Adam Sandler isn’t an actor that the audience associates with the Oscars, and surprisingly, his only Oscar-nominated movie to date is a comedy with 34% on Rotten Tomatoes. Adam Sandler is one of the most popular comedy actors of his generation, as well as one of the most profitable ones, even if many of his movies aren’t critical hits. Sandler’s acting career began on television when he played Smitty in The Cosby Show in 1987, while his film debut arrived in 1989 in the comedy Going Overboard. The following year, Sandler joined the cast of Saturday Night Live.
Sandler’s break arrived in 1995 with the comedy Billy Madison, and since then, he has appeared in a variety of comedies, some more successful than others. However, Sandler has also taken the time to explore other genres in his career, leaning more towards drama in movies like Punch-Drunk Love and Spanglish and...

The cast of Pixels includes several well-known Hollywood actors, as well as many supporting roles and fun cameos from the world of film, TV, and gaming. Despite not being considered one of Adam Sandler's best-ranked movies, Pixels certainly includes a fun premise. It tells the story of extraterrestrial invaders of Earth who once found a video game-infused time capsule in space and mistook it as a declaration of war. In another Adam Sandler and Kevin James collaboration, the main cast of Pixels use their video game expertise to repel this alien invasion that comes in the form of game characters.
Due to this unique premise, Pixels can almost be counted as a video game adaptation movie. Although it is not based on any one game and does not include a storyline found in a video game like Detective Pikachu, Warcraft, Sonic the Hedgehog, or Mortal Kombat of late, it...

Virgin River fans have been waiting for any news and updates about the upcoming new season of their favorite show, and series leading star Alexandra Breckenridge will always offer any details she can. However, this time, she can't share the full update she's keeping secret: the Virgin River season 6 release date.
In a recent Instagram story update, Breckenridge interacted with curious Virgin River fans angling for some details on the upcoming release of season 6. While the actress couldn't spill the beans on the official release date just yet, she did confirm recent reports from Netflix that the new season would be released in 2024 rather than the projected 2025 release.
Breckenridge addressed the Virgin River superfans who seem to track down top secret details about the show and invited them to guess which month the season would drop, but she gave no hints. Instead, the Mel star simply shared the tease that...

Murder Mystery star Adam Sandler sent his congratulations to a talented young golfer, Happy Gilmore, who shares the same name as his character in the 1996 comedy film.
After real-life Happy Gilmore announced that he has officially committed to Ball State University for his academic and golf career, Sandler took to Twitter to express his support to the high school senior. Gilmore, whose actual name is Landon, received the nickname "Happy" when he began playing in golf tournaments at a young age. Sandler’s Happy Gilmore movie is one of his classic comedies from the 1990s, which helped establish his status as a leading man.

Adam Sandler went from Saturday Night Live cast member to a movie mogul in his own right, but how do his films stack up? Delivering laughs and entertainment throughout his career, the actor and filmmaker is perhaps best known for slapstick comedy and rude humor, but Sandler has presented a wide range that extends beyond typical expectations of him. In fact, some of his finest work comes in more dramatic roles, even when they aren't as popular in box office terms.
Sandler continues to cater to both sides of his talents with him regularly turning out both the comedies that made him famous and more risk-taking roles. While many of his films were successes despite criticism, some have certainly held up better than others. There is a lot of nostalgia surrounding Sandler movies, particularly entries like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, but his newer films, though similar to the older ones,...

Adam Sandler has become one of the most profitable comedy actors, but he also holds one specific Hollywood record that literally no one else in the industry wants. Adam Sandler has earned his place as one of the biggest names in comedy, and his career began in TV in the late 1980s in The Cosby Show, where he played the character of Smitty, Theo Hixtable’s friend. His big screen debut arrived in 1989 in the comedy movie Going Overboard, where he also had a screenwriting credit, and in 1990, he joined Saturday Night Live first as a writer and as an actor the following year.
Sandler became more known after starring in the comedy Billy Madison, and in 1999, he formed his first film production company, Happy Madison Productions, with its first production being Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. Since then, Sandler has starred, produced, and written a variety of comedies, though not all of them critical successes,...

Adam Sandler's comedies have been notoriously hated online, but 10 of his movies wrongly have terrible scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Sandler has been making comedies for decades, and while some are definitely better than others, many of his films are undeservedly panned. While many of Sandler's Rotten Tomatoes scores make sense, these 10 comedies are far too underrated.
Sandler is a comedian and filmmaker that has been in all kinds of movies, ranging from comedies to critically-acclaimed dramas. His first feature film was 1989's Going Overboard, which is famously panned. However, after joining Saturday Night Live and boosting his career, Sandler went on to have a string of beloved comedies, including Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and several others. Sandler's Happy Madison Productions continued to make high-profile comedies up until he made the jump to dramas with movies like Uncut Gems. That said, these Sandler movies don't deserve their low Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Adam Sandler has starred in numerous comedy movies, but very few have gotten sequels even though they deserve them. Although his films haven't always been critically well-received, Sandler's filmography has been undeniably influential, with the actor having some of the most popular and remembered comedies of the '90s, 2000s, and 2010s. Sandler has been part of a variety of franchises, and some certainly deserve a modern sequel.
Getting his start with the 1989 film Going Overboard, Sandler rose to notoriety after being hired by Saturday Night Live. Sandler's career then really took off after the release of 1995's Billy Madison, with the actor then going on to form the production company that was behind many of his films, Happy Madison Productions. Not many Adam Sandler movies have gotten sequels, and now that the actor has moved on to serious projects like Uncut Gems and Hustle, modern sequels to his comedies seem even less likely.

Lots of actors make a living starring in mostly bad movies, but few do it on such a scale and level of success as Adam Sandler. The frustrating thing is, we all know how talented he can be when he feels like it, at least compared to other bad movie regulars like, say, Gerard Butler. You always know what you're going to get with Butler, that steady level of grimacing B-movie badness, and he's never going to suddenly wrong-foot you with an Oscar-worthy performance before going back to stabbing people to death with pencils.
Sandler certainly has the talent, but he just can't be bothered to use it most of the time. Maybe he doesn't feel the need when his special brand of lowbrow humor has earned him a loyal fanbase all over the world. That was something Netflix was keen to get a slice of when they signed him...

Since making his film debut in 1989’s Going Overboard, Adam Sandler has tackled almost every conceivable genre. Of course, he’s best known for the comedies that turned him into one of the most recognizable stars in the business, which has since evolved into him becoming the biggest draw on the world’s most popular streaming service, but the Happy Madison head honcho is still willing to try new things, even if he doesn’t do it particularly often.
Obviously, most of his non-comedic work comes when his production company aren’t calling the shots, but Sandler is a much more versatile talent than people give him credit for. Dramatic performances in Punch-Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, The Meyerowitz Stories, Men, Women & Children and Uncut Gems were all warmly received, he proved a surprisingly effective romantic lead in Spanglish and Blended, and he even made a buddy action movie in the mid-90s,...

The 2020 Oscar Nominations were announced this morning. And Adam Sandler did not make the cut for his Uncut Gems performance. Fans of the movie and the actor are not very happy at the moment over the Academy's decision to snub Sandler. Now, Sandler may very well deliver on his promise of making an intentionally bad movie in the near future. But what could that bad movie be? Adding insult to injury, Uncut Gems was not acknowledged at all by the Academy.
The Academy disappointed a decent amount of people this morning with their list of nominees. With the release of Uncut Gems, many fans and critics believed that Adam Sandler was going to get his first-ever Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Sandler's name was not mentioned among the nominees, which include Joaquin Phoenix, Adam Driver, Leonardo DiCaprio, Antonio Banderas, and Jonathan Pryce. Fans of Sandler are understandably furious...

After setting A24 history with a record opening weekend, Josh and Benny Safdie’s thrilling Uncut Gems will finally open in wide release this Christmas, which is probably better than any present one will receive this holiday. Ahead of the wide release, we’ve got another treat: a one-hour conversation with the directors and another director that gave Adam Sandler one of his greatest performances: Paul Thomas Anderson.
The wide-ranging conversation, of course, kicks off discussing the brilliance of the actor, including how PTA adores Big Daddy and Happy Gilmore, but didn’t love The Waterboy and he, along with the Safdies, has never seen Going Overboard. PTA also talks stopping by the Little Nicky set with Quentin Tarantino and what he learned on the set of Eyes Wide Shut.
Other topics in the lively talk include working with cinematographer Darius Khondji, Boogie Nights, how Sandler had to be in character during the entire shoot,...

In an interview promoting Thanks For Sharing, his sex addiction movie, Mark Ruffalo provides an update on Ryan Murphy's The Normal Heart, which was supposed to have shot over the summer. "I'm expecting that to go in the spring; we couldn't do it in the summer. Larry Kramer and Ryan have been working on this new draft, which is really good, and they're able to do a lot more than even the play was able to do as far as sexuality and the real trials and tribulations of living with people in that time with AIDS and caring for them. I think it could be really powerful."

Not so funny for Universal
Despite rapid-fire penis jokes, a third act collapse and a rather melancholy theme, spit-wad shooter and sometime director Judd Apatow’s latest tour de fart, Funny People, landed at the No.1 position with an estimated $23.4 million.
Starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, Funny People still has some room to grow if it wants to catch its astounding $75-$100 million budget during its theatrical run. (See, that’s what happens when you have Paul Reiser stop by for a cameo. The payroll goes through the roof.) Look at the studio projections (low-$20 million to the mid-$30 million) and Universal may have been gambling on Funny People having a Hangover-like run. Time will tell.
This also marks Sandler’s worst comedy debut since 2000’s Little Nicky. Yet compared to the Happy Gilmore star’s more serious films (Punch-Drunk Love, Spanglish… Going Overboard), Funny People was a weiner winner.

One of the great features over at the Internet Movie Database is the Bottom 100. Based on ratings viewers of the site give to various films, the worst of the worst films get put on this list. Some of them are on and off in a matter of days. Others stick around for the long haul, showing just how much suckage they truly emit.
It’s time to look at these movies and determine where they stand. Do they deserve to be on the Bottom 100 list? Are they not as bad as everyone says? Will they be off the list any time soon?
Here’s the breakdown for this week’s film:

"Donkey Punch" has finally released its trailer. Posted exclusively on Yahoo! Movies, the less than two-minute video starts off with a scene showing three women enjoying their holiday in Spain. While having a drink at a nightclub in a Mediterranean resort, they meet four men who offer them to continue the party on one of the men's yacht.
When the party gets wilder, one of the ladies dies in a freak accident. Though in the beginning all six agree to throw her body overboard to avoid troubles with the police, some change their minds due to their own fears and consciences, leading to a ruthless fight for survival.
Directed by Oliver Blackburn who also wrote the script with David Bloom, "Donkey Punch" is a British suspense thriller with a tagline "This Party Is Going Overboard". Having been released in the U.K. on July 18, 2008, the movie starring Nichola Burley, Tom Burke,...
