on getting revenge, Sienna begins training Jax's nemesis Kayden (Butler) to beat him in the ring. But when their training sessions spark real feelings, Sienna has to figure out what's more important: her newfound feelings for Kayden or her obsession with getting back at her ex.

If you were to try and sell audiences on "Mad Max 2" in the 1980s, they would immediately dismiss the film mainly because North American audiences had no idea that there was even an original "Mad Max" film in the first place. Since so few had seen the original "Mad Max"' during its North American debut, the idea came to repackage "Mad Max 2" into a much more intriguing title. Enter: "The Road Warrior"
"The Road Warrior" would become the "Mad Max" film that would set a precedent for future "Mad Max" movies and make Mel Gibson's weary and reluctant post-apocalyptic hero one to permeate throughout pop culture at the time. Moreover, the story and ending narration propels the character of Max into one of legend.

And just like that, winter has come again. HBO Max’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by the return of the king. Or more accurately: the return of the queen … of the Seven Kingdoms.
Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21, just over three years after Game of Thrones concluded in controversial fashion with “The Iron Throne.” This new series is a prequel, depicting the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons from George R.R. Martin’s lore. When dragon fights dragon, the realm will be torn asunder. But the viewer will certainly delight in all the Targaryen action.

Award-winning journalist Jonathan M. Katz’s new book, Gangsters of Capitalism: Smedley Butler, the Marines, and the Making and Breaking of America’s Empire, is an explosive deep dive into the forgotten history of American military imperialism in the early twentieth century. At its center is one of the United States’s most fascinating yet little-known characters — Gen. Smedley Butler, a Marine who fought in nearly every U.S. overseas war in the early twentieth century. In this exclusive excerpt, Katz documents how Butler played a pivotal role in an equally little-known episode,...

Ours is an age of nostalgia. Now that the rose-tinted glasses have increasingly turned their gaze toward the 1990s — they’re literally making a “That ’90s Show,” in case you didn’t already feel old enough — “Mixtape” almost feels timely. With a pre-Y2K setting, soundtrack featuring the likes of Vitamin C and Lit, and plot revolving around an orphaned 12-year-old named Beverly (Gemma Brook Allen) tracking down the songs on a mixtape belonging to her departed parents, Valerie Weiss’ very-young-adult dramedy is also a (deep) cut above the usual tween fare.
“A mixtape is a message from the maker to the listener,” says the jaded record-store owner (Nick Thune) to whom Beverly turns for help on her whimsical mission, and you can be sure that “Mixtape” abounds in similar pearls of wisdom. For the most part though, the film’s inherent sweetness keeps such lines from eliciting eye rolls...

The story of the congenitally amputated Nick Newell reconstructs the fights efficiently but overrides his real struggles with a sub-Rocky storyline
This mixed martial arts-based flick goes one further than kung-fu classic One-Armed Swordsman in being based on real events: the improbable rise of “Notorious” Nick Newell, who had a congenital amputation of the left arm, to his winning the Xtreme Fighting Championship (Xfc) belt in 2012. Cody Christian, a little digital shimmer occasionally showing on his VFX-severed limb, puts in a committed shift as Newell in a brisk biopic that is a bit over-planed but can hardly fail to inspire.
Encouraged by his mother, Stacey (Elisabeth Röhm), Newell joins his school wrestling squad, where he is nicknamed “Elbow” by students high on the douchebag scale. But it is only when bosom buddy Abi (Cameron James Matthews) is killed in a motorbike accident, while the pair are battling through local Mma qualifying rounds,...

Cineville has attached writer-director Dito Montiel to the independent dramatic thriller “Afterward,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Production is planned to start in the spring of 2019. Producers are Thomas D. Adelman, production manager on “The Usual Suspects”; Elizabeth Gast Napolitano; Frederic Demey (“Female Fight Squad”) and Carl Colpaert.
The story centers on a father’s struggle to deal with the passing of his daughter, which leads him on a quest for truth and justice against corruption and small town politics.
Montiel made his feature directorial debut on 2006’s “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,” followed by “Fighting,” “The Son of No One,” “Empire State,” “Boulevard,” “Man Down,” and “The Clapper.”
“I’m excited to have Cineville behind me as we guide ‘Afterward’ into production,” he said. “While I’m hardly said to have a particular style or type of film I gravitate towards, ‘Afterward’ represents a challenging change of direction and a personal project for me,...

"Who is The Clapper?" Momentum Pictures has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled The Clapper, the latest from director Dito Montiel (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Fighting, The Son of No One, Man Down). The Clapper is about a man, played by Ed Helms, who enjoys his job to be paid to fill seats in infomercial audiences. But when a talk late night TV talk show host discovers and makes fun of him, his whole life gets turned upside-down. Very weird concept for a film, but this trailer actually makes it look kind of amusing, with a sweet side. The cast includes Amanda Seyfried, Tracy Morgan, P.J. Byrne, Charles Halford, and Leah Remini. This probably isn't what you're expecting, but doesn't look too bad. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Dito Montiel's The Clapper, direct from YouTube: Eddie is a guy who gets paid...

It's finally here! The Labour Day weekend isn't really the end of summer, but it certainly feels that way. Maybe it's the residual instinct ingrained in us after years of elementary and high school, when summertime meant freedom from school for a full two months and September meant the end of all that and the return to teachers, books, and (ugh) homework.
No matter how you feel about the holiday, there's still lots of ways to squeeze the most fun possible out of your extra day off! And what better way to while away an afternoon than with a movie at a Cineplex theatre. Without further ado, here's our recommendations for what to see in theatres this long weekend!

“Idiotsitter” is built on a simple concept. Its humor is loud, profane, and easy to understand. The Comedy Central series is captured in classic single-cam fashion, and runs at traditional 22-minute clips (sans commercials).
With only the above in mind, it would be easy to lump Jillian Bell and Charlotte Newhouse’s creation in with a number of other shows matching the above criteria.
But that would be wrong. That would be reductive, 12 episodes in, to the series’ overall impact. That wouldn’t encompass its joyous spirit, addictive charms, or detail-oriented approach to a classic narrative.
That would ignore the fact that “Idiotsitter” is very, very, very funny.
The simple concept Bell and Newhouse execute so well — as writers and actors — is an odd couple pairing. Billie (Newhouse) is a Type-a goodie-two-shoes harboring an inner wild child who doesn’t quite know how to walk yet. Gene (Bell) is a...

The Clapper tells the story of Eddie Krumble, a professional audience clapper in a talk show who loses his job and reevaluates his life. The film stars Ed Helms, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Peters, Tracy Morgan, Alan Thicke (his last film), Brenda Vaccaro, Pj Byrne, and more. Dito Montiel directed the film as well as writing the screenplay, based off his novel, Eddie Krumble is the Clapper.
We got an exclusive sit down with both Montiel and Peters at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere on April 23. Read our interview below and be sure to check back for video interviews with Tracy Morgan, Brenda Vaccaro, and Russell Peters.
What was it like working with Tracy after Son of No One?
Dito: We stayed friends and the accident was of course terrifying and I was sure that he would die. Just hearing about how terrible it was.

The question "why do people do the same things over and over again?" has captivated philosophers, anthropologists, economists and psychologists for centuries, while our favorite brands become endurable, resonating with popular characters and the allure of a new world to escape into:

The last time we checked in with Thor, the hammer-wielding hero helpfully answered the question on everyone’s mind: While we know the rest of his Avengers team was battling it out in “Captain America: Civil War,” what was the Asgardian God of thunder up to? In a short released last summer called “While You Were Fighting: A Thor Mockumentary,” directed by Taika Waititi, who is also at the helm of the upcoming “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor invited the world into his new home in Australia where he lives with his long-suffering roommate Darryl. He dubbed them Team Thor, and thus a new iconic Marvel duo was born.
Now, a follow-up to the short has been released, along with the promise of more of Thor’s Earthly adventures on the Blu-ray edition of McU entry “Doctor Strange,” which hits shelves on February 28.

At some point Channing Tatum went from man-candy (what? It's been said) to movie star. His star rose when Step Up stole the hearts of romantic comedy lovers that had waited too long for a new dance film. Seemed like Save The Last Dance had been decades before, despite the fact it actually released only five years prior. But, let's take a look back at Channing's filmography and see exactly where Tatum became something more.

Sometimes the only possible way to guarantee safety during difficult situations is to ally with the unlikeliest of accomplices. That’s certainly true for Brittany Snow’s character in the upcoming action movie, ‘Bushwick,’ as she’s forced to rely on an ex-Marine corpsman, who’s apprehensive about helping her secure her survival. In conjunction with the recent announcement that the drama will have its World Premiere at next month’s Sundance Film Festival, three new images from the movie have been released. Nick Damici and Graham Reznick co-penned the script for ‘Bushwick,’ which was directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott. In addition to Snow, the adventure film also features Dave Bautista, Angelic Zambrana, [ Read More ]

The low-wattage, high-concept psychological drama Man Down is too misbegotten to be rescued by Shia Labeouf’s Method lead performance; in fact, the most interesting thing about it is his masochistic commitment to the film. Directed and co-written by the once promising Dito Montiel (Fighting), the movie sloppily juggles three narrative lines: one that follows a Marine named Gabriel Drummer (Labeouf) from boot camp to Afghanistan and back; another set at an afternoon session with a military therapist (Gary Oldman); and a third that takes place in a post-apocalyptic future, where Drummer and his best friend, Devin (Jai Courtney), wander an America that has been overrun by Islamist militants following a chemical attack that killed most of the population. There are a couple of easy-to-guess twists to this, but all they do is turn a bad movie into, well, a different kind of bad movie.

Writer/director Dito Montiel broke out with “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints” a decade ago, but ever since, he’s struggled to inspire the same acclaim. This state of affairs is certainly not due to lack of talent who have signed up to work with him, including folks like Al Pacino and Juliette Binoche in “The Son Of No One,” Channing Tatum for multiple film (‘Saints,’ ‘No One,’ and “Fighting“) and even Dwayne Johnson (“Empire State“).

Looking ahead to the movies heading to cinemas in time for Christmas...
The festive season is a great time to go to the pictures. There’s nothing quite like taking solace when it’s cold outside by cramming in with some like-minded folk to see a (hopefully) great movie.
Unsurprisingly, Hollywood studios have cottoned on to this. Year on year, there seems to more and more choice at the cinema come Christmas time. It’s almost like a second summer season, in terms of the sheer volume of major movies on offer. This isn’t likely to change any time soon, especially when you look at the cash banked by Star Wars: The Force Awakens last Christmas. And that's not to mention the festive season's nearness to the Oscar race, which means that the major movies keep coming well into January.

About a month ago it was reported that Elton John was in talks to join Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The legendary musician has just confirmed that he has officially joined the project, and he released the a teaser poster with the caption:
“Wednesday night’s alright for fighting.”
For those of you who don’t know, this is a parody John’s song “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.” Then of course, it features a pair of his trademark sunglasses. John writes in the post:
“It’s been a long time since Tommy…”
Tommy was the last feature film that John actually acted in, and that was released back in 1975. So it certainly has been a long time.
John will join the previously-cast Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and, judging by the first teaser poster we saw for the film,...
