When the Hives released their last album, in 2012, the Swedish garage-rockers didn’t plan on waiting 11 years to follow it up. Unfortunate, unforeseen events just kept getting in their way. The trouble started in 2013, when bassist Dr. Matt Destruction left the group due to health problems; continued in 2019, when drummer Chris Dangerous was temporarily sidelined following major stomach surgery; and the capper came in 2020, when the pandemic made it impossible for any of them to travel to America to record.

When Rage Against the Machine canceled their remaining 2022 and 2023 tour dates due to singer Zack de la Rocha’s torn achilles tendon, fans likely assumed that the shows would be made up once he healed. However, in a new interview, guitarist Tom Morello suggests that the future of Ratm is uncertain, and that there’s a chance the shows may never be rescheduled.
After a couple of delays due to the pandemic, Rage Against the Machine finally kicked off their reunion tour last summer, with de la Rocha severely injuring himself during the second show of the outing.
While the singer soldiered on to play the remainder of their North American summer run while seated onstage, Ratm announced that their scheduled 2022 UK/European shows and 2023 North American dates were canceled to allow him time to heal.

Bad Bunny has seemingly hit out at Kendall Jenner’s ex-boyfriend in Eladio Carrión’s new song “Coco Chanel”.
The Puerto Rican rapper collaborated with fellow American rapper Carrión on the eighth track of his newest album, 3MEN2 Kbrn, released on 17 March.
In the song’s first verse, Bad Bunny, who’s rumoured to be dating Jenner, sings, “Pero el sol de PR calienta má' que el de Phoenix / Ella lo sabe”, which translates to, “But the sun in Puerto Rico is hotter than in Phoenix / She knows it”.
Phoenix appears to directly refer to Jenner’s ex-boyfriend, professional NBA Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker. The two reportedly split in October 2022 after dating for two years.
Elsewhere in the song, Bad Bunny raps, “Las de escorpio son peligro”, which translates to, “Scorpio women are dangerous”.
The 27-year-old reality TV star and model’s birthday is on 3 November 1995.

Three men have been found guilty of the 2018 murder of rapper XXXTentacion who was shot in broad daylight in South Florida while being robbed of $50,000.
Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, were all found guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery by a jury after seven days of deliberation.
They will receive mandatory life sentences at a later date; prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, which is still technically in operation in Florida, in the case.
During the monthlong trial, prosecutors linked the men to the June 18, 2018, shooting outside Riva Motorsports in suburban Fort Lauderdale through extensive surveillance video taken inside and outside the store, plus cellphone videos they took that showed them flashing fistfuls of $100 bills hours after the slaying.
Prosecutors also had the testimony of a fourth man, Robert Allen, a former friend of the defendants who said he participated in the robbery. He pleaded guilty last year to second-degree murder.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello is the latest rock luminary to come to Meg White’s defense after music journalist Lachlan Markay called her “terrible.”
Markay’s criticism has faced a surmounting chorus of backlash led by Jack White, Questlove, Nandi Bushell, and many more. It all started when Markay replied to a tweet about the 20th anniversary of The White Stripes’ iconic song “Seven Nation Army.” In the reply, Markay unapologetically dragged Meg’s drumming ability while adding that “no band is better for having shitty percussion.”
Now Morello has weighed in with a passionate pro-Meg take on Instagram: “I hear there’s some controversy on this matter lately so let me set fools straight: #MegWhite is one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock n roll.”
He continued: “There are a Handful of drummers Ever who are Instantly recognizable rocking their Many Hit Songs with Flavor,...

Drummer and musician Nandi Bushell has posted herself playing a drumming solo honouring Meg White in support of the drummer after she became the subject of recent criticism.
The video shows the 12-year-old drumming along to “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, with the name “Meg” written all over her drums.
Later in the clip, the video switches to an old video of Bushell as a toddler playing drums to the same song alongside her father who is on the guitar.
Text across the video then reads: “The first time I played drums I jammed Seven Nation Army. Thank you for [one of] the greatest rock songs ever! We Love You Meg!!!”

Nandi Bushell has joined the chorus of voices supporting The White Stripes drummer Meg White after writer Lachlan Markay called her “terrible.”
“Meg White is my Hero,” Bushell tweeted alongside the video. “The first day I got drums my dad showed me the video of Seven Nation Army. I saw Meg playing the drums and thought she was the coolest person in the world. I still do.”
Bushell continued, “The more I learn about music, the more I realise that songs, and art, are created to wake emotions deep inside the soul. No matter how fast my fills get or number rudiments I learn. If I can’t write a song that moves people, then can’t call myself an artist.”
“Meg and Jack wrote some of the best songs in rock history,” the young drummer concluded. “They moved me at 5 years old to want to play the drums and still move me today!

Courtney Love is ready for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to start recognizing women and people of color. The "Doll Parts" singer wrote a scathing op-ed on the subject for The Guardian on March 17. In her essay, she noted that women make up barely eight percent of the inductees, while the statistics for people of color are roughly the same. Popsugar reached out to reps for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for comment on Love's remarks, but did not receive an immediate response.
"If the Rock Hall is not willing to look at the ways it is replicating the violence of structural racism and sexism that artists face in the music industry, if it cannot properly honor what visionary women artists have created, innovated, revolutionized and contributed to popular music - well, then let it go to hell in a handbag," Love wrote.

Courtney Love is calling out the lack of female artists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — as well as the lack of women on the institution’s nomination board and voting body — in a scathing new op-ed the Hole singer penned in the Guardian. “The Rock Hall’s canon-making doesn’t just reek of sexist gatekeeping, but also purposeful ignorance and hostility,” she wrote.

Jack White has responded to the debate over Meg White’s drumming ability by posting an original poem in support of his former White Stripes bandmate.
A row errupted this week after writer Lachlan Markay called her a “terrible” drummer.
“The tragedy of The White Stripes is how great they would have been with a half decent drummer,” he wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
“Yeah, yeah I’ve heard all the ‘but it’s a carefully crafted sound mannnn!’ takes. I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having s****y percussion.”
Since then, numerous fans and friends including Questlove, Karen Elson, and Jack himself have jumped to defend Meg and criticise Markay for his comments.
Elson, who was married to Meg’s ex-husband and bandmate between 2005 and 2013, tweeted: “Not only is Meg White a fantastic drummer, Jack also said the White Stripes would be nothing without her.

Chet Hanks has hit back at Eric André, who recently accused him of “breaking” the crew during a guest appearance on his show.
The 39-year-old comic hosts The Eric André Show, an absurdist unscripted sketch programme that parodies late-night talk shows. It features interviews with celebrities and celebrity impersonators, interspersed with chaotic man-on-the-street-type segments.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, André recalled Hanks, the 32-year-old son of Hollywood icons Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, allegedly engaging in “dangerous” behaviour while on set of the Adult Swim series.
Shortly after the interview was published (on 14 March), Hanks responded to André, labelling him “emotionally disturbed”.
“Had no idea you were such a p***y,” Hanks wrote, tagging him in an Instagram Story.
Hanks then followed up with a subsequent video, sharing his side of the story.
“So Eric André invites me onto his show. I had never seen it before, so I started watching episodes.

Courtney Love has hit out at an anonymous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voter for admitting they were “unfamiliar” with singing icon Kate Bush’s music.
In a recent Vulture article, journalist Devon Ivie spoke with two unidentified Rock Hall voters who gave their opinions on this year’s 2023 official induction class ballot. The ballot includes the likes of Bush, Missy Elliot and Rage Against the Machine.
When asked if they would vote for the “Running up That Hill” singer, “Voter two” – who’s been an active voter now for “six or seven years” – said: “I’ve got to admit that I’m not too familiar with her music, so I don’t know if I would vote for her. I want to make sure I know the catalogue.”
A few days after the piece was published, Love, the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Hole, responded in outrage.

Brooke Shields reveals she was sexually assaulted in her 20s in her upcoming documentary Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby.
Shields alleges she was assaulted by an unnamed Hollywood executive but never came forward to accuse the man.
“[I thought] no one is going to believe me,” she told People ahead of the documentary’s premiere on Hulu. “People weren’t believing those stories back then. I thought I would never work again.”
The two-part film will focus on the actor’s rise as a child star and the sexualisation she was subject to aged 15 in 1980’s The Blue Lagoon.
“Doing the documentary, you see it all together, and it’s a miracle that I survived,” the 57-year-old added.
“It’s taken me a long time to process it,” she said of her alleged assault. “I’m more angry now than I was able to be then. If you’re afraid, you’re rightfully so.

Regé-Jean Page has confessed that he and Bridgerton co-star Phoebe Dynevor’s on-screen sex scenes were not as romantic as they may have appeared.
The two starred as strangers who mutually use each other to avoid the courting season and eventually become lovers in the debut series of Netflix’s hit romance, which is set in England’s Regency era.
To fan dismay, Page left the show after its first season.
However, during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 32-year-old British-Zimbabwean actor was asked to reveal some secrets from the show.
“Phoebe and I had horrendous coffee breath the whole way through,” Page told the host.
“We made a pact early on. It’s one of the things that you do [as an actor]; you approach other actors and say, ‘Hey, the scene is after lunch. What are our rules? Are we no onions? Are we no garlic?...

Lil Nas X has apologised to the transgender community after fans accused him of making a transphobic remark.
Earlier this week, in a since-deleted tweet, the 23-year-old “Old Town Road – Remix” rapper posted a photo of a woman who bore a passing resemblance to him, alongside the caption: “The Surgery Was A Success.”
Fans responded in anger, calling out Lil Nas X for seemingly mocking the gender transition process with what they felt was a transphobic joke.
The two-time Grammy-winner was initially defensive towards critics, replying to one: “I’m literally just saying she looks like me y’all cannot be f***in serious.”
While countering another, who had asked, “Why did you have to mention surgery?”, he wrote: “Because she has t****s? Are u dense?”
On Tuesday (14 March), a few days after the uproar, the “Industry Baby” singer appeared to have reevaluated his original response.

Paris Hilton has spoken about feeling judged by Pink following the release of the singer’s “Stupid Girls” music video.
In 2003, the reality TV stars was the subject of the leak of an intimate tape she’d filmed with her then-boyfriend, Rick Salomon. The tape was filmed when she was 19, with Salomon going on to sell a longer version of the tape in 2004.

Writing in her new book Paris: The Memoir, Hilton says that she was pressured into filming the sex tape, yet had felt shamed and unsupported by Pink, who she’d always thought of as “generous, evolved, and progressive” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Hugh Grant has divulged a subtle “in-joke” hidden away in the “nauseating” final scene of Notting Hill.
The British actor appeared in the 1999 romcom as bookshop owner William Thacker alongside Julia Roberts, who played Hollywood film star Anna Scott.
In the film’s closing moments, William and Anna can be seen cosied up together on a park bench, with Grant’s character reading a book.
In a new interview with Wired, Grant was asked if he remembered what book he was reading in the scene.
The actor, who referred to the scene as “nauseating”, not only remembered, but revealed how it was an in-joke placed there by director Roger Michell, who died in 2021.
“In that nauseating moment on the bench at the end, I’m reading Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernières, which was going to be his next film,” Grant said, adding: “So it’s a little in-joke from Roger Michell,...

Marvel bosses are trying to find the source of an Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania leak.
The film, starring Paul Rudd and Jonathan Majors, was released in cinemas on 17 February. However, details of the plot were leaked online months before.
Comic book studio Marvel intends to take legal action over the leak, according to a Disney company source.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a federal judge in California has issued subpoenas to Reddit and Google ordering the platforms to identify the users who leaked the dialogue.
The judge order follows after Marvel requested information so it could identify whoever posted the film’s unreleased dialogue to the r/MarvelStudioSpoilers subreddit.
According to the publication, Marvel is likely to sue over the leak.
Moderators of the subreddit in question posted the subtitle file for the Ant-Man sequel on 20 January, months after unconfirmed details of the plot were leaked on the site.

Andrew Garfield’s awkward grimace following an Oscars joke has been explained by the ceremony’s producer.
During the event on Sunday (12 March), host Jimmy Kimmel said there would be no repeat of last year’s slap as he had assembled a crack team to prevent such “violence”.
“You’re gonna have to do battle with Michelle Yeoh before you get to me,” he said, while also listing Creed III actor-director Michael B Jordan, Fabelmans director Steve Spielberg and Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal.
Each actor reacted accordingly, to big cheers from the crowd, but when Kimmel said: “You are gonna have to tangle with Spider-Man!”, the camera cut to Andrew Garfield, who awkwardly grimaced in his seat.
The crowd, who had been cheering each actor, appeared confused, and applauded after a delay. Viewers watching at home reacted to the crowd’s “nasty” reaction. It’s been claimed that the assumption was that Tom Holland,...

New Jersey band Yo La Tengo performed their Nashville show in drag on Monday night (13 March), in apparent protest against Tennessee’s restrictive new drag law.
Earlier this month, Tennessee became the first state in the country to approve restrictions on where drag shows can be performed, marking the latest development in the battle against genderqueer freedom of expression in the United States.
The bill effectively bans drag from being performed on public property or in spaces where minors are present.
Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan and James McNew returned for the second half of their set at The Basement East this week dressed in drag, before performing their new track “This Stupid World”.

Karen Elson has joined the band of musicians jumping in to defend Meg White after the former drummer was criticised by a reporter on Twitter.
This week, a tweet from political journalist Lachlan Markay surfaced in which he claimed that The White Stripes would have been a better band with “a half decent drummer”.
“Yeah, yeah I’ve heard all the ‘but it’s a carefully crafted sound mannnn!’ takes. I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having s***ty percussion,” Markay wrote.
The reporter’s sentiment has been widely rebutted by the music industry. Elson, who was married to Meg’s ex-husband and bandmate Jack White between 2005 and 2013, tweeted: “Not only is Meg White a fantastic drummer, Jack also said the White Stripes would be nothing without her.
“To the journalist who dissed her, keep my ex husband’s ex wife name out of your f***ing mouth.

The White Stripes dropped a 90-minute Yule log video on Tuesday set to songs from the band’s recently released Greatest Hits compilation album — along with acoustic tracks, B-sides, and the band’s Christmas tune “Candy Cane Children.”
The video, directed by Noah Sterling, features several looping animations ranging from a more innocuous image of a family sitting by the fire watching TV with pets (and raccoons and a docile cougar), to creepier shots of demons emerging from the walls and a slender man-like figure readying dinner in its Christmas-themed cave.
