The Good Wife is upping the gay factor exponentially this season. Not only does it have Christine Baranski, who I dub an honorary gay man, bisexual Alan Cumming, and Alicia's gay brother Owen (Dallas Roberts), now they've given Owen a boyfriend played by Michael Arden. On top of all of that (not to mention Kalinda), Harvey Fierstein is joining the cast as a liberal judge to meddle in Alicia's cases.
As far as that news that Rep. Michele Bachmann would reinstate Don't Ask, Don't Tell? And we all wondered how that would work? Well, since Congress was sloppy with the repeal, it's really as easy as going back to old ban, pre-dadt, and can be done with an executive order, no law change needed. Of course, the military brass would probably counsel against the change, but I just don't see Bachmann listening to anyone.

The Television Critic’s Association is a bi-annual event where all the bigwigs from studios, actors, producers, directors, etc., get together and talk about the shows and events for the upcoming season.
Kevin Reilly, entertainment president of Fox, took the stage at TCA to comment about the network’s upcoming fall lineup, and one of the first big topics was, of course, Terra Nova.
One big bombshell Reilly dropped: Terra Nova will, indeed, only have a 13-episode run this season, but it is already contracted for a 22-episode run next season. So, rest at easy, Terra Novites –in-training, the show will be back. Promise.
Other items Reilly touched upon regarding Terra Nova:
He thinks it will be a big hit.
He thinks that the core draw of Terra Nova will be its cast: “Frankly for all the spectacle the thing that I actually like the best about the show is the cast.

Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour has a history of being a bit wacky. In years past, sessions have included open bars at virtually every panel, suggesting that the network realized their fall options to be so awful that a person had to be six sheets to the wind to put up with them.

11:35Am: Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly kicked off his executive session by addressing the Glee controversy. Actually, he doesn’t so much address it as avoid it by filibustering for five minutes as to just how phenomenal the creative trifecta of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy are, downplaying the talk of a spin-off (“It’s something that the team plans to revisit at the back half of the year”) and raising expectations with regards to the upcoming third season (“My two cohorts [at the network] were fighting back tears of joy [upon hearing Murphy's pitch] for the emotional stuff they had in store for fans this season.”
11:40Am: “I think it has taken on a little more heated momentum than it in fact is,” said Reilly when ask about the controversy surrounding the Glee spin-off that may-or-may-not happen. “There are many successful shows on the air that have genuine controversy and fighting. That...

Is Afterelton Post-gay? And What Does That Mean?
On Wednesday we posted an article, When It Comes to Teen Sex, MTV's Awkward is Anything But, about the progressive way the show is dealing with teen sexuality. In the comments, a number of folks asked why we had written an article about a show that (currently) has no gay overt content. At the same time, over on our recap of Pretty Little Liars (another show with no gay or bi characters, just lesbian ones), some readers wondered whether we're becoming less specifically "gay" and asked just what's going on.
While we've always covered some things that aren't specifically gay, it's true that lately we've been doing more of that. There are a number of different reasons driving that decision, and I thought I'd take a minute to explain why.
It started last year when I kept getting emails and seeing comments...

Bob Greenblatt will make his TCA debut as NBC chairman, and new CW president Mark Pedowitz will take the TCA stage for the first time. Also making its TCA debut -- gmc (form. Here’s what IGN thought of the 1 hour screening of the Terra Nova pilot.
Well it’s pretty good, but it could be better. In fact, there were a handful of new scenes added since the last time IGN saw this “half” and they really added a lot to the show. There are definitely some really interesting scenes here and the concept itself – a futuristic world where pollution and overpopulation have doomed humanity, which then resorts to using a wormhole, and a lottery-system, to take people back 85 million years to try and create a new society – is fascinating. There are a still a couple plot holes here and that might wind up frustrating some of the more hardcore sci-fi fans who check this series out. Of course, there’s always room to answer the dangling questions as the series progresses, but to have them not be addressed right at the beginning is a little glaring.

Slashflim has posted their review of the 1 hour screening of Terra Nova shown at Comic-Con yesterday. There were high praises for Jason O’Mara’s performance, the visual effects and the use of the Australian setting.
This extract basically sums up their review:
Fox showed roughly the first fifty minutes of Terra Nova, enough for us to get a good taste. How did it look? Were the delays worth it? Do the dinosaurs look good? Does O’Mara take off his shirt? Hit the jump for answers to those question and a review of the footage, plus highlights from the panel.
As you might expect from the first episode of such an ambitious, high-concept series, Terra Nova starts off with a lot of exposition and world-building. As such, it’s tough in some ways to say whether Terra Nova will work in the long run. Based on what I saw,...

I'm still not ready to tell you what I think of Fox's heavily hyped, abundantly speculated upon new drama "Terra Nova." I'm certainly not ready to do a review and I don't even think I'm ready for something as vague as a Take Me To The Pilots entry. I've seen "Terra Nova" twice now, once in a short version last month and once in the extended cut that had its premiere at San Diego's Comic-Con on Saturday (July 23) morning. Deadline Comic-Con TV correspondent Gary Hodges files: Saturday's TV panels for established albeit beloved shows like Futurama, The Simpsons, Family Guy didn’t draw the 4-hour lines of prior days. But the panel for the new Terra Nova (Fox) was a full house. The entire first half of Terra Nova’s 2-hour premiere rolled almost immediately. Much has been made of the show’s colossal budget, and it does show on screen – mostly. The first episode opens with an approach to future Earth from space, wholly unlike the appearance we’re used to seeing: it’s a planet-wide desert, no water seen anywhere, and as the camera cuts through the clouds we see a futuristic cityscape surrounded by wastelands, shrouded in hazy, yellow air. Humans wear rebreathers, and the film’s featured family expressed astonishment at a rare gift from their father: an orange. Apparently, in the future there is...

Just days before San Diego Comic Con 2011 will be kicked off, a panel for "Bones" is canceled, TVLine reports. A representative for the show explains that the event, that was set to take place on Friday, July 22, is scrapped because both Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz are unable to come to San Diego due to personal reasons.
Beside the two lead stars, creator/executive producer Hart Hanson as well as executive producer Stephen Nathan were also set to attend the panel. Fox has even released an official poster for the crime drama series to be brought to the convention.
Meanwhile, panels for other Fox's shows including "Glee", "Fringe", "The Simpsons" and "Terra Nova" are still on schedule. This year's Comic Con itself will run from July 21 until July 24.

The doctor is still in. Following weeks of ultimately down-to-the-wire negotiations, Jesse Spencer has on late Tuesday night closed a new deal to continue on as House‘s Dr. Robert Chase for the upcoming Season 8.
Spencer himself touted the good news via Twitter, telling followers, “I’m coming back for Season 8 with a tan and a busted [surf]board.” (The actor had been braving the waves at Newport Beach.)

The new Terra Nova promo making the rounds features much of the same clips from previous trailers and promos, save for a scenic shot of a valley where the Terra Nova camp is located. Check it out below.
The promo also tells viewers that Humans are once again part of the food chain. But are we really? I’m pretty sure that Terranovians will not be short on bullets and if cooked right, some of those Dinos should taste like chicken. No?
Click here to view the embedded video.
Terra Nova premieres on September 26th at 8pm for a two-hour special and then continues the following week on Mondays.

Question: Got any Grey’s Anatomy scoop? — Val
Ausiello: As a matter of fact, now that production on Season 8 is just about to get underway (on Friday, to be specific), every day seems to bring a new tidbit. Today’s: The show is casting a new intern, and not one of those know-it-all can-do types, either. The rookie — male, by the way, and presumably hot — seems right from the start to be in over his pretty head.

Just in case you’ve never seen any of the shaky handheld video on YouTube and need a quick explanation: TV and movie panels at Comic-Con take place in ballrooms at the convention center, and stars and directors and showrunners show clips of their project and take questions from the audience. It is So. Much. Fun. This is a very brief summary of all of the show and movie panels currently scheduled to be at the 2011 Comic-Con.
There is a boatload of information available about each of these panels – and about everything other panel that will be there – if you go to the main site. Check out the full schedule, which is now downloadable as a Pdf, and see all of the amazing panels being offered, from comic book authors and artists to game previews to costuming to a celebration of Harry Potter fandom, and you’ll see the agony...

Farewell Betty Ford, one of the most honest and upfront First Ladies the United States has ever known. From her professed intent to share a bed with President Ford in the White House to her struggles with alcohol to her battle with breast cancer, she was always an open book and did wonders for progressive causes — all from a Republican perspective. Can you imagine that today?

The hype for Terra Nova has been going on for a very long time.
But Fox sources now confirm the prehistoric, special effects-laden drama will air a short first season: for budgetary reasons, Terra Nova will only air 13 episodes, wrapping up in December.
Terra Nova Trailer
Terra Nova premieres with a two-hour episode on September 26, and it's not the only highly-anticipated series expected whose inaugural season will only be comprised of a handful of episodes.
Fox's Alcatraz, along with NBC's Smash and Awake, will also air 13 installments.

Do you have a paper bag? Are you breathing into it? Perfect. Please continue reading.
With the Thursday (July 21) and Friday (July 22) schedules already locked in, Comic-Con has released the list of events for Saturday (July 23). And if you weren't overwhelmed before, you probably are now.
But in the best way possible, of course. Saturday includes television panels and screenings for "Chuck," "Futurama," "Community," "Fringe" and "The Vampire Diaries." As for new series, "Terra Nova," "Grimm," "Alcatraz," "Charlie's Angels" and "The Secret Circle" will all have a presence.
Still, we've got to say we're most excited for Dark Horse Comics' Joss Whedon event. The "Avengers" director and geek god will be on hand to talk about the upcoming Season 9 comic continuation of his beloved "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" -- and make grown men weep.

Question: Will Peter come back in Season 4 of Fringe? Will Olivia find out the existence of Fauxlivia’s son? And, if so, how will she react? —Silvia

Meanwhile, sources confirm that producers are casting a new recurring female character. Interested actresses should be Asian and between the age of 25 and 50. Got casting tips?...

Seems like just yesterday we set up camp in Hall H, sleuthing out every last detail on "Scott Pilgrim," "Tron" and "Thor" -- but it's been a whole year, and that means we're heading back to the left coast for the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, starting July 21.
Our own Hit-Girls/senior editors Brooke Tarnoff and Breanne L. Heldman are heading to California in search of cowboys, aliens and "Cowboys & Aliens." In addition to catching Favreau's sneak preview, the ladies are most psyched to experience the record-setting decibel levels at the "Twilight" panel -- and will fight to the death, if necessary, to get their hands on "Hunger Games" intel.
Whether you'll battle the crowds yourself or keep tabs on our early mornings and late nights of Con coverage from a distance, check our 2011 San Diego Comic Con hub regularly for all the news, interviews and videos.

Indeed, two doctors will be hoping you schedule an appointment with them at 9 p.m. Mondays this fall, as Fox shifts House back an hour (to make room for Terra Nova) and The CW premieres Hart of Dixie.

Considering the year and the conditions, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Captain Scott's ill-fated Antarctic expedition of 1910 couldn't have been thoroughly documented on film.
It just wasn't possible back then to film in such adverse conditions, was it? In fairness, it really wasn't – this was a journey to an area they weren't even sure humans could survive in, let alone primitive film equipment. Seeing this amazing movie, then, is like seeing footage of the building of the pyramids or the sinking of the Titanic – it shouldn't exist, but it does. That's thanks to film-maker Herbert Ponting who, in an era that was all about making the impossible happen, went where no cameraman had been before, hanging off the side of the ship to capture the prow smashing the pack ice and wandering off for days to document the lives of such exotic...

Oh. My. God.
I hopped online and loaded the Terra Nova trailer (the nice long one, not the fifty-one second teaser), waiting impatiently for it to buffer on YouTube, then settled in to watch it.
Then, I watched it again.
Then, after shaking my head and saying, “What the heck was that?” about a half-dozen times, I ripped it with RealPlayer (shhh!) and watched it a few more times. Even after that, I’m still a little bit confused, a lot bit intrigued, and extremely impatient. It’s only the middle of June, and September is so far away!
The vision of the future is ugly and, sadly, believable. The pinkish-grey sky evokes a smoggy La day, but it’s cold and drag. The respirators and the shivering people—it’s miserable. Then, all the action in the terminal, all the yanking of the visceral bits of our emotions as...

With a tagline of “Love. Be Afraid,” this is Not a serialized version of Michael J. Fox’s chucklefest film from a couple of decades ago. Rather, MTV’s Teen Wolf is much closer to The Vampire Diaries but with younger and perhaps Even Better-looking cast members. I’m not kidding; I’ve seen these people in person.

Everyone knows what a sequel is. Everyone unfortunately knows what a prequel is. Everyone who doesn’t know what a reboot is will feel very confused at the multiplex next year. But in the nightmarish franchise laboratory of modern Hollywood, the Boys in the Back Room have created a horrific new subspecies that harnesses the power of the fourth dimension to pump new energy into a fading film series. The name of this monstrosity? The preboot (noun, origin unknown unless someone is stupid enough to claim it). Like the common prequel, the preboot takes place chronologically earlier than previous films in a series.
