Paramount Pictures has landed Daniel H. Wilson’s spec script “The Blue Afternoon That Lasted Forever” from “A Quiet Place” producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
Form and Fuller will produce under their Fully Formed Entertainment banner, which signed a first-look deal at Paramount last summer.
Wilson adapted from his own short story, which follows a single dad and Nasa physicist who discovers a black hole that will strike earth in a matter of days. The problem is that no one, including his colleagues at Nasa, believes him. The one person that trusts him is his 10-year-old daughter, but that bond is now being threatened by a different force. Eric finds himself trying to save both his relationship with Marie and a populace unwilling to heed his warnings of the impending disaster.
Several bidders were chasing the spec, including Amblin, J.J. Abrams, Sony and MGM, before Paramount eventually landed it.

Exclusive: 101 Studios has optioned rights to the Christopher Byron book Skin Tight: The Bizarre Story of Guess vs. Jordache. The company will package a series around the epic, no-holds-barred Designer Jeans War that erupted between two immigrant Sephardic Jewish families. HBO has put in development Counterfeit, a half-hour comedy from husband-and-wife writing duo Andrew Gettens and Lauren Mackenzie (Hit & Run) and Jessica Rhoades’ (Sharp Objects) Pacesetter Productions, as part of Rhoades’ first-look deal with the premium cable network.
Written by Gettens and Mackenzie, Counterfeit centers on a couple, desperate to have a child, who learn there’s no way for them to conceive the old-fashioned way. And with no resources (and a loudly ticking biological clock) they start counterfeiting money to pay for IVF. Gettens & MacKenzie conceived of the idea for Counterfeit while going through their own struggles with IVF.
Gettens and Mackenzie will executive produce with Rhoades via her Pacesetter Prods.
Gettens and MacKenzie are a married writing team who started working together after collaborating on a best man speech for MacKenzie’s brother in 2014. They have since risen through the TV ranks to their current position as co-executive...

Executive producer Akiva Goldsman continues to develop an 'Old West' TV drama pilot for HBO focusing on real-life gunslinger, gambler, killer, 'Doc Holliday'.
Script is by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage ("Accepted"), adapting author Mary Doria Russell's novel "Doc", that takes a closer look at the 'love triangle' between Holliday, his prostitute wife, 'Big Nose Kate Elder' and best friend, lawman 'Wyatt Earp'.
'John Henry Holliday' was born in 1851 in Griffin Georgia. In 1872, after earning his 'Doctor of Dental Surgery', he opened an office in Atlanta with a fellow graduate, but was diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Hoping to gain some more years of life, he moved to Dallas, Texas, but his illness forced him to find other ways to live and he became an avid gambler, while learning how to handle a 'six-shooter' gun.
In 1875, Holliday killed a well known citizen, forcing him to flee Dallas under the pursuit of lawmen.
