Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

Brilliant Adaptation

Before I read the novel Frankenstein, I thought about what I knew of the story. All I reallly knew was from those old monster movies and I thought of the story as silly. After reading the novel and falling in love with the actual story, it occured to me that the old movie Frankenstein was very different then the original novel. In Kenneth Branagh's adaptation he sticks close to the story I know and love. Robert De Niro is fantastic as the creature, good scary fun.

One Hour Photo (2002)

ok it's been a while since i've seen this film, but i still believe that anyone who goes to see this will feel sad for seymour. anywho, the visuals were striking and very good direction. the ending was dissapointing in my opinion but my pulse was running.

Frailty (2001)

this movie is pretty cool because everything is justified and you do not find yourself hating the characters. I do not know how i can explain this without spoilers (which I do not like because whenever you see a review with SPOILERS written on it you are tempted to read it) but the characters are very well structured, I commened Paxton on his directorial debut.

Dick Tracy (1990)

too sugary

while watching this movie you have to understand that Batman had come out the year before and was a huge smash. The problem is though, is that the villain's aren't believeable (what's with that makeup?) and also the backgrounds are all cartoon. It's a nice little fun ride but it just doesn't have the full effect of the dark knight.

Mean Machine (2001)

my second favorite soccer film

for those that are fans of Guy Ritchie's films, this movie is fun to watch to see the actors come together in these roles. jason statham is a gem and should be put in more roles, for he truly is psychotic in this great but brief role.

wow what a comedy. this movie is pretty compelling and it gets pretty dark, my god the only grudge i hold against it is that it's too short, there should have been 3 segments but then again what the hell am i talking about this movie is so pure evil, but in a good way.

pretty chill italian flick, it shows the drastic changes of 2 people when there is a change of environment, I never would of expected such graphic scenes by a female filmmaker. you'll have to see it to see what i mean

The Magnificent Seven (1960)

yes it's true, this is exactly what this movie is, it's not neccesarily a bad thing, but if you look at it, the sets look exactly the same and watching this film will make viewers of the kurosawa classic go deja vu. McQueen is so cool

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

im sorry this film isn't for most people who don't like something that's different and dont prefer to have little intelligence now and then. Wes Anderson, one of the best directors out there, continues to brilliantly bring the characters to life as he did in Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. Beautiful sound track and breathtaking cinematography.

Amélie (2001)

with amelie of course. god this movie will bend your mind a little, it entrances you with all it's quirky characters and interesting subplots, it's a nice tune to dance to. If your prejudice against foreign films cause your too lazy to read to enjoy a film well im sorry then you'll just have to miss out on this one. "the fool looks at the finger that points at the sky"

this movie is a cinematic classic, it totally should've beat Titanic but the academy only likes bad movies apparently. this movie could never be made today with the three main stars being superhuge, this may be the only russel crowe i enjoyed, but dont think im warming up to you crowe, there's still a tag on your ass. grrrrrr

Last Action Hero (1993)

that's right, if your reading this review your probably a movie buff considering your on imdb.com and your actually taking time to read reviews, believe me im one of you. This movie is great, combining spoofs of action films of the late 80's/early 90's and a generally good action story itself and this movie also contains a rarity, the child actor isn't annoying!! "i'm the famous comedian, Arnold Fitzenhousen!"

The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)

before i saw this movie the only thing i heard about it was that it's Scorsese's worst, regardless i still remained curious and rented it. It was a very interesting movie and Scorsese pulled it off very well, it's not his worst after all (Bringing Out The Dead is). But something still bugged me, being that this is an 80's movie it had a terrible soundtrack which at times made scenes fell corny. good lord if we learned anything from the 80's.

Dog Day Afternoon (1975)

best hostage situation film ever made

now i know that's not saying much, considering the only other ones of that genre that come to mind are The Negotiator and Airheads both of which are pretty good. Bottom Line: this movie is superb, acting is excellent, it is a spicy meatball, kind of a drag ending though.

Penn & Teller Get Killed (1989)

this movie has some interesting stunts that are pulled, but I kept asking myself during the duration of the film, Is Penn the guy who does the "next on Comedy Central" voice. Otherwise I could dig this movie, jay and silent bob seemed to rip it off a little bit.

like those dumb kids in high school who try to make friends with everyone and always carry gum and smell funny, this movie tries to hard to attract everyone's interest. It's a weak screenplay with some pretty good cinematography, but it loses it's audience's interest early on.

for every 20 pieces of crap that hollywood produces there's one of these movies that really blows you away. Ocean's Eleven is one of those movies. Very stylish, very funny and not too complicated to figure out.

ahhh how good it feels to be back with old skool Adam Sandler comedy. No more morons from hell, no more child support, just good old sandler. oh yeah and John Turturro is funny as hell. It's a hilarious outing with a heart of gold.

Orange County (2002)

Though Jack Black shines in all his films, this film lacks enough comedic power to be rendered funny and thus it goes as the way most people would label it, this film is aptly called upon as "it sucks!", sorry Jake Kasdan, but maybe you should try not to slip while following in your father's footsteps.

Donnie Darko (2001)

ok this is like the 30th review that ive written for this film, so in brief let me say i saw this film for the first time on easter and thus everywhere i went i talked about this film. It is an incredible landmark and the theories behind it are well-worked, if you like smart sci-fi that you have to figure out this is the movie for you.

yes I admit it, speilberg's latest does capture ingenuity and action and all those other elements that made Indiana Jones a great character. It began to become confusing at one point but then it came back and explained itself, it really is worth 9 bucks.

what a crowd pleaser, what i have noticed is the remarkable sensation that the young and the old get when watching this film. It is a very humorous story with action and plenty of eye candy. For those of you that dont like animation, live a little.

the star wars saga continues, and most pissy fans who still wont grow up and accept the fact that these movies are being made and missing out on one of 2002's funnest movies. A couple of things in the first hour that make you say "wait a minute, there aren't diner scenes in star wars movies" and stuff like that but then the last hour overstuffs you with eye candy. good fun.

The Big Lebowski (1998)

The Coen brothers are at it again, this film rocks from head to toe. Dont watch it on USA though ("this is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps"?), rent it and get comfortable for the Dude shall spill a most excellent tale of mistaken identities and general clowning around.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

The Coen brothers have a history of putting out incredibly smart and funny and very violent films with great cinematography. This film is probably the least gratuitous of they're films, but that's not neccesarily a bad thing. The movie is still refreshed with the Coen brothers authentic flavor and you feel happy to be taken on this voyage afterwards. A truly enjoyable movie
