Netflix’s small-town romance “Virgin River” is back for a new season that’s set to finally send Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) down the aisle while taking audiences back in time to the Virgin River of the 1970s, when Mel’s mother and her biological father fell in love.

Adam Sandler is teaming up with his Uncut Gems director Josh Safdie on a new comedy special for Netflix.

The project is the second comedy special from Sandler and the streamer following 2018’s 100% Fresh, directed by Steven Brill with contributions from Paul Thomas Anderson, the latter of which directed Sandler in Punch-Drunk Love.

Murder Mystery star Adam Sandler sent his congratulations to a talented young golfer, Happy Gilmore, who shares the same name as his character in the 1996 comedy film.

After real-life Happy Gilmore announced that he has officially committed to Ball State University for his academic and golf career, Sandler took to Twitter to express his support to the high school senior. Gilmore, whose actual name is Landon, received the nickname "Happy" when he began playing in golf tournaments at a young age. You always know what you're going to get with Butler, that steady level of grimacing B-movie badness, and he's never going to suddenly wrong-foot you with an Oscar-worthy performance before going back to stabbing people to death with pencils.

The Loud House characters are ready to star in their own series on Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon’s The Loud House is getting a spinoff.

Titled The Casagrandes, the animated series follows Ronnie Anne, an 11-year-old girl who moves to the city with her mom and older brother to live with their extended multigenerational Mexican-American family.

The series will reintroduce characters first seen in the 2017 special, “The Loudest Mission: Relative Chaos.” The characters have since appeared in other episodes of The Loud House. Animated spinoffs are new territory for Nickelodeon. Earlier this year, the network announced that potential spinoffs of SpongeBob SquarePants are in development. The Loud House has been a hit for the network. In addition to the spinoff series, a movie version of The Loud House is in development and will stream on Netflix.

New titles available on Amazon Prime next month include Amazon original series like “Six Dreams” Season 1, the second half of “Wishenproof” Season 2, “Pete the Cat” Season 1, “Forever” Season 1 and “King Lear” Season 1.

Some classic comedies will also become available in September, like the original “Ghostbusters,” “Jerry Maguire,” and “Smokey and the Bandit.” In more of a dramatic mood as the weather shifts? Dramas like “Sleepless in Seattle” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan should do the trick.

Beat the back-to-school blues with new movie titles like “13 Going on 30” and “Sixteen Candles” hitting Hulu on Sept. 1, as well as new and favorite fall TV series.

The Hulu original series “The First,” starring Sean Penn and Natascha McElhone, is about a group of astronauts attempting to be the first humans on Mars. It premieres on Sept. 14, and new episodes of Sarah Silverman’s “I Love You, America” will arrive on Sept. 6.

Fall TV also arrives next month, and you’ll be able to watch premieres of network hits like “This Is Us” on Sept. 26, “9-1-1” on Sept. 24 and “Grey’s Anatomy” on Sept. 28. Not so funny for Universal

Despite rapid-fire penis jokes, a third act collapse and a rather melancholy theme, spit-wad shooter and sometime director Judd Apatow’s latest tour de fart, Funny People, landed at the No.1 position with an estimated $23.4 million.

Starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, Funny People still has some room to grow if it wants to catch its astounding $75-$100 million budget during its theatrical run. (See, that’s what happens when you have Paul Reiser stop by for a cameo. The payroll goes through the roof.) Look at the studio projections (low-$20 million to the mid-$30 million) and Universal may have been gambling on Funny People having a Hangover-like run. Time will tell.

This also marks Sandler’s worst comedy debut since 2000’s Little Nicky. Yet compared to the Happy Gilmore star’s more serious films (Punch-Drunk Love, Spanglish… Going Overboard), Funny People was a weiner winner.

One of the great features over at the Internet Movie Database is the Bottom 100. Based on ratings viewers of the site give to various films, the worst of the worst films get put on this list. Some of them are on and off in a matter of days. Others stick around for the long haul, showing just how much suckage they truly emit.
