The “Fatal Attraction” TV series is not going forward at Fox, TheWrap has learned. The adaptation of the 1987 Michael Douglas-Glenn Close movie was in the works way back in Summer 2015, but casting issues stalled it out. The cast-contingent project was passed on by Megan Fox, we’re told by an individual with knowledge of the proposed production. By the time Jenna Dewan hopped aboard, the show was pretty much a goner. Fox has opted not to proceed with Fatal Attraction, an event series reboot of the iconic Paramount thriller. The network put the project in development in 2015, with Mad Men alums Maria and Andre Jacquemetton executive producing and writing and Paramount Television and 20th Century Fox TV producing. Fatal Attraction heated up in late 2016, with active casting done in anticipation of a pickup. But I hear that, after receiving the script, Fox brass ultimately opted against…...

Here’s some good news for bunnies everywhere: Fox is not moving forward with a small-screen adaptation of Fatal Attraction, TVLine has learned.
RelatedA Living Single Revival Is in the Works, According to Queen Latifah
Reports of the 1987 thriller — about a Manhattan attorney (played by Michael Douglas) and his lunatic mistress (Glenn Close) — being rebooted as a limited-event TV series first surfaced in July 2015. Mad Men‘s Maria and Andre Jacquemetton were expected to write and executive-produce.
Rumor has it casting issues played into the project’s demise, as producers had a tough time finding an A-list actress interested in filling Close’s sizable shoes.

As Hollywood continues revisiting their VHS collections finding movies and television shows from the '80s and '90s to bring back through name recognition, somewhere some executive at Fox must have dusted off a copy of Fatal Attraction. That would be because the 1987 romance thriller is the latest film property to get the "event series" treatment on the tube. The reasoning for this, it seems, is because current Fox president David Madden supervised and developed the movie when he was an executive at Paramount. So at the very least, this is probably more a personal project for the studio head than your average re-churning. At the moment, it doesn't look like anyone else from the original property is involved, though "Mad Men" scribes Maria and Andre Jacquemetton are signed on to rewrite James Dearden's Oscar-nominated screenplay. That's right, were you aware Fatal Attraction had six(!) Oscar nominations back...

We’re not sure if an innocent bunny will meet a wet, hot, unfortunate fate during Fox’s event-series remake of the 1987 big-screen thriller Fatal Attraction, but this much is certain: Whoever takes on the roles originated by Glenn Close and Michael Douglas will need to exhibit intense sexual chemistry — and an undercurrent of unhinged volatility.

As part of its burgeoning expansion plan, Paramount Television Production continues to leaf through the studio’s back catalogue in search of material to re-work. Its latest commitment is a television event series based on the 1987 Paramount film Fatal Attraction, for which Fox Broadcasting Network has commissioned a script. This collaboration comes as no surprise, since David Madden – the current president of entertainment at Fox – was previously the executive at Paramount that developed the original movie.
That movie was something of a seismic cultural event at the time of its release. The recent trend of dusting off old 1980s and 1990s movies and reinventing them into contemporary TV series continues today with news that Fox is developing a small screen series remake of the 1987 thriller classic "Fatal Attraction".
Though being considered as a short-order 'event' series, the project is being assembled with the potential to continue on with a second season. "Mad Men" alums Maria and Andre Jacquemetton will pen the script and executive produce alongside Stanley R. Jaffe and Rosalie Swedlin.
Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer starred in the original Oscar nominated film in which a married man's indiscretion comes back to haunt him. It became a smash hit at the time, the highest grosser of the year with $320 million from a budget of just $14 million, and spawned endless discussion about the consequences of infidelity.

Mad Men, Season 6, Episode 12: “The Quality of Mercy”
Written by Andre Jacquemetton & Maria Jacquemetton
Directed by Phil Abraham
Airs Sundays at 10pm Et on AMC
“You’re a monster,” is the key line of tonight’s episode. It’s almost comically literal when you think about it alongside the exchange between Duck and Pete. Duck claims he’s never seen anything like Bob Benson before, and Pete chillingly intones “I have.” You can almost hear the theme from Phantom of the Opera in the background as it cuts to Don. Variations on this theme have been strung throughout the season. Think back on the moment Peggy walked into Ted’s office only to find Don there. He was reintroduced to us in the premiere reading Dante’s Inferno, suggesting a descent into hell, but now it seems as if he would feel at home there, a monster among monsters.

Oh yes it still hurts that Ben Affleck was not given a Best Director Oscar nomination, yet his fantastic film "Argo" continues its ascension to Oscar glory! The film took home the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards taking home the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.
So guess which film will win the Oscar Best Picture? Yup, it will be "Argo!" Why? Well, Hollywood really loves movies about them and "Argo" is about a movie of a fake movie in order to help free some Americans trapped in Iran during the hostage crisis.
And, the PGA award is a significant Academy Awards precursor. Only seven times in 24 years has the PGA winner failed to win a Best Picture Oscar. So "Argo" has a strong chance.

The Producers Guild of America has announced its nominations for best productions of the year, in what is often looked to as an indicator for how the Academy Awards may go.
The guild selected 10 films — most of them common guesses for the group that could make up the Oscar list of the best films of 2012: Argo, Lincoln, Les Misérables, among others.
The one surprise: Skyfall. No 007 film has ever cracked the Best Picture list, but if this nomination is any indication, that could change when the Oscar nods are revealed Jan. 10.

HBO’s Game of Thrones, Showtime’s Homeland, CBS’ Big Bang Theory and FX’s Louie were among the nominees in the top categories for the annual Producers Guild of America awards.
There’s a lot of overlap here with the 2012 Emmy award nominations, with a few exceptions: HBO’s Boardwalk Empire missed landing a slot for best drama series (there were six Emmy nominees and five for PGA). While on the comedy side, HBO’s Girls and Veep weren’t nominated, but Louie was. If you’re wondering why Comedy Central’s Emmy favorite The Daily Show with Jon Stewart...

Well if you hadn't really heard of Homeland prior to this weekend, you probably have by now. The Showtime series pulled off a major upset at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards last night, winning a large chunk of the major awards in the Drama category over favourites like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis both took home awards for Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series, while the show also broke Mad Men's four-year win streak for Outstanding Drama Series. Elsewhere, Aaron Paul won his second Emmy for his supporting performance as Jesse Pinkman on Breaking Bad, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus won Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Veep. Modern Family still took the Outstanding Comedy Series, however, while the HBO movie Game Change took the Outstanding Mini-Series or TV Movie. Kevin Costner did manage to pick up some...

A real drama is heating up in the race for Best Drama Writing, as two recent script-writing champions face off for the first time: three-time writing winner Matthew Weiner ("Mad Men") and last year's Movie/Miniseries scripter Julian Fellowes ("Downton Abbey). Weiner actually contends for two of the five slots this year, making him the favorite in this race. He co-wrote both of his nominated episodes ("Far Away Places" and "The Other Woman") with "Mad Men" staffer Semi Chellas. Meanwhile, Fellowes stands alone as the sole writer of his nominated episode ("Episode Seven") of "Downton Abbey." A third episode of "Mad Men" also contends for Best Drama Writing: "Commissions and Fees" written by Andre Jacquemetton and Maria Jacquemetton. This brings "Mad Men's" tally to 13 different writing nods over its first five seasons. In the entire history of the Emmys...

Mad Men has taken home the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in three of the last four years, and it’s certainly got a stacked deck in this year’s race.
Indeed, three-fifths of the 2012 nominees in the category are episodes from AMC’s accalimed period drama: “The Other Woman” (written by Semi Chellas and Matthew Weiner), “Commissions And Fees” (written by Andre Jacquemetton and Maria Jacquemetton), and “Far Away Places” (written by Matthew Weiner and Semi Chellas).

"Everything you think is going to make you happy just turns to crap." If that's not a statement about Mad Men's major themes, I don't know what is. While it's outsider Glen Bishop (Marten Holden Weiner) who utters those words at the end of the episode, they could be said by just about any character on the drama, offering a prism through which to see that our expectations are often dashed against the rocks when faced with the reality of our situations. Happiness, as Don Draper (Jon Hamm) would argue, just begets more happiness, but more importantly, the sensation of happiness demands further happiness. It's elusive and short-lived and, as one gets older, the simple things that might have once made us joyful--driving a car, an illicit cup of coffee with tons of sugar--turn to ash in our mouths. Happiness, it seems, is as much about anticipation as it is expectation.

Mad Men, Season 5, Episode 12: “Commissions and Fees”
Written by Andre Jacquemetton & Maria Jacquemetton
Directed by Chris Manley
Airs Sundays at 9pm (Et) on AMC
A major thematic arc this season has been the dissatisfaction of characters, derived from their constant efforts to achieve happiness; whatever “happiness” actually means. This has manifested itself in a number of different ways throughout the season and appears once again in this episode, the penultimate of the season.
For Pete and Roger, boredom has been at the forefront of their discontent. Both have tired of their respective wives. Roger is even at the stage of finding sex “disappointing” with others outside of his now separated wife. “If they can get it, won’t everyone want it?”, Roger proposes during the partner meeting. This idea of greed and the continued struggle for happiness, as last week’s episode noted, points to the fact that happiness is probably unattainable.

Don't read on unless you've seen Season 5, Episode 12 of AMC's "Mad Men," entitled "Commissions and Fees."
"What is happiness? It's a moment before you need more happiness." - Don in the Dow Chemical meeting
It's somehow appropriate that this episode of "Mad Men" was full of references to accounts, ledgers, commissions, fees and expenses.
That's because, at the heart of the episode, there was a terrible miscalculation.
Don's fundamentally crippled when it comes to emotions -- he has them, but he often doesn't know how to deal with them or even what they are. He usually self-medicates them away with alcohol or tries to bury them with work or women. He may be slightly more attuned to what's going on inside his heart these days, but that's not saying much, considering the incredibly stunted place he started from.
The strangest dichotomy about Don is that he both can and can't...

Last night the Producers Guild of America (PGA) gave out awards for achievement in films and television released in 2011. The big winner was The Artist, which took home the Darryl F. As the winner of this award takes the Best Picture Oscar three times out of four, any betting on the top Oscar honor is pretty much over at this point. Read on for the full list of winners.
