We take a look at some of the most memorable and freaky floating brains and flying heads in the history of cinema...
Nb: The following contains spoilers for The Brain From The Planet Arous and Prometheus.
For some reason we've yet to discover, cinema has, for decades, been home to all manner of sentient, disembodied heads and floating brains. Note that we’re not talking about decapitations here - though goodness knows that cinema is home to plenty of those, from Japanese samurai epics to modern slasher horrors.
No, we’re talking about movies where heads and brains remain sentient even when they’re stuffed into jars or colossal things made of stone. Sometimes used for comedic effect, at other times for shock value, they’re a surprisingly common phenomenon in the movies. Here, we celebrate a few of our absolute favourites - though you’re sure...

Forget your 'Jan in the Pan' jokes and all those 'thing in the closet' remarks about gay subtext. This loopy, kooky and kinky horror offering from New York's Tarrytown is a keeper despite its primitive direction and campy screenplay. Mad scientist Herb Evers answered the call to Bring Me the Head of Virginia Leith, and goes on a sleazy shopping spree to find a voluptuous body to make her complete, in the literal sense. It's all in the worst of taste: in other words, delightful. The Brain that Wouldn't Die Blu-ray Scream Factory 1962 / B&W / 1:66 widescreen / 81 min. / Street Date December 22, 2015 / 26.99 Starring Herb (Jason) Evers, Virginia Leith, Leslie Daniels, Adele Lamont, Bonnie Sharie, Paula Maurice, Marilyn Hanold, Bruce Brighton Cinematography Stephen Hajnal Special Effects Byron Baer Art Direction Paul Fanning Film Editors Leonard Anderson, Marc Anderson Original Music Abe Baker, Tony Restaino Written by Rex Carlton and Joseph Green Produced by Rex Carlton,...

Since I don't follow a whole lot of white supremacists on there, there's only one reason why Adolph Hitler would be blowing up my Twitter feed right now: today is April 20, his birthday. To me, there's no better way to celebrate this awful man's day than by watching an awful movie about him. The horrors he inflicted on this world were so unbelievably heinous that nothing we could do to him now would repair even a fraction of the damage. But laughing at him in this piece of garbage, one of the worst movies ever made, gives us just a little taste of payback.
Technically, "They Saved Hitler's Brain" is actually two of the worst movies ever made. I will let BadMovies.org explain:
"In 1963, director David Bradley made a modest, yet confusing, little film called 'Madmen of Mandoras about the preserved head of Hitler leading a group of South...
