She has two Best Actress Oscars and five nominations including one most recently for 2023’s Nyad. She received her first for 1976’s Taxi Driver when she was only 14. Add to these impressive accomplishments, three BAFTA awards, three Golden Globes, and an Honorary Palme d’Or among other accolades and honors. Still it is surprising to note she has never once been nominated for an Emmy for any acting role.
She does have two previous Emmys nominations behind the scenes, one for directing an episode of Orange Is The New Black, and one as a producer on the TV movie, The Baby Dance, but Foster is definitely overdue to jump into the Emmy race.
Well, folks the time has come and she is certainly one of the front runners, not only to get a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series, Television Movie, or Anthology, but also possible to even win.

With a title like Life After Fighting, you might think this is a documentary about the lives of boxers and Mma competitors once they’ve left the ring for the last time. Instead, it’s a somewhat misnamed action film about Alex Faulkner a former competitive fighter who now runs a dojo. But we know he’s not done with fighting, or rather it’s not done with him, otherwise this would be a damn short movie.
Much of the film’s first half-hour revolves around Alex and his budding romance with Samantha who he meets when she brings her son Terry (Anthony Nassif) in for classes. It also leads to the film’s first fight when her possessive ex, Victor sics his massive buddy Milan on him.

J.G. Quintel’s new “Regular Show” and Craig McCracken’s “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” spin-off both feature in a new production slate from Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
Unveiled Wednesday at Annecy to an appreciative crowd at Annecy’s MIFA market, which greeted multiple shows with whoops of enthusiasm, the two new announcements join a new “Adventure Time” series, “Side Quests,” as greenlights at the Warner-owned companies.
The new slate also boasts two more “Adventure Time” shows in development, plus an unannounced Scooby-Doo project.
The big question raised by the studio’s Annecy focus is whether the surge in new shows is a temporary anomaly or marks a broader indicator of a more sustained return by Warner Bros. Discovery to fuller-on animation production after the lull of the recent past.
Certainly, news will not come much bigger at this year’s Annecy than “Adventure Time,...

If you have a thing for old-fashioned action movies, mainly the ones where a single good guy takes on the entire bad world, Life After Fighting must have been a lot of fun for you. Australian actor and martial artist Bren Foster’s directorial debut (where he also stars in the lead role) is far from a perfect action movie. It is a bit too long, and the editing is weak; in fact, there’s a whole subplot the movie could have done away with. But the final hour of it is action-movie lovers’ wet dream, and that’s what counts. Life After Fighting has a straightforward narrative and a very comprehensive ending. In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at it, especially the bloodied, action-packed climax, which is clearly the main deal.

The ethics of documentary filmmaking is not a new topic of debate, but after last month’s Washington Post article about an Afghan man allegedly murdered by the Taliban as a consequence of his participation in Matthew Heineman’s Oscar shortlisted 2022 documentary “Retrograde,” the discussion around the moral responsibility of nonfiction filmmakers has once again heated up.
Unlike with journalists, there are no widely-accepted standards that documentary filmmakers are expected to abide by. Regulations for personal nonfiction storytelling can be counterintuitive. Intrusive. Unless a director is working on a documentary for PBS’ “Frontline” series, known for adherence to journalism standards, situational ethics determined on a case-by-case are more often than not the norm.
“Retrograde” tells the story of the United States’ final months of its 20-year war in Afghanistan. In the film Heineman, whose “Cartel Land” was nominated for an Oscar in 2016, embedded with the U.S. Army Green Berets and Lt.

HBO’s “True Detective” took over television in 2014 with Woody Harrelson and Mathew Matthew McConaughey as two gritty detectives struggling to solve a seemingly impossible string of supernatural murders. Ten years and three seasons later, Jodie Foster and Kali Reis have taken over for “True Detective: Night Country,” ushering in the most-viewed season of the series to date.
As part of the Variety Indigenous Storytelling in Entertainment Breakfast, Variety‘s deputy awards and features editor Jenelle Riley sat down with Reis, co-star Isabella Star Lablanc and creator Issa López to talk about how they brought the latest season of “True Detective” to life.
“True Detective: Night Country” follows detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) as they investigate an incident at an Alaskan research station and the disappearances of young women from a local Indigenous community. Much — arguably, too much — is often said about place as character in literature, film and television. And while a valid case could be made that the fictional town of Ennis, Alaska, was the real lead of True Detective: Night Country, those who made the HBO series credit an even bigger entity with moving to the top of the proverbial call sheet: the temperature.
“I watched that thermometer go from 4 degrees, to 1, to 0, all the way down to minus-18,” says Kali Reis, who plays Trooper Evangeline Navarro, of one the more grueling shoot days for the six-part mystery. “It was the first and only time that I got stern with [creator and showrunner] Issa López. I had this balaclava on, and she was like, ‘You can’t wear that, we need to see your face.’ I looked at her and said, ‘It’s episode five, everybody knows what I look like by now and I’m freezing.

HBO’s “True Detective” franchise had been off the air for five years, since its third season concluded in 2019. But all of that changed this year under the stewardship of Mexican filmmaker Issa López (“Tigers Are Not Afraid”), when the series came roaring back into the zeitgeist — with “True Detective: Night Country,” led by stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.
The murder mystery revolved around a central question: How did the scientists at the Tsalal research station in Ennis, Alaska end up as a frozen pile of dead naked men on the ice? A corpsicle, if you will! The answer — as uncovered by the true detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) — took the women through a maze of questions, some of which seemed to have no logical explanation: but in the end, very much did. Through their investigative work, they healed themselves — and Ennis too.

After a five-year hiatus, “True Detective” returned for a fourth season, a season that turned out to be one of its most critically acclaimed and most watched ever. With Emmy Award voting right around the corner, “True Detective: Night Country” stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, John Hawkes, Isabella Star Lablanc, executive producer Mari Jo Winkler-Ioffreda, and series creator Issa Lopez reunited for a screening and Q&a at the Television Academy to revisit the latest installment of the HBO anthology series.

As we ride the high-octane anticipation wave towards the Deadpool & Wolverine release, the Marvel universe seems to be reverberating its on-screen drama behind the curtains, with Deadpool’s very own co-creator Rob Liefeld stirring the social media pot on the platform formerly known as Twitter. His recent outpouring of frustration regarding a rocky Disney relationship sends us the vital message that all is not calm in the superhero playground.

Liefeld recently confessed a few angry things on his X/Twitter page. In the tweets, he mentioned an unpleasant and inconsiderate experience his representatives had. With his candid revelations of a heated negotiation fallout, we are reminded that even the mastermind behind superheroes must deal with corporate giants.

At nearly three-and-a-half hours, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon was already a long movie, but Jodie Foster thinks it could have been longer. In fact, she believes it should have been expanded into an eight-hour limited series.
Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr. chatted for Variety’s Actors on Actors, and both actors have recently had experiences with limited series, Foster with True Detective: Night Country and Downey Jr. with The Sympathizer.
“This is the beauty of having limited series,” Foster said. “You can expand on a story. I was thinking of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ — extraordinary movie, three-and-a-half hours long. And I thought, ‘I wonder why they didn’t do it eight hours long’ — to be able to explore all these other people, and give them another perspective. Robert Downey Jr.’s career has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The Oppenheimer star has seen it all – the highs and the lows. From his early rise to fame, that was stunted by a crippling drug addiction and was at once threatened to stunt his career as well. But he bounced back in style. Since then, there has been no turning back for him. And he’s played numerous interesting roles. But on the top of his list would be a series which saw him take on the mantle of playing 4 roles.

Jodie Foster wanted more “Killers of the Flower Moon” — or at least, to see more “perspectives” showcased in the film’s retelling of the Osage Nation massacres.
The actress said during an interview with Variety that Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated epic could have benefitted from being even longer, or perhaps reimagined as a limited series. Scorsese’s film already received criticisms for being too long at almost four hours; theaters began issuing an intermission during screenings, much to the dismay of editor Thelma Schoonmaker.

*Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for True Detective: Night Country ahead*
Acting is undeniably a rollercoaster journey filled with exhilarating highs and challenging lows. However, within the chaos, there exist those rare scenes that deeply shake one’s very core. True Deceptive Night County, starring the incredible Jodie Foster, showcases this aspect of the craft perfectly.

Despite her stellar performance throughout, there was a particular scene from the finale that felt like walking into a nightmare for her. While audiences may find it difficult to watch, the true challenge lies in the actor’s experience of bringing such intense moments to life on screen. Thus, it is important to applaud the tremendous courage it took for Foster to confront and execute that particularly harrowing scene where she had to fall through the ice.

On a Sunday afternoon in late April, seven of this year’s Emmy frontrunners convened at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica. There were four Oscars and another 18 Emmy nominations between them, but the web of shared experience went far beyond hardware.
Earlier in their collective careers, at least a few of them starred opposite each other onscreen (Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston among them); one actress (in this case, Naomi Watts) played the mother of another (Brie Larson); and still another actress (Jodie Foster) had graciously stepped in when a second (Kidman) had to bow out of a role. Griselda‘s Sofia Vergara and Aniston share an acting coach, Anna Sawai and Larson share a history in music, and Watts and Kidman share a friendship that dates back 40 years.

Griselda‘s Sofia Vergara and Aniston share an acting coach, Anna Sawai and Larson share a history in music, and Watts and Kidman share a friendship that dates back 40 years.

Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr. have a long history. Their careers have intersected over time, starting when Foster directed Downey in her 1995 Thanksgiving comedy “Home for the Holidays,” where he played the sweet-natured but rebellious black sheep of the family. More recently, both were nominated in supporting categories at this year’s Oscars — Foster was nominated for her role as an encouraging swim coach in “Nyad,” and Downey won for playing a villainous government official in “Oppenheimer” — and played key roles in HBO limited series. Foster was a hard-bitten cop in “True Detective: Night Country,” writer-director Issa López’s reimagining of the crime franchise that centered on Alaska Native communities. Downey tackled four roles — a CIA agent, a university professor, a congressman and an indie filmmaker, each representing a facet of the American power structure — in Korean director Park Chan-wook’s adaptation of the post-Vietnam War novel “The Sympathizer.

Whether exploring post-apocalyptic wastelands or the far reaches of space, it’s easy to get lost in the visual language of a video game world. Transitioning that experience into a cinematic storytelling form is no easy task, but this season has seen more than a few production designers square up to the challenge.
Fallout takes some visual models from the Bethesda game series for an entirely new story, Halo grounds the sci-fi game universe with real world architecture, and although The Witcher exists as a video game series, the Netflix series version focuses on finding depth in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original fantasy novels.

Being an actor means losing out on many, many roles, especially when you are just starting out. Glen Powell knows this agonizing truth all too well. The actor was initially known for his role in Scream Queens (2015-2016), where he played Chad Radwell. However, he gained worldwide fame and recognition only after playing Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). He then went on to star in his own rom-com, Anyone but You (2023) opposite the gorgeous Sydney Sweeney.

If there is anyone in the film industry who greatly appreciates their rise in fame, it is Glen Powell. The actor came so close to playing many iconic roles in his career that would’ve given him recognition well before Maverick. This includes the time when he auditioned for The Longest Ride (2015).

Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner worked together for seven years. In that time, Parton went from a rising voice in Nashville to a recognizable star. Many people believed she had outgrown their working relationship and was ready to move into a solo career. Wagoner resented when people said Parton had been stuck in their partnership. He said that if anyone should have felt trapped, it was him.
Porter Wagoner said he felt like Dolly Parton trapped him
In 1967, Parton joined The Porter Wagoner Show as a singer. She signed to Wagoner’s record label, and the pair began to release successful duets together. It was a major opportunity for her, but by the early 1970s, she began to feel stuck. When interviewers pointed this out to Wagoner, he bristled.
“I feel like that trap was pretty nice to her,” he said, per the book Dolly by Alanna Nash. “There were...

Foster the People have officially ushered in their next chapter with the announcement of a new album called Paradise State of Mind, which is slated for release on August 16th via their new label home, Atlantic Records. As a preview, they’ve unveiled the first single, the disco-toned “Lost In Space.”
“The record started as a case study of the late Seventies crossover between disco, funk, gospel, jazz, and all those sounds,” Mark Foster shared in a statement. “It was such a beautiful moment in time, when these different styles of music were cross-referencing each other — artists like Nile Rogers and Chic, the Tom Tom Club, and Giorgio Moroder.”
“Lost In Space” invokes moments of psychedelia, the space age, the anthemic of the ’80s, and dramatic disco strings, achieving that decades-spanning energy Foster described. “I’ll follow you anywhere,” the band sings on the euphoric, campy chorus. The track arrived...

The turn of the millennium brought about a rapid and progressive change in Hollywood. From shrinking the pay gap to featuring prominently in leading roles, women began to usher in a true sense of modern film-making. Stark examples in the form of Mean Girls, Gravity, The Morning Show, and Captain Marvel have become flag-bearers of this change. In recognition of this showcase of women’s power, a Drama Actress Roundtable took place courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.

Starting off with a controversial character, Allison Rafferty was only present in Season 2 but still divides fans. Some hate her for her prejudice against Shay just because she once knew a lesbian who wasn’t cool; others praise her professional ethics and attitude — but everyone agrees they’d like to see where she’s at now.
7. Jimmy Borrelli
Jimmy Borrelli was one of the candidates for Truck 81 in Seasons 4 & 5. His personality clashed with the discipline required of him and led to a tragedy: after disobeying Chief Boden’s orders, he was severely injured and lost an eye. While his firefighting career ended prematurely, fans would love to see how his life turned out. Despite his (Chicago) Fiery character, Borrelli didn’t deserve what happened to him.

Jodie Foster may have been nominated at the Academy Awards for portraying a real-life rape survivor in “The Accused” (for which she ultimately won) as well as as a child prostitute in “Taxi Driver,” but now the actress is calling out the overwhelming trend throughout Hollywood history of male screenwriters relying on assault storylines to craft female characters.
Foster told The Hollywood Reporter that she was “always shocked” by how many scripts included a rape backstory for women.
“For most of my career, I was always shocked that so many of the scripts that I read, the entire motivation for the female character was that she’d been traumatized by rape. That seemed to be the only motivation that male screenwriters could come up with for why women did things,” Foster said. “‘She’s kind of in a bad mood, yeah, there’s definitely some rape in her past.'...

Michael Urie will reprise his Off Broadway performance opposite Sutton Foster in the upcoming Broadway summer transfer of Once Upon A Mattress, the Mary Rodgers musical newly adapted by Amy Sherman-Palladino.
Urie and Foster will continue their roles when the Broadway production moves to Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre in December.
As he did in the recent New York City Center’s Encores! production, Urie will play the good-hearted Prince Dauntless, who becomes smitten with the free-spirited commoner Winnifred (Foster), much to the chagrin of his not-so-nice queen mother.
Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Directed by Lear deBessonet (Into The Woods), Once Upon A Mattress begins previews Wednesday, July 31, at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre, opening Monday, August 12, and running through November 30. The production begins its four-week L.A. engagement at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre on December 10, ending its run January 5.

“I don’t know if anybody told you, but none of us knows what we’re doing,” announces two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster halfway through the Drama Actress Emmy Roundtable. She’s surrounded by two more Oscar winners — Expats’ Nicole Kidman and Lessons in Chemistry’s Brie Larson — who nod in agreement. The True Detective star continues, “and that’s the real beauty of it, having that freshness of doubting yourself.” Over the course of an hour at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica, that trio, along with The Morning Show’s Jennifer Aniston, Shogun’s Anna Sawai, Griselda’s Sofía Vergara and Feud’s Naomi Watts, discuss everything from mentorship to menopause.

Dolly Parton’s career reached new heights when she began to appear on The Porter Wagoner Show. She was a rising star in Nashville, but Wagoner was a much-loved figure in country music. Her years on the show helped make her a bigger name, but she eventually outgrew the job. One record executive said the show began to do more damage than good.
A record executive said Dolly Parton needed to move on from Porter Wagoner
After seven years on The Porter Wagoner Show, Parton decided it was time to move on. They had been incredibly successful as a duo, but Parton wanted to make a name for herself as a solo artist. Other in the industry believed this was the right move.
“The team was a winner. I don’t know if they’re winners separately or not,” country music comedian Minnie Pearl said in the book Dolly by Alanna Nash.

HBO broadcast its first women’s boxing bout, between Kali Reis and Cecilia Brækhus, in 2018. Just six years later, Reis is one of the stars on HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country,” where she plays Detective Evangeline Navarro alongside Jodie Foster. After Dolly Parton moved to Nashville, her life turned around when a record label signed her. Fred Foster, who founded Monument Records, realized Parton would be a success and began to work with her. He thought she needed a little work before she could achieve stardom, though. Foster reportedly spent thousands of dollars trying to make her a little classier.

Dolly Parton moved to Nashville in 1964, ready to both write and sing songs. Though she had achieved some success in her hometown, she struggled in her early days in the city. She began to achieve success not long after a country singer recorded a version of a song she wrote. Parton sang uncredited backing vocals on the song, which began to garner some interest for her.

Parton and her uncle, Bill Owens, wrote songs together over the years. In 1966, country singer Bill Phillips recorded a version of their song “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.” Parton sang harmony on the song, though her vocals went uncredited. When it entered the Top 10 on the country charts, though, people thought this was due to Parton’s voice.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) issued a pardon to Daniel Perry, the former United States Army sergeant who had fatally shot an armed demonstrator during a Black Lives Matter protest in 2020.
He was held in state prison on a 25-year sentence since being convicted of murdering Garrett Foster, an Air Force veteran who lawfully carried an Ak-47 while marching in a Black Lives Matter protest, by an Austin jury back in April 2023.
The former U.S. Army sergeant was working as a ride-share driver back in July 2020 when he turned his car onto a street in Austin filled with demonstrators and shot Foster before he drove off.
Perry served in the Army for over a decade. During the time of the shooting, he had been stationed at Fort Cavazos, then Fort Hood, which is about 70 miles north of Austin.

A former U.S. Army sergeant who was convicted of murdering Garrett Foster, a Black Lives Matter protester, in Austin in 2020 will be set free after Texas Governor Greg Abbott pardoned him.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended the release of Daniel Perry on Thursday, according to USA Today, and within two hours Abbott gave him a full pardon, ending the 25-year sentence he had been serving. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Perry’s record may even be expunged.

Welcome to Nobody Wants This — a very, very good place brought to you by Erin Foster. The comedy stars Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell and SAG nominee Adam Brody as Joanne and Noah, an unlikely pair that are bound to make you giggle. The first photo from the series (above) proves the duo will also make you swoon. If the romance feels real, that’s because it was inspired by Foster’s own love story.
“This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy,” Foster, who created Nobody Wants This, tells Tudum. “But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable (there’s nothing to complain about). So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard. Nobody Wants This, but we do, and that’s all that matters.

In a recent court filing, a security guard who worked for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt claims that Jolie allegedly urged their children to “avoid” their father during visitations.
The revelation emerges amidst the ongoing and increasingly contentious legal battle between the ex-couple over their French winery, Chateau Miraval. Tony Webb, the owner of a security company, submitted a 12-page statement to the L.A. Superior Court which stated that he was previously employed by Jolie from 2000 to 2020 but continues to work for Pitt.
Webb’s declaration asserts that he received a call from one of Jolie’s aides, Michael Vieira, who sought assistance to dissuade two bodyguards who had previously worked for Jolie through Webb’s company, from testimony in her custody battle with Pitt.
The two contractors were expected to testify in the family court case about their children, some of whom have now reached adult age: Maddox,...

The The Thing (1982) episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Cody Hamman, Edited by Joseph Wilson, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
John Carpenter’s The Thing (watch or buy it Here) didn’t go over well at all when it was released in 1982. Ignored by movie-goers, it was a box office failure. Reviled by critics, it even saw Carpenter being labelled a pornographer of violence by some reviewers. It was such a disappointment for the studio, they took another project away from Carpenter as punishment. But it gradually found its audience, building up a cult following. And soon, a legion of fans and critics alike began calling it one of the greatest horror movies ever made. It didn’t take long for The Thing to go from being known as reprehensible trash to being considered an all-time classic.

Before making your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress, take a tour of our photo gallery that highlights the leading contenders. Currently in the frontrunner position is Jodie Foster (“True Detective: Night Country”), who has yet to even be nominated for an acting Emmy at this point in her 55-year career.
Foster would be the first actress to receive an Emmy mention for “True Detective,” which has produced four seasons over the past decade. Its previous three acting notices went to inaugural season costars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey (who competed for Best Drama Actor in 2014) and third season lead Mahershala Ali (2019).
Hoping to soon achieve second wins in this category are Claire Danes (“Full Circle”; formerly of “Temple Grandin”), Kate Winslet (“The Regime”; “Mildred Pierce” and “Mare of Easttown”), Julianne Moore (“Mary & George”; “Game Change”), and Nicole Kidman (“Expats”; “Big Little Lies”). Also in the...

In 1967, Dolly Parton’s career reached new heights when Porter Wagoner invited her to appear on his television show. The spot on The Porter Wagoner Show brought her increased exposure, and their duets consistently landed her in the Top 10 on country charts. Still, Parton bristled at the notion that Wagoner discovered her. She had been working as a musician for a long time before she joined Wagoner on his show.
Dolly Parton said Porter Wagoner did not discover her
Parton was unquestionably grateful for the impact Wagoner had on her career. Still, she wondered if he got a bit too much credit for her success. She believed her uncle did more to get her started as a musician.
“I sometimes wonder if Porter doesn’t take more credit than he deserves,” she wrote in the book Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business. “On the other hand, I often wonder if he gets enough credit.

“You know you can watch that at home, right?” Such was the advice directed my way by a wisecracking passerby while queued up for a screening at the 2024 Turner Classic Movies Film Festival in Hollywood, California. They were clearly not a festival passholder, but the indifference heard right there on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was another instance of the trampling of history that both the festival and its parent channel aim to counter.
Probably the most even-handed response to that trampling would be a reminder—to flip a well-known phrase—that a home is not a house (not a movie house anyway). The folks who flock to Los Angeles every year from all over the world to attend this festival, probably all subscribers or rabid devotees of the channel that bears its name, cough up a prodigious amount of money to do so. It’s clear that for them,...

Jodie Foster is undoubtedly one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood. The actress made a name for herself by playing the young prostitute Iris Steensma in Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, after having appeared in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore two years prior. But, while her filmography includes some important titles like The Accused (1988), Sommersby (1993), Maverick (1994), Contact (1997), Anna and the King (1999), Panic Room (2002), Flightplan (2005), Inside Man (2006), The Brave One (2007), Nim’s Island (2008), Carnage (2011), Elysium (2013), The Mauritanian (2021), and Nyad (2023), her best-known role is that of Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, which also brought her her second Oscar. Recently, she also appeared in True Detective: Night Country.
But, while she has definitely gathered a large number of major roles, she has also – as you might have assumed – rejected and lost several other major roles, and from what we know now, one of these roles was a major Star Wars role.

The only person who knows for certain what happens to Detective Navarro at the end of HBO’s True Detective: Night Country is Kali Reis herself.
“I have my own interpretation for Navarro, but I have not shared that with a soul,” Reis shared during the Deadline TV Contenders panel for the series.
Reis was joined by her co-star Jodie Foster, as well as showrunner Issa López, to discuss Night Country. While the ending may seem quite ambiguous, López assured that there is “an answer,” if audiences look close enough.
“I think that if you look very carefully, very carefully at the show and follow the lines very carefully, there’s an answer to what we saw at the end,” she told the audience. “But again, there’s a space for where your heart wants to live…and what you need to get out of it.”
