A show like Doctor Who sometimes needs to do the unexpected, and that is what Doctor Who: 9×12 – Hell Bent does. What I think I will call this episode is “fan service” because that is exactly what it is, in all the right ways
Continuing from Heaven Sent The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is now on Gallifrey and ready to take on the Time Lords for their actions. The question is, who has the upper hand in the situation…The Timelords, or a very angry Doctor?
For a lot of this episode you may be confused as to where it is leading, but that is okay. Just go with the flow and let it lead you to the end. We see some characters return, and finally get a good taste of Gallifrey, but most importantly Peter Capaldi once again flexes his acting muscles in all the right ways.

Tom Hooper's "The Danish Girl" had its world premiere at the Venice film festival on Saturday and rave reviews establish last year's Best Actor champ Eddie Redmayne as a strong contender to become the sixth performer to win back-to-back Oscars. He plays artist Einar Wegener, one of the world’s first sex-change patients, who became Lili Elbe in the 1920s. Among the rest of the cast, Alicia Vikander is a stand-out as Wegener's wife Gerda as is Ben Whishaw as a would-be suitor to Lili. -Break- British playwright Lucinda Coxon ("Happy Now?") adapted David Ebershoff’s 2000 novel of the same name. For her work bringing Michael Farber's sweeping period novel "The Crimson Petal and the White" to television, she earned both BAFTA and Royal Television Society nominations. The lavish production design of "The Danish Girl" is by Eve St...

Ryan Adams covered Bryan Adams' hit "Summer of '69." Are You Happy Now, You Monsters? Some real comedians think that yelling "Summer of '69" (and the occasional "Cuts Like A Knife," touché comrades) during a Ryan Adams show makes them clever, because Ryan sounds like Bryan. Ryan Sounds Like Bryan. Ryan Adams has infamously gotten bent outta shape when this happens, at one point ejecting a fan from one of his shows because of this very hilarious joke. I get it. That's like having always tolerate dudes who shout "Free Bird" multiple times in a concert because nobody laughed the first time that they did it and their infinite cleverness ought warrant a finer laurels of pure laughter. Or at least requires non-Lynyrd Skynyrd band to actually perform Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird." Adams, The Bryan Variety was actually my first concert ever, I was 11. Adams, The Ryan...

After leaving Geillis to an undetermined fate last week — those judges seemed to draw the line at burning a pregnant woman at the stake — and Claire finally confessing her dark secret, everything has changed for the Frasers. In a time before highways and interconnected police precincts, making a break for Lallybroch was basically the same as hiding out on the moon. Time to find out what adventures await our heroes at Jamie’s childhood home! ****** Before anything else, it just needs to be said. The Scottish Highlands are gorgeous. These aerial shots of lush greenery are one Fellowship away from Middle Earth. I’m also astounded once again how anyone traveled anywhere in 18th century Scotland. The Romans never made it this far and without the remnants of their paved thoroughfares, roads are little more than a suggestion. Claire also longs for a time when horsepower wasn’t literal, regaling Jamie with stories of airplanes.

Teresa Wright and Matt Damon in 'The Rainmaker' Teresa Wright: From Marlon Brando to Matt Damon (See preceding post: "Teresa Wright vs. Samuel Goldwyn: Nasty Falling Out.") "I'd rather have luck than brains!" Teresa Wright was quoted as saying in the early 1950s. That's understandable, considering her post-Samuel Goldwyn choice of movie roles, some of which may have seemed promising on paper.[1] Wright was Marlon Brando's first Hollywood leading lady, but that didn't help her to bounce back following the very public spat with her former boss. After all, The Men was released before Elia Kazan's film version of A Streetcar Named Desire turned Brando into a major international star. Chances are that good film offers were scarce. After Wright's brief 1950 comeback, for the third time in less than a decade she would be gone from the big screen for more than a year.

It was recently announced BBC Three won't be renewing its respected zombie drama In the Flesh, which means it has the misfortune of ending on an unresolved cliffhanger.

I'm about to say something that's bound to ruffle a few feathers. I'm going to be dismissive of sharks. And I'm going to do it on the internet. Telling the internet that you're bored with sharks is madness. It's like telling the internet that you're bored with cat gifs, or ironic moustaches, or pretending that everything is either much more or much less sexist than it actually is. It's asking for trouble.
And yet, now that the Syfy channel is making a TV movie about an avalanche full of sharks, this must be said. To use the parlance of this publication, I'm worried we may be reaching "peak shark".

Poor Kristen! While doing her best to stay busy filming her new movie, ‘Sils Maria’ in Germany, she’s reportedly having a hard time moving on from Rob because she’s hearing about him so much in magazines!
Kristen Stewart may be leaning on co-stars of her new movie to stay in good spirits, but hearing about Robert Pattinson‘s new romances are really hurting her, according to a new report.
Kristen Stewart Broke Down After Reading Robert Pattinson Interview
“She’s traumatized by it,” a source told Ok! magazine.. “Every time she reads about him with a new girl, she goes into meltdown mode. But reading his new interview, where he’s definitely on the hunt for love, has tipped her over the edge.”
The interview she’s referring to is when Rob spoke with Harper’s Bazzar Arabia, and was asked exactly what he was looking for in a woman.

Ten years is a long time. Need proof? How about the fact that in 2003, people were listening to -- and enjoying -- songs by Lumidee and Wayne Wonder that not only sounded exactly the same, but were also horrible. Fortunately the rest of the year's offerings were more acceptable and lasting. To wit: "Crazy In Love" and "In Da Club" would rank as the best singles released in 2013 -- apologies to Daft Punk, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars and the rest of this year's artists reaching into the 1970s to find the next great pop hit.
Ahead, the 32 songs you loved in 2003.
1. Beyonce, "Crazy in Love"
2. The Black Eyed Peas, "Where Is The Love?"
3. Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"
4. Fall Out Boy, "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy"
5. Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"
6. Simple Plan, "Addicted"
7. Kym Marsh, "Come On Over"
8. S Club 8, "Fool No More"
9. Lil Kim feat.

So in 2010 there was a film called Grown Ups, with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider. We gave it one star, but it made north of $270m anyway. Why does nobody ever listen? Box office of more than triple your budget - especially when it was quite a high budget, considering - pretty much guarantees you a sequel, and here we have Grown Ups 2. Here's what you bought with all your Grown Ups tickets. Happy now? Happy? This is the international trailer, not to be confused with the domestic one from a month or so ago. If you care to play spot the difference, please go right ahead. This one makes clear that Grown Ups 2 has replaced the water park with small-town America, but that it's otherwise business as usual (minus Schneider: it seems he couldn't do it). What that means is there's some gross-out stuff,...

All-male dance group The Glambassadors perform in black and white outfits on this evening's Britain's Got Talent.
David Walliams is taken with them immediately, announcing his support before they even begin their act.
"Love it already," the Little Britain comedian declares as they prepare to dance.
However, after the troupe have performed an energetic routine to Alesha Dixon song 'The Boy Does Nothing', Walliams does come up with one criticism.
Turning to a dancer who has his chest exposed by his revealing top, Walliams jokingly says: "[It was] distracting seeing your nipples throughout the whole thing. I have to say - there was a part of me that wanted to tweak them."
Later, as the group chat to Ant & Dec backstage, Walliams decides to act on his desire, taking hold of the dancer's nipples.
"I just needed to do something, I was quite distracted whilst I was watching the performance," he explains.

Last night’s Super Bowl was the fiercest, darkest sporting event of the year.
Also, for a few brief moments, the Bunk-est.
Actor Wendell Pierce took to Twitter to talk about the big game — and tweeted from the perspective of Bunk, the eye-rolling, good-hearted, foul-mouthed detective he played on HBO’s The Wire (the show that made America fascinated and repulsed by Baltimore institutionalism).
The tweets, which mixed quotes with exclamatory ad-libbing, were a welcome reminder of the show, and a shot to the heart of its fans (like me) who are still trying to get our friends to watch it.

"The Voice" kicked off part one of the finale with a touching tribute to the victims of the Newtown shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Contestants on The Voice already have the talent, but to make it to the top, they need the perfect song. On Monday night's show, Coach Cee Lo Green anticipated that at this point in the competition, song choice would be the ultimate factor in determining the next star. Now, hear from the competitors themselves:
Team Blake . Terry McDermott sang Blake Shelton's "Over"
"Me and Blake went back and forth and I'd said I wanted to do something different," he said of the song choice. "He suggested his song – and the second I heard it I was like, "That's it!

On Monday's episode of "The Voice," fan favorite Cassadee Pope performed "Are You Happy Now," a Michelle Branch song. It brought back some not-so-fond memories for coach Adam Levine.
"I remember we opened for her at the Roxy, and they didn't even give us a dressing room. I hate the Roxy. I'll never play there again," he said. Later, he added, "Oh, the Roxy is horrible. Don't ever go there. They screwed us over, and now they're paying for it."
The Roxy, a music venue in Los Angeles, responded in the best way possible. They left a note for Adam on their marquee for all of La to read: "Adam Levine Your Dressing Room Is Ready." (See photo)
Branch even stuck up for the club, telling THR that it was her contract, not the club, that left Maroon 5 dressing roomless. "I'm sure it wasn't the Roxy's fault," she says.

The top eight singers took the stage on last night’s The Voice in an attempt to convince viewers they should be voted through to the top six. After the show, the competitors talked with theTVaddict.com about their performances, how they spent the holidays, and what it feels like after losing Sylvia Yacoub and Bryan Keith last week. After the jump are the video interviews and thoughts on last night’s episode.
Amanda Brown
Amanda performed Adele’s “Someone Like You,” which was an interesting choice as Amanda was previously Adele’s backup singer. The song is typically understated and focuses more on the intensity of Adele’s voice and the emotion it conveys. Amanda put her own touches and transformed it into a rock song. Amanda’s voice was flawless, but the rock element stripped away a lot of the emotion of the original version.

Last night's showdown round between the final eight contestants of Season Three of The Voice was intense. With so much in the balance and still some truly middle-of-the-road performances, it seems to be anyone's guess whom America will keep and who will be sent packing tonight. This week's chills-inducing moment came thanks to Amanda Brown, who charted in the Top 10 on iTunes last week. Monday night she did a rocked up version of Adele's "Someone Like You," turning it into a triumphant power ballad. Singing a song that everyone is...

This week the Top 8 took the stage on "The Voice": Team Christina's one contestant, Dez Duron; Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott of Team Blake; Team Cee Lo's three contestants, Cody Belew, Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte, still hanging in; and Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown keeping Team Adam going.
After a performance from coadge Adam Levine and 50 Cent of their new song "My Life" with Eminem, there was some Adele, pigtail braids, foot tambourines, some piano climbing, fog machines, some Justin Bieber and one of the most absurd things we've ever heard on "The Voice." Thanks, Christina Milian.
Now, onto the performances.

During rehearsals, Amanda Brown informs us that until recently, she has always lived with her parents or significant others. She has moved into an apartment by herself and is finally supporting herself financially all by herself for the first time in her life.

Everyone and their brother, including yours truly, was touting last week's The Voice as its best episode ever. But this installment may have featured even better performances.
Sure, there was way too much filler, as the show managed to spread eight solo performances out over two hours, but not a single contestant made me want to throw something at my TV. That's not something that could have been said last Monday.
If you don't come for the singing, you could always come for Carson Daly's quips, like "I was watching Terry and his wife make out. That's good TV." It's hard to imagine that I thought he was a terrible host in season one. Carson is a joy to watch.
Now for the actual reason that we all tune in every week: The Voice's Top 8 were on display Monday night, and a large number of them performed extremely well.

The Voice‘s all-star coaches are, generally speaking, a gentle, encouraging, and decidedly articulate bunch. And if you perused a transcript of their comments from tonight’s telecast, you’d probably think it was business as usual on Season 3 Top 8 performance night.
But tone of voice, facial expression, body language, coded wordplay…sometimes they tell a different story. And with only eight singers left in the competition, the subtext was often as poorly hidden as Christina Aguilera’s décolletage.
There was Xtina herself practically sighing and rolling her eyes while telling the incredible Amanda Brown she’d given “another really dynamic and powerful performance.

Between the eagerly anticipated season finales of Game of Thrones and Mad Men and the series premieres of Bunheads and The Newsroom, the season two finale of The Killing, in which the killer of Rosie Larsen was finally revealed, came and went with considerably less fanfare than its controversial season one closer, and the show now faces an uncertain future as AMC’s only scripted series that has yet to be renewed.
The murder mystery was initially greeted with great critical acclaim, but, by the time season two came to a close last Sunday night, many pundits had already stopped tuning in, and, of those who hadn’t, few were entirely enthusiastic about the way things had panned out.
In the finale, which was entitled “What I Know” and written by Dan Nowak and The Killing creator Veena Sud, we learned that — spoiler alert — Jaime was, as...

And the next stop on the Ghostbusters 3 merry-go round of bullshit? Dan Aykroyd addresses rumors of Bill Murray shredding the script and of course more of the same lip service. Read on if you care. We're really starting not to.
In an interview with Empire Aykroyd dropped the following on fans:
"Bill Murray is not capable of such behavior. This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear, and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work. The script must be perfect. We cannot release a film that is any less than that. We have more work to do. Not blown away by that official image of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” that the studio released last month, though it seems way, way longer? No worries, then, here’s your first full (unofficial) look at Hathaway in full Catwoman costume, cat ears included. Happy now? No? Tough cookies. Potential Spoilers Below Also on hand are Christian Bale in full Batman costume and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. It looks like the trio are meeting in an alley. A secret meeting, perhaps? Has Batman gotten a new ally? Well, at least Catwoman hasn’t clawed his eyes out yet… “The Dark Knight Rises” is still shooting in Los Angeles, doubling for Gotham City. Hey, it’s no stranger than Pittsburgh doubling for Gotham City. The Nolan-directed film also stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence,...

Will Young has unveiled a track from his new album Echoes exclusively on Digital Spy. The singer describes the song, called 'Happy Now', as one about accepting yourself and embracing the wisdom that comes with age. "It's about not hanging on to things that have happened, because I think if you do it shows in your demeanour," he said. "It's about releasing that and just feeling quite content being in my 30s and thinking, 'Actually, it's okay, I don't mind the wrinkles; I'll forego the wrinkles for some wisdom!'" (more)...

Something tragic is coming to Bon Temps. Everything about the show tells me that someone is going to be biting the big one … Although it presumably won’t be till episode 12. I’ve just checked and that episode will be called “And When I Die”, so that would seem to confirm my theory.
See, a lot of the characters are heading on a self-destructive trajectory. So, whilst neither the vamps nor the witches might be responsible, I’m thinking that someone from the opening credits is going to wave bye-bye.
They’re certainly preparing us for that with last week’s cliff-hanger … Which is dispensed with in a matter of seconds. No surprises, but it’s still a pretty-good first indication of the way things are going.
We get an indication that trouble is brewing early on when the local werewolf Alpha, Marcus, informs his pack...

The first signs of mutiny aboard the U.S.S. American Idol surfaced during Wednesday night’s Top 8 performance telecast, and not a moment too soon. As the Season 10 contestants tackled “Songs from the Movies,” James Durbin and Casey Abrams stood up and said “no” to Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and his wacky cartoon sidekick, choosing instead to forge their own imperfect paths in the competition. Whether or not their singular visions were successful, or whether they’ll lead to quick exits or carry them all the way to the Nokia at the end of May, is almost irrelevant at this point.

Robbie Williams has taken up painting.
The singer has discovered his love of art since rejoining Take That last July, and has been spending his spare time when he's not busy with his bandmates, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange, creating his own canvases.
He wrote on his blog, "Hi all, I know it's been ages since you have heard anything from me. I have been flying round the world on promo with the Tt (Take That) lads and loving it ... amazing. In our down time ... which hasn't been much, i found I really liked painting - of course I then had to turn my whole garage into 'art club' and got all my la mates into it too. (sic)"
Robbie, 37, has big plans for his paintings, and is considering turning his creations into T-shirts.

So after they greatly disappointed us with their live performance of new single Happy Now, Take That made it up to us downhearted fans with their hilarious Fake That sketch.
In the video comics Alan Carr, Catherine Tate, James Corden, John Bishop and David Walliams became Fake That and were seen taking to the stage for a tribute band audition, with none other than the real band sitting behind the judges table.
They dressed in Pvc, emulating the iconic ‘Do What You Like’ video, and also in rowers gear as the boys did in The Flood.
Our favourite star? Catherine Tate by a mile! Except maybe she would have been better suited to playing Gary where she could have passed her breasts off as moobs….

Rue McClanahan, the veteran actress who won an Emmy for playing the saucy Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on "The Golden Girls," died early Thursday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital of a stroke. She was 76.
She had undergone treatment for breast cancer in 1997 and later lectured to cancer support groups on "aging gracefully." She had heart bypass surgery last year.
"Golden Girls" ran from 1985-92 on NBC and was a hit from the beginning, starting off at No. 1 in the Nielsens. The foursome -- which also included Bea Arthur, Betty White and Estelle Getty -- delighted audiences.
McClanahan earned four Emmy noms for "Golden Girls," winning in 1987. She also was nominated for three Golden Globes for her performance as the sex-crazed Blanche.
She also played Blanche in three other series: one episode each of "Nurses" and "Empty Nest" -- both of which preceded "Golden Girls" -- and as a regular on "The Golden Palace,...
