Coming our way from AntiCurrent Productions, the film marks the feature writing and directorial debut of Josh Roush, who has been working for Smith’s company Smodco for the last decade. A couple months ago, Kevin Smith announced that he will be making a sequel 2014 horror film Tusk (watch it Here) for the film’s tenth anniversary, a sequel that he’s planning to call Tusk. And that’s not the only horror sequel he has in the works. Slash Film reports that, during a Q&a at an Austin, Texas screening of Clerks III, Smith is also going to be making a sequel to his 2011 horror debut Red State (watch that one Here)! Red State 2 will be happening because distributor Lionsgate (who also financed Clerks III) specifically requested that he make the sequel.
Smith said, “(Lionsgate was) like, if we do this, would you do it again? And I was like, yeah, in a heartbeat. […] I mean, obviously, Michael Parks is gone. But it’s just a story of crazy people with guns and shit like that. As long as...

Well, that was unexpected.
Siddiq (Avi Nash), still suffering from ever-worsening panic attacks, is able to pull himself together enough to realize that Alexandria’s plague is being caused by tainted water — due to a switched handle in the purification system and not from Gamma’s (Thora Birch) zombie dam, as previously theorized — and since Siddiq’s in charge of the water systems with Eugene (Josh McDermitt) gone, he blames himself. Dante (Juan Javier Cardenas) comes by to give him a pep talk and clicks his tongue in a distinct manner, causing Siddiq to realize that Dante is a Whisperer. In fact, he’s the one who forced Siddiq to watch as Alpha (Samantha Morton) beheaded his friends. Dante figures out Siddiq is onto him, they have a brief scuffle, and Dante strangles Siddiq, presumably to death.
Whew!

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 7
How do you convince someone who has been brainwashed that they've been brainwashed? Alpha has complete authority over her subjects on The Walking Dead season 10. We’ve seen just what kind of pull she has on her people, and just how skilled she is at getting them to do the things she wants, even when they don't want to do those things. Gamma killed her own sister; Gamma's sister left her baby to die in front of Hilltop. Nobody thinking rationally or logically would want to do either of those things, and yet, Alpha asks, and they do. She's their savior, in more ways than one, and she's not hesitant to remind them that they owe their continued existence to her largess and leadership.

Get ready to say goodbye to the First Son of Texas.
In the official trailer for the second and final season of AMC’s “The Son,” which is exclusive to TheWrap, Eli McCullough is dealing with a whole mess of family trouble both in his past and his present. And then the Pierce Brosnan-led Western drama goes and drops another timeline into the mix to stir the pot even more during its final batch of episodes.
Watch the video above.
Here’s the official description for Season 2, per AMC:
Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan) will stop at nothing to secure his legacy against the backdrop of the nascent oil industry of 1917. His tools are deceit, fraud and murder — weapons he wields with the effortless skill of the Comanche warrior he once was. But the biggest challenge he faces will be quelling a civil war under his own roof, triggered by...

AMC’s martial arts drama Into the Badlands will end after the upcoming final eight episodes of its third season, which will debut March 24. The network also has set an April 24 premiere date for Season 2 of drama The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan, which will be its last.
Neither cancellation is particularly surprising. Both Into the Bandlands and The Son were renewed for Season 3 and Season 2, respectively, almost two years ago. Into the Badlands’ 16-episode third season was completed awhile ago, the cast was released, and a number of them have taken on new acting gigs. As for The Son, as a Western, it did draw respectable viewership though it was old-skewing. Additionally, I hear star Brosnon only had signed a short-term contract which is the case with many movie stars who do TV series these days.

Warning: contains spoilers.
Loss builds resolve. At least that seems to be the main message in AMC’s latest drama The Son, in its debut episode. Opening in 1849 with a focus on a young Eli McCullough, the central protagonist who will grow into the fine form of a bearded Pierce Brosnan, we see him taking up mantle of ‘man of the house’, hunting and showing a large amount of self-assurance. However, it’s not long before his youthful belligerence, and a need to defend his home from invading Comanche, has resulted in his mother and sister being raped and killed, with his surviving brother soon being run through by a spear, leaving him as the sole surviving son.

“Their fortune is forged in blood,” boasts the trailer to the epic Western series. Set in the Texas frontier, the action-heavy trailer depicts Pierce Brosnan as Eli McCullough, the patriarch of the McCullough dynasty (which was forged in the aforementioned blood), and his journey from innocent man to hardened killer, in his quest for power. As revealed by the many explosions, gunfire, and one possible scalping (can’t have a western with at least One scalping), the 10-episode hour-long drama aims to deliver on that tagline.
Starring alongside Brosnan are Jacob Lofland (“Justified), Henry Garrett (“Beauty and the Beast”), Paola Nunez, Carlos Bardem, Zahn McClarnon (“Fargo”), Jess Weixler,...

Did Quentin Tarantino stumble this time out? His tale of western killers sharing a snowbound cabin builds almost zero suspense, and the verbal excess and violent grossness lack Tarantino's usual clever, wickedly funny edge. And 70mm cooped up in a dim interior? It's A Long Day's Journey into Lincoln Logs. Totally dig Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ennio Morricone, though. Everyone who works with Ennio Morricone calls him "Maestro." It's a title that's both deferential and affectionate for the prolific, 87-year-old composer. Since the late Fifties, he has written some 500 movie scores, including such celebrated and iconic contributions to soundtracks such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission and Cinema Paradiso. His music has inspired a wide swath of artists from Metallica to Celine Dion, as well as filmmakers from Sergio Leone to Bernardo Bertolucci. But despite this, he has received few film awards in the U.

What jumps to mind when you hear the phrase "Quentin Tarantino movie"? Hyperviolence? A bunch of different B-movies pastiched into something new? A lot of dialogue with a lot of bad language? That one "F" word in particular? Any of those could be right, but there's another thing many of Tarantino's movies have in common: a big, meaty role for an actor who's maybe in need of a career boost. In the case of the Tarantino movie currently in theaters, The Hateful Eight, the role is that of Daisy Domergue, a wily, foul-mouthed criminal played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. Now Leigh hasn't been without work.

The Hateful Eight is, as its title suggests, a sort of inverted Magnificent Seven, its cast of colorful characters coming together not to put aside their lone wolf differences in unlikely defense of a pastoral dream but to bite, tear, shoot, hack, poison, stab, and hang each other in pursuit of goals which, as the film progresses and the tide of blood comes in, are sucked into the void like dirty water down a drain. The same roadshow version will also screen in other venues digitally rather than on film. Before the roadshow engagement ends, a slightly shortened version, sans overture and intermission, will go into general release on December 31, so if you’re interested in seeing the roadshow version—and if you can, you should see it—read your newspaper or Internet theater listings carefully.)

As much as any mainstream film consumer has an opinion, positive or negative, about "Star Wars," it is likely that they also have an opinion, positive or negative, about Quentin Tarantino, as big a brand as any working filmmaker. At this point in his career, he's the reason I go to the theater. I don't care what the subject matter is, who's in it, or when it's released. I will go see any movie Quentin makes, no matter what, because he's earned that at this point. When he makes a film, he does it with a voice and an attitude and a style that is clearly and unmistakably his, and by now, if you're even remotely interested in his movies, you have a pretty good idea what sort of thing you're in for when you go to see "The Hateful Eight." There are many, many things to like about Quentin Tarantino’s new film The Hateful Eight. A great deal of them are being talked about all throughout the industry by various writers, but one aspect of Tarantino’s eighth outing is being woefully neglected. What is that? Well, the supporting turn by Bruce Dern, of course. Is it the flashiest in the movie? No, but that’s not the point. Dern is one of the great character actors of the last half century, and seeing him really get to dive into a role like this and work with Tarantino is something special. In a flick that’s rarely understated, they manage something fairly subtle, so I figured that was worth appreciating a bit today. The film opens this week, so it makes perfect sense. For those unaware, this is, ironically enough, Tarantino film number eight, and centers around a group...

Quentin Tarantino’s love of genre cinema manifests itself in retention and expansion: while he understands that the homaged works were often built to hit a base instinct in their viewer, the respect he extends towards them is part and parcel of his desire to provide more, more, and more, to illustrate that these extreme expressions can and very well should be masks for genuine profundity. His eighth feature, The Hateful Eight, embraces the dime-store whodunit western on its surface without ever stumbling in its path to becoming a major exercise of Tarantino’s cinematic, cultural, and historical vocabulary. Moreover, limiting himself and the team of collaborators to a compact (albeit three-hour-long) tale serves as something of a provocation — a continually shifting Rorschach test for how fans and detractors alike measure the value (supposed or assumed) of his oeuvre.

For a Few Hours More: Tarantino’s Flamboyant Style Stamped onto a Salami Western
Quentin Tarantino returns with his latest feature, The Hateful Eight, another retro re-hash of period following the revenge fantasies of WWII set Inglourious Basterds (2009) and the pre-Civil War American Deep South in Django Unchained (2012). Returning to the inspirational pool of the Spaghetti Western for his latest concoction, Tarantino showcases another tale of violence, greed, and betrayal amongst marauders and peripheral bounty hunters in post-Civil War Wyoming. Utilizing his particular brand of characterization, a fine borderline of catchy kitsch and inspired homage, Tarantino resurrects 70mm Panavision, a film stock twice as wide as 35mm stock, and the title represents the widest theatrical release the format has seen in over twenty years. The presentation alone is enough to inspire interest for cineastes, but it arrives with a high bar of comparison considering titles like Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and...

Quentin Tarantino's new western, The Hateful Eight, is some piece of work. Here's our review...
If you want a quick, spoiler-free summary, The Hateful Eight is dead good. It’s better than Django Unchained, but does exhibit a few of the flaws seen in that film. To avoid spoilers, I've avoided specific details about a couple of key moments in the movie, but I'd expect them to be heavily dissected afterwards.
The Hateful Eight is set in post civil war (actual, not Marvel) America, and it primarily takes place in Minnie’s Haberdashery. Here, a small collective of scoundrels find themselves stuck together, seeking shelter from a blizzard, with haberdashery-owning Minnie conspicuously absent. As is the case with scoundrels, it’s hard to know who to trust. Two bounty hunters, a general, a cowboy, a sheriff, a hangman and Seńor Bob seem to be on a collision course.

The Civil War didn’t end at Appomattox, but still rages in the hearts and minds of Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight,” a salty hothouse whodunit that owes as much to Agatha Christie as it does to Anthony Mann. Though Tarantino toys with many of the lawless frontier genre’s classic tropes, it’s arguable whether this deliciously long-winded mystery — “molasses-like,” to use his own term — qualifies as a Western at all. It might more aptly be considered an ongoing North-vs.-Southern, seeing as how . The gratuitous bloodletting and hefty running time should appeal primarily to cinephiles, building word of mouth in the week between Christmas Day and Dec. 31, when it makes a killing in wide release.
Last year, Tarantino announced a career plan that would see the director retiring (or perhaps turning his attention to television) after 10 films, and in light of his own self-imposed limit, the helmer...

The 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards will be launching the awards campaigns of contenders both big and small, but few are bigger than Quentin Tarantino’s new movie The Hateful Eight. The film and its cast will be honored with the Hollywood Ensemble Award, which bodes well for its chances with Oscar. The ensemble consists of a group that includes Zoë Bell, Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, Dana Gourrier, Lee Horsley, Samuel L. Jackson, Keith Jefferson, Gene Jones, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Belinda Owino, James Parks, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Craig Stark, and Channing Tatum, with some to compete for Academy Awards this year as well. It’s a heck of a cast, one that Tarantino seems to have had a blast playing with. The Hollywood Film Awards have recognized the ensemble with this honor, one that seems very appropriate to me… Here’s part of the press...

Yesterday, it was announced that the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards would be the first to honor Quentin Tarantino’s last movie The Hateful Eight. The film is being cited with an honor for its entire ensemble cast, which is a compliment not just to Tarantino, but to a number of Academy Award hopefuls as well. The flick is still by and large unseen by all but a few, so its Oscar prospects are still a bit up in the air. That being said, citations like this one make me think that Qt could have another award winner on his hands here in The Hateful Eight. In any event, it’s time now for another installment of the Hollywood Film Awards series! Here’s the official honor being bestowed on the film… “Hollywood Ensemble Award” The Hateful Eight, by Quentin Tarantino Who is in the cast that shares in this particular honor?...

We’re more than halfway through August, dear readers, and the summer movie season is almost over. But there are always new trailers for me to watch and analyze. This week’s installment of Trailer Trashin’ takes a look at the teaser for Quentin Tarantino’s next film The Hateful Eight.
Premise: In post-Civil War Wyoming, eight strangers seek shelter in a haberdashery during a blizzard. But they soon get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception. Will they survive, and are they really who they say they are?
My take: Back in November 2013, Quentin Tarantino announced that his next film would be The Hateful Eight, his second Western after Django Unchained (2012). But in January 2014, after Tarantino had given copies of his first draft screenplay of the film to a few trusted colleagues, a copy of the script was leaked online. Tarantino was furious, filed a lawsuit against the gossip blog Gawker,...

We haven't yet seen a trailer for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, but we've seen plenty of pictures, a text-filled teaser as well as a poster (and now a second one) so it only stands to assume today's reveal of a new poster is a sign the first trailer is on the way... or at least I'm choosing to interpret this new poster in such a way. Of course, I'm someone that would prefer not to see a single trailer before it arrives on Christmas Day, but I just know I won't be able to help but sneak a peek once it does premiere. I'll be in line for a new Tarantino movie no matter what it is and even though I sort of wish he'd done something other than a Western, I really can't argue when it's his words and the cast he's able to drum up for his features.

A new poster for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight at this year's Comic Con. It looks as if the lead up to the film's December 25 release will be heavily focused on the fact it was filmed in 70mm Ultra Panavision as denoted in the bottom right corner of this new poster. Additionally, Tarantino revealed (via Slashfilm) that Ennio Morricone will be providing an original score for the film. Tarantino has used plenty of Morricone music in the past, but all but one original track for Django Unchained came from Morricone's past films. Here's what Tarantino told the Comic Con audience: I want to make one announcement that people don't know yet. It wasn't for sure, but we just settled it. You guys know that I don't use an original score in my movies, I kinda take scores from other movies and put 'em in there. This one, I...

Easily my most anticipated film of 2015 is Quentin Tarantino's latest The Hateful Eight. I may or may not have read that leaked first draft of the script, and if I did, I would say it was pretty terrific. It also does not hurt that Tarantino pushed for 70mm both in production and distribution. And we have been twiddling our thumbs, waiting to know when exactly we'd get to see this film. Well, we can now go over to our calendars and circle a day. Like his 2012 western Django Unchained, we will see The Hateful Eight on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. That is if your local cinema projects 70mm film. Luckily, I am one of those people. If you do not have this kind of projection around you, you will have to wait until Jan. 8, 2016 for the nationwide digital release. That is a surprising length of time between the two releases.

After a turbulent period of stolen screenplays and regrettable lawsuits last year, Quentin Tarantino decided to eschew his frustrations and finally film his mammoth screenplay for The Hateful Eight, a purportedly brutal and bloody western about a coterie of strangers who tell each other stories and kill stuff, like The Canterbury Tales but with more swearing. The film’s colossal cast includes Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, "The Bounty Hunter"; Kurt Russell as John Ruth, "The Hangman"; Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue, "The Prisoner"; Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, "The Sheriff"; Demáin Bichir as Bob, "The Mexican"; Tim Roth as Oswaldo Mobray, "The Little Man"; Bruce Dern as General Sanford Smithers, "The Confederate"; and Michael Madsen as Joe Gage, "The Cow Puncher." Channing Tatum, James Parks, and Zoë Bell will also make appearances. The film's teaser came out illegally a few months ago, then legally last month,...

Entertainment Weekly has released the cover for their next issue, which boasts the world's first official look at Quentin Tarantino's next movie, The Hateful Eight. And not only do we get to see a three of the film's eight badasses, but the cover also promises it's the "meanest, grittiest, and deadliest movie of the year." Normally we'd just chalk that up to marketing speak, but since this is Tarantino we're talking about, we won't be surprised in the slightest if it were true. And we actually kind of hope it is, especially if it means seeing this ridiculous cast completely cut loose: Samuel L. The temperature may be rising, but the latest images from Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" maybe leave you feeling a bit chilly. Yesterday we got the first official look, and now some new images from the pages of EW have landed online to give another glimpse at what's coming to cinemas this fall, in all of its 70mm glory. Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Channing Tatum, Zoe Bell, James Parks, Dana Gourrier, Keith Jefferson, Lee Horsley, Craig Stark, Belinda Owino and Gene Jones all make up the players in this movie about eight rogues who get snowbound in a frontier way station where things get heated, in this story set not long after the Civil War. And we can't wait to see the results. "The Hateful Eight" arrives later this year via The Weinstein Company. Check out the pics below.

Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Kurt Russell in character from Quentin Tarantino's upcoming movie The Hateful Eight. I can only assume we'll be getting more very soon, but for now the cover does from with a quote from Tarantino discussing the film saying, "For me it has more of a western Iceman Cometh kind of vibe about it. A bunch of guys in a room who can't trust each other. That wasn't a marching order when I sat down to write the script, but pretty quickly I realized this is kind of a nice coming-full-circle." A teaser for Quentin Tarantino's highly-anticipated Western The Hateful Eight has been unveiled.
The 97-second clip includes no actual footage from the film, but does outline the basic storyline of eight strangers coming together in a blizzard.
Tarantino's dangerous group is comprised of Tarantino's The Bounty Hunter (Samuel L Jackson), The Hangman (Kurt Russell), The Prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh), The Sheriff (Walton Goggins), The Mexican (Demián Bichir), The Little Man (Tim Roth), The Cow Puncher (Michael Madsen) and The Confederate (Bruce Dern).
The film will also include Zoë Bell, Channing Tatum and James Parks.
Viggo Mortensen was originally linked to The Hateful Eight as well, but scheduling conflicts made his involvement impossible.
Tarantino revived and re-worked The Hateful Eight last year even after a draft of the screenplay was leaked online.
The Hateful Eight is expected to be released in the Us on November 13 this year. A UK release is yet to be set.

Quentin Tarantino has officially begun filming The Hateful Eight. And he's added three new members to the cast: Lee Horsley, Craig Stark and Belinda Owino.
The Western started shooting today (Friday) in Telluride, Colorado. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walter Goggins, Demian Bichir, Michael Madsen and Channing Tatum. James Parks and Zoe Bell are also on the list.
The Hateful Eight is set a decade or so after the Civil War. There's bounty hunters, fugitives, renegades and other individuals of dubious backgrounds who are forced to hole up in a stagecoach stopover when a snowstorm hits. The travelers soon get the feeling that they may not make it to their destination. As always, the script was written by Tarantino.
The film is scheduled to open later this year.
