The so-called “Strictly curse” has been a tabloid mainstay for at least a decade, founded on the idea that participating on Strictly Come Dancing (whether as a celebrity or a professional dancer) threatens the status of the relationship you’re in when you sign up.
Stories of its destructive power arrive like clockwork each winter. Along with forgotten B-listers and stars of Holby City and/or EastEnders hitting the dance floor, hysterical headlines will report on Strictly duos left so erotically charged in pasodoble rehearsals that they dump their spouses.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman has repeatedly shot down the curse, once saying that it’s less a supernatural occurrence as merely the Strictly experience being “intoxicating”. It is also true that dancing is an obvious aphrodisiac. Regardless whether you're rehearsing an intimate routine or not, dancing releases endorphins and makes you happy (it’s science!). There are so many things you could say about Vince McMahon, especially given that so many things have already been said along a broad and winding spectrum. Some people like him, others can’t stand him, and some think he’s the devil himself. But one thing he most definitely is when it’s all said and done is a businessman. He might have questionable methods or he might be a genius, or both, it doesn’t matter. The man knows how to make money and he knows how to put on a show. Three of Holland’s most decorated players have announced they will take part in Soccer Aid for Unicef this summer.
Patrick Kluivert will make his debut for the Soccer Aid World XI, with Jaap Stam returning at the heart of the defence in front of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar who has also starred previously.
The Dutch triumvirate – two of which, Stam and van der Sar, enjoyed successful club careers with Manchester United at Old Trafford – will team up with compatriot Clarence Seedorf who has already announced that he too will play for the Soccer Aid World XI.
An imposing central defender, Jaap Stam won a range of trophies with some of Europe’s top clubs across a 15-year career. Included in this was a three-year stay at Manchester United, where he is remembered fondly as part of the ’99 treble-winning side.
Edwin van der Sar was one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation.

Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendan Cole has admitted that he "wasn't hopeful" when he was paired with Kirsty Gallacher.
Gallacher was voted out of the show at the weekend after making a mistake during her Charleston, but Cole explained that she had come a long way.

But who brought a bit of magic to the dance floor, and who had a monstrous night? Find out with our round-up of the scores and comments from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli - and you can relive every dance below:

Len: "The problem is you're like an English rose and the paso is a cactus, sharp aggressive and spiky. It doesn't really suit your personality. I got the willies at one time when I thought you would use the wrong foot. It wasn't great, Kate - I wish it was."
Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Strictly Come Dancing's Kirsty Gallacher has admitted that she's more worried about "popping out" of her ballroom dress than falling over during a live performance.
The Sky Sports presenter - who has received a mixed reaction from the judges so far - said that an accidental flashing would be "horrendous".
"The most embarrassing thing would be actually popping out of your dress," she told The Sun.
"Realistically it's not going to happen as the wardrobe people are brilliant, but actual exposure would be horrendous.
"If you make a mistake or fall over, it happens because we're not professional dancers. But popping out..."
Reflecting on the success of her Viennese waltz with dance partner Brendan Cole last weekend - which prompted praise from the visibly-impressed judges - she continued: "At the beginning I was worrying too much.
"But after the dance-off, I tried to relax more and am really enjoying it.

Week 5 has come on Strictly Come Dancing and we were treated to an even dozen of dances as the celebrities took to the dancefloor.
But who wowed the panel and who could be in danger? Digital Spy has the judges' comments and scores from all 12 dances here:
1. Georgia May Foote & Giovanni Pernice dancing the salsa to 'You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)' by Sylvester = 7+8+8+8=31
Len: "It was a great show starter and a bit of a show stopper. Terrific routine, a disco salsa. You were really working your assets. Well done – great start!"
Bruno: "You're a gorgeous little strumpet! Those hips were like a bag of steps. More of that please. It's good to see you so alive. Be careful of the lifts' dismount – that has to be absolutely flawless."
2. Carol Kirkwood & Pasha Kovalev dancing the Viennese Waltz to 'I've Been Loving You Too Long' by Seal: 4+6+6+5=21

20:20That's your lot for tonight though? Do keep hitting the comments to let us know what you made of tonight's action. Who was the best? Who was the worst? And who do you think will be going home? And stick with DS for all the Strictly coverage you need!

Strictly Come Dancing star Kirsty Gallacher has revealed that she is ready to come out fighting after nearly going home last week.
Kirsty and her professional partner Brendan Cole ended up in the bottom two with Daniel O'Donnell after their paso doble but explained that the disappointment has caused her to come out fighting.
"I feel reinvigorated," she told Mail Online. "I think Jamelia and I were both very similar in that she didn't have a lot of confidence before the dance-off either.
"I need to attack it more - I don't want to go home yet. I was really determined to stay in before the dance-off this week, but now I feel even more so, mainly for my family. They're watching me every weekend."
Kirsty - who split from her husband Paul Sampson this summer - added: "I've been taking the judges' comments on board this week and working on my hands and shaping.

Bruno: "That was warming up nicely. The samba has a carefree feel to it, but a couple of times there you got a little tangled and it kind of stopped it a little bit. The technique is actually very very hard. It was a bit on and off."

Strictly Come Dancing was all very pleasant last week - everyone danced and had a lovely time. We even had a wardrobe malfunction, courtesy of Anthony Ogogo and his trouser-splitting jive. Oh dear: there's trouble in Strictly Come Dancing paradise. Judge Craig Revel Horwood has been stirring the pot by suggesting that pro Kristina Rihanoff was "gutted" to be paired with Daniel O'Donnell, while another report suggested that Oti Mabuse thought her celeb Anthony Ogogo was an "arsehole" before they started working together (Anthony's insisted that's not true).
But both of those duos could have had it a lot worse, as these six disastrous partnerships from the past prove:
1. Lynda Bellingham & Darren Bennett (series seven, 2009)
How far did they get? Finished in 13th place
What's the problem? We didn't know it at the time, but Lynda's widower Michael Pattemore revealed in his book My Lynda that she didn't get on with her partner Darren - because he was a "miserable git" who wanted to dance solidly with No Fun Allowed. Strictly Come Dancing feels like it's ages away, so thank you to the BBC for keeping us going by releasing this photograph of the professional dancers in training.
The pros don't even know who they'll be competing with yet, but they're already hitting the dance studios to keep limber (and pose for pictures, obviously).
The BBC posted the snap on Twitter and pointed out that it's our first glimpse at new pros Otlile Mabuse, Giovanni Pernice and Dancing with the Stars alum Gleb Savchenko.
The photo also shows Ola Jordan looking in good health after she picked up a knee injury during training for Channel 4's The Jump at the end of last year; she later admitted that she feared she might never walk again.
