Plot: A bachelorette party being held in an isolated farmhouse is crashed by a group of homicidal home invaders.
Review: In some circles, writer/director Neil Labute tanked his reputation by making the goofball 2006 remake of The Wicker Man – which is a shame, because when he first arrived on the scene he was a best known for making emotionally devastating dramas and dark comedies like In the Company of Men and Your Friends & Neighbors. His latest film is the home invasion thriller Fear the Night… and while it’s not on the level of his well-regarded dramas and dark comedies, it also doesn’t fall to the depths of the Wicker Man remake. (Which star Nicolas Cage insists was always meant to be a comedy as well.) So it may be best to refer to this one as “From the director of Lakeview Terrace”. It’s not great, it’s not bad.

A brand new trailer for sci-fi action movie Kill Switch, starring Dan Stevens, has landed...
Update: A second trailer has now landed for this one. Which looks like this...
Here's our story on the original trailer from the start of the month...
Dan Stevens has been a busy man these past few years, evidenced by the debut trailer for one of the many projects on his docket: sci-fi action film Kill Switch. However, the trailer showcases a rather unconventional effort with cinematography so reminiscent of a first-person-shooter video game, you’d think that this was a trailer for a movie adaptation of Half-Life. For the record, it’s not.

Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great horror and sci-fi movies arriving this Tuesday on Blu-ray and DVD. Scream Factory is keeping themselves busy with the release of both Bloodsucking Bastards and Stung (the latter in conjunction with IFC Midnight), and for those of you creature feature fans out there, Lavalantula comes home on November 3rd.
Other notable releases this week include México Barbaro, The Diabolical, Arrow’s special edition Blu for Tenderness of the Wolves, and The Diabolical.
Bloodsucking Bastards (Scream Factory Blu-ray & DVD)
Bloodsucking Bastards stars Fran Kranz as Evan Sanders, a low-level, dutiful employee stuck in a boring job at a soul-killing every corporation. Marvel
Not so long ago, a disgruntled former Marvel employee (or at least someone representing themselves as one) took to Reddit (that bastion of employment tribunals) to say Marvel were concerned about the Thor franchise and were making major strides to hire a big name director to rescue it. Back then, Adam McKay, Matt Reeves and Gareth Edwards were all suggested – all of whom would have brought something different to the table – but now, according to some digging by Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez, a different name has been suggested.
Now, Gonzalez – who has a track record for occasionally making wild leaps of speculation (or listening to the wrong sources, depending on who you believe) – is saying to take his suggestion with a pinch of salt, but he claims to have worked out that Thomas Daly might be the man in the middle.

Kaya Scodelario is an actress on the verge of something big. She’s already a fixture in the Maze Runner franchise and has some light buccaneering to do in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. She's also been on the Empire Podcast. But she’s mixing up those ginormous franchise properties with some smaller-scale projects. One of them, home invasion thriller Tiger House, will flaunt her action skills, and you can check out its knuckle-whitening new trailer below.brightcove.createExperiences();There are no tigers here – unless one of the characters is using Tinder – but there is a suburban residency in the grip of a terrifying, violent intrusion from Dougray Scott, some handpicked goons, and, by the looks of things, a sackload of tools and masking tape. What they’re after isn’t immediately apparent. What is clear is that Kelly (Scodelario), the girlfriend of one of the house’s residents,...

While Jason Statham searches for an appropriate action vehicle in China, one of his former franchises drives on without him. The Transporter Legacy, starring Ed Skrein (pictured), will motor into North American theaters on March 6, 2015, according to Variety. It will be the first release from EuropaCorp USA, a new distribution entity formed earlier this year. Camille Delamarre, who helmed Brick Mansions, the English-language remake of 2004's Banlieue 13, is directing the new installment in the series. Skrein also has roles in the upcoming action flicks Northmen: A Viking Saga and Tiger House, so we'll see if The Transporter Legacy can give his career a boost in a similar manner to how Statham's career was boosted by his lead performance in The Transporter back...

The team behind UK home-invasion thriller Tiger House are out in Cannes touting their wares and the film has a new poster to help them do just that. Before it adorns a strategic spot at the festival's film market ('Le Marché du Film', if you want to be all Gallic about it), here's a first glimpse of the film's cast in one-sheet form. Starring Kaya Scodelario of Skins, Clash Of The Titans and soon The Maze Runner fame, it's putting a spin on the traditional genre ploy of an unlikely schleb searching for the hero inside himself, finding it and using it to beat trespassers upside the head. Here it's the woman - Scodelario's crooked gymnast - who's the hero of the piece and her boyfriend the one in need of rescue. Unusually, the 'c' in her R.I.C.E. recovery programme seems to stand for 'crossbow' rather than 'compress'.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have that nice Dougray Scott round, you'd think. You could chat about how things went so wrong for him at the end of Mission: Impossible II and where he keeps his Enigma machine. He’d probably bring a cake. Only, well, not so much in his new home invasione film Tiger House.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott is jetting out to Cape Town to join a Brit thriller that sees Kaya Scodelario’s injured gymnast face off against a bunch of home invaders. The former Skins actress will attempt to save her boyfriend from the armed gang who have taken him and his family captive. There's no role announced for the once-nearly-Wolverine, but he'll play someone "badass" according to word from the film's camp.Ill Manors’ Ed Skrein is also aboard the film, which has a first-look still of...
